CB's Nuts lightly salted peanuts are a staple in our house. We LOVE them so much that we added them to our wedding guest welcome bags. We were going to purchase individual bags 12oz bags until they shop offered us a large bag (something like 3lbs if I recall properly). This was a much more cost effective option. Our guests loved having these as their 'salty' goodies. We were happy to share something new with everyone as most live out of state. I am a curious guy. I also like food. I like to watch "Good Eats" and "Unwrapped" so when I heard that CBs Nuts roasting house was just a couple of miles away from me on the way to Kingston and has free tours it sounded like something I couldn't miss out on. You get to see the roasting process, hear about the product and sample the wares! They also make fresh peanut butter - Yum! If you are going to be in the area stop on in and see for yourself. Just a follow up to my first review... After initially sampling their products, I have found/made/stolen time to go back again... and again... and again... and... These things are to nuts what the local roaster/grinder/barrista upscale latte places are to coffee (and I mean that in only the most positive ways!!!) I can't say enough about the products, they are just sooooo... good! And the people are friendly, down-to-earth, very nice, and oh-so-obviously passionate about nuts and what they do! During our trip to the Kitsap Peninsula we learned how to shuck and suck oysters right on the beach. I know raw oysters aren't for everyone, but those who like them will tell you that purity of flavor is everything. It turns out that Mother Nature gets it right: pure umami balanced with some Puget Sound saltiness. What does this have to do with nuts? Well, the question we had as we walked into CB's was if something as simple as a nut could do the same thing: delight the taste buds with a simple, clean and fresh flavor. Most nuts and nut butters you find on the market have a cloying, rancid, over roasted flavor. Even the so-called natural, organic and fresh peanut butters in whole foods markets taste 'old'. We ended up sampling most every nut. Our reaction was the same as our oyster experience: quizzical. "Huh. Nuts taste like that? Huh." *crunch crunch crunch* ...pause... "Oh wow, that was really good"! The peanut butter is perfect; ground on the spot with no added salt or sugar. Imagine that-- nothing added to those peanuts to 'enhance' their flavor. It was divine. I bought their CB 1 ingredient peanut butter at Whole Foods because the tag said "local". I usually get their 365 brand because it's the cheapest peanut butter I can count on to not have any other extra stuff (like sugar) in it. But here in the PNW, we make some pretty damned good stuff, so it's usually worth the extra couple bucks. I opened it, peered into the jar and it looked... weird at first. I was dismayed to find "Creamunchy" essentially meant crunchy and I wanted creamy, dammit. But upon second glance, it almost looked... dessert-like somehow. I dipped a spoon in, tasted, and O M G!!!!! HEAVEN!!!!! W T F? It's JUST PEANUTS. I mean, yeah, that's a good thing... but how can it taste SO @#$%ing GOOD? There's almost this, dare I say, subtle marshmallow-y hint to it somehow. Maybe because I'm doing a super low carb diet, but I've been snacking on various nut butters, and whilst they taste sweet, none taste like this. Definitely not heavy and oily like some nut butters. I now TOTALLY forgive them for the Creamunchy business. Though I wonder if I can bring myself to use this in recipes... it's like cooking with a truly fine wine. This stuff deserves to be eaten straight from the jar. I gotta try their other nut butters now too. Too bad WFM doesn't stock them. [HINT HINT]. Ok I do admit to polishing off the last of the jar mixed with cream cheese. Instant PB cheesecake! The worst thing about it is that it ruins you for other peanut butters. I had to stoop to using some Adams and it tastes like crap to me now. Thanks CB, really... It's stretching my diet to be eating peanut butter in the first place, now I'm addicted to this stuff. =8-Q Oh yeah, I guess it is convenient to not have to stir it, but really, the taste is the most important thing. read more

The peanut butter is amazing! It contains only peanuts! The staff is great. Always friendly and helpful. It amuses me to read reviews that say that CB's peanut butter doesn't taste as good as the brands that add sugar and salt. Educate your palate! What you are tasting in CB's is just peanuts! Or I guess you could buy CB's peanut butter and add your own sugar and salt to make it taste like Adams, or add your own sugar, salt, tropical oils and stabilizers to make it taste like Skippy. In my own unscientific study, CB's peanut butter side-by-side with another organic peanut butter tasted like CB's had less sugar and salt. A quick look at the ingredients confirms this. Only peanuts in CB's, added sugar and salt in the other brand. Other reasons to love CB's: 1. Refills. Bring in your old jar to get a refill for only $4. (Reuse is better than recycle, and the price is great.) 2. A Yelp deal that lets you get $10 of their products for $5. (That's 2 1/2 refills!) 3. Lots of other nut butters and roasted nuts not available in stores. 4. You can get their peanut butter delivered by Smith Bros. Dairy. (Assuming that you're already signed up for home delivery with Smith Bros.) Right now you can also get pumpkin seeds. CB's Nuts is located on Highway 104, just before you get into Kingston. We moved to The Palm Springs area and are having withdrawals. CB's are easily the best peanuts in a shell that we have enjoyed. Unlike CB's, the produce stands around here offer the typical over salted, peanuts with one wimpy and one decent nut in a most often moldy looking shell. Fresh roasted organic peanuts that are ground-to-order. Need I say more?? Okay... I will anyways. You HAVE to try the fresh roasted organic peanuts. There's nothing else like them (that I've ever had anyways). They have a special kind of tender shell and just the right amount of saltiness that allows you to eat half the bag without getting salt-burn in your mouth. Also, the fresh peanut butter is really an unmatchable choice for your baking needs and makes the yummiest homemade PB cookies that I've ever eaten. I'm spoiled to live just a few miles from this place and thankful that I have an alternative to the store bought hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup in my PB. I have been here 2 times and all 2 times the woman behind the counter was rude and not very excited that we were purchasing her goods. This is a small, off the road store that probably doesn't get a ton of customers so I would think she would be nicer to her customers. Howdy! Meh. I've experienced better and cheaper. Sure non-mass produced products can taste better and potentially be better for you, though the science is still figuring that out and probably won't anytime soon. (So buying Skippy or one of the other cheap and merde brands is more than appropriate..) Their penuche butter is eh, ok. But had sort of a burnt aftertaste. Not as good as the mass produced Adams, which is consistently better and far less expensive. Don't buy it at Central FArkit! They mark it up even though they are only a few miles apart. Obscene to charge over $6a lb for peanut butter? Go also to WaldoMart in Poulsbo around the corner for a better Adams price. Disappointed in CB's taste, price and quality considering that they claim to provide better. read more

i love this place & will continue to support it but would like them to be more consistent with the shelled peanuts. a couple of times i've gone in to pick up my requisite few pounds of lightly salted and it's not until after they've filled the bag....they tell me it's something else b/c they are out/roasting/etc. or, don't mention it all thinking i won't notice. if they were a restaurant, it would be unlikely i would return. but, they aren't, so, i return. be consistent in product--that's what makes people return. inconsistency is noticed. i want to support this place & will continue to do so b/c their product is great but please don't sell me something i didn't order. read more

Nice shop to get delicious peanut butter and hazelnut butter. They have an option to grind your own fresh peanut butter right on site! They have a small bar type area with a real piece of the Mariners dugout and some tasty local brews on tap. They also have baked goods and some local fruit preserves. They roast them fresh there, and they have multiple kinds. They have roasted almond, roasted cashews, you name it. As well as many different kinds of nut butter. A fun discovery while driving back to Seattle from Butchart gardens. High quality nuts that were impressive. They were out of salted peanuts, but the unsalted were so meaty and juicy that we were not disappointed. I only wish they had pisatcheos ready when we were there. What a fun place to visit and shop! We got first-class treatment from Tom, the employee on duty on Black Friday. We were treated with all the samples we wanted, as well as a tour of the facility. Found this place on our way back to Seattle from a camping trip at Dosewallips State Park. It's a small roadside place crammed full of nuts, that smells just divine when you enter. CB's Nuts is a small-batch, local roaster. There's a small store up front, and from there you can get a glimpse of their roasting facilities inside. We bought roasted peanuts, cashews, and hazelnuts. All are very yummy, although one week later I think the peanuts are already losing their freshness. Also, I'm not certain these are yummy enough to warrant the higher price. Stopped by this place with some of my family on Black Friday. OH man were we in for a treat! Tom was so super friendly, knowledgeable and let us play twenty million questions. We sampled almost all the kinds of the nuts that they offer. Everyone we came with ended up walking away with arm loads of deliciously roasted nuts. I got the peanut butter, the almonds and two packages of the robust flavored peanuts. If you stop here, you HAVE got to try the robust peanuts. DELICIOUS! Will be seeking this brand out and my local whole foods when I run out since they are a ferry boat away. Will definitely stop back by next time we go across the sound though. read more

To my nieces and nephews I was "Uncle Peanut Butter"... how could I have NOT known about CB's? Driven right by the place for years too. All that changed a few days ago when an old friend brought us a bag of CB's peanuts; when she unintentionally left them behind her loss was my gain and I devoured the remainder wanting more! Besides being truly delicious they're so reminiscent of bygone days at Sick's Stadium and Rainier games, the only thing different is the little red,white and blue paper "Fresh Roasted Peanuts" bag's missing. Drove out today and found a heavenly smell of peanuts roasting and nice array of product. The storekeeper Olen was so chipper and pleasant in answering all my questions and even laughing at my lame jokes. I came away with a bucket of peanuts and bag of pistachios which I also adore... never had anything quite like them. I am sooooooooooo hooked! read more
