But for me, this review is about the coffee. The roast, the grind, the pressure, the balance, the crema, all of it worked. This was not just a decent cup from a cute cafe. This was careful coffee from people who know what they are doing. You can smell the roasting as soon as you open the door. That is usually a good sign, but it does not always translate into the cup. Here it does. We were especially grateful to find this place after a strange travel evening near Dungeness Spit when almost nothing seemed open and dinner ended up being a couple items from Walmart eaten in the car. Strong and crisp coffee here while the ube is brought out just enough to not be covered completely by the coffee. It's a sweet, soothing layer with whole milk added to make the drink a little thicker and uniform with the coffee. I felt like I was getting a sip and smell of the outside leaves with the juniper as well, so a ton of feelings in one cup that I downed in less than 3 minutes! The cafe has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back feel of Sequim. Definitely a nice little local spot to grab breakfast or coffee if you're in the area. We only wish we had a place like this closer to home in Seattle. There are plenty of great coffee shops there, but this café has a special hometown feel that makes you want to come back.
