They still have pretty decent food. Great service. However, the prices have gone way sky high. And every time I think about going there now, I changed my mind when I look at the menu prices, and I choose something else. That's just me. I love good tasting quality clean food, which they serve. I do, though, need more budget friendly meals. When the price of a salad, there costs as much as me, feeding a family of three, i have to pause and prioritize. That said, though they have the best chef. I don't eat baked goods, but those who do love their baked goods as well. So definitely patronize them. I'll be back a few times a year, when they rotate their menu and there's something I really want. I just can't eat there once or twice a month like I used to. So. Much. Food! The burgers that were ordered were like three stories high. My grilled meatloaf sandwich was delicious, but it was a good 5 1/2 inches in diameter and so thick that with everything else, I can only eat 1/4 of. Leftovers was a bit better than that I was able to eat a half a sandwich. I made a joke that it was my "side of beef" sandwich. My son-in-law's chicken sandwich was awesome and so was my wife's Katsu pork sandwich. I also had the passion fruit cheese cake. That was yummy! The employees, even though swamped, took care of us and are cheerful. The restaurant has a homey feel. We ate outside, though in the park next to it. They carried Bedford's brand of sodas, and they are awesome! The Marion Berry cream and the root beer was so good. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. IT HAS BEEN YEARS SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE So, first time I came here it was a cute little place with hardly anyone inside appreciating the amazing food and baked goods. Though it was a weekend so bear that in mind, they have a beautiful large table inside where you are expected to share and snag a chair as soon as someone leaves it lol. Their bakery case was a beauty of baked goods that you simply could not choose from without lots of difficulty and I still have regrets (in the sense of what I couldn't get) Ok let's talk about all the things we got Peanut Butter Cookie 5/5 INSANE! Now I remember that these were even way back when one of the best peanut butter cookies I've ever had AND it's a monster of a cookie Pistachio Chocolate Dipped Shortbread 5/5 OMG this was so good, there is none of that nasty extract but also there is SO MANY PISTACHIOS it was glorious Chocolate Chip Cookie 5/5 I don't know how to explain how happy I am to just order a chocolate chip cookie and get exactly what I ask for, no disappointment, no pretentiousness, A solid cookie that isn't insanely sweet or too gooey, just perfect. I would say if its been raining you may want to make sure you have a towel or an extra jacket as not all their outdoor benches are under cover and you may end up on a damp bench. Seating inside is very limited and it is cut throat in there so you might be stuck outside. It was quite a bit of a wait to get out food (there was also LOTS of take out orders) but it's nothing I would dock them anything for, good business is good business. We also got the chimichurri steak bowl...the veggies in this were so fresh! The steak and chimichurri had great flavors. Stopped in for lunch while visiting Port Gamble. Love that the building is a converted old service station built in 1920. There is a walk-up coffee bar and restaurant. There are a few tables inside and picnic tables outside. The restroom is outside by the picnic tables. You order at the counter, given a beeper, then go retrieve your food. You're asked to bus your own table as well. This process ran smoothly and timely. We ordered their popular crispy chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and a piece of their raspberry cheesecake. The sandwich came with kettle chips or salad, or you could upgrade to potato salad. We opted for the kettle chips. The sandwich was good. Chicken cooked perfectly, and homemade pickles were good. I'm not sure what was missing, but it was surprisingly lacking flavor. Maybe in the batter or pimento cheese?! We're not sure. It was good, though. We would probably try something else next time. Their menu had many items that sounded good. Now, the raspberry cheesecake was a totally different story. It was absolutely delicious! We would would definitely order that again. First time visiting today and the place was clean. The counters were very organized and items were displayed nicely and it was very inviting. I like the self service option to order at the counter, find a table and bring back your tray when you're done. It was fairly busy, but Hannah took her time to explain to me at our table what items are popular on the menu and what she recommended. She made us feel very comfortable and made this experience amazing. We ordered the chimicuri steak with grilled veggies, ricotta eggs with toast bacon and fingerling potatoes. We also couldn't leave without bringing home chocolate croissant, chocolate chip cookies, pistachio cheesecake and pecan brownies. 9/10 would recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. Probably the best bakery/restaurant I've ever been to. We go here like once every couple months and I'm always happy. I don't think I've ever gotten a meal I didn't love and the baked goods are absurd. The seating inside is limited but there's a bunch outside if it's nice. The staff is always very helpful. Super friendly service, tons of incredible looking treats in the display case that make picking one (or in my case 3) really hard. Lots of seating on the inside and outside, it's loud but the vibrant small town, feel good loud. We ordered the poke bowl which was fresh and loaded with cabbage, avocado, rice and well seasoned tuna, the crunchy wonton strips added a nice textural change. Desserts wise, settled on the pb&j bar, lemon blueberry cake and spumoni cheesecake. The pb&j bar was a 10/10, not too sweet, tons of peanuts, dense with a good chew. The lemon and blueberry cake was moist, the homemade blueberry layer was sweet without being disgustingly so and the lemon curd was really tart (but I could feel very minor corn starch granules, so could have been smoother IMO), still super solid. The spumoni was my least favorite, it wasn't too sweet and the cheesecake itself was smooth but the flavors weren't super pronounced. Overall, great experience! read more

The fried chicken is simply amazing (crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside), the best I've ever had! Located in the small town of Port Gamble. Great service, the gentleman taking care of our order gave a thorough intro on their speciality, and shared fried chicken sandwich is the one item that doesn't get swapped out. Needless to say, there's a great reason for that. Highly highly recommended if you're in the area. The dessert items here are all very stellar! This is fun little Resturant in a neat little town. Has some covered outdoor seating, that was a block from the wind. It was a nice place to sit and still feel like we were outside. It's a comfortable place to eat. The pricing is a bit high by a few dollars for their items. Most sandwiches are $17-20. I got a cookie with my sandwich and it was huge, but also $5. A tip is asked for at the counter when you order. (The restaurant is set up for you to bus your own dishes) I got a Cuban sandwich, which came with chips or salad. I got the chips. The sand which was very good. Good enough that if I lived close by, I would go back and get another one before the menu changes (I'm reading in other reviews that the menu changes every 6 weeks or so). The pickle slices were perfect, the ham and chicken were great. Just the right amount of mustard. The cookie was good, with huge chocolate chips. But I'm not sure it was $5.. worth of cookie. I would like to try some other baked items from them. It was hard not to buy all the cakes, pies and cookies on display. They looked so good. One staple you will find every time though is the chicken sandwich and it is by far the best chicken sandwich you will ever have in your life. I defy anyone who thinks they have had better. I had a pickled herring dish and it was absolutely delicious. Not many places do pickled herring but I'm so glad Butcher and baker took on the challenge. Also there are a ton of local beers and wine to choose from and other fun drinks which will not disappoint . This place has shared seating with a few smaller tables for just one party. Lots of outdoor seating as well some of which is covered from the weather. No kids menu but our kid loves the hamburger or chicken sandwich. Friendly staff to take your order. However this is a self service place so expect to bus your own table and pick up your meal from the counter. Inside is pretty chilly in the winter but not to bad with a long sleeve or sweater. read more

Was excited and pleased to see the Hearts of Palm salad. Description was inviting, however execution was a 2. I am hopeful it was a fluke given Saturday, day before Easter. I ordered via the website for pick up. Very little hearts of palm . The dressing on the side (of course and good, thx since was to go order) was only 1/3 filled. Odd. (again likely a fluke). The tortilla was tasty, but i forgot to ask if vegan. Rosemary foccacia was very large for $5. It was a pass for me. Strawberry shortcake was just like grandma made it. The strawberries were just the right sweetness, fresh whipped cream, crop lu shortcake made the right way so it socks up the strawberries goodness!
