A Michelin-star worthy food truck in humble Kingston, helmed by a chef who leans into her deep intuitive knowledge of cultural food traditions such as her own, Ukrainian, where fermentation is a common practice. Take the humble grain bowl using Ukrainian buckwheat "Kasha" with fermented vegetables. With the expert "curing" of the vegetables evident by taste, and glazed with a lovely nutty sauce, it is both simple, and yet profound. Similarly a recent soup of tomatillo and zuchini, cut by black beans, corn, and tortilla strips both tasted familiarly Mexican, but also stretched the palate and feel healthy like all traditional foods. Menu standards like the fermented "kimchi waffle fries", are fun to eat, but each week she introduces exciting and ecclectic plates - once "rabbit" was on the menu. This is exceptional food, but not in the rarefied, experimental way of expensive haute cuisines, rather they draw on deep cultural food traditions. The range of flavors is much more sophisticated and pleasing to my palate than anything else I have tasted across Kitsap county. The sauer kraut chocolate cake? wow. The fermented hot sauces? Delicious. The gyro plate with smoked beet baba-ganoush, and the adjika (Georgian savory herb) sauerkraut layered with tzatziki is a virtual Berlin nightclub party in the mouth. You can pair the food with exquisite house fermented kvass or kombuchas. I highly recommend the "linden blossom" one which is a traditional Ukrainian taste. The chef's sure hand embraces cooking techniques and spice combinations from not only the well-known Asian, Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean spectrum, but also extends to the more unusual such as The Republic of Georgia --one of the world's oldest wine producers and known for its incredible cuisine and food culture at the cross roads of central Asia and eastern Europe. My only sadness is their limited opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday and only until 7:00 pm. This food truck is worth traveling the ferry to Kingston from the east Puget Sound. read more

This is a food truck with very limited hours. It closes early even in the summer, and half the week it is closed. We had seen it for a long time and been meaning to try, but being workers with a long commute, the early closing time + limited schedule just didn't work for us. When we did get to go, the $20 salads just did not satisfy. Dinner for two rang at about $65 and all and it's just really too high a price for what you get, especially from a food truck. This place is very heavy on the legumes of all kinds, and on pickled and fermented goods. It's really their "thing". This ranges from the more typical (pickled veggies, kombucha, kimchi) to the really odd (sauerkraut chocolate cake, and such). There were Eastern European dishes, which was cool. Others were Mediterranean. So, a bit all over the place. If you are not a fan of pickled and fermented things, I'd suggest that you pass, because there's nothing on the menu for you! read more

I stopped by this evening to see what this new food truck in my neighborhood is all about. I met John, who is one of the owners. This is day three of them being open. They used to own Mossback restaurant in Kingston. The fermentation processing combined with fresh farm to table is their thing. The potato dumplings were tasty. The kimchi pancake was interesting. The cake had sauerkraut in it for extra moisture. It was very chocolatey. and dense, but easy for a couple of people to enjoy. It's just a bit sweet. More to come. read more

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff truly went above and beyond. I ordered the gyro, and it was fantastic--the homemade pita was soft, and the lamb was cooked to perfection. If you're in Kingston, definitely don't miss out on this place. read more

First timer: courtesy at the counter! A+ Didn't know what food they even served, had just seen the signs. Went to grab my wife and I lunch. Got her the Falafel Gyro and myself the Holubsti cabbage rolls! The gyro was excellent- plenty of flavor. Only could. It eat like a normal gyro- the falafel were big large balls, and along with all the other toppings of mixed greens and pickled vege, inside the fresh pita was too much! It was eaten with a knife and a fork! She ate half and I finished it! Very tasty- I would have like a side of extra tahini sauce! The cabbage roll was to try something different. I can tell I have not eaten a lot of barley in my life. Said in came in a tomato sauce, didn't see or taste that. Some of it was very al dente and some were done and softer. The cabbage rolls were filling but didn't have a lot of flavor that stood out. I added hot sauce and it was finished no problem. Again maybe a side of a sauce. $18 a plate. Fresh made! You have to determine if the price is high for what you get MADE and Prepared for you! We will try it again. Looks like they change menu sometimes! Kimchi waffle fries - chef's kiss. Lovely down to earth service. Gave my kids and I some samples of their on tap kombucha. Don't leave without some fermented hot sauce! Lovely, fresh, fast. We orders the Kimchi Waffles Fries, the Korean Pork Slider, Rhubarb Cake with Rosemary Ice Cream, and the Funky Fresh Salad. The salad was full of different seasonal veg as well as different pickled goods. An amazing deal for the price ($9)!!! Also a feast for the eyes. The Kimchi Waffle Fries are also the only thing I'd like to receive now when I ask for waffle fries. Using an actual waffle press is genius. They were hot, fresh, flavorful and the pickled ginger mayo was a perfect compliment. The Rhubarb cake with Rosemary Ice cream felt like an escalated version of an apple cake with vanilla ice cream. Soft and moist without being soggy, and the bit of melted ice cream into the cake did not hurt one bit. I will always stop by here when I'm passing. Could not recommend enough!!! 10/10 read more

Everything I've tried has been spectacular! The falafel is wonderfu, and the grain bowls are divine, but today, I had the Salmon Niçoise salad, and it was fantastic. YUM. Everything was fantastic - alive and full of flavor. We had a chilled polish beet soup (not borscht but similar, I don't recall the name), falafel, and the kimchi waffle fries. Really unique and tasty food - so much flavor! They feature stuff from local farms, and apparently the menu changes week to week. I had a pozole made from hominy & rabbit from local farms, my partner had a grain bowl with Ukrainian kasha (roasted buckwheat groats) that had local veggies and an amazing sauce. The quality is some of best food I've had around here, and is served out of a cool orange food truck by friendly folks who are happy to introduce you to the new & unusual offerings. You can also get Iggy's Kombucha or sauerkrauts & pickles. We bought a bottle of a fermented habanero garlic sauce called "Haba Mama" that was outrageously good. Prices were reasonable, about $7-18 depending on what item you order. They don't accept tips :-) read more

Such a wonderful little gem in our sweet community! We've tried everything on their menu from the last 2 weeks and have been there a total of 3 times. We've been *desperate* for some new and unique flavors in Kingston (VERY nice change of pace from cycling among the many burger, pizza and Mexican options we have). My only wish is that they had more gluten free options but I absolutely loved the grain bowl (ordered that twice!). Probably the most unique and delicious grain bowl I've ever had. Super fresh, tastes like a garden and all the colors in their foods are just beautiful. As for their non-gf items, my husband said the dumplings were the best he's had and those waffle fries were unbelievably satisfying, crispy on the outside and slight tang on the inside. We absolutely love everything from Iggy's (food to kombucha to Kvass) and we really hope more people from our community and visitors heading this way to/from the ferry get to enjoy this treat. We're really lucky to have them in Kingston and can't wait to keep trying more dishes! read more
