I had the pleasure of visiting the campus of Barry University last week. The property is immaculate…read moreand beautiful. I cherish the momemts I spent in the chapel. Everone on campus was warm and helpful. The security gaurd took the time to direct me to the building I needed across campus. I decided to walk instead of moving my car and I'm glad that I did. I enjoyed following the sidewalks to the large open courtyard where the chapel, admissions, and other buildings are located. It seems that Barry does not have that great of a ranking. I'm not sure why that is. If someone were looking for a small campus with low student population, Barry would be a good choice. I was just here to drop something off but would come back to attend an event as the campus is lovely.

I have been at Barry for approximately three years pursuing a degree in clinical laboratory science…read morewhich I then switched to prenursing. I currently in the Florida National Guard, which has been the means as to how I pay for my education at Barry. While attending I have endured a lot of hardships due to my service in the armed forces, I wouldn't necessarily call them military friendly. If you are prior service or still currently serving, I would recommend going to a larger institution in university with a stronger VA in my personal experience. The person in charge of the VA at Barry only works remotely and is never in person and also works with multiple branches so if you need specific help for your branch it's difficult. I have been told that every student has to be treated the same regardless of military status although my military status has been the reason I have been able to afford Barry and I have communicated properly no accommodations or ever been made. In addition, the dormitories tend to be very humid, which causes mold growth making me sick before. When brining this concern this to housing I was just told to get a dehumidifier . For such an expensive and prestigious school I would expect the quality to be better. If your expectations is to get your money's worth, their university will not meet them.

Today, i tried to go again and went in with jeans because i had just got out of class and wanted to work on my upper body just for a bit until my other class started. I got in and got a locker and nobody but the black bald guy notices that i have jeans on and says that I cannot work out with jeans. This frustrated me because why are you always looking at me when im trying to workout? Honestly, I think he has a problem with me because he's always looking at me and makes me feel uncomfortable. He's a weird guy bro. And obviously if you guys were to hang the sign up people would totally look at the sign and acknowledge it but no the sign is down and nobody is going to look down. Make it make sense badly.

The campus beautifully integrates lush greenery, open water views, and shaded walkways, creating an environment that feels both energizing and peaceful at the same time. What makes the experience especially unique is the architectural diversity. The blend of Art Deco influences, Brutalist structures, and modern design elements creates a refreshing visual rhythm throughout the campus. Each building feels intentionally placed, elegantly portrayed, and connected to its surroundings, allowing nature to become part of the design rather than simply a backdrop. A highlight of the visit is the Lowe Art Museum, which encompasses a thoughtfully curated selection of both modern and historical works. The collection feels balanced and accessible, allowing visitors to move naturally between different artistic periods and styles while maintaining a cohesive narrative. The best way to experience the University of Miami and the Lowe Art Museum is by walking the grounds on a fresh Miami day. The gentle breeze, filtered sunlight through the palms, and harmonious architecture make the visit feel less like a tour and more like a relaxing cultural escape. Ps. Easy access from the Metro Rail UM station... The result is an inspiring setting where academic life and aesthetic beauty coexist effortlessly, encouraging visitors to slow down and truly appreciate the space.

He donated the land and money with the mission of bringing a higher education institution to the growing South Florida community. The college adopted the nickname Hurricanes in memory of the devastating 1926 storm that hit the area just as the university opened. After the land boom bust the college struggled but it experienced significant growth after WWII. Their football program boosted them to national prominence leading to academic expansion. and they celebrated their 100 year anniversary last year. The University of Miami spans 240 acres on the main Coral Gables campus. It has a strong albeit expensive academic program including a medical school. Their colors are orange, green, and white representing Florida's citrus industry. The mascot is Sebastian the Ibis. The campus is park like with large trees, the man made Osceola lake from the 1940's in the center, and 1920's architecture with the oolite limestone Coral Gables is known for. I have visited the Lowe's Art Museum on campus and the Gifford Arboretum in the past and most recently I came for the Beaux arts Festival now in it's 75th year. Now could not be a better time to visit since UM is in the College Football Playoff National Championship against the Indiana Hoosiers. They have won five football championships since 1983 and we are hoping for number six. To make the famous UM hand gesture hold up your hands in front of you palms out and put your thumbs so they are touching and your hands form a U shape. UM fever has spread throughout the entire city of Miami with events happening in conjunction with the big game all weekend long. The highly anticipated game takes place Monday night. Go Canes!

When I finally met her in person, it was just for a split second but then we did a walk to class and she was mentioning about how she does a time management appointment as soon as she said that I went ahead and I booked the appointment with her and come to find out. Yes, she does help you with time management, but she's also your person. I talk to her about why I chose West Coast and how it's so student centric And what it means for me to become a nurse one day and she said she kind of saw herself in me with everything that has happened in my life and anytime that I need Diana for something I email her she responds to me very quick she's very fast she's an awesome advisor From the little time that i have known her I can tell that she does care for the students and the department and I could tell that she really does care for me and I even told her you know please hold my hand to help me with this entire process because I know it's going to get harder from here. if anyone wants to join West Coast University please do it is very student centric and they do care about you especially my advisor Diana honestly I know that if one day I have a meltdown I can go straight to her and she will calm me down. I love West Coast and the faculty and staff and I appreciate Diana Martinez very much because whenever I need her for anything, she's always there. So if you're hesitant on joining West Coast University, please read this and don't be hesitant anymore because it is a great school. Big THANK YOU to Diana for always helping me and checking in on me.
