I called ahead and was told there was a 15-minute grace period. I walked in at 11:16 AM, and Dr. Parikh flat-out refused to see me, providing zero explanation or flexibility for being one minute late. As a first-time expectant mom, these appointments mean the world to me. To be turned away after an hour of stressful driving was heartbreaking, but the attitude of the staff made it worse. The receptionists were completely unsympathetic and acted like I was a bother. A little kindness or a simple smile would have gone a long way, especially since turning me away means waiting another three weeks for an appointment. I ultimately decided not to reschedule. This experience completely ruined my trust in this practice, and I will not be returning.

We were quite sure Medstar wouldn't want me sitting in their waiting room, especially since there was no question of the diagnosis, and we were right. They referred us to their E-visit option. Shortly we received a sign-in text and started the process. It was much like filling out the information form for a visit at the facility. We had a couple of glitches, mostly our fault, but got signed in. Soon a screen popped up telling me that I was "in the waiting room and there were two patients ahead of me." It was nice to sit on my own couch, sipping coffee and cuddling with my puppy while I waited. It wasn't long before Opal signed in and we started our visit. Opal went over my meds and warned me of some interactions to look for when I started the Plaxlovid. Sure enough my blood pressure fluctuated and I had to adjust my bp meds. I was really impressed with the thoroughness of the visit, how pleasant Opal was, and how easy the whole process was.

sometimes their good sometimes their bad. went in around june because i knew that i was coming down…read morewith the flu or covid. both tests came back negative and the doctor then told me it was allergies. i have never had allergies before and asked if i could be prescribed something against the flu because i know my body and know it was coming. the doctor told me to take Claritin a month before my allergy symptoms usually come and sent me on my way. the next day i was so sick i couldn't get out of bed. ended up having covid symptoms d for 6 days. i wish the doctor had just listened to me, i know my body best. went again in august after returning from a europe trip because i had a splinter in my foot for the last 11 days. they took x-rays and checked my foot out and told me nothing was there. i then went to a foot doctor in the area and she took x-rays and found not only wood but also a piece of glass the size of my ring finger nail. turns out the urgent care didn't x-ray my foot correctly. they did correctly diagnose my mom with rsv tho and that doctor was super nice and explained everything well and answered all her questions. i've had good experiences as well such as when i had strep and the flu last year. it's a hit or miss honestly

From the first meeting I had with Dr. Possner, I knew things would be vastly different and that I had found someone that would have a profound impact on my health. My first appointment was the longest time I had ever spent with a doctor. My appointment was 2 hours and Dr. Possner had fully reviewed my medical records and engaged me in thoughtful conversation about my medical history. I left my initial appointment with a feeling of empowerment over my health that I had never really felt before. Little did I know that the impact of having Dr. Possner as my doctor would happen so quickly. I was on vacation and had an acute UTI. It was after business hours, but I was able to call the office and get the on call doctor that happen to be Dr. Possner. I walked him through my symptoms and he immediately called in a prescription for me. Because he had such knowledge of my history it was easy for us to communicate and talk through my symptoms. He checked on me via email through the client portal several times over the next couple of days to ensure I was ok. The fact that I was in a remote part of a different state and I was able to call and speak with the doctor saved me stress and the hassle of finding an urgent care to go to. He has made several recommendations to other specialists and doctors, all of whom have turned out to be amazing. His referral goes a long way with each specialist I have scheduled an appointment with. I can't recommend Dr. Possner enough; he's a great listener, thoughtful, caring, kind and you can tell he truly loves what he is doing. His follow through is simply amazing.

When I asked why I need exam and can I see and talk to the doctor, medical assistant came in the room no greeting, rude and arrogant. "Do ultrasound or cancel the appointment." No apology, no goodbye, she left the room. Medical assistant is NOT HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. They are unlicensed individuals who perform basic administrative, clerical, and routine technical supportive services in a medical office under the supervision of a physician or other licensed healthcare providers. They cannot substitute the role of medical provider, they cannot exercise independent medical judgments, medical assessments or give medical advice. Don't put your health at risk. Unprofessional, disrespectful and unethical practice.

The place is located in a townhouse strip of businesses on the pike side. Parking was easy enough. When I came in I immediately noticed it was a Chinese clinic as everyone was speaking Chinese and I was the only white person. That didn't really bother me though but it was just something I noticed. The place is also called Yun Yun Medical Clinic. The paperwork was a little annoying since it asked the same questions about three times, and then when the intake assistant takes you back, she asks the same questions again. Oh well. The other annoying part about the place is that the waiting room was filled with noisy kids. Since I had a headache that definitely didn't help. The parents didn't seem to care if their kids were loud. I was taken back in about fifteen minutes of arrival, only about 10 minutes after my appointment time, returned back to the lobby, then in an examination room in about 5 minutes. So a pro is that even if the place is filled, things move quickly. I saw Dr. Michael Wong. He's a young doctor probably born and raised in the US. He seemed fairly knowledgeable and was very nice. He was thorough and friendly. He didn't mind when I called my pharmacy and had to press 300 prompts to find out what time they were open until. He's a really nice guy and cute too! He sent the scripts online directly to the pharmacy for me. I didn't have a mess of paperwork to take back with me. So sure, if I need to go to urgent care I'd come back. The place was clean. The people are nice. The doctor seems to know what he's doing. You don't feel like an outsider if you don't speak Chinese. The only big downside was the small lobby filled with noisy kids, each parent/grandparent set had 2-5 of them. Oh yes, you do need to call ahead to make an appointment. That's easy enough to do since I got an appointment scheduled for 30 minutes after my call time.

The rates are reasonable, especially when you lose your insurance and are paying out of pocket. If you are making a co-pay, it could average $20-$30 depending on your policy. The space is an old house that has been an office for probably 40 years. It really should not be an office. There isn't any privacy when you speak to the office staff. The waiting room fits about 10 patients. Additional seats are placed outside for "overflow" but the weather isn't always pleasant for sitting outside. Not all patients follow the instructions not to use a cellphone while in the office. I have watched up to three patients having loud conversations in the waiting area. The office staff are "hit or miss." They were extremely kind to me when I was dealing with my father's death and not able to fully concentrate on anything they said. The staffers will also fax prescriptions to the pharmacy of my choosing. I have also had experiences where the staffers were abrupt when it wasn't necessary. There isn't any pattern to how you will be treated on a visit. My feeling is if you are consistently kind, you never need to worry how to treat a patient. Parking is limited at the office but if you drive around the corner, you can safely park in the neighborhood. Takoma Metro is approx a mile away and there is a bus stop half a block from this location. Dr. Kango cares about her patients and is the reason I keep returning. An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but she is worth seeing.
