This review is for Medstar E-visit. March was the month of Covid for my family. Rich got it early in the month and sure enough two weeks later I tested positive. We were quite sure Medstar wouldn't want me sitting in their waiting room, especially since there was no question of the diagnosis, and we were right. They referred us to their E-visit option. Shortly we received a sign-in text and started the process. It was much like filling out the information form for a visit at the facility. We had a couple of glitches, mostly our fault, but got signed in. Soon a screen popped up telling me that I was "in the waiting room and there were two patients ahead of me." It was nice to sit on my own couch, sipping coffee and cuddling with my puppy while I waited. It wasn't long before Opal signed in and we started our visit. Opal went over my meds and warned me of some interactions to look for when I started the Plaxlovid. Sure enough my blood pressure fluctuated and I had to adjust my bp meds. I was really impressed with the thoroughness of the visit, how pleasant Opal was, and how easy the whole process was. read more

sometimes their good sometimes their bad. went in around june because i knew that i was coming down with the flu or covid. both tests came back negative and the doctor then told me it was allergies. i have never had allergies before and asked if i could be prescribed something against the flu because i know my body and know it was coming. the doctor told me to take Claritin a month before my allergy symptoms usually come and sent me on my way. the next day i was so sick i couldn't get out of bed. ended up having covid symptoms d for 6 days. i wish the doctor had just listened to me, i know my body best. went again in august after returning from a europe trip because i had a splinter in my foot for the last 11 days. they took x-rays and checked my foot out and told me nothing was there. i then went to a foot doctor in the area and she took x-rays and found not only wood but also a piece of glass the size of my ring finger nail. turns out the urgent care didn't x-ray my foot correctly. they did correctly diagnose my mom with rsv tho and that doctor was super nice and explained everything well and answered all her questions. i've had good experiences as well such as when i had strep and the flu last year. it's a hit or miss honestly read more

The intake was very pleasant, polite and efficient. The PA was very good as were the other in-person personnel (EKG, X-RAY). My concern was with the physician who spoke to me via Telehealth visits. She did not listen to me and did not have accurate knowledge. She did not address the problem, instead she told me to see my cardiologist immediately to change my blood pressure medication. Firstly, one of my medications (atenolol) was not even listed on my paperwork even though I had put it down as one of my medications; t should have been in my chart from previous Telehealth visits for this bout of sinusitis. The physician apparently was not aware that the prescribed antibiotic, Azithromycin, could cause my symptoms: chest pain and headache. I wanted to eliminate the possibility that I had pneumonia or bronchitis. I am relieved that I do not have either of these and have eliminated them, but I came away very angry and skeptical about the care and competence of MedStar Urgent Care and will avoid this service in the future. read more

Ms. Orvalle was very kind and extremely helpful to us that day, doing her best to help us get what was needed. Also the doctor, whose name I do not know, gave us what we needed very quickly. Terrible service took over 40 minutes in my room to see a doctor to don't recommend coming here

The worst place ever. They charged me $50 just to take me to an exam room and tell me in 2 minutes that they couldn't do anything and that I should go to the ER or book an appointment somewhere else. The doctor didn't even examine or touch me -- she just said there was nothing she could do for my abdominal pain. This is outrageous, extremely frustrating and unfair. Don't go to that place -- they'll just steal your money. read more

Horrible, made appointment for my son for 12:48 pm, it was 2:30 pm and he was still not seen, he had to work at 3:00 pm, and all he was told prior to him leaving Medstar is that he lacked oxygen. While at work, he received a vm from Medstar saying that a prescription was ready for what? Who knows! My son gets to cvs and there is no prescription waiting and then they called Medstar only to be told call back tomorrow to get it sent to cvs, what a crock of BS! Not too long ago my daughter was seen there, service was also horrible and was only given something for her ear infection (which didn't work aftet a week of taking it) and nothing for her cough. She had to go back after a week for another consultation and another prescription which still didn't do crap. These people are so incompetent and unprofessional, no courtesy at all and don't take into consideration the time people sit there and wait, what the hell is the point of making an appointment? I got knocked on my azz by something earlier in the week. My mother had to come to my place and bring me here. Was able to reserve a spot online for the evening. Parking lot surface. Social distant chairs in the waiting room. Was able to be seen about 30 minutes after arriving and filling out paperwork. I had to ask for a Flu test since my Covid test was negative. Would have thought they would have done this to also rule out flu but they came right in and performed that test. Took some tylenol as prescribed there and was feeling 50% better before the night was over. read more

I was seen at both the Silver Spring and Wheaton urgent care centers on the same day (Sunday) for an injury (broken bone). (Assessed at Silver Spring, went to Wheaton for an x-ray.) Somehow MY PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION ("PII") AND PRIVATE HEALTHCARE INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED BY A PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE. Two days after I was seen by MedStar (Tuesday) I was called by someone who asked for me by name, said they were "associated" with MedStar, and told me that their attornies "could help me receive monetary compensation for my injury." So they knew my name and phone number (Personally Identifiable Information, "PII"), the fact that I had recieved medical treatment, and specifically what the teatment was for: an "injury" (all private healthcare information covered by HIPAA). The same day I was contacted by the lawyer referral I submitted a 'patient feedback form' (customer satisfaction survey) to MedStar with this same information. One day later (Wednesday) I was contacted by the 'patient experience coordinator' for MedStar who told me: (1) absolutely not, they do not sell or otherwise provide PII or healthcare informtion to any lawyer (lawyer group, referral service, etc.); (2) something very similar, almost identical, happend in the past year or two; (3) in those cases it was a data theft / bad actor that MedStar addressed directly; (4) the patient feedback coordinator offered her sincere apoligies, acknowledged that what happened was likely a HIPAA violation and as such is very serious for their own reputation as well as a regulatory / compliance violation, assured me she was escalating to senior management (because of reputational damage and the HIPAA / compliance violation), and apologized again. From my 10 minute conversation with the patient experience coordinator I do believe what she told me. I changed my rating here from 1 star to 3 stars. I'm satisfied with the service and care I recieved from both MedStar locations (5 stars) but of course I'm very displeased with everything else (1 star). read more

Visit date: 4/28/22. I came with flu like symptoms, and an incredibly stiff neck and migraine that had last for days. I wanted to discuss potential meningitis and I had been exposed recently and my symptoms aligned with those of meningitis. I had previously received three negative Covid tests, and after a fourth negative test at this urgent care, I wanted to rule out Covid and move to my concern. The Dr/nurse would not stop interrupting me. Truly every time she'd ask a question, I would get about 5 words out before she would talk loudly over me and tell me what my symptoms are, which were incorrect. I asked her to please let me finish and that I was getting frustrated because I was continually interrupted. She didn't acknowledge that ask, and interrupted me on the very next sentence. I felt my symptoms were (inaccurately) told to me instead of relayed by me. Despite me saying I had meningitis exposure and now recent 4 negative Covid tests, I was told it was Covid, and no other options were explored. I ended up asking for the appointment to end immediately, and that no work/actions other than the already completed rapid test should be taken. I could not complete one single sentence to this medical provider. And these were answers to questions she was asking me! **As of 5/17/22, I've received ZERO response from the facility on my feedback survey, detailed Google review, and in-house complaint other than a vague blurb-like comment on the public Google review. Currently waiting here due to food poisoning from dinner at Sax on 4/20/19. Waited over an hour for wife to get her vitals checked, then she came out and we are now waiting for a room to open up. We did not have an appt, came and signed in. Waiting area seems clean and organized, receptionists seem nice and personable. Think this location used to be a blockbuster years back, but many shops next door like sweet frog, papa john, H mart, etc. read more

We made an appointment and we're seen promptly. My husband (who we now know has a fractured femur) wa struggling in the parking lot to walk, using me and a cane as crutches. Someone inside saw us and came out with a wheelchair. Everyone was extremely nice and efficient. When they had the x-ray results and knew he had to see an orthopedic surgeon right away, they made arrangements for him to go to the MedStar ER so that we wouldn't have to wait languishing in an ER. I got here at 8:15 am. It is now 10:36 am, and all we've done is fill out paperwork, have vitals taken, and get assigned an examination room. Had I known the wait would have been this long...I'd have taken him to RightTime clinic in Olney. This feels like ER wait times! My son is being checked out because of an injury while playing. The location is clean, the front desk representative was cordial and efficient, and the medical staff taking his vitals was friendly... but this wait is insane. A gentleman with generally the same issue came in and make so much of a stink about the wait and how he was in pain that they wheeled him in the back after about 25 minutes. I guess I should have had my kid be extremely vocal about HIS pain--we may not STILL be waiting. I don't think I'll ever come back here if I need urgent medical care. Below, you'll read a live account of our time here as we wait. 10:44 am: The doctor came in to check him out. Very nice and efficient. 10:51 am: They wheeled him out for x-rays. 10:59 am: He's back, and we're told it's a 20-30 minute wait for x-ray results. 11:11 am: We get his results. 11:24 am: We are done. Ultimately, the service we received was quite adequate...but the wait time gives me SERIOUS pause. We spent more time waiting vs. actually seeing medical professionals. If they can better manage the wait time, I would recommend this office. read more

Now I have been to this MedStar before for a similar medical concern and even around the same time (after work) and it was a drastically different experience. Relatively quick and fairly easy. And because they are literally a 5 minute walk away from my home, it is really convenient. But today's experience was the complete opposite and extremely aggravating enough to turn me off of this place completely. My appointment was at 6:30pm. I was not even called back until a few minutes after 7:00pm. Mind you, I was there before my scheduled time. Around 7:00pm, I got my vitals taken and was put in an exam room. At which, I was not even seen for about AN HOUR!!! With not so much as a employee just to apologize and let me know that they were busy, as they claimed. I had to come out after 30 minutes of waiting just to ask if I was going to be seen at all. The two women (one of which would end up doing my exam--a taller, slimmer, 30/40 something year old, blonde haired women) just stated they were busy and was dismissive and stated she would be in there when she could. Then I was told I had 2 people in front of me. During that waiting period, I had plenty of time to go back and read the reviews on this place and realized I was not the only one that had this problem. Several people reported waiting for unacceptable periods of time, like HOURS. Just Ridiculous! Well, about 35 minutes later, the women who was at the front FINALLY came in at 8:04pm. She asked her brief questions regarding symptoms and then asked me about taking a medication that I clearly stated on the paper, I couldn't take. That only let me know that she didn't even review the paper. Funny how two patients ahead of me took nearly an hour but she was literally in and out for me. A total of maybe 7 minutes with me tops. And what is worse? SHE DIDN'T EVEN PROVIDE AN APOLOGY! Not so much as a "My apologies" or "I'm so sorry for the delay". Nothing. No remorse, no common courtesy or decency, consideration of my time or nothing. I'd like to think I'm a pretty understanding person and often give people the benefit of the doubt. And I'm a therapist so communication is a big deal for me. A bit of communication would have made this experience for me less upsetting. COMMUNICATE OR CHECK IN WITH YOUR PATIENTS! Or at least pop in to let them know you didn't forget about them!!! Anyways, I finally left at about 8:20pm. And even had to have my prescription sent to another pharmacy because the one I originally chose closed at 8pm. What was supposed to be like a 1-1 1/2 plan turned into a whole nearly 3 hour ordeal including picking up the prescription from a further pharmacy! So the experience was just all around a headache. And to know that I'm going to actually have to pay them for this mediocre and disappointing service is also super upsetting. I will do WHATEVER I can to make sure I don't ever have to come here again! If you can stand to go elsewhere for medical services, PLEASE DO!!! read more

Update: We came back in again for a doctor's note for work. The doctor we had this time was different, she was okay at first. But then she started getting very impatient and annoyed when I asked her about something regarding the doctor's note and a mistake on it. She made a typo in it, which I can understand because she's only human and people make mistakes. But in the second doctor's note she made, she STILL made a mistake on it. It felt like she was going to blow up at us if we asked her about it again so we just took it and left. She made me and my injured dad feel like a nuisance and like we were bothering her. If you don't urgently have to go here, PLEASE DO NOT. I don't want anyone else to have the same experience I did. Second Update: I've filled out their patient feedback form that they linked to their reply of my review. I hope it does something. My update on Yelp is just to let others know of my experience and to help people decide on whether or not to go here. My dad was still in pain 20 days after going to Urgent Care, so we went to another doctor to get a second opinion. The doctor we got a second opinion from HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH URGENT CARE. THIS DOCTOR ACTUALLY TOOK GOOD CARE OF US. He did an x-ray and clearly showed us the x-ray and pointed out details to us. He showed us that there were fractures. And despite my dad having little knowledge about x-rays, even he could see that there were fractures. What I personally think happened was the first doctor at Urgent Care either was too incompetent to see the fractures, or she lied to us saying there were no fractures. That would make sense because at no point did she give us the x-ray and she wouldn't show it to us. My dad is angry and upset due to his awful experiences at Urgent Care. Third Update: Filled out the patient feedback form they listed. That did nothing, no email back, no call. Again, very pointless if it's not going to affect anything. read more

Took my preschooler there when he had tonsillitis and a spiking fever and I have never had such terrible care provided by a healthcare professional. When the physician's assistant looked in his ear and he said "Ow!" she yelled (actually yelled) at him "it's not an owie!" This was the least of my concerns though. They were completely incapable of providing care to a young child. Not to mention, the PA was rude to both me and my child. Because MedStar physicians are overbooked and I couldn't get in to see anyone in my doctor's practice (He is out indefinitely.), I made an appointment for this location, which has one of the highest ratings... at 3 stars. I was seen right away. The person at the front desk was warm and friendly. The music was soothing. My vitals were taken within about 5-10 minutes of my arrival. The technician whose name I wish I had written down was also warm and friendly. Thirty minutes after I arrived I was seeing the Physicians Assistant, who was also very nice. I thought I had an infection but the test was negative. However, we still went through a whole exam, but there is only so much that can be diagnosed at the MedStar urgent care. The people I met were doing their best with the conditions provided them. It is just sad that this is what healthcare has come to. You go to an urgent care to see a PA rather than see your doctor because you can't get in because MedStar is buying up practices and hospitals and then squeezing them like turnips. With each hospital or other health-entity they acquire like the Borg, we're less and less connected to anyone following our care or who cares. read more

I go in for a recurring Uti simple right! No, I don't have insurance so I Signed up for star pass and was told it would only be $180 and it would've been more if I paid for care individually. So I paid the $180, Then I am told that they have to send out urine for further tests that would only be $60. I get a bill for $156 far from $60. So I thought that was the end of it but then I get a bill from them that I owe $53 more! Really, just be honest with people about the cost! That's all! Just avoid this place! read more

I've had a wide range of experiences here but today's left me so upset. I walked in to Promptcare and was greeted by the person at the desk. There were two other patients in the waiting room, so I didn't inquire about wait time. I was asked to fill out the paperwork, give my copay and fill out the patient login on their iPad. After this, I went to sit down and wait for my turn. I noticed my name at the bottom of a screen that indicated my wait time would be TWO HOURS. I thought I had made a mistake but was told that this was indeed the wait time. I asked why I wasn't told about the long wait at any point throughout check in. She had no response. I told her that if I wanted to wait two hours, I would go to an ER. She said they are running a four hour wait. She said this as if I should be grateful that they could see me in half the time. I asked for my copay to be refunded and told her they should rename themselves. She said it was just a name. FYI- just a name, not actually what they represent or would like to provide. She stated they only had one physician and that they were getting the people who didn't want to wait at the ER. I pointed out they might want to call in another doctor. They are Medstar- how do they not have more doctors?!?! So I left and will not be coming back. I went to Access Now Urgent Care (right on Georgia Ave) and was seen and treated in a half hour. I will be writing up a positive review for them but want to encourage you, if you are reading this in Medstar (not so) Promptcare's waiting room and think there aren't better options near there, there are. read more

We were asked to come to this MedStar location from Olney so we can get an x-ray done at the Wheaton location. We were told because we were already seen, it would be only a 15-20 minute visit. We are now waiting almost an hour to be seen. The staff at the Wheaton location is extremely rude, accuses other locations of lying, and is unable to give estimated time to be seen. I don't recommend either of these locations. read more

I cannot stand this place. This is absolutely The last time I come here. My primary care physician is always booked which made me come here today. The last time I came here they misdiagnosed me and told me I had nothing wrong. Then I went to my primary care physician two days after because the issue continued. They told me I had strep throat. The three times I have been here, I always feel like they're rushing to get you out of there. Today one of the nurses came to do a swab for the flu. It was uncomfortable and hurt a bit and he continued to hit far up in my nose and he really did not seem empathetic to how he was making me feel. He acted more annoyed than anything. I would not recommend this place. These people don't even deserve a co-pay. Update: AND, today (the next day) I went to my primary care doctor, guess what? I HAVE STREP THROAT! Yes, same exact scenario for the second time. I was livid! Not only did they jeopardize my health but I also have 6 month old twins at home. I think one of them is coming down with something and I have to take him to the doctor, first thing in the AM. read more

I went there Saturday night and called Wed for lab results. The machine I left my message on said that someone would return my call by 4:00 P.M. the same day. They did not call. I called again today to give them a piece of my mind and again got a machine. Hours later, a man called back admitting that they had lost the lab sample and asked me to come down for another one. This means it could be almost 2 weeks before I find out what bacteria or fungus or virus is afflicting me so that my condition can be treated specifically. A person could die of an infection in that period of time. read more

I went here last Saturday fairly certain I had a yeast infection. I told the doctor my symptoms and she agreed that it sounded like one to her as well. Once I told her that I had been taking an antibiotic, she said she was certain and said she didn't need to exam me...uh...wait a minute. ..I asked her to exam me regardless of her "certainty"... That's what it turned out to be but the experience left me disappointed. Don't people go to the doctor for definitive answers not just a prescription? Not prompt at all. We came in as walk-in on Sunday morning and expected a wait time. Initially the wait time was about an hour and a half. But after two hours, when asked what our wait time would be, they couldn't say and said there are ten people ahead of us with appointments. So we mentioned that we would come back with an appointment later in the day. We were still explained that we would still have to wait with an appointment for the walkins ahead of us. This didn't make any sense; so we wait for folks with appointments when we are walk-ins and still we wait for other walkins even if we had an appointment. Essentially a run around. Mentioned that we would leave shortly not knowing the wait time going forward. Next we are told that we are being triaged in the next 5 mins. Squeaky wheel gets the oil I guess. read more

The service It's not free I'm paying for it and they don't have it up on their website either so I've waisted my time to get dined for a paid service. I just don't get it. My arm randomly pulled out of its socket while I was driving. Clearly I didn't expect for this to happen. I'm in tremendous pain but luckily for me (or so I thought) I was close my this urgent care center. I explained the situation to the lady at the front desk and she refused for me to be seen because I didn't have my insurance card on me for this unplanned emergency. I'm so upset. My arm is in pain. This place is awesome, staff was super competent, efficient, and best of all friendly. Sliced my finger while slaving over this house project for my sister. Perhaps she will be more grateful for all the free work I'm doing for her after this but thats another story! Well so they saw me inside of 20 minutes, even helped me fill out the paperwork since my hand was a bit useless. Everyone was super friendly and the NP, I think her name was Sheila stitched it right up. She made it look easy! They even updated my tetanus shot and the best part of all, my new CFBSBS HMO was accepted and I didn't have a co-pay! I see these Medstar Prompt Care clinics all around DC and they sure as hell beat sitting in the wretched ER! read more

While one doesn't want to have to go an Urgent Care facility, when you need to do you want it to be caring, professional and able to see you promptly. Such was the case with my visit to MedStar Prompt Care in Wheaton. I had injured my leg and needed stitches. The nursing staff and front desk were very caring, the doctor skilled, and the entire process very good. It took just I around an hour from the time I checked in until I was on my way out read more

Fundamentally incompetent! Checked in at 10am. Got an hour and a half wait time. 10 min before scheduled time was pushed back 59 min. 10 min before rescheduled time pushed back another 61 min. Either your scheduling system is broken, your doctors/staff are terrible at managing their time, or you are allowing people to just cut in line. Any way you slice it is unacceptable practice for a medical facility. I expect a response with an explanation and apology if you expect my business ever again. read more

Everytime i have come here there has been terrible patient care. I have been waiting for over an hour after making an appointment and arriving in advance of my appointment time. Do not come here unless you have an entire day to waste. Last time I came they gave me antibiotics without waiting to see the test results - which were negative! I saw S. Lisse, PA-C , she was very personable and friendly. Most importantly I signed up for a appointment time online before arriving, and I waited for maybe five minutes. I will definitely recommend MedStar Prompt Care - Wheaton to my family , friends, and neighbors. read more
