I was recently in Illinois for a friend's wedding in Oak Brook. We were staying at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center. Two bridesmaids needed our dresses steamed before the wedding on Sunday evening. I read about CD One Price's "in by 10a and out by 5p" offer. I dropped off the dresses Saturday and planned to pick them up later that day between 5p and 7p when they closed. Following the rehearsal and subsequent rehearsal lunch, one of the bridesmaids had a medical issue and required attention at an urgent care facility. Due to the focus paid to the situation at hand, we did not make it back to pick up the dresses before 7p. By the time the situation was resolved, I realized the dresses would not be available to us until Monday (the day after the wedding) since they were closed on Sunday. I desperately worked to contact the names I found on the website (Mr. Ryan, Mr. Shankland) via LinkedIn to see if they could contact someone at the Downers Grove location. To my shock, Mr. Ryan both replied to my message and reached out via text and a phone call while he was out of town with his wife. He quickly coordinated with the local store franchise owner and an employee waited for me to come to pick up the dresses. Mr. Shankland also replied the next morning and offered to do the same thing (contact the local shop to see if they were willing to allow me to pick up the dresses). I can't express to you the gratitude I have for Mr. Ryan taking time to help me with this issue. While none of this happening was anyone except my fault, all three employees involved acted as though it was no issue and were happy to help. I can't imagine the disruption it would have caused at the wedding if two of the bridesmaids didn't have their dresses. I am sure the employees, the franchise owner, and Mr. Ryan all had better things to do at 9pm on Saturday night. I even offered to pay an additional fee for picking up the dresses after hours and they would not accept additional payment. Thank you again for your exemplary customer service. Would give zero stars if I could. We've been regular customers for 6 years. They lost a button on a jacket that was dry cleaned. When I brought the item to them they accused me of lying and said that they'd never dry cleaned the item. Why would anyone lie about a button? Avoid at all costs. Even when they aren't damaging or losing your items, their work is sub-par at best. read more

This place has terrible customer service. I was in town for a work conference and I dropped items off on a Monday. I asked how long it would take to compete and was told one day. I came back on Thursday and was told only 1 item was complete and that my jacket would be done the next day. I call on Friday and they try and tell me that it won't be done until Monday. read more

this place is the absolute worst. 1. leave stuff there for 30 days? they get rid of it. 2. their ironing absolutely SUCKS. I actually looked before i left this time and showed the girl at the counter how wrinkled my shirts were and she said "well we pressed them"....i would never in my life do such garbage work and take money and then not offer to redo them?!?! hard to believe that I went to the same store they are talking about. Never more than 24 hours after I drop things off. My wife had some old wool slacks that needed a new lining. They asked me to have her come in for a fitting but I said "just copy the old linings and put a new zipper in also". they did an excellent job, but the fit was not good. They said that they would redo it only if my wife came in for a fitting (we live in Wisconsin and I have an office in Westmont). The next time my wife was in Chicago (about three months later) we went to the store and they redid the liners and the fit was perfect. The cost never came up in the conversation (you pay when you drop off at One Price). Unbelievable - I would have expected to have to pay for the material at least. It does bother me to take a heavy winter coat in with a tie and be charged the same price for each but both come back just perfect. Shirts come back like they just came from the manufacturer. Always pleasant workers. I have never had custom ironing done and have two tux shirts that need cleaning. After these other reviews I will call and ask first about the ironing and will write a review after I get the shirts back. If they can do tux shirts, any other shirt soulld b e no problem read more

I just had the worst retail shopping experience ever. I walked in with my normal load of dry cleaning and explained that my wife has been unhappy with the pressing of her Capri slacks. I told him (and I "think" it's the owner) that they were coming back looking like they had barely been touched. I further explained that she was at the point of not wanting to return if they didn't improve. Could he attach a note or in some other way indicate that they needed to be pressed properly? He walked around the counter, handing me back the pants and said I should go someplace else if we weren't happy. There was another dry cleaner up the street, he added. I said, "You've got to be kidding." He replied, "No, go somewhere else if you're not happy." I promised to give his establishment an online review, so here I am. I only gave them a "1" rating because there was nothing lower. My advice is to not do business with this dry cleaner as they clearly don't value your business. read more

This place is garbage. We took a king sized, white comforter to get it cleaned and it came back with yellow staining all over it. Of course the employee doesn't want to admit they created the problem. Additionally we had an off-white rug cleaned here that came back tinted yellow. Comparing it to another one of the same brand and color made it very obvious it was stained by them. read more

Ruined my jacket. They offered to go to the store to exchange a new one since it's "a factory defect" (so they said). However, instead of getting my consent first, they went ahead and got a store credit, which was $100 less than what I had paid for. I mean is that just plain stupid or what? Especially I gave them my receipt AND credit card statement. It shows how much the jacket is! Store owner then said because they called and I didn't answer, that's why they made the decision on their own. Are you kidding me?! And how dare he actually said "we went above and beyond" and "not our mistake". What a joke. Ended up losing $100 and a precious jacket I loved. Won't be back. I've had this conversation at least 3x in the last year and twice since then the sweaters were all on hangers and the top buttons weren't even closed. Your staff stood there looking at me like I was crazy when I asked why they weren't done right. They told me "we know it's on the record but we don't fold it." If you're trying to attract the dungarees and sweatshirt market then your level of customer service is perfect. I work in professional services, so if I show up with hanger points sticking out of my shoulders it's a reflection on my professionalism. The first time I went there I brought ten dress shirts. All the shirts looked great - sometimes you "get what you pay for" and you certainly don't want to bring nice shirts to a dry cleaner just because they are cheap. I was disappointed to see that one of my best shirts had a rip in the sleeve by the button. I filled out the claim form and they gave me cash a week later. They were pretty easy to work with despite the inconvenience, and I happily keep going back! I also like that they have FREE Starbucks for customers, that's a great reason to go. Avoid at all costs. They shrunk all of my dress pants and shirts. I live in the city and have an unpredictable work schedule so it has been hard for me to get to a dry cleaners. I went to them because I had a meeting in the area so it was convenient. Going to have to drive out to DG again to see if they can do anything about the clothes that have been ruined. I have been to a couple of their locations, in which this one is still my favorite. The price is truly right...at $2.49 an item...you can't beat it. The staff is friendly, fast and very efficient. I never have to wait, as even when more busy...the staff keeps it moving. Since I love my clothing, I dry clean alot of it....hence the reason I have clothing from 10 years ago that look brand new!! I am a huge fan of them and by far this is my fav location of their's!! I do appreciate that if there is anything ever missed...they will re-do it for you no charge with no hassle. I only had it occur once, as mistakes do happen :). Overall, I have been more than happy and appreciate the fact that I can get my dry cleaning done without having to sell a kidney!! read more

Not too much to add from the other reviewers. I'll get my shirts done here and my suits and ties done when I need it. I don't have many special needs that way. I will second what was said here that they are not good at getting out stains. After a couple of fails I will now take those garments somewhere else and I likely stay away from anything else that requires details. It is an assembly line, plain and simple, and I don't really expect the people behind the counter to be more superficially friendly than they have to. I'll keep going back for the staples. read more

I have been going to the CD One in Naperville for several months and have had a great experience. I actually take my dry cleaning there vs. the city because you cannot beat the price & friendly service. It is amazing particularly for dress shirts, slacks and everyday dry cleaning. They do not do dresses with embellishments (se-quince, etc.) but everything else they do. One time I inadvertently left some cash in a pair of pants and they called to tell me. They take the clothes in like programed robots, no hello and never a thank you. I leave feeling like my dropping off clothes was a huge imposition. I'm sure there are other business out there that especially in this day and age conduct business with a greater focus on the customer rather than just getting through the day. WORST PLACE EVER. I WOULD AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Not only do shirts come out with wrinkles pressed into them, they will lose your clothes and not do anything about it. I took a pair of suit pants in, they gave them to the wrong customer. I asked if we could look up the customer and call to let them know they told me they don't have a system that can track that. Waited two weeks for them to be returned and never were. Filed a claim for a reimbursement, was told by two employees, one being the supervisor, that I would be reimbursed the full cost of the suit since it is no longer wearable without the pants and I was told YES!. On two separate occasions I was told this. Long Story short the check comes in the mail and it is for less then 1/5 the cost of my suit. I was told this is based on the fair claim standard bs they use. Asked for the fair claim standard information and was never given it. Long story short, I took my pants in before 10am, showed up at 5pm to pick them up and they were given to someone else. In less then 8 hrs they managed to lose me quiet a bit of money because I had to go out and replace the items they lost on my own since I was not paid they amount my suit was worth as I was previously told. I would never use this location or any other CD One price cleaners. They are a rip off, and you would be better off paying the extra dollar any other place would charge. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs. What a nightmare! I apologize in advance for what is a somewhat lengthy and somewhat extra-emphasis-ridden review - but I had to find somewhere to vent my frustrations over this awful experience! Last year when I discovered this store near my home, I was so excited to find dry-cleaning that was a 'great deal'. On perhaps my 4th visit ever to the store on Ogden, I gave them 2 dresses, a shirt, and a white cotton top with a pleated neckline. When I came to pick up the garments, I noticed nothing wrong. When I got home, I realized they had HIDDEN my white cotton top between the other garments, and it was obvious why: (a) the pleating around the neck was completely ruined, and the stitching was coming out, and (b) the stain I took it in for was still there. I immediately returned to the store and began the claims process in order to have them reimburse me for the ruined blouse. That was almost 7 months ago. I will spare you the dirty (pun intended?) details, but these people have no sense of customer service or decency. They claim that their dry-cleaning process is perfect and that the incident must have been due to a 'manufacturer's defect'. Total rubbish. They refuse to reimburse me AT ALL (their receipt states that they will give a max refund of $50 for any item, no exceptions) and have made me pursue them for these past 7 months because they do not return phone calls, do not take initiative, and will do anything to avoid having to pay you what you are due. Additionally, corporate CD One Price is no help because the stores are franchised and corporate employees will simply refer you to the particular store's manager for remediation (frustrating). Never before have I encountered a business model like this - with complete lack of customer service AND responsibility. I realize that you 'generally get what you pay for', but in this case, I STILL paid for what I... didn't... pay for. I lost over $140 in clothing/necessary replacements and HOURS of time trying to resolve the issue fairly. I'm not sure if all CD One Price cleaners are like this, but honestly - if you have the option - STAY AWAY from the CDOP on Ogden. I wish I had. read more

Instead of trying to come up with a solution, he walked away. I have had too many garments missing and spent too much time trying to retrieve my own clothes back. CD is an awesome place on Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove! Everyone working there has such a positive attitude. Nora always has a smile on her face when I see her. I love the emails they send to remind you your clothes are ready and the turnaround time is fabulous. I am a fan that will keep going there as I know it's a family-owned franchised.
