I'm clearly striking out lately. I stopped in for an early lunch as I was craving enchiladas. I requested the Enchiladas Supemas. That includes a ground beef, chicken, cheese and onion, and one bean. The server, Victor, took it upon himself to make them all chicken. When I mentioned this was not the suprema- Victor informed me I was responsible for telling him to make sure it was all the various meats. Add to that, they don't crisp the tortilla, the cheese couldn't even melt. It was just wet sauce over a tortilla with chicken. I'm a little outdone at the level of "don't give a shit". That ended that. I should have just ate the chips!!! Lesson learned. I don't send food back. I either eat it or take a loss, today I took a loss. Cebollas next to Glenbrook Mall had always been our go-to Mexican restaurant for 20+ years in Fort Wayne. That was back in the days when casual dining Mexican restaurants weren't all that common. In the years since we've been gone from Fort Wayne, Mexican restaurants in the US have become as ubiquitos as McDonalds restaurants. They're everywhere now, and on some days, I feel like I've been to nearly all of them. Coming back to Cebollas after nearly 10 years, I fully expected it to have lost its appeal and/or to have declined considerably. Keep in mind - as of the date of this writing, we're still in the middle of an apocalyptic COVID-induced restaurant meltdown. However, I'm pleased to report that Cebollas hasn't lost anything. It's still at or near the top of my all-time list, in terms of food quality and service. It was everything I remembered it to be. read more

Staff was really nice but food was all wrong. My boyfriend ordered 2 burritos with chicken, cheese, rice, and lettuce and the burrito only has chicken in it. I ordered a plain chicken quesadilla, and it has a bunch of stuff in it i don't like, only thing good in the order was the chips and the rice&beans. Amazing restaurant that always delivers the best! Jose was our server, and he was incredibly busy, but so attentive to us. We felt like we were the only ones there! First of all, the atmosphere and environment when you walk in is absolutely impeccable and all in all, authentic. I love the big margarita glass for photo ops -- especially when my college football team just lost to another college football team and my friend is wearing a really big t shirt she wore as a dress. anyways, the food was fantastic and the service was even better! However, one thing this establishment could work on is the fact that my friend, who I will say, is 14, was almost denied the opportunity to order off of the kids menu, but the waiter quickly understood and got over the notion that she was older than she said she was (not sus). Pretty good Mexican food for a chain in Fort Wayne IN. I was actually pleasantly surprised at this place. It's in the middle of a not so great area. It's located off a side street. The decor is pretty normal. Lots of Mexican tile & bright colored tables, chairs & Mexican memorabilia. Lighting is fine. Music is standard Mexican tunes., Plenty of flat screen TV's in the bar area. I ordered a S'Quiela, a grapefruit flavored agave bottle drink. It was good. Not too sweet. Refreshing. I would order it again. Be great on a hot summer day at the beach. Corn Chips were standard. Not freshly made in house. Salsa was pretty standard but a bit garlicky which I loved. I ordered the Enchiladas Sabrosa with one chicken. Chicken enchiladas were a DEFINITE NO. Funky taste. Just not good quality meat. It happens all the time at Mexican restaurants. And it's a huge bummer. Shredded beef enchilada was solidly very good. The spicy red sauce on the enchiladas was solidly good. The charro beans were solidly very good. Rice was perfectly fine. Nothing spectacular. Seemed pretty fresh. Most Mexican restaurants give you dried out unflavored Mexican rice. The wait staff were pleasant enough. Hostess was nice. Waitress acted like she needed to catch a bus & wasn't really interested in me as a customer. She basically tolerated me. Largely, I suspect bc it was the end of the evening & I was a solo diner. There were several couples that came in after me though. Anyway. This place seems on par with every other pedestrian American Mexican restaurant in the mid west. It was actually a bit better but I didn't sample anything else so hard to say. It was fine. BUT definitely NOT earth shatteringly amazing. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find something that doesn't taste great at Cebollas. It doesn't matter which location you go to. They're all Fantastic! This os the lowest rating i have given to any restaurant. We ordered Enchiladas Supremos and there were more lettuce, cheese than actual food. Refried beens did not taste like beens and they taste horrible. We tried to eat but could not. Their chips and salsa were good. If you like spicy salsa then you have get side order or salsa and pay $1.48. I have not been to any Mexican restaurant that charges you for salsa for chips. Cebollas speaks to my heart. Endless amounts of chips and salsa...seriously though. It never stops. I have been a fan of Cebollas my whole life from what I can remember. I first started going here with my family and now enjoy it with my girlfriends and a pitcher of margaritas. The decor is pleasing to the eye- big booths with elaborate designs and the tiles around the place scream "I am in Mexico" or at least wish I was. My go-to dishes on the menu are: start out with queso!!!! Oh sweet queso god, cebollas' is on point. I love the Mixteca salad with steak. It can be a little overboard on the dressing so ask for it on the side. It is a delicious mix of pico, black beans, and avocado. Steak comes plenty on this dish as well. If I am looking to share I go with the steak fajitas. Very easy to share with two people- just ask for extra tortillas! I am also a huge fan of the chimichanga de la casa...with you guessed it, steak. Drinks wise I stick to the margaritas. Usually lime on the rocks with a submarino. Go big or go home. The added corona makes this margarita over the top refreshing. Service is speedy. Some servers are more friendly than others. But mostly you will receive your drinks, chips replenished, and food without the server saying a word. Unless you have Delmy. She served a few friend and I in the bar last night and was awesome! " PIECE OF GLASS IN MY FOOD"!! I had dinner with my wife at Cebollas Mexican Grill the Jefferson street location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I ordered the shrimp Chimiganga. Halfway through my meal I found an 1 inch piece of glass in my food that I had chewed on and spit out. I didn't see my server at the time, so I caught the attention of a manager on the floor and brought her over. I showed her the piece of glass and she proceeded to say they had nothing like that in the kitchen and proceeded to tell me I was lying about the glass in my food. I was not expecting anything from this but just wanted to make sure it was in attention of the restaurant. The manager never apologized once but just took my food away. After taking my food, she never returned and never even told my server of the problem. I had to explain the whole situation to my server once she came back and she took just my meal off the bill. Me nor my wife wanted to eat after that and it should have been handled completely different. This was a terrible experience and completely wrong to accuse me of the glass in my own food!!!! read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in fort Wayne. I've been waiting longer before going back to see if they would get back to where they once were. They suck now and today was my last visit. The service was bad and the only two tables by us had problems also. The texas margarita's were weak, service was slow to non existent and the food was dry like they made it a few days ago and just microwaved it. Ate here 10/24/2020 my gf ordered soft tacos and was clear on what was wanted, server brings out hard tacos and were like this isn't what was ordered. He replies that's not what I heard and walks away. About 6 minutes later I see the manager next to us and I said her order isn't correct she ordered soft shell tacos, she returns with shells and says make your own instead of correcting the order. Horrible service and won't be returning to this location. Not to mention took me a good 30 Minutes to receive my cup of water I ordered before our meal when the drinks was ordered. Quite possibly the most generic "Mexican" food I've ever had. I got the taco salad, the beef was so flavorless, I doused the whole thing in salsa and hot sauce. At that point it was still bland, and now completely cold. I didn't even bother finishing it. My sister got the chicken chimichanga and was equally displeased. Our friend got the #2 lunch special and was also extremely underwhelmed. The only redeeming qualities to this place: the service was good and everyone working was polite. The bathrooms were clean. The beer was ice cold. The chips were fresh, and the queso was very good, but could've been warmer. Seemed to get too cold, too quickly. If I had to go back, I'd leave drunk and hungry. Get the chicken tamale a la carte (best tamale in town!) which is covered with a nice brown meaty (pork?) sauce and the side salad (which is so big it's on a dinner plate) which is lettuce, sliced onion and bell peppers, and cheese and you are incredibly satisfied for $4. Ok ... that's my lunch menu. My dinner menu varies slightly, namely in the addition of a big fat delicious margarita. Texas. On the rocks. With salt. If you drink it any other way, don't talk to me. The 48 ouncer is enough for you and a 2 companions (if you're in for the long haul, 1 companion (if you're expecting an early night), or no companions (if you're going to crash in your car for a few hours or have a very forgiving dd.) EXCELLENT! I always say that a good ethnic restaurant will have a fairly even mix of ethnicities for patrons. You can tell it is good and if it is authentic by if people that should know eat there. I stopped in here with some buddies while visiting them in Indiana. Pretty good place overall. I enjoyed the salsa even though it was a bit watery, they are nice enough to give you separate bowls so there are no table battles over double dipping. I had the steak fajita quesadilla. Yes you read that right, steak fajita quesadilla. A somewhat odd dish I had never seen on any menu before so I went for it and was rewarded handsomely. Was it the best fajita ever? No. But it may have been the best quesadilla I've ever had. My only gripe is it was a bit loud and the server didn't seem too interested in our table but still took good care of us. I've been to this place two times now on my visits to Ft. Wayne. Both times have been very good. The margaritas are outstanding. They come in sizes if 12 oz., 24 oz., and 48 oz. 48 seems insane. The chips were dull (we actually used a salt shaker on them), but the salsa they came with was extremely addictive. I continued to mix chips and salsa in with my meal. The prices are extremely reasonable. I had a fajita burrito. It was about $8. The portions aren't monstrous, which I appreciate. Yum! We have been to most the Cebollas restaurants in the Fort, but this review concerns the Fernhill location where we find ourselves most often. Cebollas is a comfy, fun, affordable place to take our family. We often bring out-of-town guests here too for a casual dining experience. Sometimes I make myself choose something different on the menu, but I really enjoy the burrito verde. Our kids like to get bean burritos with beans and beans instead of rice. Explaining their order to our server sometimes works, and sometimes not. In fact, changing anything from exactly what the menu specifies is sometimes difficult, depending upon how well the server understands the special requests. Service is also slow sometimes. For the money, though, it's a great deal. read more

I lived in the Mission District in San Francisco for several years and I like to think I know decent Mexican food. I was polite about going out for Mexican in Indiana... don't hate me, I mean, Mexican food in Fort Wayne? That said. This place is pretty excellent! The food was outstanding! I will say this might be teh best salsa I have had outside of Califiornia. Teh Margaritas were out of this world and I had a burrito (I was being cheap) and it was big and GOOD! That said. A nice view of the mall and enough parking for dinner time. The beer and margs were good. The beans and guac were lacking, but the enchilada sauce was amazing! I mean, seriously brilliant. Table service may have been quicker. I sat at the bar and service was very slow. I mean waiting for 20 minutes for simple things. Chips were basic, didn't taste too fresh but were not sooooo greasy.
