Hidden gem! I came here for the first time last week and was excited to try this location as arepas are evidently their specialty. I ordered one of their signature arepas: The Joint and it was great. It was juicy, packed with a good amount of food and was a nice combination of flavors. As a plantain enthusiast this was the perfect arepa for me. 1 arepa would be filling for the average person. My boyfriend ordered the El Poco Loco for us to split which I wasn't too crazy about - it reminded me of a crispy chicken sandwich and I didn't care for the sauce on this. I didn't bother to eat this after the first bite. Additionally I got to try the tres leches and this was better than I expected. I'm always hesitant to try tres leches because there are so many ways to prepare it. This way was more classic and simple with just the cake and the 3 milks at the bottom. It came served in a square dessert cup. It felt a little small for the price but the taste was worth it. My only constructive feedback for the cake is that the cake would be even better if it was a little less dry as far as texture but that can be hard to balance as you don't want the cake to become too wet over time due to it soaking in the milk. I can't wait to revisit: I'll be getting the tres leches again and would love to try the El Guey. read more

I've never had fresh authentic arepas before so this was on my radar. the portions are generous for the price imo. the green sauce is amazing. the red sauce was a bit too spicy for me but the pink sauce was good. it helped to have the sauces to dip the arepa and yucca bites in but the flavors of the food were good. read more

Since discovering this delicious Latin gem, my wife and I have overeaten here three times. And that is saying a lot in two months because we rarely even like to return to a restaurant more than once, when there are so many options available. The Cachapas here are something brilliant. And this from a person who loves Colombian food, but I don't care much for arepas. But these are an exception. We've even had the cachapa with huevos and queso twice. It's delish at any hour. Yucca bites are a must; served with various salsas. And the bowls; I recommend the poco loco for sure; they are a scrumptious mezcla of yummy sabores. Such flavor. Ceci's Arepa Joint is on Newbridge Road in East Meadow, NY. The Arepa are made of cornmeal bread with various toppings as sliced beef, chopped chicken or cheese as mozzarella. As a trial I ordered the minis and got one of each. The bread is light and fluffy and the meats sufficient with nothing special about the cheese. They come with different dips of 3. Id say by the color, hot sauce, russian dressing and maybe green guacamole. Also on the menu and purchased was noted sweet plaintains. They were well cooked and just ok for the sweetness. Now the Empanada of ham and cheese was perfectly cooked and fresh. They have a variety of specialty drinks and of course bottled water. (see pix) Their food is Columbian and or Venezuelan and was made fresh. They do not have desserts of which there is an icecream place in their shopping strip and a deli, the later having various puddings for sale. read more

The food was OK, the customer service was pretty bad. I wanted to take my mom, who has celiac's disease, out for a little lunch. We are Colombian and love trying new South American places out on the island. We drive about half an hour West because this place has good reviews, and I called to verify there were gluten free options. The person on phone was quite short, but hey maybe they are busy. No worries. We get to the place, excited to see a clean and casual restaurant. The cashier was the person I had spoken to on the phone. No greeting, no eye contact, and very rude to any question I asked. The whole interaction was so uncomfortable, my mother was shocked. I heard the same treatment to a family who was also dining in. We wanted to leave but figured we would try the food since we drive out, and perhaps this person was having a bad day. I hesitated to write this review but feel that it should be addressed. I wanted to say something in person but this man had such negative energy I was almost afraid that it would have reached an argument. 2 stars for flavorful steak and shrimp fillings. read more

Let me just say I judge a lot of places by their sauces. Ceci's did not disappoint. Their red (spicy) sauce was actually spicy and their green sauce was pretty good. With that said - the arepas are good but are very pricey for the area. I got the La Mona and it was good but messy to the point it became a knife and fork job. They were also out of avocado, which is fine because I hate avocado. For the location, $11 is a bit steep for an arepa sandwich. In the city you get the same thing for about $8. I would come here again because the food is tasty but the cost is just too high. read more

Love Ceci's! I have been missing arepas since I moved from NYC to LI. I am so happy to discovered Ceci's. I usually get the chicken and avocado arepa. The cheese sticks and rice & beans are delicious add-ons. It is good for at least 2 meals but I usually eat most of it since it is so good. read more

A great place to have Venezuelan food. I just ordered the "The Joint" arepa and it met every one of my expectations. I asked for the black beans on the side instead of on the arepa (just my preference) and they accommodated my request. The arepa, filled with slow cooked pulled flank steak, grated cheese and sweet plantains was absolutely delicious. The black beans were equally as tasty and fabulous. I know the work it takes to make arepas and all of its fixings. I know what it costs to buy quality ingredients. For NY, one of the most expensive states in the country, I found their pricing to be VERY fair. Especially when they are using quality ingredients. I highly recommend this restaurant and I hope that anyone reading this will try them out and support this wonderful little place. read more

Ordered from here on a whim and I'm glad I did. I couldn't decide what to order so I tried out a few things: la Mona arepa, black beans and fried cheese cachapa, yucca bites, and sweet plantains. Hidden gem with Great food, fresh ingredients and much needed variety for the area!! Just moved to the area so I paid my family in food to move in, we were craving some Latin food. Luck for us this unassuming restaurant was serving flavor packed food. At first glance, restaurant is very no frills. Maybe two tables for dine in. We ordered a lot: tequenos flight The Cartagena: shrimp was amazing The joint: steak El polo loco La reina And pulled steak rice and beans bowl Everything was absolutely fresh, tons of flavor. The plantains were amazzzinngg.
