    Beef empanada

This is your basic mom and pop place and it does not disappoint! Great food and even nicer staff! Very comfy atmosphere. I recommend the beef empanadas and shrimp ceviche!

Sophia's Empanadas opened recently and we gave them a try. It's a small place but very cute with some seating inside. The staff was super friendly!! We love a good empanada!!! We tried a variety of empanadas both flour and corn. We had the chicken, rice and cheese and the pernil. My GF prefers the flour empanada with chicken while my absolute favorite was the corn empanada with pernil!!! The juices just gush!!! Everything was delicious and fresh!! They even reheated perfectly in the air fryer as we saved some for later. Even days later they were delicious!!!! Definitely recommend giving them a try!!

Every time I passed by I was waiting for it to open. It ended up opening about a month ago but I made it in! They're so friendly and the main dishes are probably great. Today I only got empanadas to go. I got the jalapeño cheddar carne in both yellow and white flour. Guava and cheese pollo and pernil. They're frying them fresh so I recommend calling ahead or just enjoy hanging out in their welcoming dinning area. Can't wait to go back for a meal.

This place opened up not long ago and passed by twice and decided to give it a go. I really love the ambiance of the place. Clean and spacious. The owner Sofia is very friendly and explains well. Has a very nice food selection and so many choices for empanadas. I love how it's all made fresh. Of course I just ordered so much food just to give it all a try. Trying both flower and corn empanadas. I love the platter diced that they offer. Empanadas are just all delicious. They have the ham, cheese and pineapple. Must try! Get the soups. Tried all three and just delicious. Will be coming often.

What a great place with great food. Over 20 kinds of empanadas and some fine dining entrees as well. Stop in to enjoy the awesome service and authentic decor ! You won't be disappointed. PS: you must finish up with the bread pudding !!!!

When you walk in, there is a bar on your right with cute flowers hanging around the area, and lots of tables on the left side. We started off the meal by ordering beef empanadas which took about 15 min to get to us. They are a must to start off your meal. They were full of potato and meat and very flavorful. They were a good size. The food came about an hour after we sat down, around 10:40pm. I'm not sure if they usually take this long, or because a lot of people went there after the concert. We ordered the Picadita, which comes with tostones, chicharrón, steak, morcilla, and chorizo. The Frijolada came with rice and egg, beef, avocado, chorizo, bits of chicharrón. Both were delicious, no complaints. The meat was tender and not chewy at all. If I'm ever in the area, I would come back to the restaurant.

We had the Mini Paisa, and don't let the word "mini" fool you . The portion was HUGE! We ended up taking almost half of it home. They had salsa music playing, which added to the authentic, fun atmosphere. The restaurant was pretty empty when we went, so service was very quick, and everyone was extremely kind. There was a little bit of a language barrier--the staff didn't speak much English and I don't speak Spanish--but honestly, nothing Google Translate and sounding out the menu couldn't fix! We made it work with no problem. The margaritas were delicious . The sangria wasn't really for me, but I'd absolutely order another margarita. And my son LOVED the chocolate drink! Great food, BIG portions, quick service, kind staff, and an authentic Colombian experience. We left full, happy, and with plenty of leftovers!

The restaurant was busy (always a good sign!), but we were seated quickly and treated with such kindness and efficiency. The service overall was excellent--friendly, attentive, and just a great vibe all around. And the FOOD... absolutely incredible. I had the skirt steak with rice, beans, and salad--10/10, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My friend had the fish and loved it just as much. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made with care. Between the amazing food and the outstanding service, this place is a gem. If you're just normally hungry, skip it because the entrées are more than enough. I had the steak with mushrooms and onions. The steak itself was cooked well, but I would've loved more mushrooms, and personally I think it would pair much better with rice and beans instead of French fries. The chicken options also felt a little limited compared to the long list of steak dishes. The appetizers could use some love too. Three empanadas on a plate and calling it an appetizer felt a little... phoned in. Give us a little flair! Service was a bit confusing because it seemed like everyone was helping every table, so we never really knew who our actual server was. We asked for the check because we had a show to get to, got an "okay," and then watched our server head over to another table first. Cue everyone checking their watches. The drinks were tasty, but I'm still on the fence about whether they were freshly made or not. Overall? It was a decent experience. The portions are generous, the steaks are the star of the menu, and there's definitely potential here. Would I rush back? Maybe not. Would I tell you not to go? Also no. This is one of those places where you'll have to grab a fork and decide for yourself.

I ordered one of their signature arepas: The Joint and it was great. It was juicy, packed with a good amount of food and was a nice combination of flavors. As a plantain enthusiast this was the perfect arepa for me. 1 arepa would be filling for the average person. My boyfriend ordered the El Poco Loco for us to split which I wasn't too crazy about - it reminded me of a crispy chicken sandwich and I didn't care for the sauce on this. I didn't bother to eat this after the first bite. Additionally I got to try the tres leches and this was better than I expected. I'm always hesitant to try tres leches because there are so many ways to prepare it. This way was more classic and simple with just the cake and the 3 milks at the bottom. It came served in a square dessert cup. It felt a little small for the price but the taste was worth it. My only constructive feedback for the cake is that the cake would be even better if it was a little less dry as far as texture but that can be hard to balance as you don't want the cake to become too wet over time due to it soaking in the milk. I can't wait to revisit: I'll be getting the tres leches again and would love to try the El Guey.
