I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of the optical department. They have name brands and more colors options than just "black or brown." We were greeted by a very knowledgeable optician named Mahaila who walked us through the different lens material and coatings. Glasses were ready after 10 days and they are perfect! After my cataract surgery I can only see things clearly within 4-5 feet. I paid for Vivity lens. That's extra payment out of my pocket, about $2,000.00. The distance is all double shadow now. They gave me a prescription which has wrong information. It says I was born in 2019. That makes me a 4- year old today. No wonder my prescription is messed up. Now I'm at my optometrist office and see what he can do for me. People. Please don't go there. I don't trust Taylor and her staff. If a doctor doesn't review her staff's performance, her own performance is jeopardized. The doctor receives wrong information and will consequently give you wrong treatment. read more

PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS I went in for an eye exam. When I got the bill it said I had been diagnosed with a pterygium. I have had the pterygium for years; I've had 2 pterygium surgeries in fact so I know I have it and therefore did not need a diagnosis. I was there for an eye exam as I needed new glasses. When my wife called to have it fixed they refused. So I called and spoke to one rude person after the next. Finally we just paid the bill as it was not worth it, both the reception and billing are awful. Fast forward 7 months and we get another bill in the mail. My wife calls again and speaks to the same awful woman in billing. The woman brings up the account and tells my wife that we still owe the amount on the bill. My wife explains that we had paid the bill and had proof of payment. Her response was "fine" and she tried to hang up. My wife pressed her to see if she wanted the proof and if she would confirm the amount was paid. She said "no, I'm taking if off the books". How are these people doing business? For the record the Dr. Taylor was OK in my experience but I will not be going back. Dr. Taylor can thank her staff for what sounds like another lost patient. read more

The wait time at this office is ridiculous, have brought both my parents here over the years and have never been seen by the dr in under an hour usually closer to two hours. I think Dr Taylor is very knowledgeable that is the only reason I continue to bring my parents. I do not like that the staff do all of the eye exam and dr Taylor just reviews their notes and does a two minute eye exam. I wonder what training the staff have? But I did not ask because each time I think that dr Taylor will do a full exam but she never does. read more

Dr. Taylor was great! So helpful to really search out a medication that my insurance would cover. Alex was great in helping me with my glasses. I had an initial appointment here in May and waited in the waiting room for over 2 hours and never got to even see Dr. Taylor. I had another appointment after this and ended up having to leave without being seen. The front desk was apologetic and empathetic but told me that this is just how it is and you need to plan several hours for an appointment there. No one shared that information with me when I scheduled the appointment. There were over 10 people waiting in the waiting room and several of them said this is how it always is. Front desk was rude and unfriendly! They have no compassion or willingness to work with you. I wouldn't recommend this doctors office to anyone unless they like unpleasant experiences. The doctor office reviewed me and gave me no real professional opinion other then collecting my copayment and making me wait longer then normal and then pushing you through so fast you get no real assessment. I am glad others have found my review helpful. I wanted to update my previous review to clarify the billing issue from my perspective - a layperson, not a professional biller. I scheduled my visit using my new vision plan insurance and followed their directions to present insurance to the provider. Unfortunately while I thought I was booking a routine visit, the office identified the visit as medical, which caused me to have 100% responsibility for the charges. (I expected a $10 copay for the exam and an unknown charge for refraction services, based on the plan's rate). The provider's biller disagrees with me and indicated that they couldn't help any further. I have asked both my insurers and the Department of Managed Health Care to confirm if the appointment should have been billed as medical or as an eye exam. Please note: it is not a threat to the office to indicate that I'm asking for an appeal, dispute or review of claims charged to my insurer. It is a right of all individuals covered by insurance in California. Really wish I had read these reviews before wasting money here. I recently had a network change on my insurance/forgot to bring in the correct insurance card into the office and the woman at the front desk was obnoxious about it. She criticized me for not being sure of what network I belonged to (all she had to do to really figure everything out was look at my husband's social security number). At the end of my visit when I paid the same woman for my visit she made comments about being unsure if I would be able to pay for the visit, she made comments such as, "oh what do you know, it got approved!". And, "I bet you wished money grew on trees," implying that she thought the amount of my doctor visit was a lot for me to have to pay at once. I would recommend seeing Dr. Martins in Walmart! Her staff is much more respectful and she is a great doctor. If my insurance covered her visits I would have never gone to this ridiculous office!! read more

This is the most unprofessional medical office I have ever been in. The only thing consistent here is that you will be waiting at least an hour past your appointment time to be seen, and your entire appointment will take up to 3 or 4 hours. I'm not sure it's the doctor who causes the long wait times, but it appears to be the office staff completely lacking any kind of organization or communications skills, in addition to their constant personal gossip which can be heard by everyone in the waiting room, including children. My husband and I have always scheduled the first appointment of the day at 7:45am in order to avoid the long wait and so we aren't late to work, and even though we arrive at 7:30, we are never seen by the doctor until 8:30 or later. One appointment, when I had a 2 month old nursing baby at home, I was the first appointment of the day at 7:45, I informed them I absolutely had to be seen on time so I could get home to feed my child, and at 8:45 when I finally was able to get one of the receptionist's attention because they were constantly on the phone (and most of those calls did not sound work related), they seemed surprised I was still there and said "Oh, I forgot you were here". I was sitting right in front of her waving to get her attention for over 30 minutes! I should have billed them for the cost of my babysitter, because what they insisted would be a 20 min appointment was THREE HOURS. My husband has been VERY late to work every time he has to go in for an appointment. This is not normal, all prior optometrists I've visited have never taken longer than 45 min, and that's only if you're being dilated. Also, I have had a chronic allergic reaction issue with my eyes and contacts, and Dr. Taylor just kept prescribing steroid eye drops. After consulting with another doctor, who was horrified that I was being told to use these drops constantly, (because apparently there are horrible side effects from chronic steroid use that can cause worse issues than what the drops were prescribed for) said that if I switched to daily disposable lenses it would fix the awful itchy bumps under my eyelids. And it did. Sadly I had to put up with this discomfort for 4 years because Dr. Taylor's only suggestion was switching to a different brand of saline solution, and a different doctor fixed the problem in 5 minutes. After 7 years of dealing with this office, we have switched to the optometrists at UC Davis in Folsom. read more

Dr. Taylor & staff are simply marvelous. I always feel as though I am receiving competent, thorough care. A couple of years ago I had trouble with central vision in one eye - fearing macular degeneration, I went back only a few months after my annual eye exam. Dr. Taylor examined all the images of my eye in detail, and diagnosed a "floater" - not a degeneration in vision, really - just an annoyance. She was very reassuring, but what really impressed me was her focus (ahem) as she looked at my signs and symptoms and then explained the problem in detail. They always have a great selection of frames, and Alex, the optician, is very good with frame fit, adjustment and aesthetics. read more

This is NOT the place to depend on for contact lenses! After my eye examination in September I was referred to the contact lens technician in the office where he did not look at my eyes at all, only the eyeglass prescription but noting that the contact lens prescription is separate and different. But somehow magically he came up with a best guess and gave me a sample to try for a week. I wore them each of three consecutive days documenting the vision correction problems. It didn't take a week to know they were not working out. So I called him and reported my findings. I was told two more samples would be ordered and he would call me in a week. After waiting past that time I called him where I was told that one set came in but the other was on back order. I could have at least been called with this information so to their surprise I cancelled the order and demanded a refund. I went to another optometrist for a thorough contact lens examination and the first sample works perfectly. Don't be complacent with their excuses for not calling as promised! read more

Do not go here if you are a first time contact wearer! I took my 14 year old son here to get contacts fitted and we left over an hour later without contacts. The technician, Alex, explained how to put the contacts in and showed my son how to put them in, but did not put them on my son. My son tried and tried, but could not do it. Alex left my son in the fitting room while he helped other patients. I feel that they should have put the lenses in my son's eyes for him and been more patient showing him how to put them on himself. We are going elsewhere and will not be back to this doctor. I wish I had read the previous reviews before I took my son here! read more

I agree with those who found the staff to be unfriendly and arrogant. I am a self-pay patient, and I no longer tolerate being talked down to by medical office staff. I'm paying the bills, I'm the customer, not my insurance company. If a doctor tolerates her staff acting like they do towards patients, it doesn't bode well for the doctor's attitude either in my opinion. Maybe the doctor is great. I'll never know. Very disappointed. I should have read the reviews! Because my insurance changed I switched to Dr. Taylor. Dr.Taylor did my eye exam. I found her to be curt and unfriendly. I used the Rx to buy glasses. NOT even close. So I returned for another exam and showed them my 13 month old Rx from my previous Doc. With that in hand they did a 2nd exam and came up with results similar to my old Rx. The front desk people were argumentative and were not helpful setting a new appointment when I first returned. After filling the second Rx and still not feeling (seeing) right I returned to my previous Doc and paid cash for a new exam! Great! What a waste of time and my money! read more

I want to thank this office and Tammy in particular. I had an unexpected eye problem. I didn't have an ophthalmologist and found their name on the internet. They were close to my home. I called and spoke with Tammy about my problem. At the end of our conversation she told me to please call her in the morning to see if anything had changed. As nothing had changed the next morning she booked me for an appointment that day. The doctor was very thorough and very nice. She addressed my problem and scheduled a follow up. It was amazing to me that Tammy would take such time with me and show such concern having never met me . This first experience was wonderful for me and though I hope my eye problem doesn't become a permanent concern, I feel that I will be well cared for if it does. read more

If I could give them negative stars, I would. That being said DO NOT go here. This has been one of the most unethical doctors office I have ever visited in my life. Her front office is polite, yet during my wait I learned about the neighborhood gossip and who is sleeping with whom and who cheated on whom. To make matters even worse, the girl who did the initial prep work did not clean the equipment after previous use, when I brought it to her attention she said "oh it's clean". Then I get the "the Dr. Likes to dilate the eyes," I explain to her that I'm driving and it is not a good idea. Somehow She convinced me to let her, only for me to see her get the giant bottle out, not single use. But the bottle that has been in Hundreds of people's eyes. Needless to say I had specifically made an appointment for contact lenses, that's not what I got. To provide me with contact lenses they wanted me to pay additional (office fee) so some guy can teach me how to wear contacts, I have been wearing contacts for 20 years. So then I tell him what brand works for me and he responds by saying, "they are out of business" to which I respond by pulling them up on my phone. He brushes it off. After a big fight I eventually get my prescription , they confirm it with 800 Contacts (voice recorded), I then make a complaint with my insurance company questioning their ethics. What would they do to retaliate? Contact 800 Contacts and tell them that I do not have a prescription. read more

I'm glad I didn't see all the negative reviews here before going to Dr. Taylor. I went in with no expectations, so my take is pretty objective. The front office staff definitely needs some training in customer service, but they weren't too bad. Dawn was the assistant who helped me and she was great. Very thorough and knowledgeable. She wasn't overly friendly or chatty, but I prefer knowledgeable to chatty when it comes to medical professionals, so that was fine by me. Dr. Taylor herself was personable and friendly. After the visit, they gave me my prescription for free. My last ophthalmologist made me pay $50 to release the Rx! My visit was free - paid entirely by insurance, so I can't comment on prices. Overall, a good experience and will definitely return. read more

I believe Dr Taylor is the only actual eye *doctor* in Folsom. Why go to a chiropractor for your eyes when you can go to a real medical doctor. Dr Taylor really knows her stuff. I learned that what the non-doctor optometrists had told me in the past was wrong. read more

Dr. Taylor and her staff (Tammy, Brandy, Thomas and Alex) are all wonderful. Dr. Taylor is very professional and thorough. They are all very friendly to me. I recently had some issues with my insurance company approving my prescription eye drops. When I called and explained my problem to Tammy, she said we will take care of it right away. I told her that I was very stressed that I wouldn't get my prescription. Tammy told me not to worry that they would take care of it for me. Which she did!! This was a follow up visit for Shingles. At the time of the appointment I expressed concern that I was having some overlapping vision and asked what I should do. Her response was, and I quote, "we'll make a follow up a appointment in a couple of months." She was abrupt and condescending which I found interesting for someone who got their degree at McGill University! I am guessing her training in tact was received over at Black and Decker. Plus my appt was at 9:30 and I was seen at 10:15. Obviously my time is not as valuable. Would not recommend this provider. read more

Had been seeing Dr. Taylor for about 4 years. It was ok until I needed cataract surgery. I had had lasik in left eye for distance. She determined that my right eye was dominant, therefore should be for distance. After the surgery(ies), I can no longer see small objects and can not drive without glasses to correct her judgment error. When I went in to 'complain', she said, "We can give you glasses." I didn't need them before, why now? One of these days, doctors will learn to listen to their patients. She totally messed up my sight, both near & far. I rue the day I agreed to her surgery, because now it is permanent and I will have to live the rest of my life 'handicapped'. Thank you Dr. Taylor. read more

i have been a patient of Dr. Taylor for about 2 years and I have the upmost respect for her MD skills and knowledge. I decided to change to a different doctor is because Dr. Taylor and her office do not communicate very well with patients. I had a routine 6 month check up at 8am one morning and although i had been prepped to see her (eyes checked and dialated), 2 hours later i was still waiting to see Dr Taylor and NO ONE in the office told me anything was wrong..2 hrs for a routine check up and no explanations are just not acceptable. I had to be at work at 10:30 and asked a few times how much longer before i can see the Dr, i had to go to work. Nothing .. So i just feel that Dr Taylor does not see the value of a patient's time.. read more

Absolutely the most miserable experience ever had at any appointment. I was at their office over 4 hours. Literally had to take the entire afternoon off. I had been pushed behind others that had appointments after me because they were complaining of the extremely long wait. So since I didn't complain I was pushed to the back of the line even though I had an appointed time. The office has tension because they always mismanage their schedules & people end up waiting average of 2 hours in the waiting room. After being taken into the eye exam room, someone other than a doctor took the measurements. That literally only took 2 minutes. Then I was placed into another room for another 45 minutes & the doctor walked in smelling like smoke & gave me a prescription on a paper. Once I went to order the contacts whic by the way they never call you when their in. I always have to call in & guess when they might be in. The paper that the doctor gave me had a different prescription than what was ordered. This is the 2nd year in a row that I've gone here only because I forgot to find a different eye doctor. Same scheduling issues both years. Needless to say I will NOT be back & feel like reporting their practices to the better business bureau. Absolutely no reason to wait over 3 hours for an appointment that takes 2 minutes. They should be paying me at that rate. They need to figure out how to get patients through their doors in a reasonable time frame. & give them accurate prescriptions. NOT OK. I agree with Susan's review. I too found Dr.Taylor to be abrupt and condescending. My two kids have been seeing her for atleast 5 years now and I regret not having changed the ophthalmologist sooner. Usually my husband takes them for the eye exam and I haven't been involved much until the last two years when my son was diagnosed with a number of vision problems (none of which were caught by Dr.Cecille). My 13-yr old son suffered from a weeklong headache. He has had these episodes in the past. My husband would take him to Dr.Cecille. She would just say that his glasses didn't need correction and that the headaches were not due to problems with the eyes. So last year, we took him to another OD, who diagnosed him with a number of problems. Just to be sure, I took my son to another well-qualified Opthalmologist and he too confirmed what the OD had found out. This time, I called Dr.Cecille out of desperation, to see who would give him the earliest appointment. First of all the receptionist claimed there were no appointments for another 1.5 months. When I told her I couldn't wait that long and was about to hang up, she claimed that there was one available in 3 days! So, I took it. I showed Dr.Cecille the diagnosis by other docs. She said that all my son needed to do, was to not wear the glasses for near-distance work like reading. When I asked a clarifying question she said "That's why I told you at first - listen carefully!" I wanted to ask her "How the heck did you miss his problems all these years ?" and "Why didn't you tell me first when he got his glasses 5 years ago, that he shouldn't use it for near-sighted work ?". But I didn't want to stoop to her level. However, I believed in her advice, after all she has been practicing for over 20 years. Next day, I ask my son to try reading without the glasses, as she had suggested. He tried for a few seconds and said "No, I need my glasses, all the letters are blurry!". That's when I realized that due to his astigmatism, he will need the glasses. If he only had myopia, her explanation would've made sense. Dr Taylor has no interest in getting to the root of a problem and even claims that there is no problem. You have to pretty much tell her what to test for, before she does the test. If I had not told her about the other diagnosis by other docs, she wouldn't have bothered to test him for those at all. (And she hadn't, all the years that he had seen her!) Dr. Taylor saved my eyesight twice. When I was diagnosed with Reiter's syndrome, which is really rare, she knew exactly how to deal with that disease. The second time, she diagnosed me with macular degeneration. I was immediately referred to retina specialist. I received needed help within 24 hours. Incredible. Her staff is very dedicated to their profession, and they know how to take care of their patients. They are like my family. I am so lucky to have Dr. Taylor and her incredible staff in my life. Sorry, but the staff is not friendly when I called or went in. I have been going the past 2 years and each time has been the same. If you call with an insurance question you get treated as if you are really putting them out and they let you know it. To top it all off, in addition to your insurance paying for the visit, and me paying my co-pay, then also charge $50 to do a contact fitting and prescription.. what a joke. I've gone here for two years now and everytime I go in I hope the ladies at the front desk will be pleasant to me. Alex does his job but is a little short. Dr. Taylor is nice, but I saw her for only about 5 min and her unfriendly techs for over an hour. Yes, this last visit took over an hour! I was on time, yet somehow I was behind 3 children and was placed in the childrens area to wait for 15 minutes after I had first been seen and had already taken out my contacts. Not fun. Hope the ladies at the counter get an attitude adjustment before next time, or I will find another office next year. I actually heard one of them pretend to pick up the phone when it rang and said "what do you want?!" You are the faces of this office and you are making it look bad. read more

In my opinion Dr. Cecille Taylor is the best. Due to my vision issues, I was referred to her by my general physician. She had to perform cataract operation on both of my eyes. She performed the operations with great results. In a separate visit, she removed 3 lesions below my left eye easily without any pain. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, answers question patiently, well organized, with excellent personality. I recommend her to all my friends. read more
