THE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY WAS HORRIBLE TO SAY THE LEAST. The sales manager who came in to assess the work does not even know what services they provide and they do not. Also, they missed the line items of work that were asked for in the contract terms. I had to revise the contract multiple times to get the correct work line items. As one of the line item, he said that the deck can be repaired and provided a final contract. But when the men came in to work (after 2 months of waiting time), they said they will not be able to any repairs to the deck. So I had to cancel the project since I wanted one contractor to go with fence/deck/garage doors. Upon cancelling the project, I asked for a refund, they sent me a check deducting the credit card fee. When I called the customer service personnel K(c)atherine on why the credit card fee was held as I cancelled due to their misinformation, she was so rude and unprofessional and hung up on me. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had. Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM IN A LIFETIME AGAIN. First of all, the salesperson insisted that the current coating on my fence was paint, not stain. Sure looked like stain to me. They use a semi-transparent paint, I was told. Oh, yeah? Now that the job is done, it looks like plain old paint to me. Will water-soluble paint stick to stain? Not likely, but so far (one week later) it's survived a rainstorm. The salesperson presented a brochure detailing a list of colors, and I was told that the staff would try out some options on my fence for me to choose. When they arrived, the truck was loaded up with only one color. Then, I was asked if I wanted to paint the galvanized steel posts the same color. (Will paint stick to galvanized steel?) I gave the go-ahead, but we shall see. Lastly, the plan for keeping the hinges and latches black was to wipe the wet paint off. That part was done in a fairly haphazard fashion - okay from a distance, but don't look too closely. Overall, the price was low and the servicepeople were congenial and cooperative. Wentz did his best to protect my plants, and that was most appreciated. read more

It's true that the early bird catches the worm! Texas Best got my business because they were the first company to respond to my request for a quote to stain our fence and garage doors AND they were reasonably priced...which is more than I can say about their competitors, some of whom never even showed up for the appointment to provide a quote. But I digress... I was initially told that they were 4-6 weeks behind schedule due to the excessive rain we had this past Spring which was completely understandable. After all, Texas weather can be extreme and unpredictable. As it turns out they were actually further behind than that, although it didn't come as a surprise, nor was it an issue for me. Eventually the job was completed and it was worth the wait. Our fence and garage doors look fantastic! The only reason they fell short of receiving 5 stars was because the communication could have been better. Once the proposal was signed weeks turned into months where I heard nothing from them. I began to wonder if they forgot about me so I contacted them to express my concern. At that point they promptly scheduled an appointment to come clean our fence and garage doors. Texas Best Stain has basically ruined our fence and deck. They stood us up two times and when they finally came out to do the work it was the biggest botch job ever. When the sales person came out he never gave us the opportunity to see samples, but decided on his own the color and solid stain. We have always used a transparent oil stain. Showing samples was his responsibility as he was trained to do, but failed to do so. We absolutely hate the mess they made. We contacted several of their customers and learned they all saw samples. This review is for a fence replacement that was left incomplete. We had Kyle come out and assess our property after reading all the glowing reviews on yelp. His team was absolutely unprofessional, and rude. I was kind enough to provide drinks and snacks but they played blaring Latin music all day Thursday and Friday and left cigarette butts and plastic bottles on our property. On friday evening I noticed that they had not leveled my fence and had placed unevenly lined planks on my side. I approached their lead guy (Edgar) and told him to stop and check it out and he lost it. Edgar started arguing with my husband and lied that my husband said it was ok to be uneven, and then when my husband corrected him, he blamed my neighbors saying that they said it was ok. My Neigbor came out and corrected him but Edgar was plain enraged. I speak Spanish and tried to explain to him that it looks absolutely messed up with tacked on planks at whichever level was convenient, after their team assured us that they had "ways" of leveling it earlier that morning. We left several messages for Kyle but got no response. Edgar threw a tantrum and stormed off with his two helpers, leaving behind all the trash and planks from the old fence on our yard. The next day only the two helpers came late afternoon when we weren't home and climbed over our metal gate grabbed their stuff and left. My metal gate is now bent down because of two adult males climbed over it. We have had no follow up from Kyle, except for José (helper) from the team telling us that he will come Tuesday to see what's going on. The customer service is non existent and professionalism is sorely lacking. 5/28/19 Edited to Add We spoke to Kyle on Tuesday and he came by to assess the problem. After my conversation with him and his action to fix our fence in a proper manner I've decided to amend my review. Kyle assured us he would address the unprofessional behavior of his crew. Specifically, with regard to our fence he fixed the issue with the uneven boards and charged us just the cost of materials for the additional fence repair. He is professional and polite and if only we had to deal with him and not Edgar things would have gone smoothly. Our fence is now done and looks great. The work is under warranty for 10 years so that's a plus. read more

For about a month my wife and I searched out someone to build our new fence. We needed a replacement in a bad way and typically we'd just do it ourselves but this time we needed to contract someone. After having four other options come to give a bid we had Alex Howe from Texas Best Stain come out. He was very personable, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to want to help get us to where we needed to be. Once we got the quote and had a chance to reconnect to hone it to our needs and budget they got right to work. Ruth Montgomery, the Operations Manager, got the crew out incredibly quickly. We were shocked with how fast the "call before you dig" happened, then once that was done the actual demo and construction crew. After that when the details needed to be readdressed they were right on it When the crew arrived to start the project they were extremely respectful and professional. They answered every question I had about the process and heard me out on all my concerns. Everything was addressed in a timely manner and the workmanship was spot on. Every job will have a challenge or a go back and this one was no exception. They dealt with these challenges ang go backs with purpose and all were addressed to our satisfaction. We are confident we got a high quality product from trustworthy and reliable people. We've had some issues with past contractors but not here, I've already referred a handful of friends to seek out a bid for their fencing needs and I'm now doing the same with you! read more

Overall, our fence stain looks relatively even. TBS would have earned 5 Stars had the prep work and customer support been handled better. "NOT done correctly the first time" is a recurring theme in other reviews I've read. The day of powerwashing, I told the crew they missed a section (there was dead grass and loose dirt laying on the fence cross beams). The crew was not interested in looking...they were ready to leave. I sent email and pictures to TBS explaining that staining the fence in this condition was concerning. The following day the crew arrived 2 hours before the company's response email. I was assured they talked to the crew and they were cleaning that area. When I arrived home, the dirt was still there...now sufficiently stained to match the wood (almost). I emailed pictures again of the dirt, and the now stained mud that had resulted. I waited several days... I finally called them, and they offered to clean and stain the trouble spot. I was not convinced that they could match the previous color...I've decided to let it go. I believe they CAN do exceptional work. Their price is competitive. I strongly suggest a customer needs to be onsite to supervise the crew. In my email to their office, I "questioned" whether we should continue rather than insisting they STOP. I was very disappointed (and frankly agitated) they never bothered to CALL an obviously unhappy customer before continuing to work. They scheduled our service without asking if the dates even worked for us first, then never followed up emails from us asking to delay or postpone the service. I would never use this company. The project from start to finish probably started March and ended in August. Trying to have communication with this woman that worked in the office was a nightmare. Sometimes they would just show up at my house saying they were ready to work. No one had told me. Then sometimes they would take forever to get back to me about when this would be set up. He said the work was finished and he was unwilling to correct the problems that his employees created. In addition as I have written other unfavorable reviews, Rocky has left follow-up messages saying I am a disgruntled ex employee. That is absolutely a lie has he has shown me as well as its employees that all they really want to do is get my money and move on. I leave this review to warn other good people to stay away from this very dishonest unreliable poor workmanship company. Whether it was getting the snakes outta the walls, the squirrels outta the bathtub or building a walking bridge over/across our polo pitch and tennis court, we've had countless Home Services folks out to the house over the last thirty years, and one of the best has been Texas Best Stain - they recently put up a new fence and cleaned and stained several other (sections) for us. From start to finish everyone we dealt with whether in the office or in the field (esp. Savanah and Charlie) were exceptional. I especially appreciated the detailed estimate which included photos and a line-by-line cost breakdown of the proposed work to be done; this emailed several hours after we met and walked the property, and quickly and happily updated as changes were considered. The quality of work, and the friendly, professional 2 two-man teams (led by Jesus and Adolpho) who did it was excellent. Not a huge job, but it had updates, revisions and a bunch of moving parts, and they nailed it. And did so with ease. And interacting with the office staff (Savanah, Kate and Madeline) was a delight - from the first call down there to the last mail sent they were welcoming, efficient and professional. Following a recent hail storm, my fence and arbor took a decent beating and was all marked. I hired Texas Best Stain to come and re-stain my fence and arbor and to re-seal the stamped concrete. From sales (Alex) to scheduling (Ashley) to the workmanship (Louis and Marco) the experience was excellent. They did a deep power wash on the fence and arbor and re-stained it to bring it back to look like new with a consistent color all around. They power washed the concrete, treated and scrubbed trouble spots on the concrete before re-sealing it to make it look new too. I would use them again and recommend them to others! read more

Who likes getting mail from their HOA? Not me. It's always either a bill or worse a violation notice. Who loves impeccable customer service and quality workmanship? Definitely this guy. Luckily I was able to turn an aggravating letter from the HOA saying that my fence needs to be stained into a fantastic opportunity to improve the look and value of my property. The great folks at Texas Best Stain did an impeccable job staining our fence and the pergola on our patio. Both look brand new. They had to work around bad weather and scheduling issues with other workers at my house and did an amazing job protecting our outdoor furniture and pool. We really appreciated their service and quality during the install and were recommending them to others, but about a year later, we had someone back into our fence messing up 3 planks. The person responsible was willing to cover the cost of repairing and I reached out to see if they could fix it for us. Their minimum job is $400, which I couldn't justify asking the person to pay, so I'm stuck with a *mostly* new fence. I know it might seem minor to others, but a new fence is an expensive investment and I'm just so disappointed that there's nothing more they could do to cover a minor maintenance job at a reasonable cost. I realize it is likely just not worth their time, so perhaps this is to be expected. Again, pretty good company to work with, just think this policy is worth highlighting. read more

The process overall was fairly smooth and the staining work was very good. A crew of 2 came out to stain the fence the day after pressure wash. I was communicated with prior to each stage each day via email by the company, which was appreciated. They had the correct stain manufacturer and color as I'd requested and as per stated in the estimate, and were friendly and efficient. They were very careful in moving vegetation that obstructed the fence, and even showed regard for a nearby large lizard, not wanting to harm it with the stain. They also were good in cleaning the stain that inevitably got on the metal fence poles. They were also careful around the portions of the fence that abutted the house. The only issue that I'd really had (minor) is that the person doing the estimate came out 1 day AFTER our appointment---thus the 4 stars instead of 5. The day of our estimate appointment was not the best weather day, but again this was for fence area measurement. A call in advance letting me know what was going on in that regard would have been appreciated, but I just rolled with it. The estimator came out the next day to my surprise at around the time of our appointment the prior day, so possibly they wrote down the wrong day (I'm fairly confident I had the correct day written down) ?? The price was also very fair, and actually better than two other estimates I had received for the work---one of the big factors that led me to choose this company after doing my due diligence.
