TL;DR -- Above average offerings and a good option for carry-out coffee/treats. Been going to Cedar House occasionally for a couple years and just spent some time reading reviews. Many complaints regard the parking, which isn't ideal, but includes a few steep spots on the side and a couple more designated for takeout, only. After this, it is street parking in the Sunnyside neighborhood behind the shop. The location isn't great, but a few designated spots is more than some local places can boast. There's about a 50/50 chance of getting a side spot when you arrive. It's a bit tricky to navigate into and out of, but not a deal-breaker by any stretch. Some seating outside along a busy road (again, not a great location) but it can be peaceful enough, and some more indoors. The space isn't large, but it has a unique quirky interior that's cozy enough to sit for a while and a fun selection of local goods and coffee paraphernalia, though the lack of a public restroom turns some off. The drink selection includes pretty typical drip/brewed options and espresso drinks, plus a few unique and seasonal options, all of which are pretty good. Better than average but not breathtaking, and there is some QC concerns, but generally you'll enjoy what you get. The pastry selection is one of the best in town, and the quality is great, second only to Foret, maybe, but more affordable by a good stretch. Overall prices are typical for Flagstaff local. People have mentioned complaints about customer service, but I've never had issues. I wouldn't describe the team as especially bubbly or social, but they are amenable and do good work. The team is one of--if not THE--smallest of any coffee shop in town, after all. The lines aren't bad and the wait isn't too long, either. If you're used to the highly-streamlined, polished, affluent/modern atmosphere and process of the semi-local or chain cafes of larger cities, you're probably just in the wrong city, period. At least, this probably won't be the coffee shop for you. If you like smaller, slower, family-owned but not quite perfect, then you'll enjoy it. We were traveling through Flagstaff after doing the Grand Circle. This coffee shop was recommended on a Route 66 site. My wife and I grabbed an iced latte, chai, and muffin. The drinks were top notch and the muffin was fantastic. Super moist and I think they put cinnamon and brown sugar on it (double chocolate muffin). It was super good. The coffee shop itself is very cool. Great vibe. If we were staying longer or lived there, I could see it as our go to place. The sketches on the wall from beloved children's books and the other decor was eye candy while waiting for our order. Lastly, the staff that waited on us were super nice and helpful. read more

Yes, it looks like a war zone with sandbag barriers left and right. It seems that they have flooding when it rains and all houses down all streets have these sandbag barriers. It didn't worry me since I volunteer in disasters and I have seen worse. Parking is very limited but we found parking. The pastries were great, we really liked them and the coffee was nice. The problem I have is that they don't have restrooms and they don't have any sign telling you about it. So if you wait too long because you are working on a project on your laptop, you will have to pack your stuff and drive to the nearest store 1/4 mile away. They should have a sign that stated right away that they don't have restrooms and we wouldn't have stayed after getting our coffee and food. That's how easy it would have been to get a five-star review from me. But they missed the chance and now they are getting a three-star review for withholding important information that could have produced a disaster. read more

Stopped here on our way to the Grand canyon and everything was great from the moment we walked in. The space is adorable and the pastries all looked delectable. My black iced tea was strong but tasty. The drip coffee was also good. My stepson had the cheddar and cilantro scone and it was so fluffy and tasty like a biscuit. He also had an iced mocha that was "really good". We will definitely be back because I need to try the chai. It would definitely be my spot if I lived here. read more

This small local gem has been a cornerstone of stability in my routine during COVID. It's got a cozy Parisian cafe vibe with a charming gift selection, including products from some local makers. The coffee is consistently great and the pastries are incredible (I've tried almost everything on the menu). Everyone I've interacted with has been kind and provided excellent service. It's easy to see that significant care has been put into the crafting an design of the space; I come every week and something small has shifted every time - perhaps seasonal decor, a new gift section, or a seasonal item on their blackboard menu. On top of all that, they've done a great job navigating COVID. They have been perfectly clear from the start regarding their safety measures and boundaries as a business. Hand sanitizer is available and the COVID safety measures (such as line markers) are easy to follow and have been beautifully integrated into the design of the space. As such, I have always felt perfectly safe patronizing this coffeehouse. Being greeted by a friendly and familiar face each week and enjoying a coffee and a pastry in their outside seating has provided a soothing sense of normalcy and routine that I can't overstate. I'm grateful to Cedar House for staying open and keeping our bellies filled and hearts warm all year long. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! GO CHECK IT OUT!! Everything from the outstanding service, to the one-of-a-kind coffee's, this place is great. Simply DELICIOUS! and.. super unique and fun rustic interior. This brand-new coffee shop will soon be Flagstaff's best! They also sell tons of cute trinkets, old-fashion candies, unique candles and other gifts for sale. They said they will soon carry Sugar Mama's pastries (which are amazing!) and deli easy-grab foods from Stage Left deli (which is delicious and located in down town Flagstaff). I can't wait for that to happen so this can be my one-stop-shop! The coffee beans are from all over the world and a different one is featured every couple of days. Nothing but a great experience. Later I had a hot tea. They have a dozen selections of a high end British tea, by appointment to Prince Phillip or whomever. I loved the cozy ambiance. There are tables and comfortable chairs. The music is quiet. The artwork is pretty. There are a few coffee table travel books. There is outdoor seating along Cedar street, which is not too busy. This is a neighborhood coffeehouse. I think some customers walk here from the surrounding residential neighborhood. The parking opportunities are limited. There are 2-3 parking spots in front of the coffeehouse, and we got one. The shop is located on a corner, so the other parking option is to leave your car on the residential side street. I liked this place. read more

This café is a very cozy, welcoming place. I love their mochas that get topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle (the only time I drink mochas). The staff is friendly and the owner is nice.
