We had a very nice dinner here on a cold winter evening. Our server, Lucas, was very attentive and helpful. There was a small problem with my entree, and he took care of it right away, and then reduced the price by 50%. Our friends really enjoyed the lobster Mac n cheese, pork schnitzel, and smash burger. Ate here two day straight because we had no where to go due to the storm. First off, service was great both times we were here. All the staff worked well like an oiled machine. 5/5 for service. Jeff was our bartender and he was super sweet and very good and making his specialty drinks. We had a Bloody Mary and old fashion and both were nice and strong. 5/5 for drinks In terms of food however it was a hit or miss. The ratings are as follows per item 5/5 table bread and butter were super yummy. Nice warm sourdough bread with butter 1/5 Gumbo. Tasted muddy and I missed the rice, okra, shrimp. 1/5 for using crawfish mainly but the taste was not right at all 5/5 pepperoni flat bread. My kid likes it 3/5 Kid's spaghetti and meatballs. My kid didn't mind it but I didn't like it. The meatballs lacked seasoning 5/5 Fish and chips were cooked perfectly and was very tasty 2/5 Tuna cones were a bit salty with too much soysauce. A ponzu sauce would have made it more balanced. I didn't like the crepe cones and would have enjoyed a wonton wrapper instead. The tuna, mango, and avocado was nice and fresh. 5/5 Mac and cheese, my kid loved it 3/5 kids burger was dry and was the missing the lettuce we ordered with it 5/5 brownie with ice cream. My kid ate the whole thing without leaving me a taste 3/5 chocolate cake had flavor but was not moist 4/5 Pistachio cheesecake had the right amount of sweetness and the compote was tart enough to balance the cheesecake. Excellent food for reasonable prices. We had a lovely experience on the terrace on a warm summer night looking over the pine forest. I had the trout with green curry and it was very fresh and a great mix of flavors. My boyfriend had the make your own salad with the steak on the side. The salad components were very fresh and high quality. The steak was cooked perfectly and they added a little chimchuri sauce, which was excellent. The service was very attentive. The food was good but it could improve, the pizza was kinda burnt, but it was still a good meal. The chips needed a little more salt, we added some and it didn't taste like anything. Nice atmosphere on the deck in the summer and cozy and warm in the winter inside . Great friendly service. The menu offers something for everyone. My favorites are the Build a Salad and the Ahi. Very reasonably priced wine list... you can actual get a glass of wine for $8! There are lots of choices on the higher end too. I have lived in Tahoe for many years and I didn't know about this little gem. Went with the ladies and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Service was a bit off, but it was a very busy week in Tahoe. Three of us had the flank steak which tasted more like a tenderloin! Delicious! Steaks were accompanied by yummy scalloped potatoes and broccolini. The others had the chicken schnitztel which was also very very good. Nice family atmosphere and the prices were reasonable. Mixed feelings, I have been here a couple of times when staying at Granlibakken Tahoe for winter trips. We always had great experience dining in, the food was big portioned and very comforting, love their steak, onion soup, chick schnitzel and man the sourdough is legit. However, just ordered their takeout was thinking to order from somewhere close by will at least make the food hot, boy I was so wrong. The beef goulash was cold already when we got our order (even went there early to wait for food, but still), beef already became tough to chew. And the fish and chips, it's probably the worst I've ever had. Stale cold fries, the batter on the fish already soggy and falling apart (how long the food has been sitting there? Why not call us to get it?!), worst yet, no seasoning on the fries (now I started to miss my ski resort friends for lunch... So if you want to go eat here, make reservations and dine in, cuz this would be my last time order their takeout. read more

I believe the table next to us were experiencing the same thing. Carlos, who I believe I believe the GM is probably the hospitable person I have encountered. He shares all the hot items, and is honest about what sells and what doesn't. So got a hot menu item and one that isn't selling as much, and I'll tell you they were both amazing! We started with two soups, the corn and French onion, and those bowls were empty before they knew what was coming lol. There is a very eclectic menu from anything German with the schnitzel (incredible) to a culotte steak which was just as good and cooked amazing! All staff works together on sections and you are constantly being cared for and attended. The ambience is so warm and cozy, with holiday themed jazz setting the mood for a great dinner in a venue that sets the scene of "lodgy, cozy, and calming". We had just got there at open and we were treated incredibly and they set the fire up with logs and made sure our experience was exemplary. If you're in Tahoe, regardless South or North Lake, this must be a stop! 10/10 would highly recommend. read more

We ate outside and it was nice.. kinda felt like you were in a treehouse. Food was just ok. I got the salmon and it was good but cold. Potatoes had no flavor. My son liked his steak sandwich. My husbands hamburger was bad. Definitely not a half pound as advertised. He asked for medium and it was well done and looked more like a pre frozen burger than fresh. Experience here was strange to say the least. Started off with a call to confirm our reservation. Someone at the hotel front desk told us there was no phone number for the restaurant and they would pass on a message and call back. No one ever called us back and the receptionist seemed annoyed we would even try to reach the restaurant. The summer menu is very limited. The restaurant has a great setting, but the food offerings are limited to basic salads, burgers, and hot dogs. Seemed odd for a place that brands itself as "comfort food with a gourmet twist". There wasn't a gourmet twist on anything. The menu very clearly stated a hot dog comes with relish and sour kraut and house made chips. When the order arrived the chips were replaced with fries. The hot dog also came with nothing on the side besides ketchup. I'm not sure what is gourmet about a hot dog with a bun and only ketchup. We are talking no relish, no mustard, no anything, just a bun and ketchup. When we asked about the sides that were clearly listed on the menu the staff seemed very surprised we would ask. They returned 15 minutes later and gave me some onions. It became apparent they didn't actually have what was on the menu. In the end it seemed absurd to pay $9 for a Costco hotdog with no toppings. Similarly the house salad that stated it came with blue cheese crumbles had no cheese. Aside from the menu being limited to tailgate food, the service seemed all over the place and there was constant confusion from the wait staff. Someone also took away my girlfriends plate while she was literally in the middle of taking a bite. By the end of dinner we started to wonder if we were on a prank show, and the whole meal was an elaborate joke. The review is two stars instead of one because the physical space is actually pretty cool. The outdoor deck is surrounded by trees and could be an amazing dining experience if done properly. Also, while I understand a lot of restaurants have had challenges with Covid, we visited well after all lockdown restrictions were lifted and every other restaurant we have visited in Tahoe is up and running. read more

Lucky enough to have eaten at the Pub twice in the last month. Both of my meals were excellent and the service was terrific. The Thai curry vegetable bowl with chicken was a menu special mid-week. Very generous portions and deep, satisfying flavor. Most recently, the fish and chips was, in my opinion, the best fish and chips in the north Tahoe area. There were so many "little" things, but I would mention only the two most glaring ones: * It took an HOUR AND FIFTY MINUTES for our food to arrive. Yes, you read it right, almost two hours until we got our food. We're not talking about any gourmet complicated stuff - we're talking about salads for the adults and Mac and Cheese for the kids. After 45 minutes, we asked what's going on. We got a response that there was a problem with "printing the ticket". Unfortunate, but mistakes can happen, right? So we assumed they are now going to rush it, right? Wrong. Another hour+ passed with waiters keep promising "it's coming up" and nothing happens. And then, after 1:50 hours, our vegan diner who specifically asked for "no cheese" got her salad... covered with cheese. * We ordered three Mai-Tai drinks. We're not heavy drinkers but we kinda know what Mai-Tai is. All three diners took a sip and immediately said the same thing: It has no alcohol. It was literally just juice. We asked the waiter and he responded that he is absolutely sure there are two shots inside. It was quite clear that wasn't the case (probably an honest mistake) but we didn't want this to escalate to an argument so we simply asked if they can add a shot. His response: "We will have to charge you for the extra shot". So, here we are, ordering a $200+ dinner and negotiation over adding money for another shot to a flawed drink that we already paid for. The worst part: One of the diners just returned their Mai-Tai, almost untouched (probably not a fun of juice). You would imagine they will take it off the bill and charge us for only TWO Mai-Tai's instead of THREE, right? Wrong! We were charged for FOUR Mai-Tai's. Why? I have no idea but at this point, I stopped assuming it was all honest mistakes. As mentioned, there were a lot of other things you wouldn't expect from this kind of place (dirty plates, for example). But you get the picture. Avoid! read more

We were excited to return to the Granlibakken Resort in Tahoe after many years. Their onsite restaurant, Cedar House Pub, is amazing and we ended up eating there 6 of our 7 nights. The whole staff is amazing and the food is great but I want to especially call out Carlos and Lucas for their above and beyond customer service, hospitality and attention to detail. Came back to Granlibakken for the first time in 20 years. Had dinner almost every night at Cedar House. Food was excellent. The wait staff was outstanding, especially Carlos and Lucas.
