Short ribs (still bubbling from the broiler) and homemade pappardelle pasta with arugula pesto, asparagus, leeks and artichoke.

Dog and Bear is such a west shore gem! Don't be put off by the lack of reservations or the location next to the post office in a tiny corner of Tahoma. The food is legit! From the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted by several staff members, we knew this was someplace special. It's tiny and does fill up, especially in July, but we arrived a little early and had no trouble getting one of the last tables. I've seen other guests mention that it is a bit pricey, but the portions are huge and you will have leftovers! We shared the homemade pasta and the short ribs, and the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was amazing and inventive and showed the skill of the professionally trained chef, Jesse. Every staff member was warm and friendly and made us feel like family. Thank you, Dog and Bear!

Ate here twice in two weeks recently. Loved the very tentative and friendly female bartender. She helped me pick a red wine that I would enjoy drinking, and I did. My friend and I tried the Wedge salad and for pizzas we ordered The Local and Hot Hawaiian. Everything was delicious! Their ranch dressing is house made and so delicious I could drink it from a glass. Ok I wouldn't do that but it is that good. For dessert, the Warm Foccacia Bread Putting is a MUST. I enjoy sitting at the bar and catching up with other locals or chatting with the tourists. I'm looking forward to my next pizza craving in Tahoma because I know exactly where I'm headed!

Pretty good pizza spot with quick takeout. The mushroom pizza was nice, loved the garlic confit. The side of pickles were tasty too! A family member picked up the food, so I can't speak to the ambience, but the food was fresh, made to order, and served in convenient containers to take back to our Airbnb.

Dog and Bear is the kind of place you stumble into thinking you'll grab a quick bite, and then realize--halfway through your second drink--you've been roped into staying a while. And thank God for that. First off, let's talk about the beer. They've got this Frankenstein concoction--NewGlory pale ale cut with Mammoth Brewing Co.'s sour--that tastes like someone melted down a bag of sour gummy worms and decided it belonged in a pint glass. Sounds wrong, right? But it works. Sharp, tart, neon-bright--it wakes you up, kicks your palate in the teeth, and makes you remember that beer doesn't always have to play by the rules. Then there's the pizza. Mushroom pizza, to be precise. And because we're the kind of degenerates who always want more of the good stuff, we doubled down and added sausage. Earthy, savory, almost meaty in its richness--this wasn't just a pizza, it was a sermon on the beauty of this melody of mushrooms and meat. Service is excellent and we couldn't be more grateful for their help navigating this beautiful menu. It was the perfect spot to mark our one year of marriage-- fun, fresh, unexpected in the best ways, and full of flavor. Much like this last year... PS. Our dog Nala looks forward to your next upgrade- a dog friendly patio. PSS. Missed connections- I like your lobster sweater

What might make this place so fantastic is how incredibly unsuspecting it is, tucked off two-thirds of the way from South Lake to Tahoe City. It didn't appear on any of my restaurant searches when I was trip planning, but thankfully our friends had been there and recommended it for dinner. I took one look at the menu and knew a legit chef had crafted it. The menu is a serious work art and everything we had was delicious - truffle popcorn, deviled eggs, "The Local" pizza and octopus, plus we tried our friends' yellow fin crudo. Every dish was fresh with brilliant flavors and thoughtful ingredients. Our server was very attentive, as well. We didn't make room for dessert but I have no doubt they would've been tasty. The house ice cream today was lemon bar flavor, which sounded great. We'll be hard pressed, I think, to have a better meal during the rest of our visit to Tahoe!

We randomly stumbled on this restaurant. Thank goodness we did. The service was very quick and efficient. We were seated and served pretty quickly . The food was very fresh and delicious. If you're in the mood for pizza I def recommend getting the truffle pizza. The smell, texture and the way the pizza was cooked was absolutely perfect. The truffle pizza will def leave a long lasting impression on us. My husband doesn't typically avoids anything with mushrooms but it was so delicious he helped me finish the whole pizza. We're currently visiting from Denver so we are a little Bummed that we won't be able to come back so easily. If you're in the area we def recommend stopping here.

Place is a gem in South Lake Tahoe, after a day of boarding, since you can't find much like it. Def Bay Area prices and it's alright for what you get. Really paying for the cozy experience, but probably a little too expensive for what you get. Coppa pizza and affogato were the best things from everything we ordered. Mushroom pizza was ok but lacked flavor. Wedge salad was good but not sure it's worth $17, same with brussel sprouts for the portion. Owner served us and he was sweet! Beer options are many things you'd expect from your average tavern. Nice to have some choice tho.

Best pizza on the Lake. I always order the " locals pizza". The Cobb salad is very good. Good beers on tap.

We basically waited 10 minutes to get seated when we walked in. Information about happy hour can be very confusing as their website has different hours than their IG. When we were seated they seated us directly against a wall with very limited table space for four girls. We ordered wine flights (actually a great deal 4 wines for $25) and apps. We all were very hungry as we just got off a plane but they don't really have anything that is meal worthy more or less just small bites. The burrata was so yummy but the toasts were a little hard. Buffalo cauliflower dip was great and I loved the combination because I would've never thought to have a dip with cauliflower, cheese and buffalo sauce! When we ordered the apps we didn't have any table space left and the waiter took quite a while to pick up our prior plates and bring our bill. If you want outdoor seating I would recommend you go early as it fills up very fast and anything over two people will be hard to get in.

Becca offered to host. Originally she was going to donate wine to the venue but she was helpful enough to offer a place to have it instead. It was a lovely spot. No hard liquor, just beer, wine, cider, and mixed cocktails that are in that category. Beautiful venue. We would have had it outside but the weather was getting pretty cold so we moved inside. A little tight but still an overall success. Would definitely come back because of her hospitality and the wonderful staff. Also outdoors is great with open fire and heaters provided on patio sidewalk. Wine selection is extensive also offering Natural Wines a new wine process. The food was delicious I especially recommend the miso butter scallops ($18). They also had reasonably priced charcuterie boards. Lastly, for dessert you can have your choice of s'mores to enjoy out on the patio.
