Let me start by saying that the service is ALWAYS excellent. This review if for food, and is an averages of my many visits. I have posted some photos of some phenomenal dishes. I have had at Manzanita. I have had some of my best and unfortunately truly worst dishes at this restaurant. This is 100% unacceptable for a resort of this caliber. I had the worst meal ever on Wednesday night. The Amuse-Boucher was the only hit. It was , The fact that the hotel was maybe 10% occupancy is no excuse. I had to send back the tuna sashimi, which seemed to irritate the chef. It did not look good, but I did try it and it tasted terrible. The clam "pottage" had the consistency that I prefer (thin and not rouxlike) but found only bacon/ham chunks and no clams. The Brussels sprouts were okay. So I paid the $100 tab and we went to the lobby bar for a cocktail and chicken sandwich. Most photos are from the 5 star dinners

We have been to the Ritz in Half Moon Bay and were excited to go to this location. The valet and entrance to the hotel reminded me a little of Vegas... very swanky. The Manzanita is elegant, modern and chic at the same time very comfortable, not stuffy. The dining room is an open concept and you can see the chefs and staff working in the kitchen. Our waitress was fantastic - very professional and attentive. I was a little surprised to see such a short menu of options. My glass of wine was almost $40. We ordered the Tuna Sashimi appetizer and it was brought with a crunchy seaweed roll that was difficult to break up. The tuna was good with the sauce provided. Next, we split the double pork chop. It was served family style where we had to plate it ourselves. There were four pieces and only one piece had sauce on it. The meat was tough and over cooked. What a disappointment. However, the add-on truffle mashed potatoes were delicious. Dessert was also a highlight. All in all, expensive and not that good. We won't be back.

Great place to have a good dinner night at the resort. The staff is excellent! The food is good and they have a couple of funky things that I'm not use to, but overall it was good. It's more on the mid-pricey range. Not my favorite place at the Ritz, but still good.

We stayed the night at the Ritz for my bday, and I had been wanting to try Manazanita out for awhile, so I was very happy we went! And it was great, amazing food and great service too! We had a nice bottle of Pinot, and a great conversation with the som. She was very informative and made some great food menu recommendations as well. We got the bread with the black garlic butter, the clam chowder (but a fancy version of clam chowder, more like a bisque), the sunchokes appetizer, the pork chop, Brussels sprouts and a yummy lemon dessert! It was all great, and we will definitely be back the next time we are up in the Tahoe area! So if you're looking for fine dining in North lake, you should definitely go here. I've tried all the nice spots in town, and this restaurant is top notch!

This is a great date night or special occasion restaurant as it's upscale but with a casual mountain vibe. The service is superior and the food is seasonal and eclectic. The menu is not extensive but the food is excellent and has something for everyone to enjoy. We ordered a couple of appetizers and sides to share and each got our own entree. Everything was plated beautifully and visually appealing. They present a complimentary first round of focaccia ($2.50 per slice after that) and a complimentary spiced tea to enjoy alongside it. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made sure to acknowledge it with a special dessert plate and candle. My favorite dish of the night was the 72 hour short rib. It was cooked perfectly, not fatty, and garnished with delicious sauces and micro greens. In addition, there was a fun dessert that looked like a campfire.

Everything tasted amazing! I loved the flank steak. It was perfection! The creme brûlée was also delicious.

I know prices reflect it's on a ski slope in a ritz Carlton, but menu is limited and it's crazy expensive relative to quality of food. My tenderloin here is medium rare. That being said, I will eat here again next time we are skiing at the ritz.

Lovely ambiance, amazing service, and delicious food. We've had the perfect time at every visit for the past few years. The cocktails are served beautifully and tasty. Cocktails and apps by the bar is ideal if you don't have a reservation. We had dinner at the bar once and it was livelier but classy. The menu changes, which is a nice touch to keep things interesting. From entering the restaurant with our coats taken, to the genuine welcome and courteous walk to the table, the sommelier recommendation of a fine wine, and the server's attentiveness, to the extravagant tasting cocktails from the bartender and the decadent dishes by the chef, including the warming farewell at the end of the night - it's always a wonderful experience at Manzanita.

The menu looks very simple, so I wasn't super excited when booking a table, but WOW! The food is great! A simple menu with food prepared perfectly. It is a restaurant to save for special memories, such as a ski trip with friends and family.

The service was great! Our server was very sweet. It's beautiful inside and very clean and relaxing. I think the food is good, not really memorable, but slightly overpriced for what you get. My favorite was probably the side salad and the apple dessert. The truffle potato that was a side of the venison was also delicious!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's actually pretty spacious inside. We did have to wait a little bit to get a menu, but once we got one, we ordered our drinks and food. We got the Margherita pizza, and it was SO good! I loved how crispy the crust was. When you picked up a slice, it didn't just flop over. It stayed nice and crispy. It had so much flavor, and I was seriously so happy with it. I also got the Help Wanted drink, and it was really good too. I think I found my new favorite pizza spot! If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by. I'm already planning to go back so I can try more of their pizzas and appetizers!

The quality of the food, and the care that used to go into preparing and presenting it, has completely fallen off a cliff. During my most recent visit this week I noticed that much of the kitchen staff seemed to be different from the team I've seen over the past few years. The pizza was genuinely disappointing. The crust lacked flavor, the toppings were sparse and it felt like something that had been rushed out of the kitchen with little attention to detail. Even the presentation was careless, which was surprising because this restaurant used to take pride in what they served. It's frustrating to see a place that I used to recommend decline this much. I really hope the upper management takes a look at what's happening to the restaurant because the Old Town Tap I used to enjoy no longer seems to exist.

We typically order from the bar portion of the menu at water bar/ short rib tacos, tenderloin burgers, cobb salad etc and those options are very good but we decided to try out the top end of the menu and it was pretty good but not great. Bacon wrapped Filet was under seasoned. and didn't have a great sear on it like really good steakhouses do. I felt like the sauce/gravy and mashed potatoes carried the flavor on the dish and the meat didn't have a savory flavor and you really needed the sauce because the meat alone would've been mediocre. Luckily the sauce and potatoes were tasty and the dish was overall good. Seasoning that steak top and bottom and a proper searing would take it from good to great!! 7.5/10 My wife ordered the halibut and it was pretty good but not great. A little dry , needed a little more seasoning and love to be a great dish. Risotto was just an uninteresting glob of goo with no flavor. When you pay 54$ for a fish dish , you expect it to be really good....... i'd say the halibut was 6/10 - room for improvement . Great location with lake views and the pier and marina right there. Love that they had tables on the pier, the location definitely elevates the experience !! 10/10 Mocha ice cream cake/ mud pie dessert is awesome , one of my favorites at the water bar....... Next visit to Gar Woods I will stick to burgers , salads and short rib tacos but the location makes it worth eating here no matter what you order but i feel like the 25-30$ offerings are tastier and you get more bang for your buck!!! Cheers!

Our server was friendly and efficient. He has been with the company for more than ten years and his professionalism along with his personality made him top notch. I wish I could say the same about the food consistency. We both started out with their signature drink - the Wet Woody. This drink is very tasty. My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna fish of the day. It was blackened and seared rare. It was perfectly cooked and tasty. It came with wasabi mashed potatoes and an arugula salad. The potatoes were good but the salad was overdressed. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad. The salad was mixed greens along with olives, blue cheese, bacon, an egg, avocado, cucumber, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette. Again, the salad was overdressed and the ingredients were rather scarce. The chicken was on skewers. The chicken was rubbery, dry and tough - so much so, I had to wrestle them off the skewers. I ended up taking one bite and not eating the rest. I had a strawberry milkshake to go for dessert. That was delicious. We have been coming here for years but will likely not make the drive again. Their sister restaurant, Rivas Grill, is much more consistently good. If I could, I would rate a 3.5.
