Came here with some friends post Fourth of July and surprisingly got seated immediately with no wait right next to one of the prettiest views! The food and drinks here were great everyone was super happy with their orders. Food took a little bit of time to come out but you get easily distracted with the view around you this is a great place to come with friends and family The burgers here are amazing!

We paddle board to this place. We waited at the bar for our seats. I do have to say that the drinks are a little pricier and a bit weak, so stick with beer :) the food is also on the pricier side only because you are paying for that gorgeous view. We liked our server very much We ordered the fried calamari, fish tacos and something else I can't remember. It was okay no highlights here. Overall Decent if you want to chill, have some drinks enjoy the view and nibble.

July 2025: We visited Sunnyside again with some out-of-town visitors. We arrived around 11:20 and were able to get a table without a reservation. We started with the fried zucchini, which is definitely worth it as an appetizer. My wife and I then just split the fish tacos, which Sunnyside plated separately for us. My sister and brother-in-law split the fish and chips (also plated separately) and they loved it. We were really tempted by the Hula Pie, which we saw a couple of tables receive, but it is MASSIVE, so we passed this time. I suspect my wife and I will sometime stop by Sunnyside just for that (alongside a beer too maybe).

This salmon bowl was absolutely amazing. The vibes out on the deck are always fun and lively. I've tried the chicken bowl and a salad here. The food never disappoints. The staff is friendly and provides quick service. They allow dogs on the patio. Always a great experience at Sunnyside. I definitely recommend stopping by during your Tahoe City/Homewood vacation!

We had an amazing lunch with amazing views, despite some (totally expected and threatening) rain that drove half of our group inside (the other half had full effects of the large umbrellas.) I had the mahi-mahi fish tacos and they were yummy, as were the chips. I was surprised they didn't have angry orchard, but tried the golden state cider, which was pretty good.

Wonderful lake ambiance, prompt service for drinks. Consistent. Great place to see Lake Tahoe and chill.

First of all the setting along the lake is amazing especially at sunset. The salmon bowl was very tasty as was the fish tacos. The Thai seafood dish had good flavor but really needed rice to go along. For $44 it should include rice as it's not enough food for a meal. Unfortunately the meals took excessive time and our server never updated us this delay.

We had a gift card to use at Sunnyside and have been meaning to come here for quite some time. We live in Reno and come up to ski at Squaw every weekend, but often don't make it past there to Tahoe City. After a warm spring ski day, we decided to come check out Sunnyside to have an early dinner on their patio! They open for dinner at 4pm and there were several others groups who also arrived at that time to snag a great patio spot. They don't allow people to sit at the patio tables unless they order food which I think is a good idea. Otherwise, people would have drinks out there for hours and never leave. How could you with that view?! The lake view from the patio is phenomenal. We chose a table at the end of the patio that was in the sun and as close to the water as we could get. They even have lots of windows inside that would make it a beautiful dining experience when weather is not as ideal. I got a glass of wine and my husband had a beer to start. We wanted an appetizer and had to go with their fried zucchini, a staple that they have been serving here since 1965! I'm from the South and grew up with fried zucchini--I can say this is some of the best I've had! The zucchini slices are thicker than usual. The breading is light and crispy yet still preserves the softness of the zucchini. We loved it! My husband and I both got the fish and chips for our entrees. It was a unique take on the classic dish because this fried fish was halibut, not cod or haddock like you usually see. The fish was more dense and less flaky. Just like the fried zucchini, we were impressed with the batter and how they fried the fish. It was not too thick or greasy, it was just the right amount to go with the juicy halibut inside. Even the fries were great! We skipped on dessert this time but definitely want to try the hula pie next time, we were intrigued by the macadamia nut ice cream. We had such a great experience here! The food was delicious, everything came out quickly with only a short wait, and staff were friendly. The best part of all was the lake view! You can't beat the view here, it takes your breath away for the entire meal. Not many places can be better than this on a warm sunny day! They have different deals and events depending on the day of the week, including some nights with live music. We will definitely be coming back again!

Our server was terrific. The zucchini sticks were as good as I had them 20 years ago. Order them and enjoy. Celebrated my Mom's Birthday. The restaurant made her feel so special. Highly recommended

I ordered the filet mignon. This is what came out. Dry hockey puck of meat that tasted horrible with a glob of slimey green stuff on the side. No other sides came out with it. They forgot, server Shawn brought them after the fact and they were also dissatisfying. But really, for a $60 entree, this is what I got.... ****Update: In response to this, management completely made it right by buying our round of drinks the next time we dined in. There was a noticeable difference in both the quality of food and service. Will be back again.

We started with the lobster small dish as an appetizer and our 7 year old devoured most of it. It was so delicious. They were incredibly accommodating for my gluten-free and dairy-free needs. I was impressed with how they had special menus for each of my diet restrictions - the items to avoid were crossed off (see pic) which made it super easy to follow. My black cod was AMAZING, cooked perfectly, just the right amount of complimenting flavors and ingredients, in addition to great broccoli. Lastly, the fact they had even one gluten-free/dairy-free dessert option was mind blowing. I was so pumped. It was a smooth and super flavorful coconut passion fruit house made sorbet. I was in heaven. This isn't your typical dining establishment and their food definitely showcases that. And the views do too, holy smokes. Talk about a wag to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe! We had a celebration dinner here and it was wonderful. The entire staff made an effort to make our evening special and memorable. The dishes were thoughtfully prepared with local, fresh ingredients. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Mine was a little off, due to my request to modify the dish. I have chemo food sensitivities. The servers were exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. You can tell the staff and owner take pride in making sure everyone has an enjoyable dining experience. The next day, the owner sent a very nice email to me, thanking us for choosing their restaurant for such a special occasion. Which I found very thoughtful and personable. The views are everything! Definitely an ideal location, right on the water.

Very nice location…read more You know you're at a cool restaurant when you have people pulling up on their boat to the dock for a reservation they made for dinner. That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea the next time we come here...West Shore Cafe was pretty good. There were 5 of us so we all ordered a ton of food(see pics). Service was on point and food for the most part was good but there was one item lacking and that was the Truffle Fries. Normally one thing wouldn't bother us so much but a lot of of us are potato connoisseur and especially love Truffle. So the fact that the flavor was absent in the fries was a little of a let down. Easy fix though. I would just add more Truffle Oil or whatever Truffle ingredient you add to the fries. Aside from that, all of us had a really good time and definitely would come back.

The place is gorgeous right next to the lake, you can't get views that close just anywhere! The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was good, but nothing really gave it that wow factor enough to justify their high prices. There's plenty of parking with their own private lot, but my only other complaint is they don't have a lot of food options to choose from. They explained that it's because of the pandemic, but hopefully they figure things out soon so they can expand their menu a little bit more.
