Came here for our last breakfast in Tahoe. Hostess was very kind and welcoming and we were quickly seated. We got the window to the street in the corner. It's a little tight for 5 people to have enough table space for everything we ordered. The food was all pretty good - pretty typical diner breakfast food. The orange juice was delicious! Big serving of pancake just wished I had more butter and it's something I likely could've asked for. The only thing I'd say was it took a little bit to get the check but they seemed slammed. Came in with my 5 year old and a 2 year old for lunch on a Tuesday. 56$ for one adult and two kids. Caesar salad was watery, with 0 seasoning. Impossible to add pepper, as the pepper and salt mills on the table hadn't been churned or cleaned in weeks, and I don't trust taking off the lid - if it doesn't shake out, the clumps won't add any flavor. When I say watery, there was less salad dressing (possibly less than a tablespoon of dressing) than water on the lettuce. There was no dressing on the bottom of the bowl; the advantage of a lot of watery lettuce is that there was a nice soup of shredded costco parmesan and water. 6oz of grilled chicken with no seasoning for 20.99. Ordered a plain kids hamburger, received a cheeseburger, charged for a cheeseburger. I don't understand how a cook can mess up an order for a plain, no-topping hamburger, but they did have a sign for "HIRING COOK ALL SHIFTS" out front, so I guess the kitchen is what it is right now. 6 Dino nuggies and approximately 10 French fries on each plate. Didn't even get out of the restaurant before the kids were complaining about the taste; fry oil was rancid or the frozen French fries had de-temped and soaked in thaw starch before re-feezing, air frying, and being served to my kids. When a 2 year old refuses to eat dino nuggies, you know they're dried to a crisp. This is worse than graveyard casino food from the shadiest meth cooks money can't afford, and I've been a security guard for those spots. Didn't even have an ice maker for drinks in here - this place needs to just close up and offer some better tenants the space to do something besides greaseslop. I don't understand how a cafe offering food this bland, flavorless, reheated-in-an-air fryer can stay open on main street in Tahoe City. It was hospital food being served to a number of retirees with digestive conditions. read more

The secret's out! This popular cafe is my favorite place for a hearty breakfast on the North Shore. Sure, there's usually a line, but the earlier you eat, the shorter it is. I've been here for years, so there's a mix of photos from past and present, though not much has changed. The vintage decor is awesome! We like to nosh in the main room, but you can eat at the bar, too. If it's nice weather, the porch is primo for people-watching. My go-to is the 2x2x2 for $16.99. We're talking two eggs (I usually ask for scrambled.), two pieces of bacon and two massive pancakes that are topped with more than enough butter. This ample meal keeps me satisfied until dinner. We also love the zucchinni bread ($3.99), which is warm and delicious. Service is fine, and we've been able to find street parking. Have a rosy time! read more

Our server was friendly and attentive. I did order my eggs over easy and they showed up to the table overcooked. They wanted to know if that was OK. NO, that is not what I ordered and sent them back. Friends and I stopped in here for a quite bit, the plague doctor next to the front was a huge surprised - they definitely were into the Halloween mood ... I almost wished we were here around Halloween! We did come in for a late lunch, was seated pretty quickly. It was quite a sunny day when we came in so to have a puddle of water under our table was a surprised, was probably a spill that was missed during clean up. There's a lot of little trinkets, bikes and random decor that keeps it interesting looking around. The older gentleman that took our order did seem a bit dismissive to us, but at least our orders were taken and arrived after a bit. We had to eat quickly as the wait was a bit longer than we expected. Most of us got burgers and they were just decent simple burgers, the fries that came with it were very salty though. It did need a few smacks to try to shake some salt off each bite. As for the burgers, they were a little soggy - but overall decent normal burgers. Sandwich was as we would expect. As for the side salads... we were a bit confused that the cucumbers were warm on the salad. I initially thought it was warm because it was against the burger... but no, it was just 2 slices of warm cucumber on the salad. That was certainly strange, but negligible to be set aside from the salad. Final Thoughts: Prices are fairly decent and such. It was a decent quick lunch, but nothing too noteworthy overall. This is a classic Lake Tahoe diner and worth stopping by! The food is delicious and they have lots of options to satisfy most people. Their Bloody Mary is also really good! What's the saying I would give 0 stars if I could lol. My 90 year old blind grandmother made better. We were quite a large group and wanted to be seated together.. the place was pretty empty with 1 other guest the crew was quite unpleasant, instead of letting us join tables so we could sit together was just rude about it and said it is what it is you can sit separately.. we suggested maybe to sit at another area without joining tables but they were not having it.. 2 of our friends left (the rest of us were just too tired to find another place) the food was ok nothing special.. they also charged an extra 3% fee for credit card use.. probably should have gone to the place with the better views, this one was just faced to the street.. read more

Came here with my dear friend and to my amazement, the food was superb! I ordered an omelette with jack cheese, mushrooms, spinach and sausage, sour dough toast and crispy hash browns. The food was fresh and tasty. My friend had the eggs Benedict which she enjoyed immensely! We had to try the strawberry shortcake and it was literally the best I've ever had! The service was great, we were seated immediately, our order taken and it food arrived in a timely manner. The ambiance is very unique and fun! Lots to see! We were in Tahoe City and stopped into Rosie's Cafe around 1pm for lunch. I had high hopes, especially after seeing the picture of the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich on the menu. Unfortunately, we were informed that they had already run out of their rolls for sandwiches (it wasn't yet 1:15pm) and they would instead be able to make any of the sandwiches on one of their breads. I popped over to Fat Cat's Bar & Grill (a couple of doors away) to check out the place and met someone leaving there who has eaten at both restaurants. He indicated that Fat Cat's was the better choice. So, we decided to leave Rosie's. This place has been a stalwart eatery for me since the early 80's when I was a college student in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe was a frequent visitor to the area. My classmate buddy's family had and still has a condo in Incline Village and Rosie's was a fun drive as a breakfast destination, even in the dregs of those college hangovers, but when you're young, even those were worth it. And so, Rosie's was always a welcomed treat in the morning, some cups of coffee and a hearty meal, perhaps before hitting the slopes or going back to the condo to, what else?...go back to sleep. Perhaps it wasn't just that the food was consistently good, but the ambience, the reliability of it being there and the memories throughout the years, this is a personal legacy place. And on this visit, with all the vintage decorative junk all over the place, this isn't just a food place to me, it's a place where a whole lot of youth happened, my middle ages and it continues on as I enter my senior years. We had a cheeseburger and a ahi sandwich here last week. Both were served with a very fresh salad. The cheeseburger was better than the ahi, but it needed onion and pickle to make it better. Service was meh, not impressed at all. The old guy that is a waiter seemed as if he were very disinterested in the customer, and that's ok if it works for him. Anbience- lots of bicycles, and I like that, but not a fan of decorating the walls with the remains of animals killed for little or no reason. We came on a Friday brunch and there was a large table sat ahead of us. But don't think that stopped the service - our server was quick and attentive and so friendly. Food was amazing! Food was alright - I had eggs Benedict with fruit instead of hash browns. The fruit was definitely cut and stored in the fridge causing some questionable quality. My husband had biscuits and gravy giving it a 4/5. Service was not great. Sat for a while before being acknowledged. When he came over he asked for food orders so we skipped any drinks. Another server was so rude to the party who had their dog. Dogs are allowed so you'd think she would be kinder about it. I had the cheeseburger with blue cheese and they put too much blue cheese that it overpowered the whole meal. I've had the same kind of burger at other places where I enjoyed the balanced flavor. I'm guessing this is a hot spot for tourist. Our hotel wanted to charge us $20ea for some super basic buffet style breakfast, hell. NO. For $20 each, definitely would rather go out to a restaurant near by. Passed by Rosie's a few times and it always looked busy so we wanted to go to early before their peak hours aka brunch time. The restaurant is so cute and unique with all their decor and service was good! I always tend to get breakfast items I normally do not cook at home. Not can't but just simply do not.
