They have laundry service, which was fantastic as we were able to do a load of laundry after being in the ocean for several days. We rented a golf cart, though I wish we would have asked the price before agreeing to rent it. We probably only used it an hour and paid 70.00 so that wasn't worth it for us, but that was clearly our fault for not having a better idea if we would really use it. You can't take the golf carts to the beach, so I suggest to make sure you really will use it before renting them. Breakfast and coffee came with the reservation. Overall great place to stay if you're traveling to Ocracoke Island.

The rooms are great, and we actually like the fact that there are no small children staying there (sorry folks) and that you don't run into the staff often. The guests are always friendly and breakfast is great. However, one huge complaint....their parking structure. The last time we stayed in the inn, there were golf carts parked in the car lot...enough of them to limit parking if not completely wiping out all parking spaces. Per the rules, this is not allowed and golf carts need to be parked in the designated golf cart area, but it was not enforced and I got anxiety every time I took my car out thinking we might not get a space when we get back (yes, we had a golf cart too, but car went driving on the beach). I'm on vacation...I don't need any more anxiety! Another complaint...people were hoarding the bikes instead of putting them back on the rack when they were done. I ended up just stealing one from someone's door lol. I don't think this is relevant anymore because I think they got rid of the bikes...but still was an annoyance.

They have most everything else. We would stay again but remember to bring sand rugs to put next to the bed and in the bathroom. We did find an outdoor shower next to the pool to clean off before going inside. We didn't want to put that much sand down the plumbing system. The Air conditioner is LOUD, bed is hard and noisy. That's the bad of it. The room stays cool and dark if you want it. Not in direct sun. Nice little porch off A and both have separate entrances. My husband and I stayed in B with my parents in A. The kitchen was nicely appointed. Linens were clean but sparse. Glad we brought our own bath towels. We had to use the extra blankets that we found in the chest of drawers. It would have been nice if there was a summary or info sheet in the room of where to find things like the blankets, extra linens, sauna and how to park the carts and plug in. No info. Had to figure it out. My dad needed a low floor and this was perfect. Just three steps from either door. The A side had a walk in shower stall while B had a huge jetted tub. We did not use the tube but were stupefied that they didn't provide a bath mat for getting in and out. That tub is dangerous to step out of when wet. We'd stay here again but will look for somewhere with a view next time. This is more of a hideaway than a hangout spot

The room that we were given smelled of ammonia and was in terrible condition. There were plenty of spiders and bugs scurrying around the beds which is not surprising given how dirty the room was. The shower had no pressure whatsoever and the water intensely smelled like iron. I understand wanting to stay away from soulless chains but in this case a little bit more corporate style management and cleanliness would go a long way.

The beds are less than a year old, firm mattresses, with Serta pillows. The furniture is solid and attractive. It does not have all the amenities, but it does have all the basics and at a good price. They strive to meet any request you have. Their restaurant, Sharky's is very good and reasonably priced. This is my second visit and I strongly recommend them.

I called the day before July 4th weekend and was able to snag a last minute room due to a cancellation and even though they were booked up for the day after, I left a note at the front desk that I wanted any cancellations and was able to snag a room for the next day too. If you're looking for a tasty lunch, walk over to the food truck up the road for a burrito. Great little place for a great nights rest!

We parked in front of the motel and didn't touch the car again the whole time we were there. The highlight was the service - the motel staff were so welcoming and truly exemplify the southern hospitality that North Carolina is known for. All in all, we loved Ocracoke Island and Bluff Shoal was the perfect HQ for our vacation. Hope to come back again!

Coming from the golf course in Minnesott, the ferry terminal could not be any easier. It's literally three turns from parking lot to loading area. Overall what is there to say? Unlike on the Cherry Branch side, the small shack/hut was unattended both times. Granted I would assume the light Wednesday and Friday loads had something to do with it. I think it was six cars on Wednesday and ten on Friday each time around 5:30. The schedule is below and honestly, there is a lot of frequency and I like that it doesn't change seasonally so you always know what to expect. www.ncdot.gov/travel-maps/ferry-tickets-services/routes/Pages/default.aspx I did get out and stretch my legs for a few minutes on this side. They have an inside with restrooms, vending machines (all out of order) and a place for garbage and recycling. As Michael M. said in his review for the Cherry Branch side, it really is worth a drive around the area on either side. Very unique and bucolic. It's part of why I kept heading north to ride the Aurora-Bayview line after getting off here. Loading and unloading was beyond efficient and fast on both sides. One of these times I will do the NC ferry lariat of stupidity. What is that you say? Going Hatteras-Ocracoke-SwanQuarter-Bayview-Aurora-Minnesott Beach-Cherry Branch-Cedar Island-Ocracoke-Hatteras in the same day. When? Who knows? But it means I'll be back to try.
