I've been coming here for years but this is my first time reviewing. Not sure how that happened. Remember back in the day in Philly when there was a diner on most corners in the city? I miss those days, and even though this is a breakfast-midday-spot, it makes me feel nostalgic when I am served the food that used to fuel me from those all-night-late-night Philly diners. Eggs, perfect hash browns, sausage patties (not links) hot sauce and ketchup on the table. Lots of breakfast items on the menu and I had never considered it before but I saw a couple order orange juice to blend with their byo champagne... so if you are inclined. Anyway, I raised my kids in this neighborhood and many weekend morning was spent at Cedar Park Cafe. It serves the kind of diner food that I remember. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, but the way I was treated by the owner today was completely unacceptable. I've been a regular customer here and simply asked a basic question about my bill. My fish and grits are listed at $12.50, yet I was charged $15.25. The only addition to my order was cheese on the eggs and grits, which is listed as a $0.50 add-on. On top of that, my breakfast sandwich was missing the bacon that was supposed to come with it. So not only was I trying to understand the price difference, but my order wasn't even correct. Instead of calmly explaining the charge or fixing the mistake, the owner immediately became defensive and actually called me a liar for asking about the price. She also tried to say I'm "not a regular" because I didn't know her name -- which makes no sense. Being a regular customer means you come in often and support the business, not that you personally know the owner. I come in, order my food, pay, and leave like most customers do. Mistakes with orders and pricing happen everywhere. What matters is how a business handles it. Calling a customer a liar and being dismissive when they ask about their bill is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I supported this place, but after being treated like that over a simple question and an incorrect order, I will not be returning. read more

Will not be back. Yesterday I ordered a BLT sandwich with pork bacon, extra bacon and they gave me an FN beef jerky sandwich full of beef bacon! The beef bacon texture was so rough that it beat up the roof of my mouth and was not good at all. To add to the waste of my money I immediately got diarrhea after digesting half of the sandwich. I always love going here for breakfast when we are in Philly. Staff is always friendly. I love how they make grits reminds me of my mom and grandma's recipe. I believe they add something to the home fries but didn't confirm and the potatoes are also delicious. Its always a clean and welcoming environment. I meant to update this review before the pandemic. My last visit (pre-pandemic) was not as good as some of my earlier experiences. One thing I didn't like is that it seemed like the staff was upselling and upcharging without making clear that certain items cost more. For example, I ordered home fries & they asked "onions and peppers?" like they're a regular part of the dish. However, there's an extra charge for at least one of those (peppers I think?). It's not a ton of $$, but I'd like it if it were more clearly communicated what was included and what was not. Same thing happened with a particular cheese that was offered and chosen for a sandwich; apparently it cost extra but I didn't know that until I saw it on the bill. I used to live in the area and went to sit-in and eat many times! They actually know my name and order at this point! Usually people go for chicken and waffles but this place serves chicken and French toast! I've haven't tasted anything like it! Simple is sometimes better. Looking for a quick bite before a planned activity, my boyfriend and I agreed on this spot. The location was not far from our Airbnb and close to our 11 AM engagement. Fortunately for us, we were able to find parking across the street and were seated upon arrival. The service was okay and a little on the slow side, but to be honest, I was not expecting much. The menu offered a good variety of choices. I love a good breakfast platter and decided on the two eggs, bacon, and grits (with cheese of course) platter. I've heard good things about this place for years and was in the neighborhood so I decided to try them out. My little and I ordered waffles and bacon and fried whiting with cheese grits and eggs. The waffles and bacon were pretty good. The fish was fried too hard for my liking but it was tasty. The grits are those good grits that has texture but they lacked taste. The eggs were nasty. Very rarely do I get something that's nasty but they were. Although I wasn't that wowed by my experience I would definitely try them again. read more

A breakfast cheesesteak with eggs and hash browns. Everybody's on the good traditional roll together. Each time, everyone left stuffed, satisfied, and happy. The menu runs a good gamut from basic eggs, hot cakes, and bacon to creamed chipped beef on toast points (a personal favorite). There are even pork, beef, OR turkey scrapple offerings. For a tidy little breakfast, expect to pay ~$7, and maybe $12 per person for more sides and fixin's. (Note that credit/debit cards can only be used on checks of $10+.) Juices are the bottled kind, and the coffee's fine. Service has been friendly and courteous, timely and arm's length. Cedar Park Cafe is the epitome of West Philly - comfortable, friendly, and chill. This diner feels homey and welcoming, especially with its friendly staff. The service here is amazing - I'm not sure what her name is but one of the waitresses has amazing memory and can remember your order to the dot without jotting a thing. I got the chicken and waffles and it was so good! The portions are quite big and great for its price. As for the flavor, the chicken is nice and crisp and tastes even better with the complementary sweet chili sauce that is on the side. I also always enjoy the bottomless coffee here. I'll just get this out of the way that I am a huuuuuuge fan of Cedar Park cafe. Located on 49 and Baltimore, this little diner is a gem. My friends and I came on a Saturday for brunch and there was a ~15 min wait to have the three of us seated. I ordered the #10 which came with 2 eggs, my choice of a sausage, and pancakes. While there is nothing special about the food here, I will say that it is the most reasonable brunch spot. I love being able to come out to ture West Philadelphia and be surrounded by the residents of the neighborhood compared to the university setting. There is a vibe at Cedar Park cafe that is unrivaled and oozes with a sense of community. While there are better quality brunch places in U-City, Cedar Park cafe has my heart as well as my stomach. 10/10 nothin else. read more

I've been to this cafe a couple of times. It's definitely your typical neighborhood diner with all the standard breakfast dishes. The food is homey, good, and affordable. Also, the service is what I would consider decent. So on that note, if you live in or are visiting Cedar Park this place will and should be a place you frequent, regardless of what I I'm going to say next lol. The wait is soooooooooo long on the weekends, but it's for those points I made above. Again, this is clearly the neighborhood spot so on the weekends everyone and their auntie, cousin, daddy, and nephew are here. My suggestion to you is to get up early on the weekend or just be prepared for a wait. Overall, this is a good diner type cafe. We always enjoy our breakfast here! The docked star is for the wait and because it's not the most delicious breakfast I've ever had, but definitely good and very filling. Oh they also are cash only. Mrs Hillary Clinton literally came to Cedar Park Cafe and took a picture with me and my dining friends!!! What an amazing experience!! When my friends and I arrived, there was a little bit of a wait to be seated but it was good we got there when we did because after being seated, the line was longer. The meal came with 2 thickly crusted fried chicken tenders which I loved and was happy I didn't have to deal with bones. The chicken was incredibly well seasoned, tender, crispy and yummy! The waffle was covered in butter and powdered sugar. I wasn't a huge fan of the waffle- It was kind of bland. I ate the waffle with the chicken but couldn't really discern the waffle taste. It was also not as crispy as I would have liked. Also on the plate, there was sweet chili sauce on the side which actually went really well with the chicken. My friend ordered some chocolate chip hotcakes (pancakes), which I got to try and MAN, they were delicious! There were tons of chocolate chips and powdered sugar sprinkled on top of the pancakes as well as a dab of butter. It was very chocolate-y, the way I like my chocolate chip pancakes to be and the chocolate just melted in my mouth. The hotcakes themselves were also great- Fluffy, warm and full of buttery goodness. I also got to try some of my friend's hashbrowns which were so good! They were perfectly crunchy and the potatoes were flavorful. Service was decent and the pricing was very reasonable. I came here on an average paced Saturday morning for brunch and I was pleasantly surprised by this local cafe! I got their grilled tilapia breakfast platter and boy was I stuffed afterwards! The fish was soft, tender and nicely seasoned. The potatoes were definitely plentiful but I would've appreciated a bit more sear on them. My friends had gotten their chicken and waffles and that was also a wonderful choice! Cedar Park Cafe is one of those spots you stumble upon while casually walking back to your apartment in West Philly. Along with the very homey vibes it gives off, the smell of freshly baked hot cakes is what got us to pay a visit. The menu had many options for different brunch items, but what caught our eye was the super affordable prices! A lot of cafes seem super overpriced for their pancakes and egg benedict, but this spot had some really good deals. The reason I gave 3 stars was because of how unsatisfied I was about the egg benedict. As much as I love my eggs, this one was just not cutting it. It was way too watery and also felt a little cold. Aside from my displeasure, I really enjoyed the hot cakes and waffles! We got chocolate chip with fruit and whip cream on the side. They actually gave us the whip cream bottle which was both unique but also a little worrisome. We stayed just until it was closing time. Best place in West Philly, hands down. It's got everything you want a diner type place to have. Never had a bad meal here. They really care. Only place I regularly tip when I'm just getting takeout. And not for nothing but it's one of the only places I've ever seen in the city that has a truly diverse staff. Everybody kind of gets along. It's reflected in the food. Their chicken and waffle dish is a straight up Black and Asian fusion. Obviously 'Chicken & Waffles' is a southern Black thing but the chicken they serve here with the waffles is a spicy, crispy Chinese chicken. Just visited because I was in the area and Yelp had it ranked. I was not disappointed. The young lady who waited on us was very polite and attentive (although extremely busy).... I ordered the California Omelette and my lady had the fried whiting and grits.... We were both very pleased and will now go out of our way to return. One caveat....
