Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: maybe Midlights: - Pretty small round table for 5 of us--we ran out of real estate for our dishes - Had to wait a bit after our reservation but only 19 minutes and they were really nice about it and gave us some skillet rolls to start - Fried chicken: one of the best I've had though my southern hub has different standards. Thomas Keller Napa Addendum style with a light crispy breading and rosemary. 4.75 stars - Cornbread: super soft and buttery big round flat version looked like popped out of a skillet. 4.75 stars - Strawberry burrata toast: nice combo with pistachios scattered by and arugula salad on the side. 4.5 stars - Short rib rigatoni: al dente noodles with tender short rib pieces, but my hub loved the crispy onion strings on top. 4.25 stars - Pork chop: my teen gobbled it down. 4.5 stars - Carrot risotto: good flavor with outstanding fresh peas (pods and stems) though risotto on the runnier side. 4 stars - Layered banana dessert my hub enjoyed. 4 stars - Atmosphere: lovely with colorful art on the wall. Midlights: - Potatoes: expected fries but were wedges. Pure though couidve been crispier on the edges. 3.75 stars - Key lime soufflé cake with marshmallow ice cream. Interesting. 3.5 stars - Hush puppies: decent version with a sliced exterior. 3.5 stars - Shrimp and scallop pasta: seafood was cooked fine but spaghetti with artichokes on the side was bit plain. 3.5 stars Lowlights: - Everything was fine but not many stand out memorable dishes

I got the You're My Boy Blue and my friend got the Fiddle Head from the tap. We were away from the TV that was playing the game we wanted to watch- the Owner (I think was the owner) was very nice and switched the game on the TV close to us. Very thoughtful and accommodating staff! I didn't grab any food since I had another reservation after but whatever they were cooking in the kitchen smelled so good that I was tempted to order something.

On a whim, I called Butcher Bar and told them I know it's last minute on a Saturday night, but could they accommodate 9 people. They told me if we were there in 30 minutes they could make it work, so we rushed over. We sat at the bar for drinks as they cleaned up a table. They overheard us talking about how The Trough would be nice (feeds 8 for $300, but was more than enough for us 9), and said if we wanted that they could get it started as the table was prepared. We said yes, and were sat a few minutes later with drinks in hand. Jenna (Gema? She had grape earrings) was a fantastic server and just so kind and attentive. She kept the drinks flowing and The Trough arrived sooner than I expected and was everything I wanted for dinner and more. I can't thank Butcher Bar enough for saving the night for my 40th and just providing a fantastic experience. We'll be back, and we promise to give more notice next time! :)

5 stars for Bud and Marilyn's? I recently gave The Love 5 stars for its fried chicken!…read more The Marilyn's Fried Chicken I had this evening was every bit as good! I'm not sure why I waited so long to try the chicken at Bud and Marilyn's, but better late than never! They serve a LARGE 1/2 chicken. I started with the thigh. I was smitten by the first bite. I was told the chicken is soaked in a buttermilk brine for 24-48 hours - dipped in a buttermilk dredge - covered with their 'secret recipe' seasoned flour - and fried in a 'pressure fryer' that cooks the chicken in 12 minutes. It was perfectly fried - so crispy - the texture and seasoning of the exterior coating was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy - the thigh was the juiciest - I didn't get to try the drumstick as I was too full! I had the thigh and 1/2 the breast. The breast is my favorite and I savored each large delicious piece I broke apart. It's important to pick up the chicken and eat it by hand - I did cut mine in half for a picture - but didn't use a fork to eat it - you lose the 'panache'of the meal. I didn't use the hot sauce served with the chicken - I brought my own bottle of honey and poured it over the chicken and biscuits. It was heavenly! Which brings me to the Biscuits! The dish comes with 2 large fluffy buttermilk biscuits - they were golden brown on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside! They had such a rich, buttery flavor. I took several pieces of chicken and layered them on pieces of biscuit, drizzled with honey! It was truly a 5 star fried chicken and biscuit dinner!

The island punch was my favorite item. It was so smooth. I wish it was a bigger serving. The honest mustard sauce was delicious and taste very much homemade. The sinful salmon grilled cheese sandwich with the sweet potato fries were okay, not bad at all just didn't wow me. The portion size was large. I wanted to try the sandwich because it was different. I would like to visit again to try the alfredo pasta. It looks so delicious. I loved seeing the young sisters running the place though. Waiter was nice. I will return to support this black owned business. Parking is very tight street parking. Small indoor eating area with high and low top tables. Looks clean

Full of flavor and they held well together Everything came out well Charbroiled oysters - very tiny though and for $18 I was a little disappointed Broccolini and Brussels sprouts Literally wow Everything turned out perfect until o got the bill First they took too long to bring me the bill then when my bill was returned, I see that they signed for me and even included a gratuity (I was a solo diner...they didn't think I would tip?) Yikes, that turned me off ...even the server said she was confused. The system was down is what she said but then it started working again. Weird. She called a lady with a religious cover over to help her do it
