Cedar Rapids vs Clinton 6/15/19 rescheduled due to weather after the first inning.

The Kernels hadn't really been on our radar as something to do until recently and ever since Matt had been nagging me to go to a game. On our first attempt, we attended a work outing in the mezzanine area that got rained out after the 1st inning. Super disappointing. (Normally if the game is rained out, ticket holders are able to return for the rescheduled game. But they took our tickets when we entered the mezzanine.) This area has a great view from right field and groups can enjoy complimentary food and beverage throughout the game. Luckily, the other day I won a set of tickets from work and it turned out to be a beautiful evening so we were able to enjoy the entire game. The stadium is super clean and comfortable. Walking around the concessions area seems a little crowded but sitting never seems as full. (Typical minor leagues game.) There's plenty of free parking around the stadium, even after the game has started, and getting out isn't an absolute nightmare especially because the crowds clear out as the game goes on. Concession stand pricing is inflated as usual, but they seem to offer specials on a regular basis. Tickets are super affordable. All around it's a great option for cheap, wholesome fun!

Going to Modern Woodmen Park is a must for any baseball fan. It is one of the oldest parks in the nation. Many MLB stars got their careers started here in Davenport, Iowa. This family friendly stadium offers a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family. If the great game of baseball isn't for you, check out the different amusement rides. The Ferris wheel is huge and gives spectators a glimpse of the field and mighty Mississippi River. The concessions have many great foods and drinks to purchase at reasonable prices. You won't go broke here like at a MLB stadium. Where else can you watch a baseball game, see river boats cruise the river, and hear trains fly down the tracks? Modern Woodmen Stadium is the answer.

On one side is a bridge and another side, an amusement park with Ferris wheel and merry go round. I walked around a lot. The layout is graded up high, as you had to walk 20 steps up to it. The reason 4/5 stars is lack of good concessions. A couple of places such as a Mexican grill weren't open. The line for this one grill was insanely long the whole night. The Whiteys ice-cream did not have malt cups, supposedly sold out the night before. Piss poor planning for a crowd. I settled for Cheesesteak nachos without onions and peppers in a helmet. Also shared a chip witch or chocolate chip cookie with ice-cream between it. The stadium was really iconic and cool. The Ferris wheel lit up at night. Just work on better concessions with product and have more open. Review 94 in 2023.

We arrived around 11 AM on a Saturday. I had already made my reservations for noon to tour the farmhouse. Upon arrival, we made the $20.00 donation. I'm not sure it's required but it was a worthwhile donation. We immediately went to the gift shop (very expensive) and got my MLB passport stamped. From there we proceeded to the field and walked around. After we walked around (corn is only a few inches off the ground), I grabbed two gloves and a ball. My wife and I played catch in the outfield then I went to first base. Playing catch on the field is magical. It was memorable playing out there with the kids and everyone just soaking in the experience. The farmhouse is worth seeing. It's 20.00 per person and about a 30 minute tour. You don't go upstairs (it is available for rent) but the guide shared a lot of stories from the movie and MLB expanding the games here. Overall if you're a baseball fan you need this experience. It is truly magical and surreal. It's as close to heaven as you will experience in Iowa.

The property is very well maintained and exactly from the movie. They have a couple food spots on location and I was sure to have a hot dog and beer at the picnic tables beside the field. I felt the prices in the gift shop were super high and would have considered a souvenir had they been reasonable.
