Some mom friends recommended Cedar Valley Dental for a holistic dentist option. Our two year old was due for her first appointment and we were so pleased! Luci, the RDH, was patient, interactive, communicated everything she was doing and showed our daughter all the tools before using them, and really helped her feel at ease. They have a ton of amenities for littles (cute sunglasses for the bright light, fun toothbrushes, a prize box, etc.). Let's face it, no one likes going to the dentist, it's about as fun as taking a test. Unless you go to Dr. Cami. Not only is she extremely patient and kind she provides an extensive and detailed amount of education about dental hygiene. I've never had an initial dental visit where they review all the basics with examples and pictures. After explaining each concept she asks if it makes sense and if you have any questions before moving on. She doesn't just tell you how to take care of your teeth but WHY. Her holistic approach of explaining how your dental hygiene is related to your overall heart health, sleep, etc. is beyond anything I've ever experienced. She also didn't just tell me what needed work, she took the time to go through EACH x-ray and picture (and there were A LOT) and explained the basics of how I can read the x-ray ie decay, cavity, etc. No dentist has ever taken the time to teach me, which in turn empowers you to take charge of your own health and she promises she will do everything she can to help you. My initial appointment was slotted for 2 hours. Due to my complicated case it took 2.5 hours and I never once felt rushed. I felt bad I may be taking time away from other patients. Her staff is amazing and SO patient with my several questions. Their communication is amazing. I called I believe during their lunch hour when they were closed and immediately received a text message from the staff say they're sorry they missed my call and what they can help me with. I apologized profusely and said traffic was really bad and I may be a few late and they replied no problem please drive safely. With traffic it sometimes takes me an hour one way to get there and I'm more than thrilled to make it because I know I'm truly cared for. Her entire staff including Luci whom worked on my teeth today, embraces a detailed education and holistic approach to dentistry as well. She showed me on a model how to properly brush your teeth and then asked me to bring in my toothbrush next time so she can watch me to make sure I'm doing it properly. Of the many dentists I've been to this was the best explanation of my needs that I've had. It takes a bit more time at first, but I left with confidence in our agreed plan. I called during business hours to set up an appointment; there was no answer so I left a message. Repeat this scenario three days later. Two weeks passed when I realized I still hadn't gotten an appointment set up so I called again &, this time, was fortunate enough to speak with someone & set up appointments for both myself and my husband. We were new, first time patients to this clinic. Upon my asking, they said to plan on each turn taking an hour. We made back-to-back consecutive appointments, so we would be able to tag-team caring for our baby while the other person was being seen by the dentist. We explained this to the staff, who thought it was adorable and said they were happy to accommodate us. When headed to our appointments, we were unable to find their location. There were no directions listed on their website and Google Maps had them pegged incorrectly. I called SIX times, meanwhile my husband simultaneously called three times. Each time, it went to voicemail after five rings. On my husband's fourth try, he was finally able to speak with someone. When we arrived, we made it through just the beginning of the virtual paperwork on the iPad (that the receptionist admitted to not knowing how to fully use) before it died. They told us we could just finish after they charged it. Our appointment was at 11am, so I'm not sure why (1) they only had one iPad for check-ins and no backup hard paperwork or anything in case it malfunctioned or (2) why the iPad wasn't charged & ready to go for the day. I was called back first & spent the next HOUR having giant pieces of plastic shoved in my mouth for their 'new, digital X-rays' that the hygienist admitted to not being very good at doing. Each picture took a minimum of two tries, as she kept angling it wrong/not putting it far enough back/etc. When I told her the plastic piece she kept shoving farther back in my mouth was greatly hurting my gums, she replied, "Well, you can just gargle with salt water when you get home." When the dentist finally saw me, she was very pleasant and professional. I was surprised she wasn't the, "Dr. Miller," that I'd made my appointment with and who was listed on their webpage (I later found out that Dr. Cami had just taken over the practice this month. No mention was made as to what happened to Dr. Miller or why his abrupt exit without notifying his patients). When my husband had his turn, he also had a horribly inept dental hygienist who was clueless how to manage their X-ray machine. After his X-rays also taking an hour, Dr. Cami stepped in to start his exam. After a few moments she said she had to step out to tend to another patient. I was waiting in the waiting room with our infant & beginning to become concerned about the time, as we had already been there over three hours. I was not alone, as the other woman who was also out waiting notified the receptionist that she would need to get her kids from school soon and was hoping they could hurry up. I asked how much longer it would be for my husband, and the receptionist said, "Just a few more minutes." After fifteen minutes more of waiting, I realized we were about to miss another commitment we'd set up for later that afternoon & we had to leave. When my husband let them know that we needed to get going to our upcoming commitment for that day, instead of bringing Dr. Cami back to his room to finish his exam, they sent him out & told him he could come back "later" to finish. After going through the hassle to take off a day of work & sit at the dentist for four hours, we asked if he could return in an hour to finish the exam. They said he would need to schedule an appointment for a different day to finish his exam. We ended up canceling our later commitment so he could have his exam finished right then. We spent over FOUR HOURS at this office for two exams! Not even a cleaning! There was nothing done to our mouths other than them glancing and poking around. I cannot imagine the amount of time I would have needed to schedule if we'd actually wanted a cleaning done! We only chose this dentist as they are preferred providers for our insurance. We are strongly considering moving forward with our old dentist, though they are not covered via insurance, as we cannot imagine going back to Cedar Valley Dental regardless of being "in network." Dr. Cami was very nice, but her staff needs extensive training in not only customer service (like how to answer a phone! Or call someone back! Or have intake paperwork prepared so customers don't have to stay after their appointment to finish because an employee didn't charge the iPad!) but also in how to use their not-even-that-advanced technology. Their hours are terrible (closes at 3pm on weekdays) & I regret taking the time off of work to spend all day with an infant at such an incompetent dentist's office. Look somewhere else if you are hoping to find prompt, patient-centered care. read more

I have been a patient with this office for over 10 years. During my last visit, I was pulled from the dentist chair in the middle of the service because they were not able to verify my insurance. Not exactly sure why didn't check before they started but ...I explained to them that I had been paying for my dentist insurance so they may have switched companies. Given my tenure at their office, I would have thought that they would at least given me a chance to get the paperwork straightened out. But no... no insurance no service. Needless to say, I found the insurance card and presented it to them. I will never use this dentist again and recommend you do that same. read more

I have been here twice now and they have been, by far, the best dentist I have ever been to. My husband went here this past spring 2013, and he really like the dentist and the staff as well. My coworker suggested this place to me. Her husband and whole family go here. I mentioned that to them when I went, and they remembered her and her family. After coming here just once, when I went back for my 6 month check up (ended being 8 months, oops;-) ) the staff remembered me and even things I told them. I don't think I ever remembered anybody I meet just once 8 months ago. My hygienist was Danielle and she is very nice and personable. She tells you what she is doing each time and try's to not make you suffer. The Dr. Miller is also very nice and listens to your question and comments. I am trying to get my parents to go here as well since they just moved to austin. I highly recommend this place for anyone who lives in the area. ;) read more

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with any dental/medical office. From start to finish it was a nightmare, and I somehow managed to leave after my second visit without having my teeth cleaned yet...but not without being charged. Although no aspect of my experience there was pleasant, dealing with the office manager (Lisa) was by far the worst part of it. She was rude, unproffesional, and vindictive. I really cannot imagine what would make a human being act like this to other people, especially customers. The cleaning that was scheduled for (twice) was to be entirely covered by insurance. But instead of doing a standard cleaning on my first visit, the hygienist performed some other procedure without my knowledge, and then as I left they informed me that I owed them money. The second appointment was set for a month later. After driving across town for my second visit for the cleaning which they were supposed to have done on my first visit but "didn't have time", I was informed upon entry that my appointment had been cancelled. No phone call, letter in the mail, not even a hint of an apology. Simply "Oh, I cancelled that appointment yesterday." When I asked for an explanation, I was essentially berated by Lisa. When I asked to speak to someone else Lisa responded: "there's no one else to talk to, I'm the office manager." I thought for a minute maybe I was being Punked...real businesses don't do this kind of thing to their customers right? I left confused and angry. In the end they somehow managed to take my time, money, and patience in return for pretty much nothing. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere as they've made it abundantly clear that they don't want it. But the complete lack of professionalism and common courtesy are really unacceptable in any business. I would not recommend this place for any service under any circumstances. read more

Have been using this office for over 8 years and was a previous patient of Miller's. I was about to change dentist when he sold the business almost over night with no notice. Since I was in the middle of getting a crown I decided to stick around. Dr Cami was a pleasant change! She is very thorough, gentle, knowledgeable and truly cares for her patients. The office staff have always been great. In reading some of the other reviews I can only say the office staff has changed and Dr Cami brought in all new equipment and ideas when she took over the office. Things may have been a little confusing at first but Dr Cami seems to have a handle on things now. The front desk administrator was kind, knowledgeable and friendly. We were seen on time. Doris, Dr. Cami's, assistant is amazing. She has the best personality and is very engaging. By far the worst treatment by the receptionist at this place. For starters I rescheduled my daughters appointment and secondly I called back twice the same day to confirm and left 2 voicemails during business hours. I never received a call back!! Monday I waited a few hours after they opened and ended up calling her back to finally get the appointment confirmed. She states oh I was just about to call you back. Not once did she warn me about the $72 fee. My mother takes my daughter to the dentist gets a tooth pulled and brings me the bill. That woman charged me $72 for a missed appointment! I called them as soon as I got off work because I was blindsided. We did not miss an appointment I rescheduled it! She states that if you reschedule in less than 48 hours you get charged the missed appointment fee. She claims I signed paperwork that states that. Ok, if that's true then she should have reminded me if that's the case when I confirmed the appointment. Not only was she condescending, she was very rude and unprofessional. That place should reconsider who they hire to run that place. I got so frustrated and didn't want to lose my cool with her so I hung up, we did not reach a resolution and the conversation was going nowhere. I will no longer be using their services because of that woman. read more

We moved here three years ago. Since then I've struggled with a crown I previously had which kept falling off. I went to a different and well known dentist along 290 and was disgusted with what I was charged to just glue it back in. Especially when it fell off again within a couple months. Since then, I have gone to Cedar Valley and love them. Why? 1) Cost. They are very reasonable. 2) Treatment. I just left their chair an hour ago. My mouth is still numb as a matter of fact. This was the first time I have EVER had a blanket provided while being treated, Pillows for my neck and knees, They were worried I might get chapped lips so they kept putting salve on my lips, and 3) (MOST IMPORTANTLY) The dentist is an absolute PRO putting in the Novocain (or whatever they use). Hardly felt the prick. In the end, I was completely relaxed, NEVER flinched by anything painful, and was charged a reasonable amount. I highly recommend everyone at Cedar Valley Dental. read more

I recently broke a tooth on a Saturday, Dr. Miller and his staff made arrangements to see me early on Monday afternoon when I called that morning. I'm a tough patient that requires a lot of deadening, and this was THE most pain free trip to the dentist I've ever had. After seeing my tooth, he made sure that I didn't leave until this was taken care of. I have a temporary crown now, and will be returning in 2 week for my permanent.
