A friend heard a cardiovascular surgeon and a nurse having a racist conversation in a patient's…read moreroom. They made derogatory comments about the Black Lives Matter movement. For non-white patients, regardless of political party, this is scary thing to hear from your doctor and nurse. Cheyenne Regional Center needs to set basic standards for their staff. Their website promises "compassionate care." But if the doctor cutting into you and the nurse giving you meds can't have a respectful attitude at work towards minorities and the pain they experience- even if they can't relate to it-that's not compassion. Even if they've never experienced heart disease, they should have compassion for the daily pain of having heart disease. It's no different for the pain experienced by people of color. Do better, please.

After checking in they took me back to a small room where they checked my basic vitals and I explained about my stroke symptoms. They told me that their rooms were full and to go wait in the lobby until one opens up. Three hours later I again complained about half of my face not having any control and the headache I had. They told me that they did have any rooms available so my wife and I left. We drove down into Colorado to UC Health. They got me right in without hesitation and took excellent care of me.

Woodstock Visits the Gorilla Exhibit…read more https://youtu.be/ddAQIP5N7qs My first and last experience at the Cheyenne VA, one of a dozen VAs I have been to: Lab tech dude interjects to scare the redhead lab tech with a warning about getting in trouble if she processes my lab work order. Awesome buddy, so helpful! Then he stands up and moves his body between she and me and repeats telling me what I've already addressed with her. He asks me a question and continues to nod his head in acknowledgment as I answer but then he doesn't answer my question in return because he didn't actually hear a word I said. And when I point that out, he makes an excuse instead of apologizing or being accountable and proceeds to repeat the same useless thing for a third time. Civilian much? They continue to ignore everything I've said and say I need to invoke a lady in another office but they won't contact her or tell me how to do so. I sit and wait while the four lab techs try to figure out how to do their job. Ten minutes into looking at my medical record I hear my husband's name and they ask out loud whether or not I'm the veteran. Apparently, women aren't veterans in Wyoming. Who knew?! Not sure how that is relevant at this point or how I would have medical records at the VA if I wasn't a veteran but hey! I can see how that might be confusing to primates governed by fear and misogyny. So I go tell the Patient Advocate what's happening. He says "huh, I wonder why they said that?" completely uninterested in the answer to his own question. We sit in silence and I ask if it's ok that they did that? "Well I don't know what happened." Yeah you do buddy, I just told you. It seems you missed our conversation. Later I go back to tell him that dismissing and invalidating my concern is disgusting. That's literally HIS JOB. He says he doesn't know what I'm talking about. Again! I just told him the problem and he responds that he doesn't know what the problem is. Exactly buddy. Exactly. Dude is a big bruiser twice my size and is so afraid of a tiny woman that he literally can't hear or process the words that come out of her mouth. After getting angry at first, I've actually been laughing myself silly about this the rest of the day. Is the VA staffed with gorillas?! I go to the Administrator's office and his secretary spends the time it would've taken me to voice my concern getting directed to send me to his underling. So doubling the time and effort of everyone involved to send me on a goose chase is the best use of resources?! I guess that's why he makes the big bucks eh? She's knowledgeable and tries to give me the information I need to get the lab work done. I start asking her a clarifying question and she cuts me off halfway through my sentence. She at least acknowledged what she did when I pointed it out and apologized like a respectable person. Takes a woman to be man enough to show the respect I'm due apparently. My doctor, a guy who spent his entire adulthood career in Antarctica presumably in the company of only men, chose to wholly discount common scientific fact to warn me with anecdotes about my fertility. Besides the fact I can read research literature and understand statistics, not to mention believe my own reality that I have lived all these years, I spent $120,000 on my education to study that Sir, so sorry I can't afford to pay attention to your invalidation and nonsense. But I promise to name my baby after you! Cheyenne VA: unless you're wearing a penis, you're an apparition that they can't and won't see or hear. Funny, I wasn't issued a penis at boot camp. So am I really a Veteran after all? According to them, am I even a person? Chattel it seems. The best part is...Americans think they are better than Muslim nations who dress their women in abayas out of respect and honor. Here, women are just simply invisible non-entities! If I wear an abaya, will you run my blood test? Do you want me to repeat this in Arabic? You know, that the military spent years teaching me for the WAR that my husband didn't serve in.

The staff go above and beyond to care for their patients, and make a veteran feel welcome. The only negatives that I can think of is that there isn't any free WiFi anywhere in the building and the Radiology Department doesn't seem to be on the same record system as the rest of the hospital (so no using the Kiosks to self-check in for appointments).

First of all, they still except walkins, we went to one of the other places in town first, and I, being in technology, cannot figure out how to make an appointment with them online as required so no one was there. I called Xpress, urgent care, and a human answered the phone, she was wonderful by the way. We walked right in, but the person behind his head made an appointment online so you can do that as well. I had my 99 1/2-year-old grandmother with me, and she needed to be seen. Everyone was so kind and patient with her. I would return, without hesitation.!

They said if I wanted to do a Covid test or strep throat or any other additional testing it's à la cart- i would have to pay additional. So I didn't opt for any of those. I left with no diagnosis and they sent me on my way. The very next day, a different clinic diagnosed him with a double ear infection gave him an anabiotic and within days my kid was fine. So I basically paid two bills, but only one Clinic was able to do the job and diagnose my son correctly. Then I got a bill from express urgent care for $157. I tried to go in and pay it in person and plea my case that I didn't think it was fair because there was no diagnosis, but I was still willing to make it right. The gal said she would try and visit with the owners and she didn't accept my check and I didn't pay anything that day. Six weeks later I get a nasty gram in the mail saying if I don't pay now further financial action will be taken. It felt like a threat. When I walked into try and pay it with that exact same check from six weeks ago, They accepted my money and that was the end of that. Period .I will never go back. I asked to destroy my records, and I fair warn anyone that walks into that place be weary. Also be aware that the same owners also own a Medi spa called Melt so you might want to proceed with caution, before going to either spot. I wish I would've known what I know now.
