Angels in Scrubs My…read morewife and I found an animal who was severely injured. Desperate and heart-broken, we called dozens of places asking for help. Most said they couldn't help, or recommended that we get animal control to come destroy the animal. We finally found VCA Ocean County Animal Hospital. They were ready and willing to help. When we arrived with the injured animal, I could tell he would be in the hands of caring and compassionate people. The injured animal to whom no one gave a chance, now had the very best medical professionals trying to save his life. Not only did VCA Ocean County Animal Hospital save his life, but one of the vet-techs even adopted the animal!!! Good people truly exist in this world. And MANY work at this vet office.

Revisited the practice in Lakewood yesterday, Minnie was seen Dr. Weinberger. Rectal exam performed per my request due to my belief Dr. Dejohn may have been too aggressive on 6/29 with Minnie's anal glands. Dr. Weinberger clinical diagnosis was a UTI. Immediately upon arriving home yesterday after the appointment Minnie began having diarrhea, vomiting, and appeared to have blood in her urine. An antibiotic was offered at the appointment but at second thought I declined the antibiotic since no evaluation of her urine to support this diagnosis. My home is inundated with diarrhea, urine and couple of areas with weird looking vomit. I was told during the visit that Dr. Dejohn said Minnie had an abscess however this is untrue as no communication, verbal or in writing, exists discussing an anal gland abscess on 6/29/26. I just called Fischer Blvd location and was told to go to an emergency veterinarian. In all honesty, I believe the right thing to do would be for me to bring Minnie in this morning to Fischer Blvd. Yes- I was upset yesterday, but not to the point that would justify Dr. Weinberger refusing to further examine Minnie, harshly exiting the exam, threatening the police on us, and being thrown out of the office. I now have to figure out how to make this right for the sake of Minnie's health. I fear Minnie's short lived life of only six is upon us. Minnie is a rescue, unfortunately I cannot attest to her exact age.

They are just incredible people. Talented, caring, know how to run a business efficiently without it ever feeling like a business. They genuinely love every pet and, just having to had put our dog to sleep, they could not have been better on the care over the past few years and especially the past year with our dog. Tender with her and gave us all the options to help her have the best life and the most gentle passing. We were lucky enough to always have Jenna Koenigstein, DVM - can't say enough about her as a Vet and as a person. Thank you BVHVET

He is also 90 lbs and his size can create a unique challenge. We've struggle in the past to find a vet who would build trust and work with him vs. rushing to full sedation. I was blown away by the care we received from Dr. Koenigstein. She prescribed a comfort pack for him to take in advance of his appointment, and was very gracious when he was too stubborn to enter the exam room. She spent a great deal of time with him to make him comfortable with her. She also let me stay with my dog during the entire visit, which I think went a long way in keeping him relaxed. As a team of three (the vet tech, Ashley, was amazing too!), we soothed my dog and kept him comfortable through the exam, vaccinations, and even a nail trim. I feel so fortunate to have found this place and would absolutely recommend it to all pet lovers in the local area!
