This is email communication with CEI hair schools admissions office and director.

If zero stars was an option, I'd pick it. I enrolled in their Easter special for $750, just to find out I wouldn't be able to attend on campus . I requested a cancellation of enrollment mid May of 2022. I communicated with the director directly as she called me to make sure I understood that registration fees would still be taken out , as they set up my account already. I agreed to this settlement. This was in July. Here we are in October and I still have not received a refund of any sort or any communication. This school does not care about you. They steal your money and pretend to value you. I'm all about supporting black owned businesses and children of God, but these people are not that in my opinion (and it seems in the opinions of many others. If you're allowed to purchase your course without a tour, I recommend choosing another institution altogether. It's quality over quantity and this institution is of no quality to ensuring your success.

The first Groupon I got was worth more than the second one they made me get. I will not be able to use the first Groupon before the expiration date. The front desk said it could still be redeemed after the date. We'll see about that. Anyway, I ended up spending more money than I thought. That said....the student who colored, shampooed, and cut my hair did a great job and even her teacher was impressed. The instructor Miss D made me feel that I could trust them and indeed everything about the hair was to my liking. They also took less time that I thought it would take. I would go back but the overall experience is not for everyone. I would say be very patient and understanding with everybody in the business. Anyway, I hope the student succeeds and reaches her stylist goals. I am rooting for them all!

I genuinely cannot believe the way the Elaine Sterling Institute handles customers -- and that's…read moresaying something, because I'm usually very patient and understanding, especially with students in training. Let me start with the student I worked with: she was sweet, eager to learn, and honestly the only bright spot in this entire nightmare. The rest? Absolutely atrocious. * Undertrained execution -- but I get she's new - I've had dozens of Hydrafacials from both spas and med spas, so I'm very familiar with proper technique. The student was clearly still learning and not yet comfortable with the suction component or the correct spacing of the device on the skin. I didn't say anything at the time because I understood she was in training -- and at $45 versus $150+ at a professional spa, I wasn't expecting perfection. Still, the bed was rock hard, and I left with a sore back. * Hospital-like setup - The treatment rooms are divided by odd curtains, giving the whole thing a cold, clinical feel instead of a relaxing spa environment. You're asked to put your belongings in plastic baskets "for safety," but those are left in the open which just makes it feel unsafe. * Random, low-quality products - Half of the benefit of a facial is using quality skincare products suited to your skin type. Here, they use a weird in-house line with low quality ingredients or use random products in small plastic tester cups. * Horrific customer service - The management is, without exaggeration, the most entitled and rudest I have ever encountered in any business. I was double charged for my service and treated with zero professionalism when I tried to get it resolved: * Predatory pricing & bait-and-switch tactics - Their own website spa menu listed a Hydrafacial at $45. My friend had been there two times before and always paid $45. I checked out without being told the total and was told my credit card on file would be charged. I later got an emailed receipt for $99. I emailed management politely asking about the discrepancy and seeking a refund, thinking it was a mix-up. No reply. The next day I called, only to be told that IT "couldn't find" the page I had screenshotted. When I checked the site again, the page was gone. A new "Spa Services" tab had appeared with brand-new pricing 2-3x higher than before. The manager insisted it had "always been $99" and they would not change the price (though I shared screen shots showing otherwise). When I asked her to reconsider so I wouldn't have to dispute the charge with my credit card, she told me -- verbatim -- "If you do that, you'll be banned for life." I have never met a more unprofessional person in my entire life. This is the sketchy facility they're running * Not an isolated case - Ironically, I later caught up with my friend who had been 2x before and her experience might have been worse. Her Hydrafacial machine broke mid-treatment, she was yelled at by management, and was also double charged -- despite previously paying only $45 for the exact same service. This isn't about one bad day or a single mishap. The issues here are systemic: poor training oversight, dismal facilities, random products, and management that treats customers like they're inconveniences rather than the reason the business exists. If you're considering going here to "save money" while supporting students -- think twice. You may end up paying more than you bargained for, both in dollars and in frustration.

I frequent beauty schools not for discounted services, but because I value education, innovation, and seeing the next generation of professionals develop. However, my experience at Empire Beauty School at Northlake on Henderson Mill Rd. in Atlanta raises serious concerns about leadership, training culture, and professional standards. In a nutshell, it's a total mess over there! From the front desk to several instructors, there is a noticeable lack of accountability, communication, and customer service. The only professional and solution-oriented educator I encountered was Jasmine, who immediately addressed an issue and took corrective action when no one else would. She was the only positive point in this experience. My concerns largely stem from, and are centered with the transgender instructor at this location (the only one there, and therefore clearly identifiable to management). To be clear, my issue is not their identity, but their conduct which was unprofessional and far below the standards expected in a training institution. The behavior of this particular instructor is deeply concerning and in my opinion, warrants IMMEDIATE corrective action. I booked my first appointment for makeup a month in advance. Upon arrival, this same instructor said "I should have called again" to confirm staffing, which is a requirement that was never communicated to me. And instead of being accommodated, I was turned away, despite the error being on the school. No effort to problem-solve was made. When I returned for the rescheduled appointment, there were last minute changes to products and timing. Despite arriving late, but within the window they required, it became clear that time was limited. I conceded to just getting my lashes done, but CeCe was willing to work quickly. She had clear concerns with the products, but she worked around it. Later that evening, she texted me asking for a tip to which I provided. We exchanged text communications regarding product use and I booked another session to give her more time to use the schools products for additional practice. However, I then received an unexpected call from that same teacher telling me my appointment would not be honored, citing an issue that was never communicated by the student nor noticed during our previous interactions. It felt disorganized, inconsistent, and quite frankly, unprofessional. While CeCe initially appeared professional, the inconsistency between what she communicated to me versus what her instructor claimed is concerning. It comes across as vacillating and potentially a bait-and-switch situation. I wholeheartedly believe Empire should consider modifying student selection and training processes. Revenue is important but immaturity is expensive. I wouldn't roll the dice on liability. Additionally, there were hygiene lapses by the instructor during a lash application demonstration. In a licensed traing institution, proper sanitation is non-negotiable. Hygiene should never be an afterthought. This instructor's hands were dirty and I could smell them! The school urgently needs stronger leadership. The director sets the tone for training, talent development and service standards. Right now, the environment lacks structure, consistency, and professionalism. With appropriate oversight and truly professional educators, this school could operate at the level the industry requires. As it stands, it does not.

If you're planning to get in this acting classes, STICK TO THE CLASSES AND CLASSES ONLY, do NOT engage in WAD or Lucky 7 "Convention" and definitely do not engage into extra activities, these people are money drains, and do not even care if you learn anything at all. First of all, that dude Lois Stancil, will sell you the dream of every actor, to put you in front of people who are in the media, and quite frankly, is absolutely false. Let's dig in: WAD is this scam event where they keep you for a whole day since the morning, feed you old (and possibly expired) snacks throughout the day, until the end of the day that they will give you a cold pizza... no drink...besides that, they make you memorize a script (which is fine, is part of the gig, you are an actor/actress), the problem comes when they tell you that you should get people to come see you, sell a $30+ ticket to come see you on a play, ask YOU to get props for the infamous play, and then have you perform inside the tiniest room in their building... I repeat: $30+ per ticket...the tiniest room in their building... now lets move on to: the "Lucky 7 CONVENTION" by definition, a convention is a LARGE GATHERING. where there is a showcase, an audience, and sometimes several judges... however LS acting studios big convention is actually, a gathering with mostly students, who can barely fit in a room so small, people cant even stretch out in their seats (yes, worse that Spirit Airlines if you ever flew with them), the "showcase" was rehearsed via ZOOM, over the course of 6 weeks, in which they tell you to do a monologue, a scene, and a "commercial" sample. They tell you that they will give you feedback, they won't, if they do, is not specific, they will give you a drop box and "dead lines" that they don't even respect themselves, so it kinda doesn't matter really, they don't even care... the instructors don't even follow up their own drop box instructions, for example: they tell you they want a specialty instrument video and instrumental ONLY , and when you send it, exactly as requested, they tell you it was supposed to be both singing and playing an instrument... they ask you to do your resume in a certain way, and then write in the instructions a different way, etc. In the drop box instructions we were told that if we didn't submit a video for either commercial, or scene or monologue, we wouldn't be able to perform it... well I decided I did not want to do commercials, and therefore, didn't submit the commercial sample video, well guess what? they asked me to do the commercial sample anyways so I had to improvise. But hang on, that's not it, they didn't even ask me to do the scene! Their people (not sure if you can call them employees because they DON'T GET PAID) will feed you home made sandwiches (yes, made right there in a corner inside the building), again, not even water was given... and then they promise you will be seen by agents and "important people in the industry", but guess what? is NOT true... it's just Louis and his helper (in this case Monique) and a couple of cheap cameras, a cheap amazon bought boom mic - not connected to anywhere- and a couple of screens (allegedly a zoom show case with "important people of the industry") . But hey, that's not all, when people asked Louis who are these people in the zoom call, he tells you they will give you the list prior to the show case (he doesn't), then the day comes, people asked again who are these people, and then he says that he doesn't want to make people nervous so he will give the list later... (he doesn't). After the whole thing, you go on a $40 trip to Warner Studios (the only thing included in this "convention" and the only thing worth doing). Now get this: They only send you the list after the whole trip is over, and actually, even a week after. Also, that list includes people who used to work for independent agencies, or brand new agencies with no impact whatsoever in a serious actor's life, oh and a couple of agencies who are intentionally spelled wrong that imply that they are serious agencies... but they're not. And all of this for the affordable price of $2,000 (flights, hotel, meals, and other... not included). If you ask me, it is a very nicely structured SCAM, that doesn't feel too much of a scam, until you tell someone about it... In other reviews, Louis Stancil as a person, wouldn't recommend either, you see this guy likes to yell at people in front of others, body shame girls, comment on people's accent, and of course he loves being praised by the people who slave for him (yes all of those poor actors that I truly wish they weren't in that situation, but unfortunately are helping him run this SCAM of a "school"). Save yourself the trouble, if you want to, just do the classes.
