I got married at Snug Harbor on 6/17/22, and despite some bumps in the road leading up to the day, the day itself was perfect thanks to my amazing team at celebrate. I wasn't satisfied with the condition of the Chinese Scholar Garden during my walk-through, and the team was so flexible and helped us change the cocktail hour location to the Tuscan Garden at the last second, which I really appreciate. I couldn't believe how beautiful the tented pavilion looked on the night of my event. My team was really responsive to any concerns that I had and I am extra grateful for Jessica! I think there is room for improvement when it comes to signage for guests and parking (a lot of people were confused) but other than that, my guests raved abut everything. Also I would suggest that they upgrade to some prettier fans for the tented pavilion. But those are my only cons! read more

Our wedding and reception at Snug Harbor was one of the best parties I've ever been to. The service, the food, organization, and environment all came together to make it a wonderful and magical event. We were married in early August of 2015. Our ceremony was held in the Chinese Scholar Garden and the reception at the tented pavilion a short walk away. Our theme was Midsummer Night's Dream meets 1920's Lawn Party. We had around 130 guests. We chose the Extended Cocktail Wedding Celebration package with a sampling of butler styled hors d'oeuvres, fruit and cheese board, and Mediterranean and sushi stations. For dinner, we had buffet stations of pasta, salad, made to order Asian stir fry, and a carving station of three items. There was also a dessert station. The food was outstanding! They were able to cater to many different tastes and dietary restrictions. We were all very pleased with food. The environment fit our theme perfectly. The gardens and grounds where we took our photos and had our ceremony were clean, well groomed, verdant, and blooming. We set up a badminton net on the lawn next to the pavilion with cafe tables and chairs on the edge. We also set up a photo booth with backdrop on the lawn. Last and most importantly was the service and organization of our event. Everything went off without a hitch. There was plenty of time for our vendors to set up--DJ, live band, sound guy, photographer, MC, flowers/designer, and videographer. There was ample parking, a convenient place for our shuttle bus to pick up and drop off guests, and it was easy to get to and from the ferry on public transportation. We had a personal attendant who made sure we had enough food and drink. The staff worked well with our vendors and MC to make it the most special of times. This review is for wedding venue meeting. I did not hire them or have my wedding there: As pretty as the outdoors is, I need to leave a review for this place for a few reasons. 1. There is hardly any flexibility about where to have your ceremony and reception. They give two options. One is the nice ceremony area with the grand ballroom. And the other is a really not so nice ceremony area with the tented pavilion. I really wanted the tented pavilion instead of the traditional old grand ballroom, but they said it has to be one combination or the other for that. 2. They told me they would email me some packages afterwards, but never did. No follow through there. 3. I called and tried to speak to the person who met with me to ask a few questions. He was busy, so they left a message for him. He never called me back or anything. I guess they didn't want my business. read more

Mike G. and I got married here on 11/12/17. This venue is magical. We actually first walked in here over a year before our wedding and looked at other venues after. But nothing could compare to walking into that Great Hall with the sun pouring in through the windows. And so it was on our wedding day. The sunlight backlighting the chuppah and adding a magical glow to all of our wedding pictures. The sunlight playing off of the sunflower arrangements. And the sunlight glinting off of the happy tears in everyone's eye. It's rare that I enjoy the food at weddings, and rarer still for a bride and groom to enjoy the food at their own wedding. But we managed to do just that. We took the opportunity to honor the tradition of yichud (a Jewish ceremonial separation of the bride and groom from the festivities to have their first moments as husband and wife). At this time Pia, the bridal attendant, together with my coordinator arranged for most of the cocktail hour nibbles to be tastefully arranged in the bridal suite. We were both so busy getting ready that morning that this was our first bite of food. The presentation and taste of our custom signature drink was out of this world. The unanimous feedback from guests is that they enjoyed the food and it's usually the first compliment we get. Although there was an initial mix-up with the reception menu our coordinator and Ian worked together to remedy the situation and everything worked out, nobody knew but us and well now you Yelpers. Back to pictures, Celebrate sits in a botanical garden and is rife with architectural gems. Again and again I have recommended the Snug Harbor grounds for those looking to take wedding photos. Unfortunately for us November 12th brought the first cold snap. Fortunately for us, we still got gorgeous pictures right outside of Celebrate and of course plenty with the gorgeous ballroom inside. I can't imagine having a more perfect wedding day, and it's all thanks to the kindness, support and hard work of Theresa, Ian, Marissa and the rest of their team. They were so attentive and answered all of our questions, and went above and beyond on our big day in ways that blew me away. When it became evident that our outdoor wedding wasn't in the cards due to rain, they worked with my husband to put together a contingency plan that ended up being so much more special than what we had originally planned. I ended up being so grateful for the rain because I wouldn't have wanted to change a single thing about our day. I really can't thank them enough for everything they did for us, and all the small touches they provided (like the way they prepped my bridal suite, the custom dessert chef made for my husband and I, and providing table number holders when I realized I had left ours at home -- at least it wasn't the rings!) I don't have any family near me up here in New York so I felt very overwhelmed when I first began planning - worried that I was going to have all the weight on my shoulders and that I wouldn't be able to pull it off. The SH team stepped in and actualized my dreams. I really can't recommend them, or the beautiful gardens enough. Nasty and terrible to deal with. My wife and I fell in love with Snug Harbor and decided ghat is where we wanted to get married. When we mentioned it to another couple we know that was married there, they both said how horrible it was. They said the woman in charge of their wedding was rude and unaccommodating. We really wanted to get married at Snug Harbor and decided to check it out ourselves, thinking maybe our friends just happened to not "click" with the management. When we met with their head planner, she kept us waiting, interrupted our scheduled appointment several times, and didn't listen to a thing we said we wanted. I don't know if she is the owner or if the owner just doesn't care enough to have someone decent running their place. We choose not to have our wedding here so this review may not be the one that would help you as much as someone who did have their wedding here. My wife and I were married else ware and would up attending another wedding here a few months after ours. The food was very good, the grounds are great, but they too hated dealing with the planner and said if they had to do it over again, they would have their wedding there, but would request another person to help. Stephanie & I just got married there last weekend, it's a Great Venue. We had the ceremony right in the Upper Great Hall. Followed by a Cocktail Reception. The Food was Great and the Service was Excellent All our guest had a Wonderful time. Tara was helpful through out the planning and the bridal assistant on the big day could not have been more helpful. From the very beginning celebrate at Snug Harbor made sure to be attentive to myself and my husbands needs, wants and desires. The team was professional and punctual. Erin is the sweetest most hardworking woman and made sure that I felt calm and satisfied throughout the entire process from day 1 until my wedding day. My husband and I discovered Snug Harbor and its gorgeous gardens on a bike ride a few years ago. So, when we were planning for our big day, we were thrilled to learn that it was a wedding venue. Snug Harbor is a true gem, and so is Landmark Venues. We worked with Terra, who is such a wonderful and helpful person. She gave us a tour of Snug Harbor's different wedding locations, and helped us choose the one that fit us best. I probably emailed Terra dozens of emails with random questions, and she promptly answered all of them. I was very impressed, especially because other vendors I worked with were difficult to reach sometimes. But Terra was always available. She even recommended hotels, flower vendors and photographers. On the day of the wedding (June 2016), the entire staff helped everything run smoothly and perfectly. We wanted an outdoor wedding in the White Garden, but it happened to rain. They still set up chairs outside (just in case!) but also set up chairs inside the beautiful Upper Great Hall, where we had the ceremony. We did a Sunday brunch, and the food following the ceremony was amazing. So was the Palermo's bakery cake. The acoustics (we had a live band) were great, and there was lots of room for dancing. The bridal attendant helped me so much. She got me food and brought over coffee, wine, wedding cake, etc. She also helped me find all of my belongings as the wedding wrapped up. I don't know what I would have done without her! We had such a great experience with Snug Harbor. I would highly recommend this venue to other couples. read more

Snug harbor was the most perfect venue for our wedding! It was an absolutely gorgeous setting- set amid gardens and easily accessible from NYC. We saw about 15 different venues before we fell in love with snug. It's distinct feel and unique setup really set it above the rest. Additionally, it was important for us to have most things included within the venue (ex: catering and ceremony location). We got married on Labor Day weekend in the Tuscan garden, had cocktail hour out there and then the reception in the Great Hall. We took pictures on the grounds prior to the ceremony. I truly believe this is the most hidden gem of a venue in New York and would recommend it to anyone. While we live in Manhattan, having our guests take the ferry over made for a fun experience (especially for out of towners). A good deal of our guests drove as well, which worked out great. We were quite worried based on some of the other reviews but Landmark turned this place around and eased any concerns. The venue staff did a phenomenal job ensuring everything was on track and aligned with our expectations. This was especially important as we did not book a day of coordinator separately. David (the maitre'd) and Jessica (bridal attendant) particularly stood out. The food was awesome (guests loved it). Having the cake included was a great plus as well. The staff were able to keep things moving perfectly the day of- very natural transitions throughout the evening (aka cocktail hour to reception). We were not rushed out at the end, and were able to calmly pack up and head out. Snug was also really helpful in some of their vendor recommendations. read more

STAY AWAY! I recently had my wedding at Snug Harbor on May 25, 2019. It was a wonderful day in that I married my husband & we spent the day/night with our family & friends.. Upon me showing up to Snug Harbor to get ready at 12:30, John sent my now husband a video of the room being set up. It was very nice of him to send the video - the problem was the room was set up completely wrong. We did kings tables for our wedding. We were supposed to have four of them, but in the video there was only two... hmm Okay? Which meant my seating board and everything was pretty much useless. So, upon arriving & making them aware of the mistake (apparently they didn't even know it was wrong) , I physically -- in my bridal robe & my photographer waiting -- was moving tables around, moving chairs around & reorganizing the room & losing time from my photographer that I paid for. I'm not sure how or why they got the seating wrong, but they didn't think it was a problem & thought it looked perfect - hence why they sent the video. The fact of the matter was there needed to be FOUR tables & I was shown TWO & told it looks great. Now onto the air conditioning.... I've recently found out that the HVAC unit wasn't even turned on yet for the season prior to my wedding (5/25/19) because it was broken & they needed to replace it. At no point was I ever told that the day of my wedding on a 75 degree day in May would have no air conditioning. We complained to John throughout the day about it & he kept telling us " it's on 55, it's catching up". He lied to us & told us the air was just "catching up" when the fact of the matter is there was NONE. The AC wasn't even installed yet so it's IMPOSSIBLE that it could have been on when there was nothing to actually turn on. I was told by Snug Harbor Maintenance that the chiller was being installed the day before & the day of my wedding so they LIED when they said the air was on. They never informed us EVER that there was a problem. They just stood there & let us yell & scream about how hot it was & just kept saying the air is catching up. What a joke! All of my guests were sweating! During me and my dad's first dance I couldn't believe how soaked he was after coming out of cocktail hour. We actually spoke about the AC during our first dance! THAT'S how bad it was! If it's 75 degrees outside - it's 95 inside.. We didn't attend the cocktail hour, but many of my guests have since told me how hot & uncomfortable it was. Relish Caterers informed me after I called & complained after my wedding that they knew about the problem since the beginning of May -- THREE WEEKS before my wedding!!! & at NO POINT tried to remedy the situation, bring in outside AC or even tell me there was a problem! It was clear that there was, but me & my husband were told the air was on when, in fact, it never was. When we dropped off our favors on Wednesday before the wedding it was very warm in the bridal suite, hallways, etc & we actually left the building & walked back in to ask SPECIFICALLY about the air conditioning where John informed us that the air will be on, not to worry -- when he KNEW that it wouldn't. The fact of the matter is is that we thought it was enough of an issue to walk back in after leaving & inquiring about it & Relish on the other hand did not. This was four days before our wedding & they just went about everything like it was fine & nothing was wrong. Regardless of what Snug Harbor told Relish that it would be up & running on May 25 - Relish didn't find it important enough to let their Client know of the issue or try to have a backup plan incase it wouldn't be on -- which it wasn't! There was more than enough time to figure out a plan of action, but they just lied & lied the whole day, the days before & brushed us off. If I would have known there wouldn't have been air conditioning at my wedding I wouldn't have booked Snug Harbor! I understand sometimes things happen that are out of your control the day of -- but this was an issue that was known about for THREE WEEKS PRIOR & we were just lied to the entire day & night, the days prior to our wedding. At no point were we ever apologized to before I called & complained three days after my wedding. At not point did anyone at Relish Caterers try to make up for it in any substantial way considering I paid them 36k to have a wedding where my guests were uncomfortable, my husband was dripping sweat, my father was soaked. I was told by David at Relish that they set up an ice cream sundae bar at the reception to make up for it -- I'm not sure where they set it up or if they even did - I didn't see one, it wasn't brought to my attention ever so I'm not quite sure where it was or if it even existed. I've never written a review -- especially a negative one -- in my entire life. But if this is the kind of business Relish Caterers wants to run & brush off their Clients on the day of their wedding then good luck to anyone booking their wedding with them. read more

DO NOT have your wedding here! This venue is disorganized, unaccommodating, and unprofessional in their dealings. I had my wedding and reception here in July 2014. It took the Celebrate at Snug Harbor team over 6 months to provide a decent contract -- due mainly to poor management (with no experience) overseeing our event. We were so frustrated with the management, that we ultimately asked only to deal with the owners. Even still, we received our contract only 2 weeks before our event, despite numerous phone calls and e-mail reminders about items we needed addressed. Had we not already been locked into the nearby hotel, we would not have moved forward with Celebrate at Snug Harbor. As a client, you can expect the Celebrate team will not be on top of e-mails or phone calls and will drop the ball unless you do their job for them. The Celebrate team even went back on their word about things they promised us and our caterer. As if this wasn't enough -- one week before the wedding, we found out the Celebrate team failed to let the landlord (the Parks Department) know where our tented reception was going to be held. This meant we did not have permission to pitch our tent at Snug Harbor. Our planner was luckily able to resolve everything days before the wedding, but with no help from Celebrate (who was trying to blame our tent company for their own mistakes). Hours before the reception, the Celebrate team threatened to cancel our reception!! They sent us numerous incorrect invoices in which they overcharged us by a couple of thousand dollars and refused to correct this. After 2 hrs of bickering on our wedding day, we finally came to an agreement. I would never recommend this venue to anyone. It's such a shame because Snug Harbor is such a beautiful, hidden gem, but Celebrate at Snug Harbor's management is unreliable and disorganized -- which I imagine will hurt them in the long run. read more

I wish I could give Snug Harbor a good review because the place is really beautiful BUT their wedding team is non-responsive and it became clear over the past month that they did not want to host our wedding. Our initial communication began 7/10 with Marisa. We inquired about wedding packages and the option of having just the wedding there. Marisa confirmed that she was able to get approval for the wedding-only if we wanted to go with that option. So we set up a time to visit and she looped in Ian who (unfortunately) would be our primary contact from then on. We met with Ian on 7/28 and had a great conversation with him and his assistant who gave us a tour of the property - we even met the owner! During our meeting we spoke about 3 options (wedding only, wedding + cocktail hour, and wedding + cocktail + reception) and he promised he would send us the options and pricing within the coming week. Fast forward to 8/6 , we didn't receive anything so we sent a follow up email. Ian replied 8/9 with all of the available dates but no wedding package options. We followed up again on 8/13 and never got a response back. As a last ditch effort, we called 8/17 and spoke with Ian himself who said he would sent it over right away. It is now 8/30 and they still have never sent us anything. Out of all the venues we've contacted (and there were A LOT) this was the most unprofessional experience we've had so far! read more

The wedding for our daughter at Snug Harbor on October was a huge success and we especially want to convey our good reviews to the team there headed by Terra and Chef James. Terra was a dream to work with and the food was really delicious. The place looked gorgeous too. One thing that we particularly appreciated was Terra's accommodation concerning the weather. It was touch and go that day and she was able to plan for the ceremony to still be held at the Tuscan Garden and moved the cocktail hour to the Lower Great Hall and so we got the best of both worlds. My wedding would not have been the same amazing experience without Snug Harbor. Terra and her team run a tight ship here. I had people asking during my wedding if I had hired a wedding planner - nope, just Terra. And she comes with the venue! 1. The venue could not be more gorgeous. I did not want a gaudy typical wedding venue with tacky statues and fountains...I also didn't want to get married in an industrial cold and modern warehouse in Brooklyn. Those seemed to be the only types of options in the NY-NJ area. For smaller weddings, you can choose the White Garden/Chinese Garden/Tented Pavilion option. Or, for indoor ceremonies, the Art Gallery. For larger weddings, you can choose the Great Hall/Tuscan Garden. All are beautiful. No, this is not a "budget" wedding, but compared to other venues in the area this is a steal. Keep in mind, with Snug Harbor you're getting TONS of food: cocktail hour, with a signature cocktail, passed small plates, cutting board, passed wine, open bar, pasta station, entrees, cake, dessert table, and more (everyone said everything was delicious); small decorations like candles and a tented pavilion with string lights (ladies, a tent and lighting alone is going to cost you 1K each to bring in yourself anywhere else!), fantastic staff including the amazing detail-oriented Terra, a bridal attendant and professional servers; and one of the most beautiful venues (with on-site, free parking). 3. Did I mention Terra? There were two weddings at the venue that day and I have no idea how she was in a two places at once. I was definitely the "lesser spend" of the two weddings as well, but was still treated like a priority. She is also honest, recommending the buffet to me instead of formal dinner and also mentioning I probably wouldn't need an extra hour at the bar - both decisions which saved me a lot of money and she was completely right. I imagine most people in other situations would completely support you spending more money. It was also raining that day and she let us wait until the absolute last minute to decide to keep it outdoors or inside. Note on the location: It ended up being perfect to get to for both guests from New Jersey and New York City. Plenty of quality hotels nearby, but make sure you snatch them up quickly as they surprisingly book up fast due to other weddings and events on Staten Island. The drive there from New Jersey is definitely not scenic...let's just say that. But once you're in Snug Harbor you won't even believe where you are. Personally, I don't care about that stuff. One star because negative 100 wasn't an option. I recently hosted an event at Snug Harbor hosted by Relish Caterers for my daughter's wedding and it was ridiculously expensive. Although Snug Harbor is an incredible place to visit, if you're looking for an event to be catered avoid Relish Caterers as they manage the food service part of the equation. First of all it was incredibly expensive, most of the courses were cold, the filet was overcooked AND cold, and when I happened to run into Chef Daryl and mentioned some of the dining shortcomings he was rude and aggressive, so much so that I had to tear my new son in law away from the situation because he was beside himself. It was so bad that I'm going to restage the party somewhere else, as soon as I can save another $20,000 to pay for it with. Don't let my bad be your bad. read more

The venue went through quite a transformation in 2014. We were fortunate enough to wed there in September 2014. We have read the negative reviews, and we're sure many of them carry validity, but we honestly believe Celebrate at Snug Harbor has received those reviews very productively and turned itself around. We locked ourselves into a contract with Celebrate over a year and a half before our wedding day. To be honest, we were getting worried about the poor experiences being posted online. We felt the best way to approach it was to be open about our concerns. Our event specialists were forthright and understanding. We very much appreciated their acknowledgment of how things had been far from perfect and how they were hell-bent on improving. Come the big day, I was not at all disappointed and would definitely recommend this venue! I totally understand that just a few months prior, many couples would be in complete opposition. But we saw things transform, and we think that speaks wonders to Celebrate's commitment. Everything came together beautifully, and we wholeheartedly attribute it to Celebrate since we didn't have it in our budget to hire a planner. We had an Indian-Chinese wedding in September 2015 at Snug Harbor. We had our ceremony in the Tuscan Garden, our cocktail hour in the Chinese Scholar Garden and our reception in the tented pavilion. It was the best day of our lives and Celebrate at Snug Harbor definitely contributed to the perfection of the day. We were initially hesitant to use Snug Harbor because of mixed reviews, however we LOVED the look and feel of the venue...when we met with Terra Hudson (our contact there) she quickly was able to address all our concerns and as it turns out had been brought in to deal with some of the issues that had previously been brought up in past reviews. From our first meeting with Terra to our wedding day, she was professional, punctual and kept us up to date with everything. Our wedding day turned out to be the same day as the Autumn Moon Festival and anticipating the crowds, Terra was quick to offer that we move our ceremony to the Tuscan Garden from the White Garden at no cost. This was amazing, since the Tuscan garden was suited perfectly for our ceremony with the existing stage. In addition, she worked with our Indian caterers to ensure that they would be able to use the Snug Harbor kitchen facilities given the autumn moon festival would cause road closures impacting their ability to drive in the food. On the wedding day, the staff was on top of everything, ensuring that things kept to the schedule and that we always had a drink in hand and food if we wanted it. We decided not to have my daughter and her fiancé's wedding here. Thursday, I had to call Ian Anderson twice before he remembered to email me the specifications of this venue. Friday, I called and spoke to Erin and made the appointment with her to see the venue. She was efficient and immediately emailed me the confirmation that we will have our meeting at 130pm with Ian. Saturday, we got there 5 minutes before 130pm and looked around the Great Hall as it was being prepped for a wedding. There was a nice wait staff that we spoke to and brought us to see Ian in his office. We met Ian outside his office and he told us to walk back to the Great Hall and wait for him there as he was just going to grab his laptop. The walk from his office to the Great Hall is less than a minute as it is in the same building. We sat inside the Great Hall while some of the wait staff was preparing for the wedding. Vendors started to arrive and we had to move out into the hallway. We stood and waited for 25 minutes and there's no sight of Ian. Hmmm, how long does it take for you to grab your laptop Ian? We left and thought maybe Ian will call and say - hey, I can't find you? did you leave?- but nothing, no calls nor emails. It made us think - does Celebrate Snug Harbor's event specialist choose their clients based on who they want to be their client? (Maybe they assess race/ethnicity?) I read a few bad reviews here regarding the planning or the meeting with the venue staff here but I also wanted to be fair and not base it on other people's reviews so I still called and made the appointment. Attended a wedding at their outdoor pavilion and was seated in a bamboo chair that tore a hole in my pants. The event coordinator gave me the General Manager's (Patricia) contact info and told me that she would make it right. Called several times the following week and left messages with the receptionist. Finally got a call back the following weekend asking me to send in a bunch of pictures and receipts. Emailed all of the requested docs and then radio silence. Have called back several times but seems that nobody knows how to return a phone call at this place. Celebrate at Snut Harbor is non-responsive and has not delivered on their promise. I can only imagine how their team would let you down if you were actually going to try to have a special event here. Stay away! read more

We just had our wedding at Celebrate at Snug Harbor this past Saturday, 12/12. Our ceremony and reception were in the Upper Great Hall and the cocktail hour was in the Lower Great Hall. While we were looking at possible wedding venues, I already knew that I loved the photos of the Upper Great Hall. When we saw the space in person, we fell in love with it. The architecture is breathtaking. And though our wedding was in December, the beautiful grounds of Snug Harbor added to its appeal. It feels like you are not really in Staten Island, that it's kind of its own little world. As Staten Island residents, we love that we have memories at Snug Harbor and can keep visiting for years to come. Celebrate at Snug Harbor was towards the higher end of our budget and we did not want a large wedding, but the winter prices and minimum guarantees are slightly lower than peak season, so we were able to make it work. In the end, it was well worth what we spent. Terra Hudson was our contact, and she was very helpful. She was very responsive to my many questions throughout the planning process. Terra also has a calming presence that helps with any nerves about logistics. When the day of the wedding came, it could not have gone better. In addition to the fact that we were somehow blessed with a clear 60+ degree day in mid-December, all of our wedding plans came together beautifully. The Great Hall was the perfect setting for our ceremony, and was turned around quickly to become our gorgeous reception venue. The staff, especially our bridal attendant, Jessica and maitre d' David were so helpful in making sure that we and our guests had everything we needed. The food was very good- our guests agreed that it was much better than typical wedding fare. The only glitch we had was we were missing an additional liquor we had requested, but Jessica quickly had it fixed. We had a fantastic wedding day, and we are so grateful that we went with Celebrate at Snug Harbor! read more
