It was an awesome-amazing experience at my first trip to The Staaten. We came from Long Island so after a slow trip on the Belt it was a welcome quick trip once we got over the Verrazano Bridge. I like the fact that it was very easy to get to and the large parking lot made it very easy. It is a beautiful entry as you come in and I would say that this is a perfect place for a wedding, I was here for a Kiwanis dinner. We had around 120 people in a large room with plenty of space for more had it been necessary. The room is big and bright with plenty of dance floor available. The team here is marvelous. They are just so cognizant of what is happening around them. After ordering a simple glass of club soda twice... they brought me a small pitcher. Dinner started off with salad and a vodka pasta dish, both were really good. The main meal was a choice of Salmon, Chicken Rollatini or Pork Chop. All fantastic. It's nice that the bulk of the food was all served at the same time. It was incredibly tasty and hot... perfect. I am definitely looking forward to my next trip back here. Came here for a reception and they did a good job. It seems like they throw multiple events at once so parking can become an issue, but the staff inside was good at directing us to the right room. Our event had a cocktail hour with a whole buffet full of delicious foods from charcuterie items. sushi. chicken wings, shrimp cocktails, salmon, calmari, and oysters. Plus the open bar had a very attentive bartender. I had way too much food here. Then we went to another room for dinner where there was a big dance floor. The staff was great at bringing out each course. The prime rib was great but the baked potato was really hard. Then the dessert spread had cakes, an ice cream sundae station, and a chocolate fountain. I know a lot of the food was due to our host's picking some great items, but the food was almost universally delicious and there was plenty of it in a timely manner. Nice venue. Came here for a 30th birthday party. The appetizers were good. The bartender wasn't very attentive although it was only a party of 50 people. My husband ordered a drink at the bar and I was standing right next to him but the bartender did not take my order. Very strange when there were only 2 other people at the bar. I ended up walking away and drinking my water because it was rude and taking too long. The rooms are pretty close to each other. I think that door near our table was a part of the party room we were in was supposed to stay closed but it did not so we saw other guests walking to their party. From start to finish, the staff was attentive, professional and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Food and service is very good here with friendly . It started off with salad with a great dressing. Then with a vodka pasta dish both which were really good. And the main was a choice of salmon , flank steak and chicken parm. I had the flank steak which was very good for a tough cut of meat. Came with beans and a potato croquette . Wife had the salmon with same sides. We thought they both were very good. Ice cream station and cake topped it off. Was a good time here as most islanders book here . Been some time between visits here but still remains a good place for parties. read more

My daughters first birthday party was at the Staaten this weekend. They have recently renovated it and it's stunning inside. We had a breakfast brunch. Everything was delicious. Everyone was up for 2nds. Their sangrias and mimosas and blood Mary's were so good too. It was a great party. The owner was very helpful and kind when booking her party. He even came in to check on us. Always making sure we are happy and everything is running smoothly. Our servers and Maître d' were very helpful through the whole party. They did a great job. I been attending parties at the Staaten for 25 years . I turned 50 this year I decided to have my birthday party at the Staaten. I wanted my guest to have a wonderful time and they did . I received many compliments from my guests saying how impressed they were with my party from the food being so delicious and the service was very attentive and professional and that the Staaten it self was so clean and the room was so impressive. I wouldn't change a thing all my guests and I had a wonderful time . The Staaten makes planing a party easy there straight forward with everything there's no hidden fees there just professional to deal with. This place is good but not great, earning itself 3 stars. The decor is nice but nothing outstanding. The staff I must say is very professional and friendly as well. I ordered the steak cooked Medium, and it did not come cooked right and wasn't that great honestly. My friends said the chicken and salmon were better choices. I came here for an engagement party and I think it was a good enough venue for the occasion. I don't think this place would be good for a wedding though. A bridal shower, sweet 16, or an engagement party would be appropriate for this location . read more

I came here because my cousin's church held their 20th anniversary banquet at Li Greci's Staaten and we had a good time. You could easily get full off of the hors d'oeuvres. The food was actually decent which is saying a lot considering catering hall food is usually meh. The staff was friendly and the catering manager was bopping his head a long to the music. Also, I've been to several catering halls and I've never been given a to-go container before. I'm glad we got it because after the hors d'oeuvres and the pasta dish, I was stuffed (and so was everyone else at my table). My company, Gateway Arms Realty had a wonderful event across the street, at our new location at 686 Forest Avenue yesterday. They were so good about setting up our wonderful food and drink, I must've had at least four plates of their delicious foods! Pigs in a blanket, spanakopita, chicken wings and clams oregenatta were all hot and delicious! You should have seen them crossing Forest Avenue, with high top tables and hors o'oeuvres! The service was truly stellar and made such a great impression on our guests! We are so proud to have them as our neighbors in the Forest Avenue Business Improvement District! My mouth is already watering in anticipation of our annual Holiday party! They are also great at keeping secrets, with my broker's surprise birthday party!! read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I have been to the Staaten before and everything was amazing! I planned my mother's 60th Birthday party and was so excited! i was told we would have one of the newly renovated rooms and when my father went to go pay the deposit he was shown a beautiful room. The day of my mother's surprise party, they put us in their downstairs room, which we were not shown (and they comfirmed at the party they never show this room). There was an old musty smelly rug, pillars of broken mirrors, dirty walls, paint of the chairs, floors held together by duct tape, 8 foot ceilings that make you feel claustrophobic. Instead of admitting their wrongs, they informed me it was a miscommunication and they offered a cheese board and a sundae bar! I was so infuriated that I didn't even think to ask for a refund or money back! Since I was angry, which I am sure I had every right to be for being put in a room we did not request, the host went around to our guests telling everyone I was crazy and asked my best friend if she was the nicer one. The lack of professionalism is disgusting. The icing on the cake is, I found out that someone else who had a party there a month prior dealt with the same situation! So the Staaten is double booking parties in a room that is beautiful and the day of the party, putting one group in their downstairs room so they can make money from all rooms! I am disgusted and it's illegal to show someone a room and put them in another. They should be ashamed of themselves! Do not trust your booking there because it may be a scam!! read more

Came to Staaten for the first time for a company luncheon. The service was great, friendly, mannerable staff. Place was clean, even the silverware ( I've gone to places where I had to send them back for proper cleaning! Unacceptable). The food was AMAZING! ALL of my good was hot, which I really appreciated. I threw my sister's bridal shower here last summer and they were really great. For starters, they were inexpensive and the package pretty much took care of everything. For $35 a person we got, salad, pasta, main course, a cake, a champagne bar, unlimited coffee, tea, soda, linens (we chose the color), a wishing well, and chair for the bride. They took care of everything and answered any and all questions I had. I really enjoyed the food and the cocktail punch they served was really good. The place itself is a little outdated. It's very old school with the decor. If you are looking for something more modern, look elsewhere. Also, the cake they served was not good at all. But you are able to bring in your own dessert if you want so it isn't much of a problem. read more

I recently had my wedding at the Staaten. I was so happy with everything. The food was magnificent and plenty and the staff was attentive and courteous. I didn't have to worry about a single thing- Gary and his staff took care of it all from the cake to the decor. We had a blast and everyone was stuffed from all the excellent food! I loved that the ice sculpture was a claddagh design (perfect for our Irish wedding). I highly recommend the staaten to anyone looking to have a wedding or other party. I am a huge fan of the Staaten. I grew up going to parties here and the food was always delicious. Now that I am working and doing events on Staten Island, Gary and his team have been so accommodating. It is a true pleasure working with them and I always tell everyone how delicious the food is and how good the service is. Since I work for a non-profit, they are also wonderful about meeting our budgets. They care very much about the community and give back everyday. I definitely recommend having parties here. I have to say catering halls food usually scare the crap out of me and usually go for dinner after the event. However I have been to the Staaten several times now and I have to give them credit. If you are a vegetarian or vegan this isn't the place for you. I was here for a memorial repast recently. We were offered a choice of steak, chicken, or salmon- when I asked about a vegetarian entree, the waiter told me that he would "do something for me." Before I say anything more, I must say that the staff is wonderful- they are kind and attentive and were able to put up with many of my very difficult, demanding older relatives, which is more than I can say about myself. So anyway, the first course was quite good; it was a standard house salad. The second course was penne a la vodka which, again, was quite good. This is where my experience took a turn for the worse. When it came time for entrees, my waiter placed a plate of grilled vegetables in front of me- half of a tomato, half of a red pepper, asparagus, and a few mushrooms. Is that seriously what the chef thinks vegetarians/vegans eat? Just vegetables? I understand I was (probably) the only vegetarian in the hall that day but just because I don't eat meat does not mean that I don't enjoy eating actual "people" food - I hate using that term but I, honestly, felt like a rabbit. I've been to catering halls that have put together beautiful vegetarian/vegan dishes for me: vegan lasagna, pasta dishes, etc... The chef just took some vegetables and laid them down on a grill then placed them on a plate. That's it. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food, so if you are a carnivore you should have a pleasant experience at Li Greci's Staaten. I was pleased with everything otherwise, so I'll give it a 3/5. Not too bad but it definitely could have been better. read more

This is my favorite venue for private parties. Food and service is top notch. Beautiful place

AVOID THE VALET PARKING!!! Food is good and plentiful but avoid the valet. A great event was almost ruined by bad valet experience. Valets took our claim ticket but took over 30 minutes to find our key fob. Elderly parents ages 92 and 89 were left standing outdoors waiting. When they told us they lost it, we were facing a $500 fob replacement, 200 miles from home, and 90-year-olds depending on us to drive them home. After rudely insisting that I must have misplaced they key myself, the Key was "discovered" by valets. I might return to the Staaten, but I will never use their valet. I recommend that you don't either. On-street parking is safer. read more

I called Jack get some information and he was so pleasant to speak to. I was torn between two places and once I met Jack I knew this was the place. Jack showed me the rooms and explained everything to me. Then I met Gary and he was great. He explained everything to me in detail. I wanted everything to be perfect for my mother and they both made it happen. Everything went smooth all the way to the very end. We set the brunch up from 11am-3 pm and we walked in by 9:30 to set things up. When we walked in most of everything even the tables were basically set up. The crew did an amazing job. Candy was the best! When my mom walked in she was amazed. She loved everything! The food was amazing! Everyone she speaks with still talks about the food and what a great time they all had. I'm so glad that Jack and Gary along with their crew helped me throw a great party for my mom. She had such a great time and she is still shocked and happy about everything. The owner of this place is a real class act. One of his valets(who I doubt even as a license. Looked like he was 12) some how smashed the front end of a car. Don't know how fast they were going in a small parking lot to pull that off. They had her the car and don't even say it was damaged. I guess they wanted her not to notice. And then the owner screams at her like it's her fault. He then wants says it's "NO BIG DEAL! IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. WELL TAKE CARE OF IT." If you care about your car, don't valet it at this place. In fact just go somewhere else. I really can't get over how big of an ass that guy was. I already shared this story with everyone I know in Staten Island. I understand mistakes happen, but you should be upfront with them and not be an ass about it. read more
