Went for a 40th birthday food and sangria was delicious! They have a nice size room for a party! And plenty of street parking!

I attended a party at this place and I must say they have a great and spacious party room , the staff is really friendly and the food surpassed my expectations.. absolutely great food !!! But now to the reason why there's only 3 stars ... The bar is not really that great and their selection of beers and other alcohol content is very poor . It's summer in full force and they didn't even have the beer on tap that I wanted . So that was disappointing.. also need better tequila cause the selection is not that great .. So if you want a place for great fun , great staff and great food .. that's definitely for you .. but if you like a selection of beers , tequila etc.. not so good .. read more

Great local spot for grub, watching the game, playing lotto, and of course, drinks. You likely will get involved in conversation with very friendly locals. Good mix of ages, very neighborhood-y. It's a cool space too ... one room can either be a private dining area for events, but also has a stage. The main bar room can also accommodate a singer, as they did the first night I was there. For the food, we had the garlic shrimp to start, then a cowboy burger and fried chicken and substituted the potato with fries. The garlic shrimp was solid. Not as good as you would get at a place that does rodizio or a Spanish/Portuguese spot, but it scratched the itch. The friend chicken had a perfect consistency and the gravy was tasty. The fries were my kind of fries, and were perfectly cooked and tasty. I added salt only because that's my thing, not because they lacked flavor. They don't season them with anything fancy, it's just the right size and cooked just the right amount of time. I don't do ketchup on my fries, but if you are the kind of person that does, you can be rest assured they won't turn into a mushy mess, so have at it! The bartenders are really nice, and anyone I ever sat next to at the bar was a character (in a good way). They recognize you if you've been there more than once, which is always pleasant. True rating 2 1/2 stars. Rustic place with a dive bar as you enter and a decent size dining room next to it. The dining room has a step up stage. Last night they had a solo performer who obviously knew the locals that frequent the place. We walked in at 6pm and were greeted by a cute, friendly bartender. Limited beer choices (5 beers on tap). Nothing exciting on the beer choices so I opted for a yuengling. Beer was cold and fresh. We ordered steak quesadilla and garlic shrimp. It took exactly 1 hour to get our food! The bartender who was serving us was nice enough but not experienced enough to keep us informed about the long delay. The shrimp was just OK, the quesadilla was pretty good. Let's start this review by going over what it used to be...This new venture has taken over one of the long standing now defunct Italian establishments in Bayonne "Amici's." It has now been taken in a slightly new direction...the Italian still presents itself in their menu...but it has gone to a unique fusion theme with western. That is right ladies and gentleman...we have an Italian-Western joint?!? The problem is it isn't quite good at either of them. The burger that I had was quite possibly the worst I have had in a full service restaurant. "The Cowboy Burger" seemed like the way to go in a western place...the hockey puck that they served me was devoid of any flavor whatsoever. With seemingly zero seasoning added to the paddy...it overcompensated with too much BBQ sauce and a pile of crisp onion thins. The onion thins were actually the best part of the burger. I had to take off the top portion of the bun because it was either so stale, or so toasted that I could barely bite into the burger. I am not exaggerating about the bun...but it was barely edible. The Italian was slightly better but I would not even place it in the top ten in town for quality or value. The redeeming quality is the bar...friendly bartenders and good prices on light beer. Craft options are lacking...but were not expected. The bar deserves a good review, the venue is slightly new so hopefully the ceiling on quality will raise when it concerns the food. read more

It's been years since I last went to what was Amici's, so I figured this would be a chance to taste the changes. I was there to try the burgers with a large group of friends, and I brought my daughter and a buddy with me. We started with an order of calamari, which I liked. The sauce had a bit of a nice bite to it. My daughter was not in the mood for a burger so she had the penne vodka, her favorite go-to dish at most places. She loved it and brought some of it home. My friend had lasagna and it was smothered in a delicious meat sauce. I had a bite and it was very good. I know she brought home half because it was a generous serving. Now on to the burgers: BURGER: I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The burger was a good size. It was a decently juicy burger. I think I would have liked a tad more seasoning in the burger. They got the cooking time right, it was nicely medium rare. BUN: This was the weirdest brioche bun and really was a downer for most of my friends who were ordering burgers. It was kind of flat and grilled, and if you've ever been on a diet it had the mediocre consistency of a diet roll. I've had gluten-free rolls hold up better than this one did. Service was up and down. Everyone was extremely pleasant but there were times when we couldn't find the server. The new decor is nice, although I was surprised they left up the old Bayonne Bridge mural. I know everyone is wedded to the bridge, but that mural is getting long in the tooth. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with Buttero. I had the fried chicken and substituted the potatoes for mac and cheese, the fried chicken was perfectly crispy and Oh man the mac and cheese was amazing! The drinks are really good too, I had the Buttero and it was very tasty. The waiter that we had was the same waiter from when it was Amicis and he is one of the sweetest waiters, I'm really happy he stuck around for the change. The menu is about half American food and half Italian American, so there's a nice variety to choose from. Prices are comparable to the casual dining chains but the food tastes MUCH fresher. The coconut chicken, either alone as an appetizer or on the salad is a stand-out dish. Burgers are huge and delicious. Margaritas are always good, and best of all they play country music and have country line dancing here sometimes. read more

Decided to go here with a friend after work and we were very impressed! I'm told it was the "old Amici's." I think the happy hour was from 4-7pm $3 drafts. From 4-6pm they offered buy one app, get the other app for free. We ordered the chicken fingers and fries in thai chili sauce (holy crap it was delicious!!!!) and the fried calamari (realllyyyyy good!!). Perfect happy hour when your job stresses you out and you need a few beers and some food. read more

Southern fried chicken is not what they serve and call that. Also, nachos said pico and sour cream on the side but they came with it all over them. Waste of time to go here. I ordered a Stella and got a plastic cup but later saw someone get the correct glass. This is unacceptable and should be addressed but management clearly could care less. read more

Went here twice in the past week, both times for dinner. The first time was on a Sunday, bar area was very busy & loud, but not too bad. The second time on a Monday night, much quieter although they did have music BLARING in the bar when we arrived that we had to ask them to turn down (which they did). It appeared that a poker tournament was going on in the banquet room, with many men & gaming tables visible. So, while the décor has been updated since the name changed from Amici's to Buttero, some things haven't gotten any better & in fact some have gotten worse. The service is severely lacking - both times things took a very long time, servers were few & far between & food was 50/50. Both times my dining partners ordered burgers & said they were very good. I ordered chicken fried shrimp the first time, which came with no sauce (not cocktail, tartar, anything) & I had to ask for some. The second time I had calamari which severely overcooked so it was hard instead of soft. Ceasar salad was fine, but overall nothing impressive. The first time though they served my friend a Blue Moon beer with NO ORANGE - I think every single bartender knows that it is supposed to be served with an orange slice! Other than that, cute décor ideas - condiments & silverware is in metal buckets on each table, tables are covered with brown kraft paper, regular drinks are served in mason jars, & walls have wood on them mixed with the brick & lights hanging above. The final thing is that they seem to think they are operating two different places - the bar area is nice, but the other side of the restaurant is old, decrepit, & awful looking. It still has troweled on cement on part of the walls & the hideous mural of the Bayonne Bridge. They really need to get a cohesive overhaul done for both rooms, upgrade the servers, improve the food, and teach the bartenders how drinks should be served! read more

A good bar with food, but there is a RACIST bartender there called Lindsay - I suggest folks should be very mindful of her behavior. Seems to me she was working while intoxicated also or under a mental depression. The bar was not clean and also had a bad odor. read more

4 stars because I really want this place to work out! I came here on a Saturday afternoon, ordered an old fashioned. They didn't know how to make it. I ask for rye whiskey rocks, any brand. They looked around for a while and can't figure it out. Ordered Jameson rocks and beer. And they still screw that up! Beer coming out of the draft was all foam, and they let the beer sit to settle, and pour, and settle, and poor, and settle.... 10 mins later i got my beer. All flat and not cold.... I really hope this place gets it together! Hire some experience bartender, get the PSI on the beer line calibrated. Wishing them all the luck they need! read more

I've dined at Buttero plenty of times that I've lost count. I've also gone out for a late night drink. The service, the drinks, and the bar itself was excellent. Burgers are amazing my favorite is the breakfast burger. My wife had her bridal shower there and everyone was commenting on how nice the day was and how great the food and service was. Tried this place on a someones recommendation(they are no longer my friend) Where to start walked in to what looked like the cast from deliverance playing cards in the middle of the Restaurant the look we got was one of annoyance for being there We sat down looked at the Menu someone had taken a Black Sharpie to the Menu item that wasn't available that evening when I picked up the Menu it had food or possibly someones DNA on it.Nasty! We then ordered two drinks but the sever had to ask us to repeat ourselves because she couldn't hear us over the awful country music that was playing, my guess the crew from deliverance were getting motivated to go back into the mountains I noticed another large dining room I asked the server if we could sit in there we were told it was closed I did notice a large Projection screen with the cartoon network on,the whole experience was surreal I recommend if you do go here tell someone your going in the event your never seen again Don't be that guy who's squealing like a pig read more
