We took the Celebrity Edge on an 8 day Alaska cruise. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. A couple of the wait staff have a little "Schtick" the do that's funny the first day but after 7 days it's no longer funny. I've seen passengers move to avoid hearing yet another time. Change it up!! The food in the Oceanview buffet is pretty good for a cruise ship buffet. It can be very crowded and challenging to find a table. Their Signature restaurants are marginal and we had to send food back several times. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Their Luminae restaurant is phenomenal, but can only be accessed by their elite passengers. The food is far superior than other restaurants on board. One server asked us several times to rate him a 10 in the survey. The shows were all great and the various games/events were fun. Great experience. Ketchikan's oyster farm and Skagway's gold panning and sled dog tours (led by the knowledgeable Therese) were educational and fun, while Juneau's whale watching fell short. Dining was mostly enjoyable, especially the daily variety at the Ocean View Café and a standout meal at Finn's in Victoria, BC. The Celebrity Edge's outstanding staff -- Ita, Ladyle, Sean, Ahmad, and Elise -- made the trip truly memorable. ________________________________________ We recently sailed on Celebrity Cruise Line's 7-Night Alaska Dawes Glacier Cruise aboard the Celebrity Edge (August 15-22, 2025). It was our first time experiencing Alaska by cruise, and we were excited to see the ports, excursions, dining, and overall service the ship had to offer. What follows is our honest review of the highlights -- and a few disappointments -- from both onboard and ashore. ________________________________________ Excursions In addition to time onboard, we went on three excursions: Ketchikan's Small Group: Coastal Drive, Wildlife Cruise and Oyster Farm with Tasting, Juneau's Whale Watching Adventure and Salmon Bake, and Skagway's Gold Fever, Alaskan Sled Dogs and Exclusive Scenic Railway. The oyster farm in Ketchikan was educational and fascinating -- we learned a lot about the process, and the fresh oysters provided at the tasting were wonderful. So good, in fact, we purchased more! Juneau's whale watching adventure, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. The boat had a strong diesel smell and was quite loud, which made the ride less enjoyable. We were told boats could approach whales as close as 100 yards, but the closest we got was about 200 yards. Photos and videos show tiny specks of whales in the distance rather than the impressive views we hoped for. While wildlife viewing is unpredictable, we could have overlooked the noise if we'd seen whales up close, but since we didn't, the outing was more disappointing than rewarding. The Salmon Bake afterward was okay, but not particularly memorable. Skagway was a highlight. Panning for gold was educational and fun -- we came away with about $45 worth! The Gold Rush Dog Tours were a delight. Our guide, Therese, shared fascinating information about the sled dogs and the Iditarod races she and Peter had run with them. We especially enjoyed holding the puppies and watching a sled run. The only thing that would have made it better was taking a short sled ride ourselves. The exclusive scenic railway offered breathtaking views and was just the right length. Perfect weather made our time in Skagway even more enjoyable. ________________________________________ Dining Not everything onboard was enjoyable. We had high hopes for Fine Cuts Steak House, but hubby's experience was disappointing. The 59-day dry-aged NY Strip he ordered seemed frozen and thawed repeatedly. Supposed to be medium rare, it arrived grey with a spoiled taste, forcing him to spit it out. I tasted it too, and did not think it was anywhere near acceptable. When they brought a replacement filet, the server casually mentioned the original steak had been on the ship for over 30 days -- hardly reassuring. His asparagus was stringy and undercooked. Spinach and filet mignon were acceptable, but nothing memorable. It's easily one of the worst steaks he's ever had. All other dining experiences onboard were pleasant. We especially enjoyed the variety offered daily at the Ocean View Café. The fresh options and rotating selections made it easy to find something different at every meal, and it was a highlight of our onboard dining. We also had a wonderful off-ship dining experience at Finn's in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They offered excellent oysters and drinks, and the Dungeness crab was superb. Our waitress, Jo, had a beautiful smile and was an excellent, attentive server, making the meal even more enjoyable. ________________________________________ Staff Highlights Certain on-board staff members truly made the trip more enjoyable: * Ita, in the Ocean View Café, was a ray of sunshine each morning with her cheerful "good morning! good morning!" * Ladyle, Assistant Waitress in the Ocean View Café, brought joy with her singing coffee song -- such a fun touch. * Sean, the Senior Captain's Club Concierge, remembered our names and faces, always being pleasant and helpful. * Ahmad, our Room Concierge, kept our room in excellent shape and was always responsive. * Elise, the Activity Host, made every activity fun and engaging, remembering our names after hearing them just once. Each time I called everything went down positively without a hitch: Called to change ships, dates and embarkation port - no problem. Called to upgrade my drink package to "premium" - no problem. Called to add their transportation services from the airport to the port (and back) - no problem. During one of these conversations the call taker asked a few questions of me/us I had not thought of, such as celebrating anything special to be recognized and any need for distilled water for a c-pap machine to be delivered to the cabin. I found this to be very proactive. I can not complain about the customer service at Celebrity whatsoever. Two thumbs up! read more

Review for the "Celebrity Eclipse" ship: Taking a cruise never really crossed my mind. Late Spring we saw a commercial for a cruise, it piqued our interest and we looked into it for a summer vacation. We worked in conjunction with AAA on rates, dates and package deals etc. Be sure to do your own homework too for packages that fits your needs & wants. What it mostly comes down to is...do you want a drink package while you are cruising? You can always add stuff later if you want. We found a package directly on the Celebrity Cruise site, cross checked to see if AAA could get a better rate or deal, then we ended up booking through AAA but on a package that we found, I should've gotten a 30% commission. Our trip didn't depart and return in Seattle, we decided to embark and disembark in Vancouver B.C instead. We wanted to go to Vancouver BC for a day before & after we left and returned from our cruise. We took the train from Seattle to Vancouver B.C. 7 day Alaska cruise booked. 7 nights, 4 ports: (destinations: Vancouver B.C to Inside Passage(at sea) to Icy Straight Point to Hubbard Glacier to Juneau to Ketchikan to Inside Passage(at sea) back to Vancouver B.C). You will get an email with instructions on when and where to check-in for your cruise, the check-in process, dropping off luggage was pretty easy & straightforward, a lot of people were checking in at the same time, the staff and lines are pretty organized with info on where to go, security checks were detailed where they take a photo of your face for your security profile, we made it through without incident. Staff was very welcoming, provided wine, mimosas, and non-alcoholic drinks as you embark. They will let you know when you can check in to your room, it will take some time for you to get your luggage, so just chill. Our stateroom was the one with your own personal balcony, it was nice but small, bed was actually quite comfy and I slept like a baby each night. Bathroom is small, electric outlets are limited, you will have to Tetris your stuff on the counter and the cabinet space. I didn't watch t.v very much but they had a good amount of the regular and movie channels and the Celebrity Cruise channel for daily reminders. WiFi was a little tricky at first, we were only allowed 2 devices per WiFi service, so if you have a work phone or laptop, you will need to log off from one device and log back in with the other device. Our steward Marvin was awesome....super nice, friendly guy, he did an awesome job and deserves a Christmas bonus! A lot of day & night activities they have lined up daily whether you do them or not, a daily newsletter will be delivered to your room each day. If you want to relax, you can definitely do that. They have a nice gym if you want to stay lean & mean, but who wants to exercise on a vacation? An outside small basketball court to take it hard in the paint to teenagers, mini soccer goal, small arcade for the younger or older ones, ping pong tables, outside bocce, running/walking track that goes around the topside of the ship. Main attraction is the pool area, huge pool with hot tubs, there's also an indoor pool as well with more hot tubs to meet strangers and be IG followers. The pool area is fun, all kinds of activities for the family, kids, adults, all that. There's so much I am forgetting to mention. The important stuff....the food!!! There's a lot of spots to eat but the Oceanview Cafe is the main cafeteria to eat your multiple meals a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was fine for us, we had no issues with the food but some may think it's mediocre. All kinds of selections from continental fare, ethnic and international foods, there is a lot to choose from. Desserts are a hit, so try to control yourself. It's not the same food each day, there are featured themes, but there are some staples that don't change. We only did a couple of the fancy featured restaurants, it was very good, be sure to dress appropriately and make a reservation. You will not go hungry, if you do, it's your fault! When you get to the ports of call, your day is your own, they will let you know when you have to be back on board. If you do your homework you can pre-book some outside excursions like we did. While in Juneau, one of our excursions was cancelled due to weather, unfortunately we couldn't do the helicopter ride to a glacier and go dog sledding. :( Instead we went rafting down a river. If you a last minute type of person, you can book all your off ship excursions while on the cruise. A few things to be aware of: -Do your research for pricing -ALL transactions are done through your room card, no need for cash or credit cards. But please tip your room steward. -IMO: Stateroom with balcony is the smallest room I would go for, cant imagine anything smaller for 2 people. -Check your daily newsletter -Get a good understanding of on-board credit -Definitely do excursions - Drink package or not? Please do not give Celebrity Cruise line Alaska trip a second notice. After incidental tragedies that occurred, I let the cruise line know that my family and I will not be able to travel. Without any exception, cruise line decided to keep thousands of dollars almost totaling to $15,000.00. I personally had to help them come up with ways to recoup the money which let to remainder of almost $10,000.00. They are modern day thieves. They could care less about anyone that could have a death in the family, loss of job, ill health. Please forget about discussing any case with Athena Pascal and Lauren Hodges CEO , they will tell you "they are not the ones to talk to, it may be with another party. " The other party will tell you it is the cruise line so talk with them, ie: Athena Pascal and Lauren Hodges. They are very heartless, not even future travel/voucher. Keep in mind, My discussions / relations towards them were professional/respectful. Please do not make the mistake of booking unless you are very sure you could waste $15,000.00 and this would not be concerning to you if you lost it. I think the government should look into these cruise lines especially those that are managed by Lauren Hodges and Athena Pascal, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Edge cruise lines. Zero stars read more

I tried transferring a reservation I could no longer attend for an emergency. It was the worst customer experience I have ever experience. I just wanted to move my date to another date; Celebrity would not let me because it was after the Final pay by date -- I sat with customer service going back and forth to the "resolutions department" for 1 hr and 30 minutes to be told they could only give me 25% of my 6K back. It is a complete joke! I will never sail with Celebrity again! RUN to Norwegian or Royal! This would have been my second cruise with Celebrity and the first was nothing to brag about. First cruise, not my last | Beautiful interior | Excellent service $$ - $$$ My husband and I went with my parents to Alaska on board this 7-day cruise. We're both really active people -- climbing, backpacking, hiking, paddle sports, etc. -- so the thought of going on a cruise was a total turn off to us. However, going on this trip changed our minds! We would love to do a cruise again, but only with Celebrity Cruises in the future :) I have nothing to compare it to, but my family have been on several cruises before with different ships and they said this is by far the best one they've done. Balcony stateroom on deck 9 -- great! Buffet and restaurant food and menu variety -- great! Service -- great! Clean and always stocked with items -- great! Amenities (pool, indoor pool, spa, gym, shopping, casino) -- great! Port excursions -- great! (book early because some are sold out) Entertainment and daily activities -- great! On board credit $150 -- great! There's SO much to say about this, but I'll keep it short and to the point: From boarding to transferring off the ship at the end of our trip, it was smooth and stress free. Every waiter/worker was incredibly friendly and in great spirits. The captain and his crew are so friendly too! Captain Tasos was hilarious, funny guy. Formal night was fun. *Tip: I suggest using your on board credit for onshore excursions because those are pricey. I wouldn't do any excursions that are all food-centered because you can eat all you want on the ship. Also, the hiking-type of activities are too pricey to enjoy a walk in the woods, in my opinion. So, you can take a look around each location on your own, but I think the activities well worth the money is dog sledding on a glacier, sea kayaking, and/or whale watching. When you're in Victoria, BC, pay for a taxi ($10 each way) instead of a shuttle. read more

Alaska Cruise on the Celebrity Solstice - 7 Days (From Seattle, WA) It took us a while to take our first cruise-did not think it was our thing. First of all, Alaska was the perfect destination. We have gone to many tropical places for vacations, so the cool weather was a welcome change. There are so many cruises to islands, but this was the perfect trip to go to (location and length) since we were not sure we would like cruises. We hope to go on an Asian cruise within the next couple of years (keeping fingers crossed). The Celebrity Solstice was amazing. We were in AquaClass (priced about the same as Concierge Class, but you get your own dining area that is always open for breakfast and dinner. You can use any restaurant on the ship except for the Suite Class.) You have unlimited access to the Spa area minus the fees for massages and facials. The eating area (Blu Restaurant) was outstanding in terms of the food, service and ambiance. Only those in AquaClass can go this beautiful dining area-there is never a line since the time intervals are generous (like 2-3 hours). What was super incredible was the level of service one receives on this ship, no matter where you stay on the ship! When it comes to excursions, we were able to cut the line (which is awesome on those days you forget to set the alarm....) You are always assigned the same room attendees and it is so amazing how the servers in the restaurant remember your name each meal (and also your favorite drink and coffee). What kind of sucks is that you would think drinks are included. You get standard stuff free, but if you want good coffee and premium drinks, I would definitely pay for the premium drink package. We don't drink alcohol (only once in a while), but we love good coffee. We bought the package where you can get bottled water, all types of coffees including lattes and cappuccinos, smoothies, fresh juices. There are so many things to do on the ship, but I highly recommend that you research the Alaska excursions. The one I must recommend is Dog Sledding (Mushing). You fly from the Juneau airport to the Mendenhall Glaciers. You get to actually dog sled with trained dogs and their musher (is that a word?) Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island was pretty amazing- must do the high tea. A 3 star, because as I found out, cruising is just not my "thang". I can take it off my bucket list, just having cruised from 7/11-7/18/14. Now, nothing at all against Celebrity. The ship was unbelievable, kept extremely clean, and the service from all was unreal. Truly good hires, with a tremendous sacrifice of family for a 6 month term. But, let's face facts - these types of cruises are for our elderly. Port towns, there's not a lot to them, very touristy. Plus, why does one mainly take an Alaskan cruise, to see glaciers in water, massive, and cracklin'? Well, the ship was so large that it could only go to a certain point, and turnaround. The largest we saw was 10x20 feet. Personally, I'd much rather spend a week in Paris, walk the town, exploring the museums, buying a cheap (but delicious) bottle of wine, eating in quaint cafes, and taking a train trip for the day to Versailles. But, sigh, maybe that's just me. Positives: ------------ 1. Relaxed - by the second day, wonderfully relaxed. This was great, since I had 5 days to go. 2. Cabin - bigger than I expected, really nice (of course, made better with a balcony) 3. Food - available 24/7 (need I say more) 4. Lots of Live Music & Entertainment 5. Specialty acts that were a standout - of the juggler (Mike Price), magician (David Bishop), hula hoop girl, ballerina & partner 6. Specialty dining - about 6 places available to give a unique dining experience. Each beautiful in décor. 7. Art auction - one of the highlights of my trip. Extremely fun (4 pieces later). 8. Movies - not first run, but recently on DVD, shown in a small theater. Really enjoyed. 9. Sweet service by all Not great, but not bad: --------------------------- 1. Formal dining (available each night) - nice service and experience, but not great food. 2. The dancers and singers are the same each night. Very impressive versatility, and in the number of acts and numbers, but yawn. Need to mix it up. Would like to also have jazz on piano, or a 3 piece trio. Negatives: ------------- 1. Small glaciers - probably due to the largeness of the ship didn't allow us to pass amongst the broken off pieces. We didn't see any glaciers of real magnitude in the sea, and only one mountain one. 2. The port towns. 99% zero interest. Very touristy. 3. 24/7 food is a 2.0-3.5 star at best, but not to my liking with the occasional wow. 4. $ - everything seems like an up-sell once aboard (the beverage package, other cruises, hot glass, excursions) Port Cities Summarized: ----------------------------- KETCHIKAN - 3 blocks, double-wide, touristy. A few restaurants, tons of jewelery shops, Alaskan art, and Alaskan chachkis. Didn't like this town much. JUNEAU - a 5.25 hour excursion (Whale watching, plus) took 6.5 hours not leaving any time to see Juneau. Poopie. SKAGWAY - Cute, small town, made for the ships and tourism. Looks like a movie set out of the Midwest. Small bus excursion took me the heck out of this town for 2 hours, seeing majestic mountains and waterfalls. Still. very touristy. VICTORIA - worthy. Beautiful small town, lots of pubs and eateries, a standout hotel and parliament building, gardens, all-the-while next to the water. read more

My sister and I took the 7 day Alaska cruise on Celebrity Solstice July 5-12 2019. We thoroughly enjoyed our Experience. The room was much bigger than expected and very clean. Our room steward Cornel was the best in every way. Captain Tasos was not only hilarious, he is the youngest captain in the Celebrity fleet. Captain Tasos took us right up to the Dawes glacier and then did a complete 360 degree turn in that small fjord to make sure everyone on the ship got a perfect view of the glacier. The entertainment was amazing. I highly recommend the production of "Rock City" it was incredible, and fun. They had 2 guest speakers on board Naturalist Brent Nixon, and his wife historian Mary Amanda Fairchild. They both gave 1 hour seminars on various subjects like Whales, Bears, and bald eagles, along with the history of each port we visited. They are both very passionate about their work, and very entertaining to watch. Must see if you ever find them on your next cruise. All of the staff was pleasant and helpful. They are very diligent about hand sanitizer at every turn. The only negative I can say is regarding the food. The food in both the Grand Epernay, and Oceanview Cafe was mediocre at best. I was onboard the Celebrity Infinity in 2011 on one of its last voyages before the ship was overhauled and updated. Although due for a makeover, the ship was still extremely clean and seaworthy. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the ship was in. Officially, Celebrity Cruises is owned by Royal Caribbean but personally the service aboard Celebrity seems better. You actually have the opportunity to meet and chat with all your attendants, from the chef all the way down to the people who clean your room. Of course, the Royal Caribbean ships are definitely newer and fancier, but you do get what you pay for! Food: It always seem to me that cruise liners are in constant competition to see whose dining options for dinner can be more pretentious than the other liner's. The Trellis restaurant on the Infinity offers a full four-course meal every night of the voyage if you prefer to avoid the casual fare food. This formal dining venue(where all formal dining onboard occurs) has a menu that changes daily, from wine straight to the desserts. I rate the Trellis restaraunt food as just above Todai seafood buffet. The entrees are mostly meat options, and tends to run to rich, heavy sauces and with occasionally heavy seasoning. Do NOT, and I repeat, do NOT bother with the SS United States restaurant. This is basically the Trellis restaurant with the same menu written in French legalese terms. So you'd be paying for the same food you get at Trellis in a virtually identical(but quieter) setting. For all other meals, or if you absolutely hate formal dining of any kind(me, mostly because it means I can't wear some sloppy t-shirt and shorts) the ship provides a large buffet where it more or less offers the same food on a day-to-day basis. By the time my 7day cruise was over, I was sick to death of omelettes, bacon, cereal etc. offered for breakfast. That's not to say the food wasn't bad-for breakfast they had unlimited smoked salmon(love love LOVE smoked salmon!) and pickled herring-but the food at the buffet definitely wasn't of great quality. Example: for dinner, there's a sushi bar...and the sushi resembles like some of the pre-packaged sushi you buy at the local market. To give credit, the food available for breakfast and lunch at the buffet is much better than the offerings at dinner. Other than the lack of day-to-day variation, the selection and overall quality is good. Activities: Cruises tend to appeal to the more mature audiences, and the activities reflect that. Overall, they were quite enjoyable. Activities I recall being offered: Watercolour painting, ballroom dancing(waltz, salsa, and cha-cha), art seminar, naturalist Brent Nixon, broadway show production, movies, and glimpses into the running for the ship from recycling all the way to a look into the kitchens. As you might notice, few activities are geared toward children...but are excellent in appealing to a variety of interests. Our first cruise was great, but the second really paled. I had an incident involving metal signage for the ship spa. My shirt was sliced open and could have easily been my arm. It tore the letter off the sign. I completed an incident report and was horrified to find they repaired the sign with no modification to the razor sharp edges that nearly harmed me. If a future guest is harmed, hopefully they will have recourse since I documented the threat but Celebrity blew it off. read more

My fiance and I went on the Celebrity Infinity cruise to Alaska on the weekend of Memorial Day in 2011. The trip was 7 days which looped around Ketchikan, Juneau, Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway and Victoria. It was my first cruise and everything was perfect. All the crews were super friendly and we thought the food was amazing. Our server (Arman) at the dinner table was very professional. Never experienced such service before. The ship offered variety of fun activities throughout the day so I was never bored. We had Brent Nixon on board who spoke about the wild life in Alaska. We received excellent service not only by our cabin stewards but from everyone we came in contact with. Very pleasant, polite and attended our every needs. this is for the Alaska cruise on Celebrity Solstice. positives: clean. bathrooms are always kept very clean and free of odor. thanks to frequent staff attention and good plumbing. it's a bit of an inconvenience to close the toilet seat in order to flush it because the button was behind the lid but the benefit is less spraying and I can see how this could help reduce odor. shows are top notch. Jessica Jane was a wonderful magician/illusionist, the Amade acrobat show had serious talents. Buffet good selections, the dining room Epinay overall good. However for an Alaska cruise, they lack good seafood. They had a haddock dish that was so dry and the Coating was soggy and thick. The salmon was a bit dry too but not too bad. otjer Dishes are good. I didn't see the need to use the specialty dining rooms bit if you're interested the fee is for a set menu and some items such as caviar is extra. we traveled on the concierge with a balcony and the view was beautiful. there's luminaire restaurant reserved for select class that we couldn't go to so can't comment. the usual dancing with 70 80 music that was enjoyed by all ages. our room was cleaned twice a day but for a mandatory tip charged almost $19/day per guest it should be good. I think staff generally reflect how well they are treated and are very nice. with the exception of customer service that I called before the cruise, some guy name Paulo told me the specialty restaurant charge was a cover charge that didn't include food. but that's a different matter for me to take up with corporate management, fitness room is nice. Big negative: the pools. there are three, twon are tiny and shallow designed for kids I suppose. the bigger indoors pool not much better since they have steps that take up 2/3 of the pool so if you want to swim laps don't bother. it's for sitting around only. you get a sample of Alaska, the helicopter excursion to mendenhall glaciers is pricy but a unique experience. that was the only excursion we went on. basically for a cruise it's pretty good but for me, once every three years is probably enough. you just eat and walk around and eat some more. read more

Celebrity and RCI Completely dropped the ball on booking adjoining rooms for us. We have 6 year old and 13 year with us and we HAVE TO HAVE Adjoining rooms. We booked this trip 18 months ago for a once in a lifetime cruise. Now RCI and Celebrity could care less and stated there are no rooms available, which is completely untrue because we were solicited to upgrade to different rooms 2 days ago . My wife and I enjoyed a week aboard the Celebrity Solstice from June 7th to the 14th, and had a wonderful time. Not our first cruise and, Lord willing, not our last, but our cabin was very comfortable, dinners at sea were the equal of most restaurants that have deserved 4-5 stars in my reviews, and we had fun. It helps to be organized and arrange your activities in advance. We enjoyed zip-lining in Ketchikan, a guided photo day in Juneau through Gastineau Guided Tours that led us to the Mendenhall Glacier in the morning and to whale-watching in the afternoon, and we enjoyed excellent photo opportunities in Skagway with a trip on the White Pass and Yukon Railway. I don't like shooting photos through window glass, so I remained between the cars during the trip and the scenery was impressive, grand. I was rewarded with photos and memories I will treasure. We were favored with warm, sunny weather - a marvel in itself since southeastern Alaska gets rain and overcast for 243-246 days a year. The vessel itself is modern, stable, well organized. While relaxing, one is not likely to be bored because there are lectures, shows and entertainment for all interests. I enthusiastically recommend it. read more

We took our Alaska cruise on June 14,2013 on the Celebrity Solstice out of Seattle. I am 48 and not a frequent cruiser but this ship is one of the best. My son and I had a great time. The main restaurant dinner experience was superb and we had no reason to pay extra for the other restaurants. We had main courses ranging from rack of lamb, veal chop, braised short rib, sirloin steak, and salmon. Desserts were very good as well (creme brûlée and some other specialty desserts were great). The ship was never crowded as others have attested to and everything was easy to get to on the different decks. The stateroom was top of the line and I understand they were designed by women. I would take this stateroom over most hotel rooms I've stayed in. We had ample room to unpack all our clothes for seven days with more room to spare. The faucet and shower fixtures were both made by Grohe and excellent. We didn't find a staff member that wasn't courteous and they always went out of their way to please us. This continued onto the pier upon embarkation and debarkation. Although pricier than some of the other lines, if you can afford it, you will appreciate the professionalism of the staff and quality of the experience. Our Alaskan cruise in June had about 400 kids out of 3,000 total and was a nice mix of ages. read more

I've been on 5 cruises (Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, Oceana, and Holland America) and so far this has been the best! They have a Fun Factory (daycare), an arcade, a pool, solarium, a private pool for the kids, 14 restaurants, and more...we had a great time! Will definitely be back! read more

Celebrity Cruises - The Celebirty Solstice - Boat Tours Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This is our first experience of cruise, 5/23~5/30/2014. We had a group of 19 people celebrating 50th Year Senior High reunion. We chose Alaska line thought we might still have a chance to see Glacier, certainly a big disappointment. We took taxi from SEA ($48) reached Pier 91 (not 66). There was a long line of people waiting to be check-in. We arrived in the afternoon, avoiding a much longer line of people in the morning check-in (I heard that cost a few hours). Celebrity Solstice was a huge beautiful ship. We had an ocean view-room (8101) in front of the ship. Room was big and comfortable, a king-size bed, private bathroom, sofa, table, large sized closet, etc. Immediately we joined others for sit-down dinner (we already reserved for our group all through the trip, two tables). Menu was great and somewhat interesting: you can order as many as you want, like two main dishes or double desserts (I always had Crème Brulee AND ice cream). Beverage is extra; no one ordered that, no need. Actually, this main restaurant called Grand Epernay served breakfast and lunch too, but we often go to the top floor for buffet (The Oceanview Café and Grill), breakfast and lunch. Talking about the buffet, the ones I loved most was the stir-fried meat (beef, chicken or pork) and noodle (Thai style). In the morning, you can order Omelet. We would pass through Mast Grill and Bar before we reach the Oceanview, so, sometimes we just stopped by and got hamburgers and hotdogs, delicious. We also reserved a very nice meeting room for our meeting/talks. Very nice room for get-together! We went to the nightly shows everyday, very enjoyable. The shows were different each time; the show on the "opening night" was the best. The Master of Ceremonies was funny. We only took a few excursion trips, the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery was a joke, should never be in the program. It is amazing that they made room service THREE times a day! Everybody was friendly, smiling at you, saying greetings and very polite. The management team must do a very good job. When we departed, we took taxi($16) to downtown Seattle after a VERY LONG wait at the pier. read more

We cruised on the Celebrity Solstice Sept 5-12, 2014 to Alaska. The ship is beautiful and modern, and was very clean. We were, however, very disappointed overall with our cruise. The beds are hard...not soft and plush like Carnival. Worse than a hotel room bed. I guess we were spoiled having taken a Carnival cruise prior to this one. The food in the main dining room (Grand Epernay) was fantastic, but the portions were very small. The food in the buffet (Oceanview buffet) was bland, boring and the selection was terrible. Breakfast was the same every single day. The dessert selection was strange....lots of small little bite size things that I would see at a chinese buffet. Seriously, I go on a cruise to EAT, and we found ourselves not looking forward to the meals very much. Service - Our housekeeping team was very nice, as well as the wait staff at the coffee shop (Cafe' Bacio). All the other staff were stiff and sometimes outright rude. We went to the Molecular Bar and literally sat there for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. We expressed our displeasure and walked away. In the buffet, the waiters were hard to find, and didn't seem to want to wait on us. Many times we had to flag them down. The most disappointing thing was our stateroom. We booked a Veranda suite with a balcony. We were on deck 6, and we found out that all the balconies on deck 6 are obstructed by lifeboats! We complained to guest relations, and they said they would try to reassign us. They were not able to, so they gave us $100 onboard credit. I didn't think that was enough to compensate. We paid the same price as everyone else for a balcony. Celebrity should not be charging the same rate for the Veranda suites on deck 6 as they do for the other decks. We will not cruise with Celebrity again. Overall the ship experience was not good. Had it not been for the absolute tremendous scenery in Alaska, we would have probably asked for our $$ back. read more

Constant pressure to buy this or upgrade that. Food looked good but very bland. Even at the premier restaurants. Even at the stops they try to "steer" you to certain shops. Top notch prices for a room with a bed harder than the floor. Ad in we both got sick as hell. Not sea sick but two week long flu like bug. I never get sick. And being a bit of a germaphobe i wouldn't grab the handrails anywhere but used my wrist on them to balance. I got the nastiest staff infection from this. ALASKA is amazing. Fly there and drive around. You'll save a ton of money and have a much better time. read more

Celebrity Solstice is a beautiful ship! This is our second cruise on Celebrity and it has become our cruise line of choice. Cabin space, including storage is excellent. The bathroom was large enough to accommodate a standalone shower -with sliding doors. The sofa and desk were both welcome additions. Entertainment on the ship was outstanding; the best we've experienced on a cruise ship. The food was okay but nothing spectacular or particularly memorable. We've actually had better cuisine on Norwegian and even Carnival ships. The staff were all outstanding; very professional and accommodating. I can't say enough positive things about the staff - at all levels. The embarkation and disembarkation processes went smoothly. Unfortunately, Pier 91 in Seattle just wasn't built for cruise ship traffic. The traffic bottlenecks getting into and out of the loading zones can be a nightmare. This is no reflection at all on the cruise lines; it's the Port of Seattle's responsibility. The traffic mess is compounded when two ships are at Pier 91, both offloading 3,000 guests. The itinerary was Alaskan "meh". Ketchikan, Juneau, Tracy Arm, Skagway, Victoria BC. I'm just not a fan of Alaska; I could have stayed on the ship all week and been perfectly content! That said, for those unfamiliar with Alaska, this itinerary would make a good introduction. (Please take this review of Alaska with a grain of salt - I'm a warm weather guy, much more at home in the tropics.) So on a final note - two favorite lounges were the Ensemble Lounge and the Wine Bar. Both are upscale and tranquil hideouts! All in all, a very relaxing week on a beautiful, very comfortable ship. Celebrity Solstice is a beautiful ship for 7-night Alaska cruise. Highlights: ----------- 1. Spacious stateroom with balcony to enjoy morning breakfast with ice bergs. 2. Attentive service by diligent housekeeping (room cleaned twice a day), and exceptional dining room waiters. 3. Good dining menus that vary daily. Stick with waiter recommendations, some dishes distinctly better than others. 4. Impressive 270-degree observation deck to lounge with champagne while keeping lookout for whales, birds and wild life. 5. Overall well maintained ship with excellent facilities. Can improve: ------------- 6. Show quality mediocre, singers and dancers not strong. Aerial acrobats better. Best are the vocalist-comedian Sean o'shien (laugh too much at his own jokes) and marine biologist Brent Nixon (dynamic passionate speaker). Not enough good shows and performances each evening. 7. My wife and I had an amazing time on the Celebrity Infinity cruise to Alaska. The ship was extremely luxurious and comfortable. Many people think the Alaskan cruise is expensive, but for what you get it is a really good deal. Imagine a week in a five star resort with dinner at an upscale restaurant with decadent four course meals. Imagine complimentary musicals, comedy shows, and illusionist shows each day. Imagine visiting multiple vacation destinations within that week. Enjoy outdoor and indoor swimming pools, hot tubs, a fitness room, and much more. It is all a reality on the Celebrity Infinity, and you most certainly get what you pay for. Your days are packed with things to do and there is never a dull moment. I will never regret spending a week on the Celebrity Infinity, and am happy that we took many pictures and videos of our wonderful experience. read more

Just finished an Alaskan Celebrity Cruise on the Solstice from Seattle to Ketchikan to Juneau to Skagway and Victoria, BC. Great overall experience. The Celebrity excursions turned out to be our favorites, despite the fact they are a bit more expensive than the ones you can find around town. Our favorite was the adventure hike in Skagway with Alaskan Hiking. The tour guides were hilarious and kept everyone safe. The hike was a bit technically challenging but not strenuous. Definitely would recommend if you're up for burning off some of the buffet calories. Also the Mendenhall Glacier was fantastic but would recommend a rain jacket given you are hiking in a rainforest. The Butchart Gardens in Victoria were some of the best gardens I have seen in all of Europe or the east coast. The gardens are stunning alone but the garden also had live music which made the evening magical. In terms of daily living, the rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. The attendants are helpful and pleasant and clean your room multiple time a day. Their service was what I would expect for a cruise or a decent hotel. Now the downside of the cruise. The food was decent but not the best I have ever had. If you are looking for excellent quality food while you travel, I would recommend eating in the towns you stop at. The restaurants in every town were fantastic for fresh seafood. Back to the ship, the formal dining room's food had better quality (I would recommend the Filet Mignon and Escargot) and was overall decent. I would not recommend Silk Harvest, while the service is good, the food is very average in terms of American Asian food. It needed more depth and flavor, but still was fresh and warm. Lastly, I would prefer the ship not always be attempting to sell stuff. A lot of the conversations with staff, would turn into sales pitches. In terms of basic purchases, like WiFi, it was average speed but still very usable. Also, overall, the ship was clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful and the facilities nice. The food and frequent sales pitches would be the reason I would give this ship 4 instead of 5 stars. read more

I really can't describe what a great time, I had on Celebrity Infinity's Alaskan voyage on July 27th - August 3rd. Celebrity still has raised the bar with the other cruise ships. Our issues that we had were minuscule and Celebrity quickly resolved these issues. 1. Being Laundry 2. Time and Seating (which didn't matter as we were in Specialty restaurants most of the time) The Excursions were wonderful, the only non Celebrity excursion we went on was in Juneau and was horrific. (I wrote to there chamber and they got on it the next day :o) ) The staff was exceptional, and waited hand on foot on us, unlike RCCL the parent company we were never asked, pushed or prodded for a tip! I truly recommend going Aqua class, as you get to use the facility w/o charge. Alaska, what can I say, friendly people, Juneau I'll with hold judgement. Beautiful place, much nicer then the Caribbean. read more

As far as Alaska, I have to be honest and say we were underwhelmed. However, thanks to Celebrity Solstice the trip was great! This was my first cruise, but I have to tell you I doubt the competition can even provide a similar overall experience as you would have on this ship! Main Dining: Great! A lovely 4 days with my parents and girlfriend. We sailed on the Solstice and had a great time doing it. Beautiful ship, kept clean. Great food, across-the-board great waiters and servers. Small annoying things: -The WIFI connection was terrible. Took 30 min to watch a 5 minute video, and with poor quality. (This is after having paid $299.00 for a week's worth of wireless). -Only Tru TV and 1 sports channel plays on all the gym's cardio equipment TVs -The shows were cheesy. The singers/dancers/specialty acts were all great--the cast was great--but the shows themselves were uninspired. But look, the most important points: Beautiful views--the fjords in particular--lovely stops, great food, beautiful ship. Would definitely cruise with Celebrity again. read more

The Celebrity Millennium is an old run down piece of crap. On our previous cruises with other cruise lines, we and our friends always get contiguous balcony rooms and have the partitions removed or opened between the rooms so we have a continuous balcony, one of our favorite features on cruises. But on the Millennium, I was told the partitions are "permanent" which is BS because the partitions are held in place with only a few bolts. Needless to say, all 10 of us were extremely upset. Also, the outdoor bars are horrible...there are stools in front where people sit making it very difficult to order a drink, not unlike a bar at a busy night club. It would often take over 5 minutes to order a drink. All other cruise ships (I have been on) don't have stools in front of the bars so one can just walk up the bar and quickly & easily order a drink. The cruise was both my first and last with Celebrity. Holland America and Royal Caribbean are much better. read more

Wow. So, fair warning, I haven't been on the cruise yet. But I know there are many cruises that go to Alaska and there has to be one that doesn't include this many hours lost or headache even trying to get to the actual vacation. I just registered for an account on the website to try viewing shore excursions. Partner and I have been unable to simply text links back and forth to each other because it constantly asks for reservation number. Fine. I give. Send me junk mail. So I register...and try TWICE to link my reservation, and keep getting an error that I'm not linked to whatever Captain points and am prompted to call. Somehow, despite the error, the reservation got linked. But...somehow I also got LOCKED OUT OF MY ACCOUNT just by registering. So, while I wait the 20 minutes for it to unlock, I tried calling to ask for help..and there is no option on the prompt menu that fits my criteria, and hitting zero doesn't work, I can't talk to anybody to fix anything on this @#$@# website and give them more money. That leaves me with little else to do but rant about it here, right? Since I can't even talk to a person and tell them how amazingly bad their website is. Those rare moments we've been able to navigate the website through occasional errors and redundant prompts, the shore excursion list is still annoying. 71 options, some repeated multiple times on the same page, not easily filterable. I can't email them to my travel companions saying, "Hey! Check out this one, it looks cool." I can't bookmark it to return to. I can't filter and view all the zipline tours to narrow it down. It's a mess. I'm going to go on the cruise still, and hopefully enjoy myself, but if trying to make a trip happen is this painful, I won't be traveling Celebrity again. read more

This was our first cruise and we went on the infinity to Alaska. It was beautiful but that's not due to the cruise ship so I will just get into that *The food is just ok and that's generous. It's like bad wedding food all day long. * The ship was run down with mold and an odor noticeable on some decks * 3 times during the cruise I was billed for things I did not have and each time needing to have it corrected ran into other people who were also charged incorrectly. * Staff for the most part was good but the naturalist who explained part of the cruise was a John Muir want to be and could put the most addicted coke fiend to sleep with his voice. So.. if you feel like a "celebrity " on this cruise it will be more like Andy Dick then George Clooney! I'll try another line next time read more

The cruise itself was nice but lacked a lot of time at each port. My biggest criticism was that Everything was extra as they nickel and dimed you for all except the cruise.. The staff was wonderful !! Very accommodating, attentive and pleasant to deal with. They met our every need. The food was excellent and over the top. Ship is beautiful, very well appointed. Crew is very helpful & energetic. Need more activities for 30-45 age group. Boring on board "at sea days". Food is bad. Buffet @ grand Epenary need a lot of help. The udon noodles were the same at GE & Tuscan grill spaghetti noodles. So bad. Thick dense overworked pasta dough. Specialty dining was not special. Not worth the money you pay extra to eat. It's a nice change from the bad food but not worth the money. This was the Alaska cruise & we were so disappointed in general. Let me first say this was my second cruise First one was Princess 14 day to Mexico. This cruise was Celebrity 7 day to Alaska. We planned this cruise almost 2 years in advance. It is not cheap to cruise this ship. Over $6,000 for a Veranda room with a queen bed. The moment we boarded the ship we were bombarded by attendants trying to sell you more packages (food, drinks, excursions, etc). It was ridiculous and tacky. We had to wait 3 hours after boarding before we could go to our room. I went to our assigned room before hand and peaked in and it was cleaned and ready. We still waited as we did not want to get in trouble. Thinking about it, it is probably a way to keep people on deck so they can sell you more stuff. The room and bathroom itself was not bad but the bed was hard as a rock. We did not sleep much during the 7 days. After the second day the attendants selling you stuff calmed down a bit but you couldn't find one to get you a drink to save your life after that. We ended up having to go to the bar the entire cruise to get out own drinks. Being since they automatically charge you 20% gratuity for absolutely everything, I found this ridiculous. We had bought the upgraded drink package (not cheap) before boarding only to find the extras they offered that we were interested in they did not have. We did not drink much during this cruise. We also discovered you cannot get a drink for yourself and your husband without both being there. I couldn't even get an alcohol drink with a bottle water at the same time. With our upgraded package, it is free. I can walk up a minute later and get that bottled water though. I am assuming they do this because of the 20% gratuity charge for helping you. This way they can charge twice. If you want to hang out on the grass area, cabanas, go to the spa or other amenities you have to pay extra and it is not cheap. We went to a seminar to hear about what to see at the destinations only to find out it was a 90 minute sales pitch to get you to go to the jewelry stores at each port. The same stores are at every port and I later found out they are owned by the cruise lines. They did not talk about anything else about our stops. Half the people in the room got up and left after about 30 minutes when they realized what it was. The rest stayed to try and get a free gift. The ship has stores that sell their merchandise and jewelry but if you forgot anything like toothpaste, aspirin or need tums, you are out of luck. The food is terrible, hence the tums. Everything is tasteless. Great presentations but the meals taste precooked and frozen. I have never seen so many desserts that taste like nothing. I ended up having salads and fruit. On the bright side I lost weight. We went to watch the glass blowing (one of their big draws) and it was closed for repairs. Our attendant for our room was constantly walking in when we were in the room. Never heard him knock. Apparently you need to keep you sleeping sign on the door so they don't just walk in. The only time I spent any time on the Veranda was when we got to the Dawes Glaciers, you had to be up early. Otherwise, there was nothing to see. You are to far from shore to really see anything and it is foggy most of the time. The Captain of the ship was a ridiculously silly and giggling person who did not instill confidence in me. He woke us up at around 11pm by blasting into our room speaker to go outside. I immediately thought it was an emergency. He then said, to see the Northern Lights. I staggered out and saw nothing but fog. I laid wide awake the rest of the night. My husband got a staph infection on his wrist five days into the cruise and I came down sick my last day which does not bode well for the cleanliness of the ship. I could go on but you get the idea. My recommendation is to fly to Alaska. Alaska is beautiful and the excursions I booked on my own were great. Save your money and don't do the cruise. read more

I recently sailed on the Celebrity Infinity from San Diego to Miami thru the Panama Canal. Transiting the canal is always interesting and the lectures were excellent. I travelled in Aqua Class which allows you to eat in Blu one of the specialty restaurants. The other amenities advertised you either had to ask for or were non existant so basically you are paying a lot more money for not a lot more. Things can go wrong and a measure of a good company is how they handle those wrong things. While Celebrity asks for feed back on the ship and after the trip, it all seems to fall on deaf ears. I wrote the Hotel Director on the ship and to Celebrity in Miami. No one bothered to address my issues or to even respond. A bad business model. Holland America asks on board so that issues can be fixed immediately. Celebrity should take that page out of Hollands play book. read more
