I swear I've had more intelligent interactions with a toddler . the monthly price is a joke , seeing as they don't even have most important things they claim to offer (cold plunge and sauna). I was told they had those and I told myself okay this will be also helping your knee injury so forget how ridiculous the price is . they will say whatever to make the sale because i drove to every location in PHX and none had cold plunges. for $80 a month id rather go outside and tan by a pool. I'm from CA and the tanning salons out there were about max $30 max (with all the same perks) , this is arizona where 100 degrees is a regular day stop paying for this place and go outside, this business does not deserve your money. also one day while I was tanning in there it was really hot outside and my husband didn't want to sit in the car so she came and sat inside and the front girls were talking all sorts of crap about clients . just such a toxic and gross environment all over . read more

It's going to be triple digits this week in phoenix (it's only mid March mind you) and I was not ready for shorts! Definitely needed a boost of color, so I decided to get a spray tan to speed up the process. The salon was nicely air conditioned, not stuffy at all like some salons can be. The rooms are a good size to move around in. When I came in, Zoe was super welcoming and very thorough. She made sure I knew all the available options. She got me set up with a red light therapy session before my spray tan and that was a delightful little break. The red light therapy bed helps improve circulation, support skin health, collagen production, and can help with acne. It also gives a nice little vibration. It is supposed to help you feel revitalized and I can say it was really relaxing. The spray tanning booth was great because it was the kind that gives you step by step directions. Those, partnered with the helpful demo Zoe gave me, helped me feel like I wasn't going to have a Ross Geller situation (obligatory millennial Friends reference, for those who know). Luckily the spray itself wasn't freezing cold like it can be sometimes and the up and down dryer cycle blew warm air. The spray was nice and even and didn't leave streaks or big globs anywhere. The booth cleaned itself while I was drying off and getting dressed. Easy as could be. I will be back again to try the other beds since it was an overall good experience. read more

I want to start by saying the staff here is truly wonderful, genuinely kind, friendly, and always helpful. This isn't directed at them at all. My concern is with the condition of the location itself. The cleanliness feels below standard, and the spray tanning machine in particular has an odor that's honestly concerning, almost like something may be rotting. The ceiling also needs attention, it really detracts from the experience. I've visited other locations and they're noticeably more updated and better maintained. I hope this feedback can be shared with the owner, because I believe a proper renovation is overdue. With the new semiconductor facility bringing in high-tech professionals and more competition likely in the future, keeping this location modern and hygienic is essential. I've been going to Celebrity Tanning for a few years now on Carefree Hwy. The store is great, their tanning equipment is well maintained, it's always clean and the staff is very friendly. The store manager Kaylee is great; she has a really fun personality, remembers everyone's name and which bed/room we prefer to use. She's also really knowledgeable on tanning products and will make suggestions on which ones to use. Went in on the 14th and was told I wasn't able to use my membership for the month because it wasn't yet the 15th. I asked politely if we could move the renewal to the 1st or just slide me in since I'm going out of town and let it be my 1 for the month. Normally, the girls are incredibly friendly up front but Kaylee was (and has been before) incredibly rude. Just stared at me with a blank face, with absolutely zero care or focus on customer service. She was standing around staring at herself when I walked in and acted like I was bothering her, by even being there. I cancelled and went down the road. Put a call into their Corporate office. EDIT TO ADD: A rep reached out to me after I posted my review to tell me that the color goes on clear... that would have been so nice to know, especially since I told the receptionist I had never done this before. :( maybe I can try again. Ugh. What a waste of money. I looked at the reviews before going in and a lot of women were upset that the color doesn't really show up. So I asked for extra dark, came home, no color whatsoever. Started crying because it's just been a day, so I got in the shower to just wash it all off so I wouldn't leave streaks and literally no color came off of my body. The most disgusting facility, dust accumulating everywhere, floors are always sticky, and clearly have not been cleaned for some time. Top of the acrylic in the beds always have finger prints and lotion smear, so so gross. I don't see the point of the broken CD player that is just a huge eye sore of dust. This not ok, owner needs to get a hold of their business and train the girls how to clean. The walls have lotion splats all over, I'd avoid this place at all costs. I signed up for the $29/month for spray tanning PRE-Covid. This business closed for several months during Covid, but continued to charge me. That makes zero sense. How can you continue to charge me when I can even contact anyone at the business!!??? When it finally did open back up, the super rude girl at the desk told me to call corporate. They said the best they could do was to give me a credit toward "add-ons", so literally nothing. No refund, no acknowledgement of the unethical practices, just more frustration. We've recently moved to the area and was happy to know there was a location near our new home. We've maintained our membership and frequented locations near our previous home and work. This location is no where comparable to the quality of beds and salon esthetics as my previous experiences. This salon is extremely outdated and run down. Functions on both "luxury" beds don't work, beds are archaic, room 1 clearance is nothing short of claustrophobic and the floors reveal more than you care to know under the fluorescent lights. We would have no problem continuing paying premium pricing for our membership if they were offering a premium experience. Save your money if this location is your only option. Gross! read more

The girls at the desk are always super friendly and helpful. But that's it. My wife and I have had memberships for almost a year now and I've been looking at the same dirty spots, dust and stains since day 1. I shouldn't need to use Flonase before and after entering the building each time. I can't even count the amount of times that I've walked in to an empty store, the employee is sitting on her phone at the desk and then I have to wait for her to clean the bed before I can use it. Im sorry but when I stop on my way home from working, I don't want to wait for someone to finish a job that should have been done when the last person left! We love the pricing here but just recently starting going to the other salon in Tramonto- which is much more comfortable and clean. we will most likely be canceling our current membership at celebrity tanning. read more

I am very unhappy. I joined a membership in February, at the Carefree Highway location, for unlimited tanning. I paid well for this. Even after all this time, no one has ever greeted me with anything but, "Last name?" "First name?" (As a "Member", they still can't be bothered to recognize me. I know that sounds silly, but having always been client facing in my career, that's a basic rule. It's not that I feel superior in some way. I don't.) As the weather got warmer, I downgraded my membership in April. Now in June, I'm using my membership for the first time in over 30 days and I want to cancel if for the Summer. (I would have been back for unlimited in the colder months. Now, I will never be back.) I am now told that I can't cancel for another 30 days because I haven't made 2 payments yet. When I queried that, I was told just to go online and dispute it. (Excellent idea!) I really don't care about the $15 it will cost me, but I just hate feeling taken advantage of, and (as recommended) I will vent my frustration on every single social media forum and online rating site that I can find. I went in to join silver membership for $29.99. They told me the price had gone up to $39.99 but their site said $29.99 so they said they would make an exception. I went in and tanned. Upon finishing my tan they then said they would not honor the price and they would also not give me my membership money back. Good old bait and switch. The GM would not talk to me so I called corporate. They said they would honor the price. This weekend I went in and the place had two people in it. I asked to tan and was told there was a 30 min wait as there was only one out of 9 beds I could use. She suggested I go to another location and said that is what I get when I sign up for a low membership. They also do not take reservations. This business just wants my money. My mom surprised me with a tanning membership here! She told me to just walk in and say my name! I went in and friendly Brianna was behind the counter! She knew quickly who I was and clarified my name and I was put in the system super quick plus surprised with a bottle of tanning lotion with my name of it . She was super friendly and informative- explained what membership Was purchased and how to get the most out of it! I am done with coming here!!! Also created a yelp account just for this reason!!! Every single time there's always an issue!!! I am canceling my membership and going somewhere else. I don't know if they're giving expired cartridges or what! But I came out grey literally a corpse AND I AM A BRIDESMAID in a wedding Saturday!!!! So now I'm even more stressed because I have to figure out how to fix this horrible tan when I shouldn't even have an issue!!! Some days the tan will come out good and half the other times they come out horrible grey or black spots and so much more! One day I heard a lady go "we need to use the screw driver to make the machine work proper" hello???? Maybe fix your machine!!!! This place sucks. First of all I got a mystic spray tan that I've gotten previous times at other places, I did dark and I slept with it overnight, I know the proper procedure for a deeper tan. I kid you not it was on well over 8 hours to be honest I think I got the tan at noon till I woke up at 10am!!!! Literally no color, my boyfriend even said you smell like spray tan but you're white. Then they double charged me and want me to call corporate and fix it honestly I should get reimbursed for the tan my money back for double charged or offered something. First time coming here and with the treatment I received and service don't plan on returning. Sucks because if you check my reviews I tan a lot, and spray tan 4x a month. read more

Buyer beware! Both my daughter and I went in as first time spay tanners each at a different location. Were talked into spray tan memberships with a 3 month minimum. I cancelled mine after 2 weeks without a problem. My daughters experience was terrible. She attempted to cancel and was told they were unable to help her. She stopped in, called, and contacted corporate and was only met with incompetent people. She emailed Haley Frazier at corporate explaining what's happened and requesting a reimbursement for 3 months of overcharging at $34.62. Again met with incompetence and refusing to reimburse her and said she would cancel her membership. Unbelievably poor customer service and to take advantage of their younger customers! I am leaving feedback today because of the previous reviews I read. I have been going here on and off for the past 5-6 years. I have sprayed tan which the dark isn't really dark and it didn't last long (maybe my skin oils?) so I was having to come back every 2 days so I switched back to regular tanning. Everyone that I have had interaction with is friendly, professional, and once we start talking they become extremely friendly regarding their personal life. I enjoy talking to all of them when I go in. The only time I was some what unhappy after my interaction (and it really wasn't a big deal) was when I was switching back from the spray tan membership to the regular membership and the person gave me incorrect info. I knew different which is the only reason I knew what she told me was incorrect. As far as the bed not being cleaned until you get there that has happened a couple times but they went and cleaned it right away. Maybe caused a couple minute delay but come on if your cutting your time that close then you probably shouldn't be trying to fit tanning in right then. Plus you don't know what led up to that chain of events there could possibly be a good reason for that. Give the girls a break......it's really not that big of a deal. read more

I created a Yelp account just to be able to review this place! I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Worst customer service ever. Ever! The front desk girl kept asking if people could go in front of me because she saw a weird balance on my account. Twenty minutes later she decides to help me and then someone else walks in the door and she puts them in front of me AGAIN "because we have a complicated situation". I cancelled my membership months ago because every time I went they couldn't find me in the computer. Which made sense when I found out the front desk girl spelled Megan, "Meaghin"?! I've never seen it spelled that way in 27 years! So, I handed her my photo ID after spelling the 5 letter word a dozen times and the bimbo puts it under my middle name so now I have had two accounts for the last few months and no one can figure out how to merge them or close one? So now I have an unpaid balance mysteriously today from back in May and she can see all of my notes that I have been comped tans and upgrades for my next visit because of the frustrations I have endured and continue to come back because of the location. And then she still demands there is nothing she can do and I must pay the $10 and back dues and then activate a new account? Whaaaat!!? Yeah, I think all their brains are fried. I regret even trying to give this place a second chance just because they are walking distance from my house.
