Okay so I have been wanting to go to this venue for a long time, I have seen a lot of really great comedians being advertised to play here and just haven't gotten the chance to go. When I saw Fortune was playing I snagged tickets as fast as I could. When you drive up it looks like a giant carousel with the peaked edges and lights precisely lining the rims. The area was a little difficult to get into if you weren't parking. WORD TO THE WISE USING UBER OR LYFT: there is a drop off location on the north side with a little opening. We waited in traffic for a long line that could've been easily gotten to if we would've gone around maybe through the back. Also plan wisely after a show because the surge prices were crazy with everyone leaving at once. Honestly when the show ends, already have the app open or something if you don't want to spend $100 back to wherever you are going next. The event itself was so great, Fortune put on a great show. The concession stands were a bit of a nightmare. There was alcohol on one side and food on the other. The bathrooms were port-a-potty styles outside the venue. When the show started and we were all still in line the security guard made us all wrap around outside. That part was a little chaotic. Located in middle of the valley this venue is easily accessible from most anywhere in Phoenix area. Parking was quick going in and quick getting out. This is a small theatre with a rotating stage. You feel like you have front row seats and I don't think a bad seat in house. Parking was 10.00 for our event, not sure if that changes based on events. Getting in went smooth but it is a CLEAR bag venue. This was my second time here and just an easy place to go, get in, enjoy and get back out. read more

We recently had our first opportunity to visit Celebrity Theatre for the Incredible Kingfish opener, and the Fabulous Bluesman, the Great Buddy Guy concert. This dated yet incredible music and performing arts venue is distinguished in one particular way, to its in-the-round set-up where you'll see 360 degrees of the performance, and each seat will have a perfect view of the performers on stage. Although, if inebriated, a performer can have a bit of a problem keeping his balance. For the concertgoer though, the view is wonderful and very close as the stage is not that far from most seating. However, there is an exception, a very important one I might add. Somehow, to a point understandable, if you're seated in the first or second row of B Section, you will not get full view of the performance as movable seating and wheelchairs are placed by the rails between sections A and B and are in direct line of sight! Other than that, this is a relatively comfortable, lively, 2k person venue, with easy to access in and out, and an enormous parking area. Look forward to returning for other performances but will insure not getting the same seats again. read more

Excellent!! This venue is small, so you really feel like you interact with the artist! The sound was fantastic and not painfully loud. If you are in the first couple of rows some of the lights can be a bit blinding, but I only had to turn away a few times. We arrived after the opening band was performing and there was no one collecting the parking fee in the parking lot, so if I hadn't prepaid the parking online that would have been a savings. Only negative part of the night was security check staff & ticket scanning staff - all seemed to be in a really bad mood or mad about something. We gave Celebrity Theatre another try at the KNIX Hometown Holiday event on 11/23/24. The seats were just as UNcomfortable as we remembered. It's hard to enjoy the music when you are in pain! These seats are made for TINY and SHORT people! Parking is a pain too and of course it is extra. We were directed to a side road parking area even though we have a handicapped pass, which does no good. They funnel you through a single gate opening to get in and out. At the entrance, they WAND you and won't even let you in with a SEALED WATER BOTTLE! Did someone tell them that this is the DESERT? Water is a basic human need! Plus we need water to take medication. Most other venues in the city allow a water bottle. No water and the child-sized seats are the main reasons why we will never go back to this place again. PS: There was NO Holiday music at a concert called "Hometown Holiday!" read more

First time here... and the last This venue is a dump! Extremely uncomfortable seating with very narrow seats width and length wise. Anyone over 5' 5" or 150# or with wide hips will be very uncomfortable. No airflow on the upper level and the stage did not rotate. Sound was fair, microphone had to be replaced. Depending on where you sat, there were obstacles to prevent seeing the screens. In adequate lighting on the steps and dangerous ! Only one bathroom with a line of 30+ women out the door at all times. $10 for parking and $6 for a bottle of water, $250 evening was a total bust! Ended up leaving Leanne Morgan's show 15 minutes into it because of the lousy ambience in general. Will never be back! read more

I purchased meet and greet package and had to fight to have the people sitting in my seats moved and the security never helped. At the end of the show security demanded that I leave the building because I didn't receive a badge even though my ticket and receipt was provided. The luxury experience was a shit show. I have no issue with the venue it is old and slightly cramped as others have written but it is what it is and if that is where the band you want to hear is playing it is fine I went to see "Little Feat" 8/3/23 and sound was horrible also the introductory 1st band sound was equally bad. This place is not big, so any seat you get will be a good one. We went to see comedian Ralph Barbosa. We did not have any food but saw people with it, and it looked good. Maybe next time, we'll try it out. It's nice and cozy. good ambiance. Sweltering. Went to see Psychedelic Furs (they were very good so review only about facility itself) last night. Sending an email reminding patrons that AZ is warm and to "dress accordingly" was disingenuous (and for anyone sensitive to heat related illness, potentially dangerous)- when your A/C is OUT, say that. Most of us (including us) likely never even saw the email before the show and certainly would not have read between the lines that we were signing up to sit in a sweat lodge for hours. Temp inside was easily 90 degrees plus with NO air movement - no fans, no attempt at mediation, free water, nothing. While my bfriend toughed it out, I, along with many others, stood outside until the main act came on. I was feeling sick to my stomach and overheated. I can't imagine how the bands felt under those lights either :( In my opinion, given the AZ temps in May and lack of ventilation in the building, Celebrity Theatre absolutely knew what they were subjecting all of us to, and at the very least should have disclosed the conditions (no A/C) in a FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT (social media?) and offered patrons a refund, if requested. read more

Everyone seems to complain about this place. It's a venue that has been around a very long time. It's not that big but I have not ever had any problems with parking or getting in and finding my seat. Went to see Brian Culbertson & Patti LaBelle. Brian was excellent as usual but Patti had the flu that night but she put forth a valiant effort!!! However the venue was not good at all!!! As seniors we had to wait outside (standing) until about 5:45 for the doors to open as they were suppose to open at 5:00pm. They had to change our seats and that was a disaster. I thought that the theater had been renovated but that did not show at all, the seats were old and filthy. The stage was suppose to rotate and it did not. Very disappointing, will not be going back to the Celebrity theater!!!! read more

The venue is a bit dated and not in the best area. However, we always have a great time at the celebrity. Nice bar/lounge area in the lower levels that is usually open a few hours before the show. This is great when meeting friends, having a few cocktails before the show, or taking photos. Not a bad seat in the house. Security quick. Parking easy in, terrible out. They need people directing traffic. The place was built in the early 1960's so you have to be prepared for that. Lots of stairs, not a lot of railings. It's set up as a black box theater in the round. Seats are painfully tight. Glad for a cup holder but they pin you in, and don't swing up. I didn't bother trying to get a drink. I'm a shortie, and my legs didn't have enough room to get out of my row.. We had no idea where to get merch. I heard after we exited that it was downstairs. There was a downstairs too? I'm giving it 3 stars bc it's a small venue with the worst seating closer to the stage than anywhere I've been in recent years. Wear comfortable sturdy shoes for all the stair climbing. read more

Been here for two events: Culture Club concert in October 2016, & this past Friday, January 12th, 2018, for Holmberg's Happy Endings, put on by KUPD. The show featured 4 comedians: Chuck Bortel, Gary Cannon, Craig Gass, & Jay Mohr, who's been my fave since the 90's, making his start in small clubs & eventually, Saturday Night Live. This particular event, I had upgraded seats to the 2nd row & a VIP All-Access pass to hang out with the aforementioned Jay Mohr. I got to be one of many to drink Holmberg Bound, Holmberg's IPA beer, which the proceeds from it went to the AZ Humane Society. I found this theater to be very accessible & easy for me to get around in, although the one negative was the minimal leg room & crappy fall-down cupholders that even with the bar underneath secured, it still doesn't guarantee you won't spill or lose your drink at some point while enjoying the entertainment. I got to watch the show from the main walkway, & afterward? Hung out with Jay Mohr in his dressing room, which is a very nice, immaculate room that was stocked with Jay's favorites: Coca Cola in cans, bottled water, Orange Gatorade, & bananas. A fun night with a great guy (Jay Mohr), & a bunch of amazing radio peeps (the KUPD gang) made for an AMAZING experience for yours truly! Thank you John Holmberg & KUPD! read more

We arrived 45 mins early, but we were stuck in the street parked, waiting for unknown reasons. Then we were standing in line to stand in a line for another line with no signs to explain what's going on, one lady is walking by all the lines mumbling something about the lines but she won't speak up. People are walking in all directions, there's 3 security guards at the doors that don't know what's going on. I have been sent to 7 different lines. It's now 45 mins past the shows start time and they are holding the show because they can't figure out how to run this. Honestly whoever organized this needs FIRED in the worst way. A simple sign would have done wonders but apparently paper is too expensive. I will never again come to celebrity theater. If you have a show here in the future either get here 7 hours early or cancel those tickets right now. read more

first of all any rock concert historian will love this venue! It literally is a historic place! Recognized by the department of interior. If you have a chance to see a concert here while traveling through Phoenix, it's a must go! Here are a few tips to make your experience better. Parking; you can pay a nornominal amount and park in the theater lot where it's secured but if you want to save a few bucks, the theater is set almost a neighborhood , so there's plenty of street parking. My favorite spot is named after the Van Halen song and it's only a five minute walk. Seating: there is not a bad seat in the house, because for most performers or acts the stage rotates.! (most times it will tell you if the performance does not rotate prior to buying tickets. )There are only two sections : a and b . A is closer to the stage and you literally will see the sweat from the performers.! There is more space between seats and more legroom but you will pay a premium for this, and only for season ticket holders. Section B is a reasonable, but if you're a larger person be-forewarned it will be tight. Bathrooms: the bathrooms are located downstairs in the celebrity club and it will be hard to get there when everybody is trying to get to the seats . my suggestion is to wait when everybody's seate and then go.! lastly , entering the venue: Most people don't know that you can enter into the venue from the celebrity club (which is open to everyone) but it's downstairs . not only is it a short line but you'll go right into the century club where you can have a drink before the show and also check out all the cool posters of all the performers who have been here you will be impressed. BEST VENUE IVE EVER BEEN TO. The culture of the whole place is so uplifting. David the owner interacts with everyone, makes jokes, keeps everyone entertained. I was waiting for a concert from 9am until they let us in at 6pm. David would come out and offer bathroom breaks. Brought out water to keep the fans hydrated. Seriously the best concert I've been to. The band was amazing but the experience wouldn't have been made without the celebrity theatre team. After the concert I wasn't feeling well due to my POTS. They brought me water and I requested salt. Immediately they brought it out. Overall such a wonderful experience. The venue itself is very unique. Very clean and neat. The stage room was easy to navigate. No seat in that venue is a bad seat. The stage is in the middle and surrounded by the audience. The stage spins around so each person gets a view of their favorite artist. read more

You begin your experience with the parking lot. $10. No biggie until you try to park. The spaces are so tight you cannot exit your car. I'm not kidding. Next, you go through security before ticketing. My wife was tossed for having a clutch purse one inch too long. I offered a search of the contents- but no. After ticketing you are offered overpriced drinks and merch. The worst of all is the seating. The seats are faaaaaarrr tighter than seating in coach airplanes.The main floor, premium seats are folding chairs. The cheap seats are so tight, you cannot bend your knees. The mofo drink holders on the armrests are painful to rest on. The acoustics are bad. Reaaaaallly bad. We were placed by a security asshole that blocked the performance. Then a photographer blocked the rest. The seating is not raked, nor staggered so that you have no view, regardless. My wife saw nothing as the guy who sat in front of her had a head shaped like a watermelon. The woman behind me shrieked "wooooooooooooooooooooooooo" constantly with ear-splitting pitch. The coup de gras was the asshole in the first row who stood and blocked the view for all behind him. I asked him to please sit down, and he said "fuck you" then turned facing the section and flipped off the whole section. Security held me back, citing "freedom of expression". So, never coming back. This place is expensive, uncomfortable, and not worth coming to. read more

I used to like this place, and have attended many times over several decades. I know it's old and rather cramped, but for its age, I think it's a gem. Except that if you're going to a concert, you expect the music to sound good. We went to see Chicago, but the sound quality was so so bad, we could hardly hear anything but noise with an instrument here and there barely louder than the background cacophony. We've attended many concerts at this theater, usually at least annually. The theater is awesome as every seat is a great seat. The best part about the venue is that the theater has a continuous rotation, so you get to see the band facing you all the time, and it's interesting to watch the drummer from behind some times as well. HOWEVER, unfortunately at the recent Styx show (which was the first show they opened since COVID), they decided NOT to rotate the stage throughout the concert and instead, start and stop at each song. They promised that everyone would get a chance to have the band in front of them. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. We had great seats and the stage NEVER stopped facing us. We saw a good portion of the concert facing the back of the stage and at their equipment, not even seeing a glimpse of the band during those songs. A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. I hope they go back to full rotation, otherwise, I don't know if I'll attend the venue again in the future. Great seats, but not so great if I can't see the band perform. Being in the front row, the audio was also muffled. When I walked up to the 4th/5th row, it was better, probably because there are no speakers facing downward, they all face out. If they went back to full rotation, this review would be at least 4 starts. 5 if they can make the audio sound clearer for all seats. read more

I and all my friends that attended were bamboozled by the advertising and not told it was some tribute band That played. Although they were probably excellent studio musicians, it was not a world class performance, as a band. read more

Avoid this place like the plague! Traffic control was worthless as it took 30 minutes from the freeway exit to the parking lot. Once in the lot, we were directed to a section with ZERO spaces. It took another 20 minute to get inside and even then security was lackluster. They used a handheld metal detector and came nowhere near actually a full sweep. Walked in through an inch of standing water on the floor. Grabbed seats and went to get a few drinks. After being in line for 2 minutes a security guard rudely yelled "This bar is closed." I asked where else to go and she just named a place as if I knew my way around. I made it to another bar....guess what, same closure happened in 2 minutes. Wasn't even anywhere to grab a bottle of water. This place is generally overall old & nasty. Luckily Tom Segura was great. read more

What a dump! You would expect renovations after 50 years of being in business. I am only 5 feet tall and my knees hit the chair ahead of me and the rows are too close together so with someone in front of me I couldn't even see. More women then restrooms and dirty. If you want to get into your seat and you are in the middle expect the whole row to have to exit to let you in. It's insane how tightly packed in the people are. Drink and snack prices are hefty!!! Unless it's someone I really really want to see we won't be back. PS: my seat was even held together with some tape and once we moved to a different seat in an empty row others took our lead and looked for something less confining. read more
