Been coming here on and off for a few years. Very hit and miss. The hits make you want to return. The misses make you want to scream. Last year my daughter had a lash perm - lashes looked ridiculous - so curled she looked as though she had no lashes. I asked her not to return to this salon as it had become more bad than good, but she thought this time going back to Miriam would be better, but she got bumped for money-making lashes so Miriam didn't see her. The most recent visit was for a lash dye which was left on for a mere 3 mins or so. I'm not sure why they think this will be ok and the results were insignificant. So this salon goes on my lists for taking advantage of teenagers on the North Shore and basically ripping them off. It's not the best business model considering the teenagers could frequent for the next 40+ yrs. shame. read more

Maureen was very professional and took her time and the best part was I didn't experience any stinging or burning which happens so often while getting a lash perm and tint. I love Mariam- coming from CA I couldn't find anybody that did great lashes except her and followed her from her lake bluff location once she moved. I needed a last minute appointment and she couldn't squeeze me in- which was fine I figured since it's her salon the other estheticians would be held to some kind of standard of professionalism. I was totally wrong I came in for my appointment and she didn't ask me how I wanted my brows done. Didn't even speak to me the whole time. She dropped the tweezers on me and didn't apologize or even acknowledge that she hurt me, then picked up the dirty tweezers and used them on my freshly waxed brows. She completely changed the shape of my brows and they each are now a different shape. One arched and one rounded. I worked for two years to get them full when I told her they were too thin she just ignored me and walked to check me out. I waxed my lip and she was so heavy handed with the wax she got it on my nose and my lips. There was strings of wax on my cheeks and even my sweater. Unless Mariam is doing your service I would stay far away from here. read more

Surprisingly, eyebrow threading is still not as well knows as one would think. As a result, not many salons offer this wonderful beauty procedure. Thankfully, there is Celeste, close to my home and simply awesome. (They now added Sunday blowouts for a very good price that I need to try soon.) My eyebrows are always in good hands here. The ladies are very friendly and the results are wonderful. Prices seem to be too good to be true but don't be afraid. This salon is solid. And super cute on top of it. I came here for a threading 2x. Saw a different person each time. Service is great but my goodness my second time in, my eyebrows got HACKED A BIT! I said I wanted to keep them full and by the time I left- I'll add a photo so you can see right vs. left. my eyebrows had straggly hairs all over. When I asked her to clean them up the wings of my brows got shredded to bits. I should have known when she looked annoyed at my effort to explain my preferences regarding my brows, which admittedly are a bit intense, but really just "please keep them as full as possible". Additionally I was in more pain than usual as her threading was SO slow in removing the hair. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photos but my skin looks as if it got waxed off. This is a first for me with threading... will need to ice to keep down inflammation. Would give one star but so far it has been one of two people that really screwed up. Please note that I have been coming to Mariam for years and have been a loyal customer with barely any complaints. Today however was just such an awful experience with her. I noticed that one of my eyebrows was much thinner (shape wise) than the other which has happened over time (last summer they were both the same). I told her that I noticed this and would like to grow it out. So instead of taking this as something I want to do with my eyebrows going forward, she took offense and got defensive thinking I was blaming her and blamed me (so laughable). She went to the point of telling me to go to someone else. I was in shock and still am to be honest since I have been such a loyal customer who has never complained and only said great things about her work to her and others. And of course when I told her about what I wanted to do with my eyebrows they looked much better today after she was finished. She literally said all the defensive stuff AFTER SHE WAS DONE. Please also note that she was 15 minutes late to my appointment when in the past she has texted me if I was running a couple minutes late (which I always call and let her know ahead of time if I am). I understand if appointment run over time but there was no apology on her end for being late. I don't know if she was having a bad day but I am so disappointed in how I was treated. I will not be coming back to a place where my business is not wanted. Very sad. read more

This review is for an eyelash perm and tint. While my lashes look beautiful (thank god) I am sad to say that I don't feel the staff is properly trained. It's been a week since my lift and I now have a stye on my lash line that is painful and will be needing to go to the doctor to get it checked out. I should have known to walk away from the beggining when the lady who was doing my treatment got something in my eye (first red flag) when the boss came up she kept telling her don't do it like this do it like this. That scared me so after saying ouch a few times I requested the boss do me instead and I felt safer. Second red flag. the lady next to me was getting a perm and tint too. I could hear her saying ouch too she was further along than I and that didnt seem normal at all. I was terrified in my chair but at that point it was too late to turn back. Things were feeling okay once I had a better staff member doing it but then came the tint part and washing it off. Just like the other lady my eyes were burning. I wasn't as scared since the lady before me walked out not blind but that shouldnt be what you base a treatment off of. They dont even potect the lash line while doing these treatments. I normally live in LA and have gotten a lash lift and perm before. It was a completely different and better experience. They sealed my eyes closed with a protector on the lids and used a collegen under eye mask while I sat. Not once did I have any pain with the treatment or get anything in my eye. It's clear they are not trained in this service at all in comparassion. I am disappointed to write this review but I am doing so to prevent others from getting an infection like me and in hopes the staff can be properaly licensed in lash lifts. I am thankful that my lashes look good and that things are not worse. I'll be going to the doctor soon and hopefully this stye will heal on it's own. I'm sure this place is great for brows but I'd recommend finding a place more educated in lashes. read more

Went to get lashes permed and tinted. It started burning so much towards the end my eyes were watering like crazy. She also dropped some of the dye on my face and it went on my eyebrow and I have blonde eyebrows and now one of them is partially black. Also at most places it is customary to turn the screen to the customer for tip and this did not happen so even though my eyes were burning at the end and part of my eyebrow is now black I felt pressured to tip. I normally like Celeste. They're quick and cheap and have never had any issues. My friend went yesterday for an eyebrow wax and tint and an arm wax. The woman got wax in her hair, all over her pant leg, and then made her lay her arm down on the table, where her arm was stuck. When she picked her arm up there was a bruise (see picture). I don't think I can support a business that doesn't accept their mistakes or do anything to make up for their mistakes. read more
