But they were seated at the main patio, which ended up full and loads of dogs. It felt like we were singled out the whole time but at this point, we were just like whatever. During the whole dining experience it was just us on that side until they sat another couple next to us. Everyone else was at the main patio. I'm sure when we left, they must have felt the same, left out. Clayton was our waiter which he was very sweet. Host did mentioned the specials when we got seated as well as Clayton. We asked about a a certain dish (fish and chips), which no one didn't quite know the answer to. Same as everyone else, they had to asked each other what kind of fish was being used. It was a little back and forth that we opted out on that dish. Started off with a cold beer. Drinks menu had pretty much everything as well. Food menu, it was a mixture of everything. Fresh baked bread was brought out which was quite tasty. Hot right out of the oven with butter. Something so simple but so tasty. We actually had a second helping of it which was very nice. For mains, the gnome dip. Their specialty sandwich with braised angus short rib, au jus, cheddar sauce with a hint of spice, on a house roll with fries. It was decent but nothing major to rave about. The short rib did have a lot of fat but whatever. Fries on the other hand were nice. And the Gnomies ramen. It's not your traditional ramen. Chefs secret broth with either angus short rib, grilled teriyaki chicken breast, shrimp or pork. First off, it's not ramen noodles that were used but thin spaghetti noodles. It served with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, hard boil egg, mushrooms and garnished with cilantro and sesame seeds. I went with the angus short rib for the protein. First impression, it's pretty small. Then comes the taste test, the broth was quite salty. And then that's when I found out it was pasta noodles instead of ramen noodles. Not your traditional ramen but their special version I assume. Sometimes it's better to leave things the way they are... That dish was a miss for me. The restaurants itself is quite nice with the patio seating. It's covered with loads of umbrellas which is nice and charming. Right when you walk inside there's the bar area. Two dining sections, one to the right which people did utilized to cool off from outside. The left side was closed but layout was quite nice. Feels like a nice ski chalet with the fire place. Also for the size of the restaurant, there's only one restroom. Overall, the place is charming and cute. Nice patio but being seated away from everyone else did feel like we were singled out. Didn't want to say anything afterwards as we thought it was the section for pets until everyone else walking in with their pets were seated at the main patio with everyone else. Majority of the guest did prefer to be outside but some outed for indoor. Food, it was whatever. Nothing major to rave about. Ramen was a major disappointment but the fries were great. There's a couple of hi top tables and seating at the bar area but main seating is the kitchen counter. It's like the chefs table. You're literally watching them cook and interacting with them. Of course you have the two brothers Ruben and Ozzys taking good care of everyone. The main counter where we like seats about 10 or so people and it all looks into the kitchen. Love that we can interact with the chefs while dining. But everyone comes for the main thing, the amazing seafood dishes. Would you get seafood in the desert. This place I say yes. Everytime we've been here which has been years, the meal has alway been excellent. And this time was another great experience. We have our regular that we alway go with for starters. The mussels in white wine sauce is definitely a must. Big meaty green mussels with a delicious white wine broth and of course you have to have the garlic bread for dipping. We didn't get any other starters but I do recommend the poke stack, both fresh oyster and grilled. Ahi is excellent with the dipping sauce and if you don't want seafood as a starter, the lamb chops are quite nice. They also have a good selection with their wine list and mixed drinks. I believe it's a full bar as well. Entrees, my favorite is the Ruben specials. Shrimp, crab, scallop, mussels and clams with garlic, basil, tomatoes, green onions in a white wine sauce with linguine. So so good and flavorful. Ozzy special is another favorite but we didn't get it this time. Also it was a first time getting the crab enchiladas. Let me say, it was delicious. 2 hand rolled corn tortillas stuffed with crab meat and cheese with creamy verde sauce and cheese. That's served with rice. Simple dish but so delicious and flavorful. The meal was delicious as always and the company was excellent. Everyone here is the best and the sweetest and friendliest. The locals love it here as they tend to know everyone that walks in. After struggling to get our son comfortable, we eventually realized the booster seat has two different height settings depending on which side is facing down. It would have been helpful if that had been pointed out when it was brought to the table. Throughout the meal, our server seemed distracted and wasn't around very often. Our food was brought out by other staff members, which isn't necessarily a problem by itself, but combined with the lack of check-ins it made the service feel disconnected. The biggest disappointment came when I took my son outside while we waited. The benches, chairs, and handrails in the waiting area were covered in bird droppings. There were spider webs in multiple places, and the entrance to the restaurant itself looked dirty. I understand the restaurant is going for an old harbor or fishing-boat atmosphere, but there's a big difference between rustic and neglected. Instead of feeling charming or nautical, it felt like years of dirt and grime had simply been left in place. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but basic cleanliness and attentive service are things I expect from any restaurant, especially when dining with a young child. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback because the restaurant has potential, but our experience left us with little desire to return.
