    Soon tofu soup
    Rosanna S.

The food was alright, I ordered the golden rolls it was ok. They didn't bring out any ginger and no wasabi And i got palm tea which was delicious. my boyfriend ordered the soon tofu soup, it was spicy but that's all it was, it was flavorless, it came with small bowl of rice, kimchi which was good and a raw egg to Crack in soup while it's hot. The service was normal and the ambiance was small in the inside and they also had an outdoor eating.

Lunch special teriyaki bowl, baked tuna roll, combo box

My boyfriend and I are visiting Idyllwild for the first time decided to stop by for some sushi after seeing good reviews. The place is a little small the food was amazing. We got a teriyaki chicken bowl, combo box, and a baked tuna roll. The service was great we didn't wait long and the baked tuna roll was the star of our meal. We would definitely come back. Only 4 stars due to the climate the place doesn't seem to have AC so it was a little warm inside.

This is the only sushi place on the mountain, so we came in with low expectations. The sushi itself was decent, but my wife's udon was extremely salty--and they added fish cakes to a vegetarian udon, which was disappointing. The avocado rolls also had old, blackened avocado. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back on our next visit to the mountain.

Quaint Japanese restaurant at the mountains so we had to try it. Server was nice, service was fairly quick. We got some miso soups since it's a bit chilly tonight. I wanted a hot green tea but was told they don't serve them during summer. A lady next to us asked for hot water and got one so i was confused why i can't have a hot tea. We got iced tea instead which tasted really weird, i can't pin point what it was but definitely something else. I asked for lemon slices so i can place them in which didn't really mask the taste. We usually just order sashimis and nigiris when we eat at sushi spots back home in OC so that's what we did tonight. Fish was fresh and cut was thick so that's good. Although one variant of the fish was still too cold, kinda sad bc that was the best one - melted in your mouth once you eat it. The sushi rice was pretty hard though and didn't taste like sushi rice. We finished off with one roll which was tasty and had a kick to it.

This little spot is really delicious. When we came the service was quick and top tier. Our favorite dishes were the beef udon and gyoza - the gyoza were perfectly crispy.

Yellowtail hand roll: 4 stars. Yummy

came to Idy Sushi for lunch and opted for some yakisoba! I know why it is one of their most popular dishes. Beef Yakisoba: 5 stars Very tender and deliciously seasoned beef sauteed in a skillet with crisp carrots, cabbage, onions and yakisoba noodles! Great depth of flavor, and just the right amount of seasoning. I would recommend this dish to anyone! The beef was so good - I'm still thinking about it! Yellowtail Handroll: 4 stars Good yellowtail! Good quality fish, yummy seasoning and good rice. Crispy nori on the outside, and a healthy portion for those of you wanting a little something more. I would order this dish again. Service could use a little more help. Our waiter seemed to be more occupied with to-go orders than those of us dining in, but all in all, not a bad place. I look forward to coming back for the beef yakisoba.

GREAT SERVICE, BUT BLAND... it pains me to say this as the staff were absolutely wonderful. However, I have to be honest. I tried the edamame appetizers and they weren't a hit for me. Next, for the main course I had a order of veggie yakisoba w/ tofu and this also missed the mark big time. I didn't like that the noodles tasted store bought. Honestly I've had better maruchan noodles. The tofu was solid but it wasn't enough to save the dish. The fried fish looked good but I didn't get a chance to try it! I didn't feel like sushi this time around so I might give this place another shot, however it's going to be a while till I come back. As I'm writing this we are in the middle of the summer in Idyllwild and things are heating up. I was further disappointed that this place did NOT have AC, it was very steamy in there which made my visit a bit uncomfortable. Again, I'm sad that I have to leave this review because our waitress was awesome! Hoping they improve their cooking soon!

Came here after a hike on a Saturday for lunch. Sat inside. Quaint little shop. Clean. Friendly service. It was full of Chinese and Japanese students from the Idyllwild Arts Academy. It was cute to hear the Japanese girls commenting to each other how their food tasted like home. However, we came for the spicy pork bulgogi and kimchi. Which was yummy. The server did not hesitate to give me more kimchi, which I loved. We also ordered a rainbow roll. The fish was super cold and as a result the flavor of the crab salad overpowered the flavor of the fish. Hence, minus one star.

It was just an ok japense restaurant. We didn't even get sushi, but the other options were underwhelming. Probably worth driving elsewhere.

Something to be aware of: the ramen isn't traditional ramen it's instant ramen with toppings at a 15$-20$ price point.

The temperature was perfect inside. Tina our server was great! She was very attentive, her timing was respectful (intense conversation going on) and our glasses were never empty. For the appetizers we ordered Jalapeño bombs (Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, spicy crab, spicy tuna, mayo, eel sauce, massago, and green onion) literally were the bomb! For $12.95 you should try it. We also ordered the Calamari fried in Panko for $12.95. I was not really a fan, so I would pass on this one next time. I loved my Miso Ramen soup. It's so hot outside that it just made sense to order a hot dish to change my internal temperature. It was delicious! For $15.95 the soup came with mushrooms, corn, green onion, seaweed, boiled egg, and pork belly. My daughter ordered the same soup and loved hers as well. My husband ordered the Beef Teriyaki Plate for $22.95 it included thin sliced steak with sauce, served along with rice and sautéed vegetables. Just being honest my husband did not like it. He said the meat was too tough and the sauce was too sweet. So that meal is a pass for us next time also. I will absolutely be back for the service and the Ramen.

To start off with the good, the rolls were great, I highly recommend the venue roll and the yellow tail crudo. The drinks were great nothing out of the ordinary or anything I would come back for or wish to have again. The matcha lychee drink was pretty unique though! Now for room for improvement... I feel like the food and drinks alone are wonderful but the service was very disappointing to say the least. We had a reservation for 4 people inside, and when we checked in multiple walk ins of 2 and 4 people were let in before us to be seated inside, even though we showed up at the same time and had a reservation for the exact time we got there * reservation was at 7 we checked in at 6:57*. We got seated right by the restroom and instantly there was an odor that came from the restroom that impacted our experience. Not only that, but half of our party had to continuously get up and move in order for guests to use the restroom. This isn't any negativity on the guests themselves, we understand that they obviously needed to use the restroom. When we asked at the beginning when we were sat if we could move tables, when there was room inside to be seated for 4 people our server told us that there wasn't anything that they could do... I understand maybe other reservations but it really is unfortunate on how multiple walk-ins were seated before our party with a reservation, our party had to be continuously disrupted in order to accommodate for guests using the restroom, and the odor coming from the restroom didn't allow us to actually enjoy the food and drinks.

For appetizers, our favorites were the crispy ginger green beans (so flavorful and tasty!), the hand-rolled crispy egg rolls (yum!); and the crunchy tiger shrimp spring rolls (freshy and tasty; liked these better than the poached shrimp spring rolls or mango spring rolls). For entrees, our top favorites were the (1) chicken protein bowl w/ fresh seasonal vegetables in a delicious sauce w/ a touch of chili oil and tamari soy sauce; (2) the sweet tamari glazed salmon w/ wok fried rice noodles nad peanut tamarind sauce; and (3) the pad thai trio (w/ pork, chicken & shrimp). The tiger shrimp vermicelli w/ shrimp wontons (like a crispy egg roll), was good, but not the best I've had; noodles were thicker than usual. The spicy red curry ramen w/ pork belly had a very flavorful sauce, but the coconut broth made it quite heavy. The Vietnamese crepe w/ pork & shrimp was good, but had too many bean sprouts. The Fried Chicken was good, and very generous portion, but had a lot of breading and bones. Next time would like to try the pho.
