The worst service ever! Held on to medical documents for over a month and refused to explain treatment!!! Absolutely awful service. Lack of education and knowledge. Refused to show evidence of recommended dental work. Dr. Octoman recommended over $25,000 in work and refused to show any XRays, charts, or documentation. The. Refused to meet and explain why she refused to sign a one page exam form for my transplant. Thea people are scammers! They knew I needed one form to be signed prior to my exam. Once they scammed my exam and fees, Dr Octoman refused to complete the medical form and avoided my calls and staff could not provide an explanation. Dr refused to come out to see me. Absolutely awful and 100% fraudulent attempt to scam thousands of dollars from my insurance. What an unethical disgrace. Would never recommend to my worst enemy. My mom has been complaining about a tooth that has been bothering her for over 8 years. I have been bringing her to the "best" dentists all over LA and Vegas and no one has been able to solve the issue of where her pain was coming from... We are greatly blessed to have found Dr. Octoman. After filtering through years of top dentists, she is hands down the best dentist on the west coast. She figured out the issue and my mom is FINALLY pain free. Dr. Octoman is a true professional with a calming presence and great bedside manner. She checked on my mom every step of the way. Worst place.ever!!!!! Told me I needed 3 root canals after telling them my teeth weren't bothering me. They said it needed to be done. They finished 1 in the bottom front and half way finished 2 close to the front 1 on each side. all 3 teeth broke all the way off. These greedy devils took my smile away. They didn't help me with anything took at least 50 xrays. They basically just used me for what they could charge the state for and then threw me out the door in a way worse position than when I started. Please do not allow these people to take your smile away they did nothing to help me read reviews on the closed business. I just did and am so upset they've done this to other people. They need to be shut down permanently. I say all the people they have done this too, we need to get a lawyer and sue them together!!!. This is beyond unacceptable!!!. read more

Went in for a simple extraction on a cracked tooth that was not yet infected, but they gave me 3 root canal surgeries and removed teeth that had already fallen out due to unrelated incidents prior to my visit. They billed Medi-Cal for the procedures.They didn't even do the extraction. The receptionist lady kept hard selling me on prosthetics. She ran my credit and hardcore annoyed me spending like 30 minutes upselling me on porcelain ones instead of plastic, which my insurance covered for free. They had me wait another 2 weeks to do the extraction. Dr. Octoman was not in, but one of her other dentists injected me 8 times with novocaine, and when I told her that I was still in pain, proceeded to inject me with 3 more shots. Her injections didn't work. She asked me after an extra 15 minutes if I was numb yet. I told her I still felt a little bit of pain, so she decides that I'm full of it and does the extraction anyway. The pain gets a lot worse 'cuz she's now twisting and pulling on my tooth, even though my cheeks were completely numb. I tried to get her to stop, but that's really difficult when your dentist doesn't believe you and keeps pulling on your tooth while you're screaming in pain. I started tearing up 'cuz, you know, throbbing pain and 11 Novocaine injections into the wrong areas. My body went numb and I started shaking. I had them call the paramedics. The dentist kept repeating, over and over in front of other patients, that I was having a panic attack. I'm not sure if that was some kind of response to the amount of Novocaine injections or whatever, plus the stupid Orajel thing they swab near your tooth, but that has never happened in my life and I was scared that I was going to die. It hurt like a mofo. I decided to wait it out and not go to a nearby hospital. I'm not sure if that was a mistake. Like a gaslighting girlfriend, she kept trying to blame me for, I don't know, going into seizure or something? Automatically assuming that was a panic attack (which begs the question, has this happened at this dental office before?), telling me that I should have eaten and taken my diabetes medication before visiting the dental office ('cuz I told her that before she performed the operation and I was running errands early in the morning. I told her I was going to be late. She still did the surgery, knowing beforehand that this was a problem), laughing at me while I'm sitting in her waiting room (she was nice enough to give me some kind of Filipino peanut brittle), etc. I had her refer me to a specialist. I called Medi-Cal, who referred me to another specialist. That doctor gave me one injection and extracted the tooth with one move. To be fair, I ate Chinese take-out before my surgery. I've scheduled another appointment with the other dental office (the one with a specialist) for a check-up. If I could give no stars I would! I went to Dr. Octoman in Covina about a year ago as my son had an emergency and his regular dentist was not open. I found them on the insurance site and so I figured they were a legitimate dental office. Well, let me tell you that they tried to get me to pay out of my pocket for a procedure that my insurance covered, billed my insurance for a different code and lied to me and my insurance about it. I asked how much my insurance would cover and I was told they were closed and that I would have to wait until Monday being that it was a Saturday morning. I agreed to have the procedure done as my son had a broken tooth and was in pain. I gave a cash deposit and was told they would let me know what my insurance would cover. I called on Monday and they told me it would take 6-8 weeks to find out what my insurance would cover because they had to submit a claim. I knew this did not sound right and after multiple calls back and forth between my insurance and this dental office I discovered that when a dentist is part of the network they have contracted amounts and know exactly what they are and in case they "lost" their contract and they can call the insurance company who happens to be open on Saturdays and obtain the contracted amount in 5 minutes!! To make a long story short and my nightmare experience quick, i have been dealing with them for a year! They submitted the wrong code to my insurance although they performed a procedure that was covered by my insurance and they were telling me it was not and that if I wanted the "upgrade" I had to pay out of my pocket. My insurance explained to me several times that there was no such thing as an upgrade and that the procedure was covered and that I should not pay a penny more to them. When my insurance three-way called the dentist they told the insurance that it was a mistake they made and that they were correct and I did not have to pay anything else and that it was covered. They were also requested by the insurance to resubmit the claim with the actual procedure that was performed. They did and I thought it was all corrected. Next thing I knew they were calling and sending bills for over $400 for the "upgrade"!!! The ladies in the office are really nice but acted confused when I would questioned them each time and they straight out lie!! Even after the three-way call with the insurance they were back to their same story of the "upgrade"!! It was a nightmare. I filed a complaint with the dental insurance and with the BBB! Lesson learned from all of this is that you should ALWAYS ask for a printed Pre-Estimate Treatment that spells out the procedure, codes, what your insurance will cover and what you are responsible for. Do not agree to any treatment until you have verified everything with your insurance. Also, READ and become familiar with your insurance coverage summary and if you are not sure about something communicate with your insurance first! If you do all this, there will be very little wiggle room for them to mislead you. I gave this advice to some co-workers and it was amazing to see 2 of them avoid my same mistake. They were being told similar stories and when they asked for the pre-treatment estimate and sounded educated about their plan and called their insurance to verify the dentist story and found it was not correct, they both were told by the dental office "We are so sorry we made a mistake, you are correct". The main dentist is never here, the girl who manages the financial part is a old, rude, not friendly woman who wears too much makeup. When my tooth was in pain due to a root canal that needed to be done asap, I remember being in pain and the financial girl speaks to me with such a condescending attitude, asking me how am I going to pay for it. In the middle of the worst pain I tell her that I spoke to my mom and she will handle it, then she replies "oh so your 28 years old and can't handle your own root Canal bill". This is where it all started. So later i got my root canal done but right before the canal they put something in my mouth that hurt so bad, the dentist asked the assistant something about my pain and I heard the assistant say in a different language (Tagalog) to the dentist that he did not want to waste his supplies because he already started. So apparently they could of gave me a shot that would of numbed me first but the assistant was not thinking. and when they were done they just left me there for an hour sitting. Apparently they were waiting for my mother to come by to either make a payment plan or to pay for it. But i did not know this until later, honestly it felt like they were holding me hostage until my mom came to pay they didn't even offer me to go sit in the lobby. Then I Made another appointment at 1pm for my crowning later that week, the night before the appointment they call me to confirm that I was going to be there at 1pm otherwise they were going to charge me, so then the next day I get there early at 12:55. Then they tell me it's lunch time and I have to wait an extra hour. Why would they give me an appointment at 1 if they won't be here!? And instead of apologizing they tried to make it seem like it was my fault. This place does not deserve to be here. Don't waste your time at this place. The only reason this place gets at least one star is because the people that work the front desk are friendly. That was just my first experience, after a couple of weeks, my crown from my past root canal was continuously bothering me from the start. so I come in to get it checked and the short haired dentist just looks At me for 7 min and tells me I just need to floss more, as if my problem wasn't even a problem, a couple of months later I wake up to a really swollen face so I go back to the same place, and one of the dentist tells me that I have an infection due to trauma from a raised crown. Then she says I should came in earlier to avoid this situation and I was like I did but no one cared. And yet again then again they attempt twice to get me to pay for things that wasn't needed, basically I get charged for something that I asked for help for but got no help. The only reason I came back was since it was them who did the procedure for my root canal then it should be them who fixes it. They just don't treat people right and at times very unprofessional with their approach. I have literally left that place either drained from all the stress, annoyed, and even one time a little depressed. read more

My first visit here at Dr.Octoman's dental office everyone greeted me with a sincere hello. As I went in for my exam the staff and the doctor where very welcoming and listen to my concerns on the sensitivity and discomfort of my teeth. The doctor explained to me in detail her concerns on my back teeth and that I needed crowns, I was a little hesitant because I honestly do not like having any dental work, but everyone at this office made me feel comfortable. And they worked with me to make payment arrangements on something I can afford it was easy and fast through care credit. I highly recommend this dental office!!! read more

I came here for fillings and wisdom teeth extractions. They told me I had a ridiculous amount of cavities and only filled four in. Later when I went in to another dentist, I didnt have as many cavities left as they were saying. 2 weeks after my fillings, to which I was still experiencing tooth pain, I had 1 impacted wisdom tooth taken out. They had another dentist, I say dentist because I'm not even sure was an oral surgeon, do the procedure. They only gave me numbing shots. They didnt work. I felt everything. No other agents were talked about prior to removal. No talks of laughing gas, etc etc. A couple days after I got the tooth taken out, the horrible pain started. I made appointments several times and got different answers each time. After going to a new dentist they confirmed it was dry socket. Even to this day, I'm still experiencing pain, and this is months later. I have another dentist appointment to see if one of the fillings they gave me is bad, or if they cracked my tooth when yanking on my impacted wisdom tooth. The only positive about this place is that some of the staff is really nice. It's just a shane they're working for a terrible dentistry location. read more

They try to sell you procedures you don't need each time. Then when I had an actual broken tooth and wanted to see Octoman they made me an appointment but she didn't show up. DO NOT GO HERE. My first appointment with them was for some fillings, which went fine. They didn't check my bite when I was leaving and I noticed some of the fillings were too high over my tooth line, but they told me once it settled it would be fine. A few months later I went in for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction, which was a horrible experience but not their fault (it's always a horrible experience lol). I left and when my mouth had gone down from the swelling, I noticed the dentist had literally stitched THROUGH my cheek. I told them about it, I was so scared I'd get dry socket if I cut it and it unravelled so I decided to wait until they took out the stitches. Like what kind of dentist STITCHES THROUGH YOUR CHEEK. Then they took out the stitches, that was fine and then the next day I noticed my cheek was swollen with pus because she hadn't even pulled out the piece of cotton that was lodged into my cheek from the bad stitching job. Whatever, it's done, I don't have to go back. Then after a few months I notice the fillings in my teeth that they did are deterioriating to the point I can feel the outline of where they drilled into my teeth. So, I go back in to ask them to redo the fillings because it's only been a year, I don't grind my teeth and my other fillings from other dentists are fine. They refuse. They did a terrible job on my fillings and then refused to fix it. This is the worst dental experience I've ever had. No compassion, no interest in trying to help me. Regarding Celia Octoman dentist Covina, been going there for aprox 2 years, mainly cause they accept my insurance, find the work and the dentists to be sufficient, although they might try to do to much work at one visit. My complaint is there have been some changes in staff, for the worst, the new people lack good customer service skills, and make comments etc that shouldn't be made on a professional level , some crude women, for this reason Im looking for another dentist.
