+.5 for service This is one of those "good, but not excellent" places. This place came up in my suggestions for an authentic French restaurant in Quebec City. Slight bit of drive outside Old Quebec, but it wasn't too bad. My family of 3 made an 8pm reservation over the holidays, which was a good idea as it was quite busy. The menu is tapas style, so shared dishes. We started with a dozen oysters, and they were excellent. In fact so excellent that we ordered another half dozen. Then came the shared dishes: Mussels - Good Grilled mini octopus - Good, although small. Rutabaga and cured duck breast - There was barely any duck breast in it, and it was the thinnest slice I've ever seen. Grilled hangar steak - A bit chewy despite it being medium rare. Chargrilled shrimps - Great, probably the best dish out of these I had. Service was excellent overall. This is probably a place I'd recommend if you aren't very hungry, as the portions were small for shared dishes. read more

DELICIOUS OYSTERS AND AMAZING COCKTAILS! This is probably our favorite restaurant at Quebec City during our Quebec trip. Great food, warm atmosphere, and amazing services! The highlight is definitely the oysters - so fresh and delicious, and the price is very reasonable (2 dozens for a bit under $60). Being a person without much knowledge in wine pairing, I played safe and ordered a bottle of Chablis, which worked out quite nicely. We also ordered a few small plates to share, and the sautéed mushroom was the pleasant surprise! The flavor is so rich and creamy, and we love it so much. I'm glad we saved some space for desserts. The dessert platter was so amazing and what a great way to wrap up our dinner on a high note! Their cocktails are also very well made. Our server took the time to understand our preferences and prepared the cocktails to our liking. I'll definitely love to visit this place again! read more

Review long overdue. I was at this restaurant before COVID hit. Everything was pretty good and the oysters were delicious, so I'd say, OK, not bad! My husband and I had a great experience though mostly because of the company! We tried their escargot. An interesting way to cook it. The flavors didn't quite complement the escargots well. I guess I'd stick with the traditional parsley butter. The ravioli was pretty good but the portion was way too small. The star was the oysters from PEI. Fresh and full of flavor. read more

We found this place in one of the many pockets of the city full of restaurants. Beautiful inside, great hip hop playing and clearly a local haunt. The menu is tapas style. The fried chicken is the the thing to try here and it did not disappoint. Can't remember what else we ordered because I am reviewing this late. read more

Right on 3er Ave and near 10th Ave, we found this oyster bar when googling for late night eats near our AirBnb. I am happy with our choice here. This was a good intro to local Québécois. You would definitely need to know French to fully enjoy this place, because as polite and friendly as the staff members were, none of them were not comfortable enough in explaining the menu in English, but that was fine since I was to practice my French anyway throughout this week long trip. I appreciate that they at least tried. They have a small English menu for the food and a full French menu that includes the beverage and alcohol. I ordered the wild mushroom risotto and my beau ordered their Daily Pasta Special, which was ravioli with chicken-like mushroom! Both dishes had superb taste and the mushrooms tasted so much chicken that it was shocking! I always love French food because of the rich flavours and excellent service usually. They gave us plenty of bread, refilled our water and checked in on us often enough, but unfortunately when it came to paying for the bill, the server took forever to come, so I had to go up and personally asked for the bill. Otherwise, everything was better than expected. Weather was decent, so we got to enjoy the patio. Their oyster and seafood selections were unique to me and they had an extensive menu of beverages. WOW! This amazing little gem of a place is 5 star across the board. Great modern quebecois cuisine, great service, and great ambiance. This was our first night in Quebec and we wanted to try modern Quebecois cuisine. We read great thing about Cendrillon, so made reservations and off we went. We arrived and were warmly greeted and taken to our table near the open kitchen's oyster bar. The decor inside is very eclectic and charming, and they also have patio dining out front. The dishes here are smallish, as you are meant to order several and share. Bigger than tapas size and wash is a little mini entre in itself...very nice concept. They also specialize in raw oysters, which I love, buy my son and wife do not, so we skipped these. They also make homemade charcuterie, and so started with that. The charcuterie plate included five different types; Copa, white ham, pepperoni, duck breast, and a pate (forgot what type). Surrounded by assorted house made picked red onion, fennel, and pickels, and each served on top of it own house made special sauce. This was the best charcuterie plate I've ever had even compared to those I had in Europe. For the share plates they had many great sounding items on the menu but my wife and I each wanted to try the quarter lobster tail and puff pastry and caviar cream sauce. So we got two of those are we got steak with cheesy mashed potatoes and red wine sauce for our son. Our lobster was simply out of this world...could not have been better. Our son loved his steak; and for the entire ride home could not stop talking about how much he loved his mashed potatoes and his broccolini with Cesar dressing. We also ordered their escargot with Parmesan and a piece of seared foie gras on top. Also super delicious. I should also mention that with each dish our waiter carefully described each dish, which unfortunately I am not doing them justice here, as I am sure I forgot half the ingredients, but nevertheless every dish was superb. We later found out that our waiter was actually one of the co-owners (Jeffery, maybe. I am terrible with names) and he founded this restaurant four years ago. The name of the restaurant is Cinderella in French and they called it this because it's a bit of a rebirth of a restaurant that used to be in this location back in the 60s. Sounds like this part of town kind of ran down and now it's experiencing a rebirth. For dessert we thought we try something different and ordered: Maple sugar tart with Maple baked bean ice cream, and a piece Maple sugar "cake" on top. The tart and the sugar cake were very tasrty, but too sweet for us. However, the ice cream was quite wonderful. (Think azuki bean ice cream, but replace the red beans and sugar with baked beans and maple syrup). We each would have liked a big scoop of it. We also had olive oil sponge cake, with a bit of maple ice cream. This was just average, nothing special here. All in all, I highly recommend you visit here, as you will be in for a great experience. read more

Usually when short ribs served after 20 minutes, most likely was frozen and trying to bring it back to life. I think also that's not hygienic to eat out of a plastic tray (no plate). Finally the pint of the local IPA was not that cold and missing 1.5 inch from the top. I started editing this review at 4am after episode of severe heartburn most likely due to the amount of fried onion or shallots piled on top of the cut... that commercial crunchy stuff we buy at Costco in bulk....maybe I'm mistaken...just started to think the R word... the only Non-French speaking in the entire restaurant?? read more

If you are looking for high quality food, caring service, and a chic atmosphere then this small plate restaurant in the heart of Limoilou is for you. The owners/operators seem to take pride in each and every detail of the dining experience. The bar menu, the decor, and the food are all world class. The charcuterie are all prepared on site and were perfectly matched by the accompanying "sauces" and cheeses; btw, the "sauces" aren't your standard fare, rather they are unusual mixes of vegetables and seasonings ground to perfection. We also tried the risotto and it was prepared well, firm and not at all soupy, very well balanced with flavors. The rabbit sausage was also homemade and seasoned appropriately. The cocktail and wine experience is just as solid as the food. The bar is well stocked. We stuck with straight pours but our neighboring tables enjoyed creative concoctions that were clearly made by a artisan, not just a bartender. The entire experience was a culinary delight and I highly encourage those who enjoy a wonderful dining experience to visit this restaurant. read more

This truly exceeded expectations. This is a neighborhood place, with rather a younger clientele. We called for reservations, and were told that there was nothing other than the bar available for 1745, until 2130, so we agreed to take the bar. Upon arrival, however, we were given a nice outside table. Our waitress was very friendly. This place serves small plates rather than full dinners on the menu. Rather small New Brunswick oysters were fresh and tasty. We opted for the skewered shrimp (very good), potatoes brava (awesome) and mushrooms (Hobbit-worthy). Sadly, even though the waitress understood that we would have liked them together, they came about 10 minutes apart, seemingly prompted by our emptying the serving dishes onto our plates. However, the quality of these later dishes left us delighted. Also, the wine offerings (though inadequately described) were far above the level one would expect at a tapas place. Minor ding for the fraud in the card reader, which calculated % tips on the total (including taxes) rather than the actual food bill -- this is probably beyond the control of the restaurant, as this seemed to be the case at other Quebec restaurants, but do your own maths! read more

Fantastic. Great food, great service and fun atmosphere. We are a family of 4, with two 13 year old girls. Everyone loved the food. We were probably the only tourists in the place. No worries. We were made to feel right at home. The waiter spoke perfect English. I strongly suggest you venture from the City center to find this place.
