My husband and I were looking for something to do the other day and he came across this suggestion online. We have been in this area many times and had no idea this adorable park existed! It is truly a hidden gem. There is miniature golf, lawn games, and paddle boats. We played the golf while there. It was really fun! $10 each, which I didn't think was bad at all. We go every year we go with our boys (ages 8 and 10) to play putt putt and paddleboat. They love it!! I noticed that the score card recommended that the course was not for ages under 8 due to difficulty. I would agree with that! My younger son (who is quite skilled in golf) has been playing it since 5, but has more fun as he's gotten older. For non-golfers I would definitely recommend not taking young kids. Paddleboats are great for 30 minutes! Beautiful lake and scenery! Highly recommend for families with kids, couples, or friends looking for an outing! read more

A beautiful park about 10 minutes From Minneapolis, Minnesota- has ice skiing in the winter time and great views.

For those of us who don't care about the cold, or choose to drag a significant other into the cold against their will, Centennial lakes offers one hell of a winter date night activity with their park. Just go to Chuckie Cheese and look to the left, you'll see the entrance and it means tons of parking. Oh yeah, it's free!!! Great warming house setup with ample room for people, decently priced hot chocolate and snack items, and a well lit, well groomed ice skating adventure just steps out of the warmth. It's not the greatest ice on the planet, but, they do an admirable job in making sure it's groomed and enjoyable. Skating under the lights, under the bridges, around the office parks mixes the fun of skating on a canal with the "haha" thrill of being able to skate around when you can see others are working. Some points of the skating path will get choked down thanks to the banks closing in on you, but, they quickly open back up to a bigger, more wide open path. If you want to practice some stick handling, bring a puck and stick and hit up the south side of the skating trail. A huge pond with tons of room awaits! Once you're done, cozy up next to the fireplace and then head out for drinks or dessert all around the Southdale/Galleria area. read more

What a great place to go for a fun winter date night. So grab your stakes and hit the ice. If you don't have skates they do rent them there for 5 dollars. But don't fear if you do not know how to skate, you can rent a kick sled and push each other around. We used to stop by 5 Guys, grab a couple burgers, then sit on one of many swinging wooden benches that dot this charming park. This is by no means a "natural" park. You can tell that the City of Edina spend lots of money maintaining the intricate and manicured landscaping. I recently took my wife and newborn here for a photo shoot. The willow trees and tiger lilies made a great backdrop. There is a small event building located in the middle of this park. You can host a party or small wedding. There is also a small outdoor auditorium for weddings or intimate musical events. We even considered having our wedding at this location. There is also mini golf and paddle boat rentals. I think it's a wonderful oasis for office workers needing to escape their glass prisons and retail employees needing to get away from demanding customers. Good job City of Edina! Making the taxpayer dollars work for the taxpayers! read more

This is a great place to come any time of year. In summer there's mini golf, paddle boating, gondola rides. Those can be a little pricey, but you can also enjoy the lovely flower-lined paths, have a rest on one of the many swings strategically placed around the lake, catch an evening concert at the amphitheater, or bring a picnic lunch and sit in the shade at the tables by the club house. In winter the entire lake is open for ice skating, and there are 2 hockey rinks on the south end. If you bring your own skates it's a couple of hours of free fun. Otherwise they rent skates (and sell concessions) in the club house. Skate for a while, warm up inside with hot chocolate by the fire, and go back out for more skating. It's a fun winter's evening. I don't know of any other places like this in the Twin Cities area where you can just stop by for some free wholesome fun any time. read more

I grew up spending time at this lake with my family so coming back here always brings me back to my childhood. Centennial Lakes is located in central Edina in the middle of anything you could possibly want including well-rated restaurants, shopping centers, libraries, Chuck E. Cheese (used to be Circus Pizza when I was a kid!), etc. The lake itself never ceases to amaze me, especially for everything that it offers for such a tiny man-made lake. To begin, it's gorgeous and the park itself includes various sights to see including bridges, beautifully trimmed flowers, shrubs, and trees, swings alongside the lake, wonderful for families and other scenic views. It is very well-maintained and Edina does a good job of making sure it stays this way. I've been coming here for years and things still look just as good as they did over a decade ago. This beautiful place is a wonderful place for photo shoots and it's not uncommon to see wedding, bridal, or school pictures being taken here. They also have spouting water fountains that you can often see children playing in. Now, you probably think this is it, but the list does not end here. They have tons of activities to do. Miniature golf, paddle boating, croquet, lawn bowling, ice skating, fishing- you name it, they got it! Even a farmer's market available on Thursday's from 3-7 PM. They even have an amphitheater alongside the lake that seats 1,000 people and you can often find various concerts or movies hosted in this area, all for free! The amphitheater and building can also be rented out, great for large events. The ice skating is available during winter and is a beautiful and also, wonderful place to be able to truly experience winter ice skating outside (much cheaper than other nice ice skating places in Minnesota, such as The Depot). They also have fireplaces inside where you can sit and warm up with some hot chocolate you can buy at the concession stand. This is definitely a truly beautiful place to be on a sunny day and also to mention, it is never extremely crowded. There may be areas of the park that attract more people such as the lawn games area, but in general, you will always be able to find some seats along the lake or path that are secluded if you so choose. You will also never have trouble finding parking either. The only downside in my opinion is that there is no "beach" feel to this lake as every single part of it is man-made and the water is very, very dirty so you will never see anyone swimming in it besides ducks and fishes. Also, the hedge maze hasn't been up for awhile. Instead, they keep the grass neat and trimmed now so you can only see the remnants of what it used to be. read more

Love farmers markets but annoyed by the farmer's market scene? Here you will shop among a few Edina yuppies, a lot of random SW mpls families otherwise occupied by summer reading and paddle boats, nurses in scrubs going home, and many many South Asian families getting their market veggies and cilantro - versus Linden Hills ladies acting like a bag of beets is as important a purchase as a new car. Centennial Lakes Park is an easy and cheap way enjoy winter. Ice skating is free--FREE--and skate rental is only $5 dollars. The warming house is large and not stinky, which seems the norm at many other warming houses, and the fireplaces make it extra cozy. Even though this is a suburban, manufactured "natural" space, it is nice to skate under the bridges and along the uneven shore line, instead of around and around in circles like other rinks. When I went the entire lake was not cleared off for skating, but hopefully that will happen soon. read more

Stopped by this hidden gem on a Saturday morning to kill some time and walk my dog. In an otherwise very cramped-city feeling location it was the perfect escape. Outdoor yoga on the patio, RC boats sailing in the ponds, paddle boats, and a VERY nice natural grass miniature golf course. We played it, was super fun. read more

I Recently discovered this place, and since now that I live so close, I have a feeling, I will will be back many more times this summer. I think the whole concept is great, put a nice little lake area in the middle of tons of housing and businesses to get away from work and home life for a few. The whole lake area is about a mile and half around, so if you have time at lunch, this is perfect to get some exercise! Also, the are has tons of things to do, you can rent paddle boats, do a hedge maze, or just take a nice stroll around the lake. I've had a number of great outings here, including one this last weekend. The mini golf is fun. It's a well laid out course that doesn't take a lot of space but is still fun and challenging. I've been out here for a team building experience with some co-workers. We all had a good time on the golf course. The paddleboats are also fun. We went out on these last weekend on a 100 degree day. It was fun to float around, and we paddled over to the fountain and drove right through it to cool off. It felt great. Lots of little ducklings in the water too. Fun to watch. A bunch of older guys also had R/C sailboats and an R/C battleship. They chased us around when we paddled through that section. The battleship also had a water cannon on it that sprayed us. Lots of fun! It's a great little park with lots to do. It's always fun to stop by. read more

Not all mini golf courses are alike! I quickly found that out on a recent Saturday morning golf off! So, we're tied 1 win each and 1 tie, this is the tie breaker. I'm not a good golfer, so I really should have known better. We get to Centennial Lakes around 11:15 am on a recent Saturday morning for our golf off. He brings his own putter, could be construed as cheating or having a leg up, but I go with it. We head out - hole 1, I'm down by a couple of shots because someone with their own putter gets a hole in one. Hole 2, wedding delay. We wait about 10 mins for them to finish taking photos. Why they are there, sitting on a mini golf course, dodging goose poop is beyond me. Hole 4, wedding delay. See above. Trying to leave, wedding delay and children delay. This time we buzzed around them on the bridge and headed out. It was getting hot, which makes me irrrrritated. Overall, we had a great time. I lost so I had to buy the ice cream. Good thing we can agree on that! Check it out, but go early, I bet this place is hopping mid afternoon on a sunny day. read more

I go here all the time with friends. There's 3 separate areas to skate. The warming house has hot chocolate for $2 and I believe it's $5 to rent skates and $5??? To sharpen your own which only took me 15 minutes when I got them sharpened last winter. The staff is always friendly and in the later hours the Christmas lights are good for morale. Great park to check out in any season. My favorite is to come in the winter and skate on the lake. It's large enough that you're not running into other groups but at the same time it's hard for them to maintain a smooth surface on the entire lake. This place is GORGEOUS! Definitely not a natural lake, but a fun and gorgeous place to hang out, take a walk, stop by the shops, and grab some coffee on a sunny day! Hidden jem of Edina and right next to my apartment = LOVE! Nice places to sit, mini golfing, movies in the park, boat rentals... So gorgeous! I've lived in the Twin City area all my life and didn't know this park even existed until my wife suggested we go one Sunday afternoon. I'm in a wheelchair, so didn't think I'd be able to access much; was I surprised! I was able to enjoy about 90% of the park! One thing that stood out was about a 2 block long mini-golf course; the only thing wrong with this has to be made accessible to wheelchairs, especially power wheelchairs. All in all, though, a very enjoyable time can be had. read more

I am awed by this place, no matter how many times I go there or whichever season it is. Beautiful man-made lake, bustling with activities all around the year! Summer is full of activities. The farmers market is by the lakeside every week in the amphitheatre. They have boating & mini golf for a small amount. There is a chuckEcheese nearby. Couple of good restaurants and a bowling alley too. There are so many ways to entertain for little or no cost at all!! Nothing Like grabbing some food at PotBelly, Five Guys or a half dozen other places around the lake loop, taking it outside to enjoy it on a table, swing, steps, etc. Then going for a 1.43 mile loop to walk it off. I love walking around this area it's so beautiful. You can play bocce ball, play a round of mini golf, or take a cruise in a paddle boat. They have music playing quietly through out the park, there's a fun maze you can race through with someone. Absolutely beautiful place within the busy city of Edina. The scenery is charming, and gives you a relaxing feel as if you really are not in the cities. It is in a great location near restaurants, shops, an Whole Foods Co-op, and even a Core Power Yoga. Centennial lakes also has its own sources for entertainment with access to fishing in their lake, mini golf, and paddle boating. My husband and I had our engagement photos here, and they were by far our favorite ones out of the 3 spots we had our photos taken. Lots of things to do, but if you do the putt putt course, everyone has to stay at hole 1. They have 18 holes, you have an option to do 9 or 18 yet everyone has to stay on 1. Found this park by accident while at an adjacent restaurant, and could be more delighted! This park is beautifully maintained, feels safe, and is near various restaurants, etc. it's nice to feel that you can take a relaxing, nature filled walk and getaway while staying in Edina. It's great for all ages and incorporates activities, art, and various other unique and interesting offerings. This park makes me want to live in the area and make this a part of my daily routine. I love this park. Hidden behind 5 guys and Potbelly it is a true jem of Edina. Every day in the summer there is something else to do! Mondays are ballroom dancing. Thursday are movies and Farmer's market... (many of you downtown fav's are there!). The fishing is great and you can always catch something.
