My experience with Centennial Properties has been extremely troubling. I leased an apartment approximately two months before my scheduled move-in date. However, just one week before I was due to move in, I was informed that management of the property had been transferred to another company. When I contacted the new management company, I was told that my lease had not been properly confirmed because Centennial had executed the lease two days after a court order required them to transfer control of the property. Fortunately, the new management company ultimately approved my lease, allowing me to proceed with the rental. The most concerning issue involved the return of the funds I had paid to secure the apartment. Centennial issued refund checks totaling nearly $11,000, but the checks were returned for insufficient funds and could not be cashed. Based on my experience, I believe Centennial's conduct was deceptive, irresponsible, and caused significant financial and emotional hardship during an already stressful relocation process. read more

I was the first to apply for an apartment, and we delivered a cashier's check for the deposit before getting approved, which is illegal. We strongly question the professionalism and operational standards of Crystelle Slappy, Listing Agent, and the company she represents. There have been serious and repeated failures in document management, property listings, and overall administration. More than 25 high-importance clients in Manhattan have not received critical documents for weeks, creating unacceptable delays and exposing clients to operational and financial risk. Emails and phone calls are consistently ignored, and there is a complete lack of follow-up or accountability. Due to these ongoing issues, I do not recommend that any investment funds, institutional investors, or high-level clients engage in business with this company. The level of disorganization and lack of communication puts at risk not only transactions, but also the reputation of real estate professionals and global investors involved. I lived in a Centennial building for 3 years. It has been quite literally one of the most maddening experiences of my life. Among other things, we had a cockroach infestation and when we called to complain no one would listen to us. They leave a form up to sign up for extermination services that will go MONTHS without being changed. We went a month without a refrigerator at one point and the company would not return my calls until I called 311. Last summer, my roommates and I all got a $900 charge in the middle of the month (our rent is taken out on the 1st and is not $900). No one would explain to us what happened and finally my roommate had to go in and demand someone speak to her because we were STOLEN from. They told her that the woman in charge of charging the rent payments was fired and took random amounts from tenant's accounts in an effort to get one more pay out before she left!!!! They were not apologetic and just applied the $900 EACH to our next rent statement. To cap it all off, the company is holding our security deposit in bad faith. They are telling us that they will not return it to us until the new tenants pay their deposits...WHAT?? What do I have to do with the new tenants? Isn't it the company's responsibility to get a deposit when a new lease is signed? I go into the office and complain about the MOLD and RATS and who can I contact to fix it, then the next day they said they filled the apt and I have to move out. I go into the office and the white boy with short man syndrome (I think his name is Steve croman) shrugged his shoulders and said nothing he can do. THEN they tried to steal my security deposit after I moved about May 31st and NY State Law says you are legally owed it after 14 days or the tenant can charge double if it was held in bad faith - which stevey for sure held it in bad faith. They blocked my number and I go into the office and they keep saying they lost it or someone needed to sign it - just a bunch of BS. After I turn into a full blown Karen, they give it to me and ask me not to check it until July cause it will BOUCE. Do NOT rent from this company. They charged us rent after our lease was over and we had already been moved out. They didn't apologize for the error or act with urgency in returning the $3495 they owed us. My partner and I had a one bedroom in the city through them for a year. When our lease was almost up, I became concerned because no one from management had reached out to talk moving out. Instead, I reached out multiple times via email and called their office leaving voicemails to try and arrange for move-out. No one got back to me. I got an invoice for May rent (despite this being past our lease end date) so I followed up again via email multiple times asking that they give me written confirmation that we would not be charged for rent. No response. I spoke with our super about move out and it was he who informed leasing that they had looked over us. However, still no communication from leasing. May 2 our rent came out even though we moved out days before. I finally got a hold of someone and they shared that someone had incorrectly put our lease end date in the system as April 2026 rather than April 2025. Rather than offering a refund then and there, they told me to ask my bank to reverse the charge instead. My bank doesn't do that. I went back to them and asked them to fix it on their end and they said they would try to get in touch with accounting. Still have not heard back and it has been a full business day. Centennial Property is a SHADY management company. First off they ask for one month's rent /security deposit up front in cashier's check before they even process your application which is actually illegal. They say it's also to hold the apt while they process your application and they weren't going to take other application. Because I am in a desperate situation and have to move out in a week I gave them the cashier's check for security deposit. Then it took a whole week for them to process my application b/c apparently they took another application. One long week later they finally updated my agent and told her they went with other applicant. So it's either they just made that up and they will keep my deposit or they did another illegal practice by taking another application when they said the security deposit is to hold the apt while they process my application. This SHADY management company has been doing illegal practices for years and the owner actually went to jail for few years. it has been 19 days since my roommates and I have moved out, and we have not heard anything about our security deposit being returned- which violates the 14 day law that exists in NYC. They were unresponsive to maintenance and building issues for the duration of our lease, and did not care that packages were being stoled from the locked mail room likely by another resident. We were told upon moving in that the building had a camera system monitoring the package room, this ended up being false. The most helpful people I encountered were the maintenance staff who worked in the building, more-so than the landlord, superintendent, and my property manager. For a 3 bedroom apartment that was tiny, our rent was above 2K per person. Our laundry machine broke, and the property never reimbursed the money we needed to spend to get our laundry done elsewhere while it was being fixed- which i was told would happen by my property manager. After calling and emailing persistently about the laundry reimbursement, my property manager began avoiding my calls. I have rodent activity, finding droppings and seeing mice come into the apartment as well as old sticky traps that were left from previous tenant. A fly infestation, cockroaches, apartment wasn't cleaned when I moved in, duct tape everywhere including covering the floor, smoke alarm and a missing tile in the bathroom. Eric Cruz has always got back to me in a timely manner and got any issues resolved quick. We even had a few issues that Eric and Centennial could have not helped us with.- but again They went above and beyond to lend their help and service to make sure we felt comfortable in our home. If you need to break the lease for uninhabitable conditions, take caution that no matter how much proof you have, they will tell you you're lying and send debt collectors after you to collect the rent you supposedly "owe" them. Happened to me years after legally vacating based on my rights as a tenant. They are currently wasting my time trying to get this money years later and apparently I am not the only one. They just hired someone in collections who has literally been assigned the task of reviewing all tenant accounts and sending any account that could potentially owe money (i.e., anyone who broke their lease) to the debt collectors, without ever getting in touch with the tenants to get the facts first. They use a lawyer for collecting debt who also represents Harvey Weinstein. Total intimidation tactic. Wouldn't be surprised if the lawyer gets a cut of any debt he successfully collects. The work these people do is incredible! Those cheap amounts are a spit in the face especially when he's charging us $4000 for rent! Some of the supers are owed upward $15000 for side work they've completed for this company. I'm disgusted! This guy is a megalomaniac. I found a group called the Croman Coalition. I've given them a call along with a recording of Steven viciously yelling and berating his staff. Unresponsive to complaints. Upon move-in, one cupboard was nailed shut, and the bathroom sink had a huge crack. There was a roof leak in my unit, causing water damage to ceiling and wall, and they didn't repair it for seven months. I had to live those seven months with a disgusting wall behind me, covered with whatever the water brought in from the roof (dirt, pigeon droppings, chemicals, etc.). Horrible living conditions. Roaches would crawl into the unit under the door, due to other tenants who constantly left their trash trash in the common hallway. Other tenants smoking and loud noises throughout the night. Other tenants' dogs barked for hours on end. Landlord refused to do anything but send emails to other tenants. The front door to the building doesn't close properly, so often people would wonder in off the street and steal packages from the hallway. They destroyed my private roof deck looking for the leak, and never repaired it, so it was completely unusable. We also had lots of packages stolen from lobby and they refused to install security cameras. Update on my last review... I am almost embarrassed that I wrote that review. Soon after I received the concession, my dryer broke (Dec 2020) - I have been trying to get it fixed SINCE THEN. I have called, email, texted. I am getting the run around- and they even tried to blame me- telling me first that I wasn't being accommodating the repair people (see attached screenshots/emails) and then telling me they had no record of the dryer being broken until just a few weeks ago (again see attached screenshots/emails). I am supposed to give notice as to whether or not I want re-sign my lease by Friday. I have called and emailed asking for either an extension or a rider that states, in writing, that my dryer will be fixed, before I re-sign... it's been crickets. I have lived in NYC for 15+ years - 7 of which were in an apartment run by Jared Kushner's management company (notorious for being one of the worst in the city). I moved out of my apartment in November with lease terminating in December 2020. I've been attempting to get my security deposit back for the last three and a half months. They neglected us after flagging mold in appliances and dragged their feet in greenlighting our super (the ONLY good person we interfaced with) to fix problems in a timely manner. By the time we moved out: there was mold in our washer (which we flagged the first day we moved in), a hole in our bathroom ceiling from what was most likely water damage from pipes (and potential mold there), and both our bathroom and kitchen sinks had severe leaks for 2+ weeks. We were told management had refused to approve the proper repairs in time. After raising our rent an extra $1000+/month, we decided to move out and give better people our business. Without proper notice, they put our personal emails on an external blast to rent the apartment and told us to deal with handling viewings (not one of their employees or agents). This was of course not only to licensed external agents, but we also had requests from random strangers asking if they could come up and see our apartment. It took multiple attempts to even get someone to respond to our request to not send our personal contact information out, which they of course did not end up doing. They took over 2 months to return our security deposit while constantly misleading and lying to us about where it was and why the money was not being returned. Eventually, I had to physically go to the office and get the check to avoid them "mailing" it again to God knows where and telling us it's delayed for some crazy reason. They are in legal battles over a few of their buildings, so if you do decide to rent be prepared to potentially not pay your rent to them but to a court-appointed receiver (oh and they won't tell you this, so good luck getting your money back and to the receiver, if you accidentally pay them). read more

I lived in a Centennial Property (formerly 9300 realty) apartment for a year. Upon moving out, they have refused to refund the entire deposit, ignoring NYC law. After months of being ignored, they cut a check for only a partial amount, and have since gone completely silent. The entire process of dealing with thus company has been incredibly frustrating, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more
