Incredible care! I love Dr. Vazeen, MD. He has been my ophthalmologist for more than 20 years. He is incredibly thorough and knowledgeable, understanding and kind. He is board certified in Ophthalmology. Carson City is extremely fortunate to have a physician of his caliber and experience. I trust him implicitly. The staff is very friendly. Recent visit for cataracts was extremely disappointing. Waited more than 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time before I was called back, then another 30 minutes before the doctor came in, only to spend less than 5 minutes with me. The back office staff was SO unprofessional! An assistant with long, stringy dark hair and ugly pink scrubs was rude, unfriendly, unskilled and actually touched my upper eyelids with the non-disposable bottle of eyedrops she put in my eyes. WTH? THIS IS NOT OK! Additionally, I observed there is very little attention paid to hygiene or exam room cleanliness. No effort is made to sanitize rooms or equipment between patients as they are being shuffled through. I will be looking for a different provider after my experience and do not recommend this office. read more

I went in July, 2021 to get and exam (it is 2025 now), check for glaucoma, and a new eyeglass prescription. The woman who examined me wouldn't even give me a prescription, said I would need surgery for cataracts within 6 months. I have had light cataracts for at least 20 years (I am 80 now. I went to an optometrist for a new prescription, and he said my cataracts were just to be watched, checked my pressure, and wrote a prescription for new lenses. DO NOT to to Advanced Care, all they want to do is make you have unnecessary surgery for a bunch of money. In my opinion, they are scam artists. read more

I like the doctors but trying to get call back about an issue, on 3 occasions, was nearly impossible. Still trying to get a call back from last call! I have glaucoma & would think with issues I'm having should not be getting shuffled around. Dr. Wu, Noel and the entire team at Center for Advanced Eye Care are excellent. I had an acute problem with my eyes while out of town and my primary physician instructed me to get in to see an Ophthalmologist as soon as possible. Physician schedules are understandably busy however their office was extremely accommodating despite the fact that they had a full schedule of patients. I was seen quickly, diagnosed and treated by the team and am extremely grateful. The entire staff was excellent and I would strongly recommend them to anyone. read more

Dr Wu is the best. He has to do laser surgery on Me, he did laser surgery on my father stepmother, and aunt. He is a very good doctor.

Husband, who is an established patient, called to talk to someone about an issue with his eye that was concerning him. Called in the morning, and was told he would get a call back. Called again several hours later, and was again told he would get a call back when someone had the time. He never did get a call back at all. Going to see another eye doctor tomorrow. Does not instill confidence that the practice cares about the patient. read more

I am very pleased with my refractive surgery care! The preparation, planning, follow up, and final outcomes all exceeded my expectations. The doctors are highly skilled specialist and are extremely precise in their work and with the use of their high tech instruments and lasers, all which are well supported by intelligent staff who are warm and charming; they sure make the experience pleasant and comforting. Went and had my annual eye exam. This was my second year with this office. However, this time the visit was not billed for an annual routine visit but as a 'specialist' visit. Called the insurance and was told that it was not billed as routine. Called the office and was told that they always bill as ophthalmology specialty and not optometry and they will not make a correction, therefore I'm stuck paying the extra in the copay. Be aware when you go to this office and ask should you have the same situation with your insurance. Wouldn't give any stars and will NOT go there anymore in the future and will spread the word to anybody that is listening. read more

I had cataract surgery done by Dr. Vazeen from Center for advanced eye care at Western NV Surgical center in Carson City this week. I have had many surgeries and I must say that this is the best overall a-z beginning to end. The staff at Western NV Surgical center was excellent, efficient, knowledgeable, and kind. Dr. Vazeen did an excellent surgery on my eye. It was over before I knew it started. The staff at Advanced Eye Care center was wonderful, explained everything for before, during, and after care. Eye doctor -- Dr. H. was great. He was patient and explained what he believed to be the cause of my issues. Pleasant and seemed to know what he was talking about. I have never been to a doctors office where no one introduces themselves. It is bizarre that nobody says who they are or recognizes who you are when you visit. I am used to the person that takes you back introducing themselves and acknowledging who you are by name. I had three people , including one I assumed was a doctor come in and totally ignore who I was and who they were. not even a Hi I am Dr, SoAndSo. nada, nothing. Sort of cold and very impersonal. I was visiting a good friend and getting my cataract removed by Dr. Vazeen at the Center For Advanced Eye Care in Carson City, Nevada. (That's an awesome place for eye problems! Dr. Vazeen removed my cataract and fixed my astigmatism! For the first time in decades, no scores, I no longer wear glasses! And I've worn glasses since I was 5 years old!) A clerk did my eye exam. I needed contacts and glasses. Dr. Vazz, came in to scan if there was a "surgery opportunity". I got glasses Rx that was good, but they never checked for my contacts, which had not been changed for two years. another optometrist not with Center for Advanced Eye Care changed my RX stronger so I could see clear. THEY do NOT give loaner contacts if you need contacts, so you will never know if contacts work unless you buy them. And they never checked me for contacts. I was rushed through like a 'cattle call." They do not care UNLESS you are a surgery opportunity. Do NOT trust their surgyry, they are Surgery Crazy. read more

This review is for Dr. Mehti Vazeen: Dr. Vazeen failed to wait the requisite time for my numbing shot to take effect; therefore, 80% or more of my cyst removal procedure was felt wholly and completely by me. I cried, grimaced, moaned through clenched teeth, hyperventilated, and nearly ripped the belt off my jeans. I repeatedly said "I feel the cut." I also fully felt the impact of the cauterization, the first one. Imagine that. He finally gave me a second anesthetizing shot in a different area almost at the end of the procedure, and I thankfully did not feel the final cauterization. But by then he was done. It was beyond traumatic. I don't have adequate words here to express the agony of having a 4mm-by-4mm cyst cut from my inner eye, near the puncta, without the advantage of anesthesia. There is no doubt he knew of my pain. His assistant admitted to me later I made it clear to him I felt everything and that he could have waited longer. Dr. Vazeen was insensitive and plowed through the procedure. He should have not begun at all before checking to see the shot had taken effect. Or at the very least stopped once he discovered the depth of my agony. Did he not know where to apply the shot? I cannot emphasize strongly enough to anyone avoid this doctor. I felt physically traumatized and was led immediately out of the office, feeling faint and weak. I needed to sit there longer, but they were in a hurry and needed the room. The doctor did not utter one syllable to me after the procedure. Do not go to him. read more

We found out the begining of November 2013 that my 15 year old son had Cataracts and needed surgery. Dr. Vazeen performed the surgery the end of November on both eyes. My son went from hardly being able to see, almost blind in one eye, to seeing almost perfectly. Vazeen was very patient and made my son comfortable through something that was very scary. Dr. Vazeen and his staff are just purely amazing!! I had terrible eye sight (-4.75 in both eyes). My eyes started going bad when I was 13 and I'm about to turn 30 in a month so I decided to buy myself something I've been wanting/needing for 17 years. I live in Orange County but being that my family lives in the area and everything is cheaper than here than in OC, I chose to do my surgery here. Dr. Vazeen decided at my consultation that I was a candidate for PRK surgery and I booked my appointment for a month from then. The recovery process is longer (2 weeks) than LASIK (1 day) but most people end up having to go back 10-15 yrs later to fix the LASIK and you run the chance of getting nerve damage from the deep layer they have to cut for LASIK. Each person working here was caring, knowledgable, and made me feel comfortable from day one!! I am on week 1 of my PRK recovery and already have 20/20 vision!!! I am ecstatic and I highly recommend the Center for Advanced Eye Care!!! Best money and time spent to never have to wake up blind again!!!! read more

The staff here is very rude. When I came into their office they were very busy. So busy in fact that they had a large line. Unlike most doctors offices they did not prevent other patients from standing so close that my personal information was able to be viewed. When I finally was called out of the waiting room I was bought into a room with some angry red haired woman. She didn't introduce herself or ask me how I was she simply told me to sit in the chair and was incredibly rude. She asked me how long I had my condition and I told her I didn't know but I told her when I had found out about it. She seemed very flippant and uncaring. She was in a huge hurry and didn't bother to explain that she needed to give me eye drops or what they were. After about the 3rd room change I was able to see the doctor. Who was very nice but she too seemed like she was in a hurry and that she could careless about treating a patient. Overall if you're into rude,uncaring, non-private eye appointments I would have to say go for it. If not don't bother. read more

I called to make an appt for my son as he had something in his eye. The woman that answered the phone told me that my son had to go to Urgent Care first. I asked why and she said that it was protocol. I said that's weird as I was just there last month because I had something in my eye and not one person told me of this urgent care protocol. She then got annoyed and said well that is the way it is. I said no my 22 year old son is not going to spend $300 to go to urgent care just to be told to go to the eye Dr. I said it's ridiculous and makes no sense. She then made him an appointment but she made it very obvious that she was annoyed about it. My son went to the appt and it turns out he had some metal in his eye. As the first Dr was working on his eye my son was nervous and was asking the Dr what he was doing. The Dr would not answer he just kept saying I'll tell you in a minute. My son said to this Dr I'm nervous when you working on my eye and it would make me feel better if you just told me what you were doing. At this point the Dr walked out in a huff and in a few minutes another Dr came in. My son asked what was wrong with the other Dr and this new Dr said oh he gets upset if people ask him too many questions. Well maybe he should not be a Dr then as patients do have the right to ask questions when you are working on their bodies. What a wonderful bedside manner! Then to top this whole thing off as my son was checking out the woman at the desk asked him why a 22 year old has to have his mom make his Dr appt's for him. She said this loud enough for everyone to hear I guess in an effort to embarrass my son. I'm sorry if she does not have a good relationship with her children but in a professional environment this is an inappropriate and unprofessional question. I'm glad I was not with my son because my response would not have been nice. I would say at the very least that some customer service training is in order for some of the staff! read more

Had to go back for the second half of my cataract surgery. Nurses are good - Dr. Vazeen was cracking on the other Dr. being late ... Something about taking too much time on his patients and adding more to his schedule. IDK, Dr. Vazeen thinks too much of himself. I felt like I was in an assembly line - after this surgery, I will be looking for another eye surgeon in Reno. His mannerisms and the lady that answers the phone is most unpleasant. She commented on how she wasn't the Dr. and how would she know the answer without consulting him. May be true, but she was not pleasant to whomever she was on the phone with! read more

Dr Wu did surgery on my eyes. I gave him 5,000 dollars above the normal charge to use toric lenses My vision is now worse close up and far away plus my eyes are so dry they feel like someone threw sand in them. When I told him my vision was worse and i would pay him again to put my eyes back to the way they were, he told me I had a guarantee that my eyes would be better. That was 5 months ago. He finally gave me a prescription for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism in both eyes!!! I took a vision test at the DMV to get a drivers license and they had to give me two chances to pass their test at 2/40 with both eyes!!!!!! I highly recommend seeing someone who is more competent, and knows what they are doing! I am very dissappointed! There guarantee is not worth anything!!!! read more
