My son has been seeing Teresa for many years. She worked for Julie Kahn & Associates (another…read morefabulous practice) in Highland Park for awhile and then opened up her own practice in Northfield this summer. Teresa specializes in myofunctional therapy, which uses physical therapy exercises to improve breathing, facial posture and bite. While my son is expected to be in speech for longer he's made great improvements thanks to Teresa, a tongue tie procedure last year and starting orthodontics on the earlier side with Dr. Boyd (a dentist located in the city who specializes in airways). Teresa herself makes therapy fun for my son and he's always happy to go. He's been doing this a long time now so I appreciate that she finds ways to make it fun so that he doesn't get too sick of it. She's also been very helpful when it comes to speaking with Dr. Boyd, our ENT, and the speech therapists at his school. In fact, the therapists at school were so wow'd with Teresa that they even brought her in at one point to do a training for them. The only negative is that Teresa does not take insurance, although from my own research I found it difficult to find a speech therapist who specializes in myofunctional therapy that does take insurance. We did find someone many years ago, but she wasn't nearly as good as Teresa so this is money well spent. I do submit my bills to insurance every week and a little bit is covered each time. I do hope we get thru his treatment soon between the high therapy bills every month + time spent, but I do know that Teresa takes great care of him and has his best interest at heart.

Would NOT recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a professional, communicative practice…read moreto work with their children. Since his evaluation, my son has had 3 different therapists, which no one at the practice informed me of until the day of. It was not communicated who would be his ongoing therapist at any point. I had to ask multiple times who his therapist was. After only a few weeks, his therapist went on medical leave for a month (she is still not back), and there was no one for my son to work with while she was gone. You would think an occupational therapy practice would do the bare minimum and assign someone else to work with their child clients while their therapist was gone. I am a therapist myself and cannot believe how unprofessional they are. So disappointed and angry at how my son has been treated there. Do NOT send your child here.

Disclaimer: Take what I'm writing seriously, because I'm a straight-up helicopter mom with…read moreridiculous high standards (at least I'm self aware!) Heather and Katie have been working with my son for years now and they are amazing. They are fun and sweet and work so hard to make things fun, but also challenge him to his max. Teaching a 4 year old with dyspraxia and hyperlexia how to move his body in a natural way is NOT EASY- and they go above and beyond to keep him happy and engaged (even when he's being a total pain!) He views these kind ladies as his friends and will ask me to text them or send them videos when he jumps extra high one day or is able to hop on one leg. Moreover, they go above and beyond advocating for him- providing me resources, doctors to consult for any concerns that I have. They are a wealth of information! My family members have commented, multiple times, how much more naturally my son moves and his physical progress. They helped me get him to eat vegetables on his own, where before he'd literally have a nervous breakdown at the mere thought of touching a piece of broccoli because of his fear of unpleasant textures. He's finally able to start keeping up with other kids on a playground, and can finally jump on a trampoline after years of being unable to. They're helping him live moments of childhood that should be happy for him and not stressful- and for that, I'm beyond thankful. I can confidently say that at Little Steps I know that my son is not just a number in their list of patients- they truly care about him and will advocate for his absolute best interests.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would…read more Parents please stay away from this place. They will push hours and refuse to cut hours even if it's too much for your child. Literally because we wanted to reduce hours for the benefit of my son they told us we would be "discharged". This was after frequent SIB and a neurologist suggesting to cut hours. This is after giving them over 7,000 dollars. They refused to work with us or even try to reduce hours! Also BCBA came here on Fridays for a hour and did nothing but try to push hours and talk. She was supposed to be helping us with daily living skills and she did none of that. We wasted about 8 or 9 months there and lots of $$. Stay away from Karen the BCBA and this whole place. They care about money not what is best for the child

Very unfortunately, I must update my review for NSPT to one star. I've used them for 4 years and…read morehave never been charged a cancellation fee. My daughter had to suddenly cancel telehealth therapy to be tested for COVID and they charged me $50 for that. I very politely and respectfully asked them to waive this one cancellation fee with agreement to be as careful as possible to not miss appointments in the future, and they refuse. (My daughter does therapy 5 days a week, so it is incredibly difficult to not ever miss a therapy visit with less than 24 hours notice.) My two children have done intensive therapy with them 5 days a week since late 2016 (see my earlier review). We have been faithful and supportive clients and have gone along with all of the COVID-related changes without complaining or arguing. I'm just aghast that they don't value their relationship with us after all this time, that in the middle of a pandemic, this is the hill they choose to die on.
