Centerra Ranch Montessori School has been delightful! Our first interaction with the school was in February 2022 when my husband and I called to inquire about their Nido/Infant program. The Director, Mrs. Michelle, was so lovely, welcoming and patient. She answered numerous questions about the school, programs and enrollment process despite not having an appointment. She even was able to accommodate an in-person tour the following day. The next day we arrived for our in-person tour (during COVID). Mrs. Michelle met us at the door and had a personalized greeting sign for us when we walked in. By the end of the tour, we were so impressed by the school, teachers and staff that we proceeded to enroll our son on-site. The facility isn't the newest, but the teachers and staff were so respectful and attentive with the children - we even noticed that they greet and say goodbye to EVERY child by name which just shows how involved they are. Our son is now six months and has been loving the program. If you are considering them, I'd recommend giving them a try. Admittedly the Yelp and Facebook reviews made me slightly nervous. However, they are older and don't do justice to the school now under new leadership. read more

Parents of ENROLLED STUDENTS: If your preschool+ son (possibly 5-8yrs) was wearing a striped shirt (white and light pink) on July 29. The classroom facing the front desk with the teacher with thick black glasses; I saw her aggressively grab and pinch his arm while reprimanding him, she shoved him to the side all while not knowing I was watching her while speaking to the lady at the front desk. When I called it out they said I was "making stuff up" and that "all parents don't complain" but I saw the front desk lady give the teacher a LOOK as if warning her to stop because I was watching her. Ask your child themselves about this incident because I see now why they refuse to have cameras inside the classrooms and outside the play area, this is a very BIG RED FLAG. And your children's safety is not something to bargain with. I will be reporting this to the state as well. They became very hostile once I told them I did not want to enroll my toddler due to the lack of cameras and they claimed it was "parents" who requested all cameras to be removed from their centers but that one incident was enough for me to understand why they truly have it like that. I'm really hoping this reach is his parents because behavior like this is extremely concerning from a teacher dealing with children. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this daycare. I often picked up my child with food still crusted on his face, and I witnessed a teacher yelling at kids in front of parents--raising serious concerns about how children are treated when no one is watching. On top of that, my child was left in a soiled diaper during nap time more than once. The lack of care and professionalism made me deeply uncomfortable, and I've since pulled my children from the center. I would not recommend this daycare based on our experience. read more

This school is the greatest decision and thing we could have ever done for our son. The teachers and staff are so supportive and wonderful. They truly care and create such a great atmosphere for the kids to grow and learn. I can't recommend this school enough to family and friends. Love this school! My daughters have been there since they were 4 months old and 2.5 years old. They both absolutely love going to school and love all of their teachers. I would not trust just anybody to watch a child that is 4 months old but they did a wonderful job with her. She is now 1.5 and loves them even more!!! Definitely recommend this place. read more

From the start, communication with the director was contradictory and disorganized. My child has learning challenges and was expected to perform tasks independently that he was never instructed on how to complete. After I withdrew my child from the school, I was emailed a list of "issues" with my child, all of which were things any child in this age group would do such as talking to himself during the work cycle, lifting his head up during nap time and taking supplies from other students. These behaviors require redirection and many of the issues outlined to me by the director were a result of the class needing a teaching aid to accommodate the number of kids in the class. Had an appointment and waited for Angeline for 30 minutes with my 3-year old in tow. We were ignored the entire time! From the moment we walked in, she acted like a snob. I attempted to sign in on the visitors sheet (Sign says "Visitors must sign in") she scowled when I did what sign said. Never mind we made an appointment ahead of time. Never mind her friendly voice on the phone. In person, she made the worst impression. No way I would enroll my child at Centerra Ranch Montessori. And from other reviews, it sounds like she's not just rude but also untrustworthy. read more

An update: Received the following note from the daughter of the owner... not going to justify this with a response, only including because it illustrates the nature of my experience. "You are only upset because you wanted the school to break policy which is in the handbook and school calendar given every fall for the year. Many front office staff and teachers have witnesses you throw mutiple adult temper tantrums and because she was told no so you left You even lied on a teacher that was out very very ill . You said she told you the school would be open on a day it was scheduled close ! Who does that ? A selfish person that wants her way and will do anything to get her way!We absolutely adored your baby girl and still do. None of our policy had anything negative to do with her nor does it with any child! After one year you randomly decide to post a ad which is full of lies. I am very happy with this school, and I am not merely a prospective client: I have been a Montessori parent of two kids for 2 years now, and am proud of this school, its great staff, and the level of education my children have had. My son, who graduated last year, was reading first grade books at age four. While some reviewers seem to expect this to be just a regular day-care, accommodating exceptions and bending rules (and I truly feel for working parents--I am one myself) this is not Kids R Kids and some things are rigid to be equally fair to all. This is school. With it come things like discipline, rules, uniforms, community, a sense of identity, friends, and more importantly, values. It is also a family run business which started small but has gone to great extent in securing the best resources-people wise-for the community it serves. I sometimes feel Katy has fostered some who think education should come in the form of an ipad, a 60" flatscreen and 24/7 video monitoring. Then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion. CRMS' staff goes to great extent to ensure the best education for my children. I am very fond of CRMS' very qualified staff: teachers who *adore* our sons and daughters (more than evident if you sat through the parent-teacher meeting). You may like some things more than others. I visited several Montessoris and other places before choosing CRMS, and there will always be nuances here and there: things you like a little more in one place than the other. But overall CRMS is a well rounded option, and I would choose it again any time. But don't take my word: look around for yourself, and ask the parents who have been long-time clients before making a decision. read more

My son has been attending this Montessori school since December 2014, so a little over 3 years now. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and genuinely care about the little ones. The school is very structured and organized, which I love because my kiddo does better with consistency. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with the classrooms as well, so if you're a parent that likes to volunteer definitely speak up; teachers are super accommodating! read more

We recently visited Centerra Ranch Montessori School purely to explore options with regards to childcare for our 3 1/2 year old son who has flourished in Montessori. The owner, Angeline Auzenne, gave us the tour of the facility. Starting there, with the facility, we were very disappointed. The rooms were all VERY small compared to competing businesses in the greater Katy area, especially when as many as twelve 3-6 year olds were to be in the toddler classes. Ms. Auzenne also seemed keen on the fact that she required uniforms, yes, uniforms for her Montessori facility. Making comment that she wanted a level playing field for children and that she didn't wish to have a child with a $20 shirt "judging" a child with a $7.99 shirt. Although, they were allowed non uniform clothing for their second outfits of the day should they need them. This was a red flag for me, as someone who deals with children of this 3-6 year old age range quite regularly as an involved father, I have far more witnessed them concerned with which Disney or superhero character was on their clothing and not to terribly concerned with the price tag of the garment. She (Ms. Auzenne) additionally did not have a great deal of literature to share with us, so I took it upon myself to take 2 pictures of documents with my phone, an 8.5x11" laminated 3-5 year old daily schedule and an 8.5x11" weekly snack time schedule, as we were not instructed that no pictures were allowed to be taken. She asked me what I was photographing and if children's names were in view, and I informed her accordingly (obviously no children's names were present). A WEEK later, she emailed me telling me she had issue with these pictures, and asking me to delete them. Her tone was snide to say the least and she referenced a "Legal Team". Yes, you read that right... Needless to say, we will not be sending our child to a facility with an owner who has issue with us wishing to have information that directly concerns our child. We are perspective clients of the business, you would think a small business owner would be willing and happy to share such information. Or at the very least be an intelligent business owner and state up front that she has issue with photography by parents of prospective students. She expressed concern for the privacy and SAFETY of the students. As if the names above coat hooks would somehow jeopardize these children's safety. Meanwhile, she has names of students on parent reviews on the "school's" website! And, gasp, pictures of CHILDREN! I'm sure they were advertising models or stock images though so I'm sure their safety is not compromised... Oh, and the school has a FACEBOOK page where children's pictures are shown when viewing the page as "public"!!! Additionally, I was taken aback by her attitude whilst giving the tour. I'm not sure what is in the coolaide at this establishment but rest assured, we won't be drinking it... read more

I thought a lot before writing this review but I really wanted to share my unpleasant experience with Centerra Ranch Montessori School with all those parents out there like that myself are looking for the best place to leave their kids. As a parent of a 2 years old boy I was looking for a place where I would feel comfortable and sure that my son was going to feel like at home. After visiting Centerra Ranch Montessori School I was sure that it was the perfect place. Because I was so in love with the place I failed to pay attention to the "red lights" that I was exposed to ( parents complaining about the director Mrs. Angeline not being AT ALL in the school-her answer" I'm available on my cell-phone". Parents were complaining that no one was at the front desk during drop off/pick up times, and they were upset that the school was going to be closed too many days for hollidays so they wanted some money to be reimbursed. I have to be honest, when I heard all those complaints and after reading the "response letter" that Mrs. Angeline wrote regarding those complaints, I really thought that these parents were judging her unfairly and that they just were too complicated. Also a really nice and talented professor(every parent had a good word for her) quit the school because she did not feel comfortable with the way Mrs. Angeline treated her. When I heard that, I was sure that the one with the issues was the professor. I could not believe that Mrs. Angeline would ever treat someone like that....I really thought she was a very mature, professional person. Unfortunately, I WAS WRONG!!!!!This lady Mrs. Angeline, the head director of Centerra Ranch Montessori School, has some anger management problems. She is so unprofessional in every aspect that I cannot believe that a person like that can own a business where your primary customers are KIDS! WHY??? On October 30 I was called by the receptionist Mrs. Cynthia that I needed to pick up my son because he was ill ( he had 2 diharrias). When I picked him up I was not given any form of notification by the professor or the receptionist ( the owner was not there as usual) that my son could not attend the next day Halloween activities. My son was feeling good for the rest of the day without any diharrias incidents. The next day, October 31 2013, My son and I arrived the school in costumes very excited for the fun day( I volunteered with other moms to do some fun games and activities for the kids that day) . As I enter the school, the receptionist tells me that my son could not be there, when I asked WHY?? She answered "because he was sick the day before" ,without referring to any school policy. So I asked to speak to Mrs.Angeline because I did not understand what was the issue. Mrs.Angeline arrived into my son's classroom, and in a very rude tone ORDERED me to leave the school because I was violating a school policy. She told me that my son was reported with diahrreas 2 days in a row and she asked me to clear the room( exact words). I tried to explain her that there was a communication issue because no one had told me about my son being sick the day before. So I asked the teacher to get involved trying to find out what was going on. To my surprise a teacher from another class pops up saying that she was the one that change my son's diaper the day before the incident was reported ( October 29) and that she even went to show the diaper to the director ( RED FLAG---what kind of teacher goes and shows a dirty diaper to a school director.???? And besides she wasn't even my son's teacher). Mrs. Angeline kept telling me to leave the school and finally closed the door on my face without caring about my son being there crying all dressed up in his costume nor that I was volunteering for her school activity. Honestly I am very disappointed with Mrs. Angeline attitude towards the situation. I don't have a problem with the policy, but she should not have assume that I knew it and she needed to make sure that I was notified about not bringing my son the next day, specially if there is a holiday festivity. She could have asked me to go to her office and in another tone we could have talked about the issue instead of treating my son and I in such a rude and unprofessional way. I couldn't get over this awful situation, I wasn't feeling comfortable anymore leaving my son in Centerra Ranch Montessori School so I decided to give her a one month in advance withdrawal as required per her policy to get the deposit back. To my surprise again, when I went to pick up my son, the teacher had all my son's belonging ready and packed and a note was left at the front desk saying that my son was not welcomed in the school anymore.Mrs. Angeline was not there to talk to me, to give me my deposit and to do things the proper and professional way that you would expect from a Montessori School. I came by this afternoon hoping to get a tour or just to see the premises. My family is in search of a Montessori school to place our 18 month in. No one came to the door to even greet me. I then called requesting to see if I could get a packet or view the premises with my toddler in tow. I was told that for the safety of the children I was not allowed to tour at this time. My schedule is really jam packed and have not been able to tour in the mornings. I felt that this was very inconsiderate and rude. This place must have something to hide or don't need business. We visited Centerra Ranch Montessori School back in May along with 3 other Montessori schools in the area, in regards to a pre-school for my 3 year old grandson. Ms. Auzenne, who I believe introduced herself as "Head of School" and later own as the owner of the establishment, was very pleasant and gave us an unbelievable sales pitch on how the children blossom under her program. We came back after our school tours and based on the sales pitch, and the school very clean and organized appearance, decided as a family that this was the place for my grandson. We paid our registration fee and were told that this would reserve a spot for him for an August start but couldn't be given an exact date just yet. We agreed to wait until August, and used the 3 months (May to August) to feed my grandson's excitement about going to school to make sure it was an enjoyable experience. The owner seemed a bit disorganized but had us fill out a short form and send us on our way saying that she would be in touch with more forms to fill out. We NEVER heard from heard from her. So sometime in July my kids went back to the school to inquire about the forms and eventually got them, filled them out and turned them in. I found it peculiar that she never send the forms but thought maybe is just that time of the year when things get a bit crazy. Finally, the first day of school arrives, so we thought, and my grandson wakes up with a light fever...oh, no........His parents contacted the school to let them know and Ms. Auzenne informed them that they must wait 48 hours before bringing him to school and that this is the school policy.....awesome, I thought..... I was really impressed and please by that rule, so we honored it and reported 2 days later as requested.....except that when the family shows up to the school they were turned away!!... It turns out that Ms. Auzenne had send an email the night before telling them that because of the delay they now had to wait until October!!!....of course she would not come to the door to apologize or clarify any misunderstanding, and instead sends others to deliver the bad news. who sends an email after 9 PM the night before to deliver an important message like this? what happened with a good old fashion phone call? Why did she hide? To watch a 3 year old scream and cry because he feels the rejection is disheartening, but to watch teachers (or perhaps babysitters) not be moved by the emotion display, offer an apology, or at least an explanation, is really scary and disappointing. What kind of person is this Ms. Auzenne? Why subject a child and his family to such a bad experience? Is it that due to the her lack of organization skills she lost track of the people she accepted and had no room left? We'll never know the answer to any of this questions because she never bothered to return phone calls or respond to e-mails, asking for clarifications. Our take away from this experience was that we couldn't trust someone so disorganized, unprofessional, and careless with the care of my grandson. I'm glad we discovered this now and not by some accident cause by any of these bad traits. read more

Our daughter has been attending Centerra Ranch Montessori School ("CRMS") for 3 years. We absolutely love the whole team there. The new owners, administration, teachers and staff are all attentive, experienced, thoughtful, and caring. Our daughter has benefited tremendously from her time at CRMS and she has grown so much during her time there, we are so happy we discovered CRMS. She absolutely loved going to school each and every day. We will all miss the team at CRMS dearly, as our daughter "graduates" to public school this year. read more

I am the Director of Centerra Ranch Montessori School and I rate us a 4 out of 5 since there is always room for improvement. Our little school is welcoming and our parents and students are quite close. The same as other preschools we feel strongly that our students leave us prepared for school academically and social emotionally. The thing that makes us different is they also leave us having participated in various philanthropic projects, being mentored by teachers with old time morals, strong little leaders, and a high regard for their community. They will have enjoyed organic meals during their enrollment and learned how to grow organic produce in their garden. As the Director of this special and private Montessori School I am the first to say we are not perfect. I am also extremely comfortable with saying we are not at all what has been posted on various sites by previous parents that I have simply had to say "NO" to or who may have never even attended this CRMS. Heartbreaking is what it is! The beauty is "Karma" has it's way of working things out and once more CRMS is to capacity come this fall school year. We are blessed and we wish peace to those that may not yet have found it. read more

Customers be aware. Angeline would not refund my deposit. My son spent only one day in this school. Angeline sent the enrollment package with the details about the deposit and fees only after the first day of school and we have never signed it. She still wants to keep the deposit in addition to one month tuition fee and registration. This place is more of a prison than a school, with little rooms and small outdoor space, little open sky , high fences and shady rules. "Transition room" where your kid will spend at least 3-4 months is overcrowded for its size. Angeline runs the prison without common sense just a blind obedience for the policies she created. I did not have a good experience bringing my children to this school. Owner is very challenging to deal with. Policies are shady and always changing to accommodate last minute decisions. We did not have control over classroom shifts. Very poor communication on many levels. It was a poor choice for us. read more

The school is very nice and in all honesty ran very well by the director but Angeline is a very difficult person to deal with and I dont know if it was exclusive to us but her attitude is not very professional or customer friendly. It totally depends what mood you catch her in, if she is in a good mood you will love your experience if you catch her in a bad mood it will be a bad day. She is not flexible to adjust working parents schedule. We did not have a good experience here sorry to say if she can change her attitude this indeed would be a very nice place. read more

Our family was blessed to discover Centerra Ranch Montessori School in its beginning stages and enrolled our daughter, then 3, in August 2012 (after a year, I would strongly encourage prospective families to only consider opinions of families who have some tenure with the school--not those who have "visited" once). We have been so completely pleased with our experience at CRMS. Our daughter, who is the youngest of four children, has blossomed so much in thanks to her time at school and really come into her own. It is very obvious that she is receiving manners education, and her academic gains have amazed us as well. We feel really great about the nutrition program and high level of quality she receives in meals, and were thrilled with the field trip students took to observe a kitchen, discuss healthy and organic food choices, and make their own pizzas. Our daughter loves every moment she spends at CRMS and is never in a hurry to leave! More than anything, she loves her dedicated teachers, and her director, Ms. Angeline, as do we. We couldn't feel more strongly that she is very safe and well-cared for during her time at CRMS, nor could she be getting a more well-rounded early education. I recommend Centerra Ranch Montessori to other families every chance I have. read more

My daughter has been in the Bridge class for 2 years now. I couldn't be happier with our experiences here. She has grown so much as a student, I'm thoroughly impressed with her growth, not only as a student, but as a person as well! I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with the owner and staff. This is a small, locally owned (non-franchised, non "chain") Montessori school, the owner is readily available to enrolled parents to answer questions or concerns via text/phone call/email. This place is like Riker's Island for children. Very small classrooms, teachers that turn-over faster than cashiers at McDonalds (and some that barely speak English), and very little time spent outdoors with the typical excuse being that they don't have enough staff to take the kids out. Our children (and those of about three other families that left with us to another school) are much happier. Keep away from this place. Everything in the negative reviews found here, especially Sarah's, we've also experienced and are completely true. We had to lie to Angeline when we decided to leave (we told her we were moving across town) so that she wouldn't vindictively kick us out immediately (as Sarah describes in her post) rather than give us a month before the kids could start their new school. They want robots here, not children. This place is awful, and I know that now after having had our kids somewhere else. UPDATE: When Angeline, the owner, saw my post on another review site, she wrote my wife an email with the subject line "Idiot". LOL read more
