We have been with Centra and Karate For All about 8 months now, Dr. Karen for PT, she is very skilled and experienced! My daughter went in with a very tight neck that has been hinder her from doing things! In a short 8 months of massaging once a week for a 30 minutes session we have seem a HUGE improvement on her neck, now she can jump freely without holding anything and very well balanced! Highly recommended! Ms. Iris and Ms. Dorothy, helped my daughter with OT and feeding, she went in eating half of the McDonald cheese burger on the good days and now she is able to finish a sourdough grill cheese sandwich from Jack in the Box at least 5 times a week! Her fine motor and gross motor has also improved significantly! Sensei Michael, he knows his Karate. He is always patiently with my daughter, he has helped her with her confidence, now she is no longer need me holding her at the playground all the time. read more

I can't speak highly enough of my son's OT Iris. My son had struggled with a severe solid food aversion since he was a baby when we were first paired with Iris; he was only tolerating liquid nutrition. We'd seen numerous therapists at several other facilities who'd tried all different methods to help him, with no discernible progress, leaving them at a loss. Iris was different from the beginning. She took the time to listen to a detailed history of my son's situation, and she asked questions far beyond his eating habits, to really get to know his full picture. I couldn't believe how personalized of a plan she created for my son. She was spot-on in her delivery of therapy, making him instantly comfortable, and she has given me tools to implement at home that create consistency across the board. I'm still amazed that she doesn't know my son outside of therapy, because she speaks to his personality and anxieties and they truly connect. Therapist Brandon is awesome! He knows how to connect with kids and does not go through the motions like other therapist in the past. This was the fourth place I had brought my son to for feeding therapy and he has made the most progress here by a landslide. It is unfortunate that this place receives positive reviews for the services and what brings it down is their front office and how they treat new patients. We were referred to this place by a family friend and my son had his application submitted back in March 2022, waited till May 2022 for his first visit/assessment and then we had summer travel planned for June/July 2022, so they informed us that he will have to go back to the waiting list and we agreed to do so. By August 2022 we informed Centra Pediatric that we wish to restart his services, they took very long time to get back to us and match our availability with any therapist and by the time we found a match (October 2022) we were told that they will have to secure another authorization from our medical insurance although it was still active till November 2022. After another 2 months of wait (Jan 2023), we were told that the authorization is still pending, I called my insurance and they told me to find somewhere else to go as not to delay his OT therapy progress. I was never able to understand why would the kid be denied services if authorization is still active, and if Centra actually submitted anything.. My insurance confirmed they have NOT received the authorization request from them. We actually went with my insurance's advice, however the other place was a waste of time, we saw no progress and we had doubts about his progress so we asked our insurance to make another authorization for Centra and we started the process again (September 2023) . Again, my son was put on a wait list. We kept calling to check the status until November 2023 but the front desk started giving us no useful information like they wouldn't tell us his position on the wait list, and every time we ask they would tell us they will check and come back but they never did, until I realized I had to pay them a visit. I went to the center and after some rude exchange with the supervisor, she mentioned they will have an opening soon. They sent me a text message November 30th 2023 with an opening and I responded on Dec 1st that I am ok with that time. I never heard back from them till today (August 2024) read more

Wonderful, clean & well equipped therapy center, with kind, understanding, professional staff. I brought our 17 month old daughter here because she is not quite walking independently and our pediatrician recommended this center. The therapist, Megan, did an exceptional job at making our daughter's PT appointment fun and activity filled--- our daughter was smiling the entire session, as if it was just playtime! But the session was extended productive. The feedback from Megan the therapist was helpful, insightful and encouraging. My son received his black belt this past weekend after 6 years. I have never seen him so proud of himself. He definitely had to earn it as Sensei Wayne said from the beginning that black belts are not just given away. Not only did he receive a black belt but on his journey he acquired self confidence, assistant with social skills such as looking others in the eye, speaking assertively, skills for conversation, bully awareness, self discipline, and so much more. We were referred to Centra by another physical therapist that worked for Harbor Regional Center. My daughter was doing physical therapy over zoom last year and we thought in person would be better for her developmental delays. We are so glad that we were able to get appointments for my daughter in speech, occupational and physical therapy here. It's a far drive from where we live but we love this place so much that we are willing to make the drive. Lili at the front desk has been amazing to us. She has always updated us on any changes to the appointments or any makeup appointments they have open. They always respond back to us regarding any questions we have in a timely matter. Everyone who works at Centra have been welcoming and very friendly to my whole family. We are so thrilled to have Karen (physical therapist) in our daughter's life. When we first attended Centra late last year, my daughter was barely crawling. Now this year after going to therapy twice a week my daughter is finally walking. It was definitely a team effort that has paid off if you put in the work at home that is asked. My daughter also sees Ceci (occupational therapy) once a week. In the beginning she couldn't drink out of a sippy cup or use utensils. With Ceci's help she drinks out of a sippy and open cup and can use a fork and spoon to feed herself. She still has some work to do about perfecting her pincher grasp and using her utensils but we have seen major improvements since taking her to occupational therapy. Lastly, my daughter gets speech therapy once a week with Kristen Eelkema. She started seeing her in late April and is slowly trying to make sounds or gestures. We haven't gone to speech therapy long enough to see drastic improvements yet but have noticed a difference in our daughter's attempt to make sounds and communicate with us. This is a long review but I want to be thorough to help other parents out there avoid this place and the terrible experience we had to go through to help our child. We reached out to Centra months back for an assessment. They were unorganized and each time seemed to forget initial conversations and information we already provided them. I was checking in with them weekly to see if an opening was available for our child. Their responses were rude and short. Finally I started checking in every other day to see about cancellations and any changes that would allow us an opening. I then after months of waiting for an appt, received a text saying they would not be able to see my child or help him and suggested I take my child to see therapist. How could they possibly know what is best for my son without ever meeting and assessing him? I was so upset. I had a call with the supervisor Kristina who was incredibly rude and continued to deny my child a chance to be assessed at their location. I felt this was discriminatory and when I said that, she finally agreed to see him. I couldn't believe I was begging an occupational therapy group to see my child! What on earth was happening?! About a week later, they had a cancellation and gave me less than 24 hours notice but I took it and made it work. They then sent me links to about 50 pages of forms, questions, etc. for me to complete by the appointment. I don't understand why they wouldn't supply this to me ahead of time so I could complete so many documents over the course of many days but again, went along with the overall customer service and lack of organization I had experienced from the staff from day one. We came to the assessment which lasted under an hour. There was about 4 minutes left where the OT allowed me to share concerns. 4 minutes, that's it. The assessment seemed very bare bones. I was then told it would be 2 weeks max to receive the report. 2 weeks went by. 3 weeks went by. I reached out each week to check in and was given rude answers about new ETAs by the front office, always started with rude and passive aggressive "per our last text" and repeating what they already said with no new update. Finally after the 4th week I requested a new ETA and the office staff refused to give me an update. It was then I realized this group did not care about helping my son and it was time for me to find a place that actually cared. I requested a refund. I then received call from the owner Brittany who apologized profusely once she got wind of this treatment and the terrible experience and approved a refund. She was able to get my report done by the end of the day. I then scheduled an assessment at a new therapy location, Butterfly Therapies in Rancho Santa Margarita. It is farther away but let me tell you- worth every penny and miles driven! They are incredible! Supportive, loving, caring, compassionate, organized, on top of every aspect of how to help our child. Just an example of the difference, the report from Centra was 50% of the report thoroughness that we received from Butterfly Therapies (Butterfly therapists report was 16 pages long, so thorough, helpful and full of ways they would help my child). Lesson learned, follow your gut parents and I hope this saves you from the emotional turmoil of fighting for a place to help your child and instead leads you to a place where you know you will be welcomed and helped! read more

They're not invested in children's best interest, and the owner is Yelp obsessed and asks customers repeatedly to post good things on Yelp, but doesn't ask about your satisfaction or your child's. When my son began karate at Karate For All with Sensei Wayne Centra, Sensei Brandon, and Sensei Jerry, he was 5 years old. A sensitive, imaginative, and curious child, he was also manifesting anxiety and emotion dysregulation. He was identified as intellectually gifted, which added challenging layers and dimensions to his world. While enjoying karate, he also struggled at first, becoming easily distressed, unfocused, and dysregulated. Sensei Wayne, Sensei Brandon, Sensei Jerry, and all the staff and volunteers at Karate For All were truly - truly- there for him. They got to know him, recognized and reinforced his strengths, and guided him through regulating his emotions. They would actually sit with him when he became distressed and helped him work through it, and incredibly personalized, sincere, and caring interaction. They taught him and the rest of the class how to navigate bullying, endured children felt emotionally safe and could achieve this feeling outside of karate, and provided support and education for parents as well. They provided ample opportunity and guidance for successful social interaction inside and outside of karate. And, In addition to all of this, he learned karate! During the pandemic, we struggled as a high risk family. Sensei Wayne, Sensei Brandon, and Sensei Jerry provided us and all other families in similar situations with virtual karate lessons online, finding time and energy to work with us this way for as long as we needed. They never left or abandoned my son, at a time when he felt forgotten by so many other institutions and individuals. Words can't describe how much this meant to us. This past week, after six years, my son achieved his black belt. He was amazing. He has grown so much technically and emotionally, and truly embodies what it means to be a black belt in all realms of the concept. And Sensei Wayne, Sensei Brandon, and Sensei Jerry we're all there to welcome him into the black belt community. It was a poignant and immensely meaningful experience, and I am forever grateful. Our experience has been terrific. My son has transformed since beginning at Centra Pediatric Occupational Therapy. When we started the karate program he was painfully shy and wouldn't enter the classroom. After working one on one with a therapist he joined the group. Two years later he was leading the whole class in warm ups. In the class he learned social skills, discipline and respect. He has become outgoing and confident. At the beginning my son only ate the same few foods and refused to try anything new. The food class was amazing. In the class he tried a dozen new foods. Now he occasionally requests to try foods he hasn't had before. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is! Wayne Centra has decades of experience. He is a true professional with a heart of gold. To start I love the new facilities that Centra Pediatric just moved to! The variety of rooms, environments, and equipment available is superior to any occupational therapy office I have seen. Wayne Centra and the therapists at Centra Pediatric are the best around! They use purposeful goal oriented activities to make the process fun while enhancing a child's occupational performance. Wayne Centra is the Director and has his Masters in Occupational Therapy as well as 14 years experience! He is also an Occupational Therapist for Children's Hospital of Orange County(CHOC) and has even won their Innovation Award for his unique program. I can't say enough good things Chris started working under Wayne's direction at the age of 4. He struggled with motor functions, emotional responses, group interaction, speech and so much more. After six years Christopher is 10 now and a shining example of how emotional, cognitive, occupational and speech therapy can make a world of difference. With the help of Wayne Centra's Therapy a child once diagnosed as Autistic and in designated special needs classes at school can within 3 years turn into a mainstream student with great emotional control, impressive social skills and a drive to help humanity and the world. You would not know that Chris spent his first 3 years in school with a class of 10 students and 4 aids. I wish every family struggling could feel the relief of effective Therapy. The most amazing part to us is how well rounded the program is. My 10 year old son has been doing OT with Sensei Wayne since he was 3 years old. We love Sensei Wayne! He is very knowledgeable and truly cares about each and every kiddo that walks through the door. My kiddo has progressed leaps and bounds and looks forward to OT every week! Wayne really knows how to combine "work" and fun so that my kiddo often doesn't even realize he is working....he thinks he's just playing and having a great time. My son also recently started speech with Ms. Jill, who is fantastic!!!! My son has been seeing Iris for Occupational Therapy. Specifically to deal with his "food issues". Upon meeting him, you wouldn't think he had any issues with food. He's a healthy 4 year old. However, my son would not eat anything that was yellowish in color. If you asked him to eat it, then he would gag and throw up. He also couldn't chew or swallow soft foods. Iris has been working with my son since May 2014 and I'm happy to say that he ate mac-n-cheese and eggs. Iris is extremely patient, yet effective in helping my son with his "food issues". My son, who has recently turned 3 years old in January, has been at Centra Pediatric Therapy since he was 2 and a half years old. He has been followed by Iris for Occupational Therapy. She is an amazing occupational therapist for both feeding and sensory integration therapy. We have been seeing her because my son has severe sensory problems, as well as being an extremely picky eater. My son would ONLY eat mac n cheese and Dino nuggets. That's not enough for a growing two year old!! He spend many hours crying around meal times. I was so panicked and had no clue of how to even begin to help him until I met Iris. Now, he has begun to eat apples, chicken, broccoli and carrots. We have been to one other facility since his diagnosis. By far, Centra Pediatric Therapy has been a tremendous help. My son, who turned four years old in May, has been attending occupational therapy with Holly at Centra Pediatrics since December of 2013. We have had nothing but consistent, positive experiences. My son has a feeding disorder secondary to Sensory Processing Disorder. Thankfully, he is not malnourished, and I know that he is growing, but it was embarrassing that he was thriving on mainly sugar and carbs. Before Centra, my husband brought him to two OTs at different organizations who claimed they had feeding experience. Simply after one appointment with Holly, my doubts were confirmed in that the past two from different organizations did not have much experience. Unfortunately, my husband was so skeptical after the first two OTs that he gave up on subsequent feeding therapy. In retrospect, I was grateful that Centra's front desk personnel were polite and persistent in calling me to set up the first appointment and that I decided to take one more leap of faith. During the initial conversation, I was quick to ask if the OTs had feeding experience. The young lady confidently stated that the owner, Wayne Centra, and the other OT have 10 - 20 years. When I told my husband, he asked, "Do you really want to go through that again?" I am so glad that I said yes. During our first appointment with Holly, I was very impressed with the compassion, empathy, professionalism, and wealth of knowledge she shared. I am sure she has "seen it all"; Holly began the feeding program at Loma Linda University many years ago, and she continues to work on the feeding team at CHOC. With that being said, I know that my son is by far not the worst case, but I appreciated that she did not pass judgment when I initially reported back with guilt that all he practically ate was ice-cream and cookies and that we co-sleep which very likely exacerbated his sleeping disorder. I know I should not feel guilty or embarrassed, but a part of it is because of my profession. In the past, I employed a behavior therapy approach to feeding my son, but I was always conflicted because I truly believe that ABA is not the be all and end all for everything especially when it comes to feeding and sensory needs. Obviously, if an ABA approach had worked for my son, I would not have sought additional professional assistance. Since December, Holly has made my husband and family believers. (My family is Taiwanese so feeding disorders and SPD do not exist, but children who are picky and spoiled because of the parents fault.) If you know anything about SPD and feeding disorders, any bite of a new food is a cause for celebration...and every Saturday, my son tries new foods with Holly. She makes it fun for my son, which is important especially at a younger age. I also appreciate how structured the sessions are and the parent education and counseling she provides. My son has expanded his confidence and trust in trying new foods, and he is now eating a wider variety of vegetables, fruits, and healthier snacks. (Our next challenge is eating meat.) Holly has even gotten him to try Brussels sprouts on several occasions, if that tells you anything! (Other vegetables that my son has at least tried or mastered: mini bell peppers, yellow tomatoes, French beans, cabbage, zucchini, patty pan squash, yellow squash, bean sprouts, baby carrots, cucumbers). I count my blessings that I was able to secure an appointment on Saturdays so that I can be involved and my son can receive assistance where he makes observable and measurable gains. Lastly, everyone that I come into contact with there is very friendly. We frequently run into Mr. Centra, who takes the time - in between teaching big classes of karate - to ask how my son is doing. His wife also checks in with us from time to time to see how we are doing. The center also provides speech therapy and physical therapy. read more

When your 6 year old boys ASK for more sessions the their favorite therapist by name - you know you've found a gem therapist!! Excellent comprehensive OT program and services! Our twin boys (6 yrs old now) have been working with OT therapist IRIS LIN for the past few years. Love her family / whole child approach to build OT skills using every day living situations. Not being an athletic person at all (couch potato!) I'm not in the know on motor skills, muscle development, sensory integration, vestibular input. It's totally foreign to me.... Thankfully, Iris routinely takes the time to explain / demonstrate what each OT activity is designed to do and brainstorms as to how you (parent) can help their kids apply such "therapy activities" in their daily routines -- which helps parents reinforce and replicate OT skills in between sessions. Add to the above -Centra Pediatrics "social thinking" approach - implemented in all of their programs. Tried to enroll my daughter for OT. They told me only 9 am on Tuesday was available. They told me I had to be on a wait list till some one dropped. They told me done one might be canceling on weekends in May, this was April. They have never called me back. Another place offered to accommodate on weekends so I transferred there. This is a wonderful place that offers Occupational Therapy for children with developmental needs. Centra Pediatric Therapy not only offers the occupational piece, but as parents we are given tools, techniques, support groups, references, and doctor recommendations to help our child . Sensei Wayne wants to make sure the kids he sees are given every opportunity to succeed in life. My son has been going to Centra Pediatric Therapy for almost two years now. When he first started working with Sensei Wayne, our son was unable to stay focused in a classroom setting, unable to write clear sentences and was unaware in social settings. Thanks to Sensei Wayne's passion and dedication to the children he helps, our son is more focused, can write paragraphs unassisted, has made friends and overall has become a more confident kid. Words cannot describe how thankful we are for Sensei Wayne, his staff and volunteers. read more

I cannot say enough good things about our speech therapist, Jill. She has helped our son make such great progress in his expressive language in such a short amount of time. She is kind, patient, and so knowledgeable. She has also helped us find further services to benefit our son, including attending karate at Karate for All before his speech speech class, which helps him calm his body and be better focused during speech. Sensei Wayne is amazingly gifted and dedicated Occupational Therapist and Karate instructor! Our Pediatric Neurologist recommended occupational therapy-based Karate instruction at his dojo for our twins who are developmentally-delayed in speech/motor skills and on the Autism spectrum. Our twins have made great progress in their gross motor skills and take pride in their accomplishments in the dojo! Also, Miss Iris/Miss Dorothy are gifted Occupational Therapists who are helping our sons overcome severe texture/taste sensitivities which have restricted their diets. We are so grateful for finding Centra Pediatric Therapy, they have made a tremendous positive impact on our sons' lives! read more

I can't say enough about this place !!! The staff is beyond caring, professional and KIND!! Miss Iris is a gem. Andres is an amazing coach. My son is obsessed with them. She has helped him so much. He's made so much progress since he's started and it's because of them. We will always cherish this place. read more
