First , the technician was great. I was sure it was a capacitor that went bad in my outside unit. It was Friday afternoon and they said they would try to get to me the same day, but the scheduler called and said it would be the next day. No problem, I was charges a 95.00 trip fee. I have no problem with that. After the technician looked over the unit he said it was indeed the capacitor. He also said my contactor was not working as it should. I told him to replace both. They charges me $272.00 for a 15.00 capacitor!!!!!!! They charged me 363.00 for a 35.00 contactor!!!!!!!!!! Then he went upstairs and said there was a pipe that has come unattached and a small amount of moisture was on the plywood under the unit. He also said the last installation was not up to code as there was not enough room to walk around the unit. He went back to his truck and came back with a 4x4 piece of plywood and the glue for the pipe. He went into the attic with the plywood and glue. When coming back down I noticed that he left the plywood up there. Nice guy appreciate that. He finished and prepared the final bill. No charge to glue the pipe!!!! He charged me 95.00 for a 1/2 piece of plywood that was used and had oil stains on it!!!!!! I have not had to have work done on a HVAC unit in several years. I know prices have gone up, but THIS IS REDICULIUS. Maybe I am dreaming, but for someone to make that much money off parts .......... As I said the service fee and the technician were great. I will call around before choose a company to fix my HVAC. read more

Extremely disappointed with Central Carolina Air Conditioning. After a good first visit in spring 2024, my husband scheduled another appointment for 10/1/2025 and signed up for a one-year maintenance contract. That turned out to be a huge mistake. A follow-up appointment was scheduled for 11/13/2025. Around lunchtime we were told the part hadn't arrived and someone would call to reschedule. No one did. Two weeks later, my husband had to call again and another appointment was scheduled for 12/3/2025. On the morning of that appointment, we were once again told the part still hadn't come in. Twice we rearranged our schedules. Twice they failed to show up. Zero follow-up. Zero accountability. My husband has since called asking to speak with a manager and still hasn't received a call back. This level of service is unacceptable. We will not use this company again and absolutely do not recommend them. read more

I requested an electrician from Central Carolina Heating & Air Conditioning, and the electrician arrived on July 23, 2025. He replaced a timer for basement lights. Before the installation, he stated that the new timer would only cost $20 and would be easier to re-set than the old timer. I thought that was great until I was informed that for the work performed, the total was over $500!!! On the invoice there was no breakdown for labor or parts, just a flat fee which I never agreed to. I called the office person with no results. Bought a new system for the price of a used car. Worked great until winter came. Unit froze up!! Never seen this happen ever--and I lived 18 years in South Dakota! Now on emergency heat--$$$. Over a week now and we are waiting for a "part" apparently. Why does it take so long for a part. If you want to spend a ton of money on a system that's "high efficiency " but isn't, these guys are for you! read more

Decided to get a generac whole house generator. My wife and I are getting old and we probably should not be without power. Central carolina's quote was $5000. more than other installers. The individual they first sent out also did no know about instillation requirements for the generator. He pointed out places for instillation that the installer stated we could not do. I think they try to take advantage of old people like my wife and me. read more

This company cares nothing about their employees they send them on jobs with not enough help doing dangerous work or they don't have anybody to hold the ladder for them or to make sure they're not electrocuted they're just not a good company to work for. Unfortunately you must put a star for this. SO! We've had issues with our NEW! Less than a year old system! One of the Top of the line systems out of 3 that were presented to us! Energy efficient or so we was told! Unit. For a week now! Had them come out several times to work on our unit! We get 2 checks also with our contract! We are a comfort plus customer! Meaning majority if not ALL of our unit if it messes up is covered! But y'all....were already paying for that and then some! So! It's not free!! The man did a winter check and it was supposedly fine!! Well when we woke up weeks later it's cold as ice in our home with pets and LITTLE children mind you!!!!!!!! Didn't get someone out immediately. We had to be fixed into the scheduled as they have other clients. Ok sure. We needed some parts for our unit! Which some didn't know that til a dayish later due to another tech needed to see what was up! WHAT! This is brand new and guaranteed to be efficient??? We can't control things by no means! It's been a week since these parts have been ordered and due to the holidays still no sign of them! And y'all know when the heat pump isn't on what else is producing heat???? Your strips!!!!! Our bill continues to go up because there part warehouse doesn't have these parts in stock!!!! We're paying for that car on cement and a high electric bill coming here soon! We was hoping for maybe a discount of some kind? Gift card towards our bill or even the unit? And the GM was like your comfort plus it's already covering that??? What. We pay for that monthly anyway that's not what we are looking for. ‍ On a high note the HVAC techs that we have had are very good, communicative and seemed to know what they are doing! read more

When I tried to renew my service agreement, they refused, and I was flat out told that they did not want my business, despite having an excellent history with them (and my father held their service agreement for over 20 years.) February 15th of this year a technician from Central Carolina Air Condition serviced our heating system. At that time we were told that the heat exchanger had cracks in it and the system was unsafe and had to be replaced. A representative from the company came out and we received Two quotes ranging from $8,000 to $11,000.I was not comfortable with this. Instead we had a carbon monoxide detector installed. It has never gone off or indicated a problem. I just had this same unit serviced Wednesday October 12th. by a different company. They found nothing wrong with the heat exchanger. Be ware of there scare tactics. Saying a heat exchanger is in need of replacement when it is not sounds like their technicians must have a quota to meet. Don't trust an definitely verify. read more

BUYER BE AWARE OF THE PRICING OF THE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT. The was a variation of ten degrees between the temp. inside the house and air conditioning thermostat setting one Sunday night. I called CCAC early the next morning. I was informed that a $95 diagnostic charge would be incurred when someone comes out. A technician came to our house within the next hour- which was great! However, the diagnosis was that there needed to be replaced two capacitors- one in the inside unit and one in the outside unit. I received the following bill of 407.79 which broke down into the following: Gen126060 Replaced dual starter ($171.00), Gen1260015 Replaced starter ($116.00) and the $95.00 truck charge. The technician was there for an one hour- which included sitting in our kitchen coming up with bill. Simple googling on the computer brought up price ranges for the cost of the capacitors between $5-20 for which the field manager, Chris Miller, conceded at $20. Given that we were charged $287 for the installation of these two capacitors, and the fact that both capacitors were made easy access to by the $95.00 truck/diagnosis charge, the only labor left what to unwire the capacitors and hookup the new ones. Subtracting out the potential cost of the capacitors ($40), that leaves $247 above the cost. Not bad for one hour's work. But wait! It was brought to my attention that if we picked up the Maintenance Agreement, for a charge of $260, then the cost of putting in the two new capacitors would be reduced to $38 and $85 respectfully. The total charge for this method would be $408.85. For only a dollar more, we could have a maintenance agreement with two cleanings during the year. I would not do business with this company again. Not only were their charges excessive, in my opinion, but their approach to selling a Maintenance Agreement was conditioned on making the prices of installing parts so absurd, that it makes the Maintenance Agreement look attractive. The house is cool again. This is good. But the pricing of what this company charges and how they conduct their business practices leaves me with little doubt that this company does not have my best interest at heart. read more

I couldn't be happier with Central Carolina AC and with our tech, Willie. Our AC conked out and we have a home warranty, but they couldn't get anyone out for a week and the contractor they chose was rude. At the advice of a friend I contacted Central Carolina AC and Willie came out the next day. He had our AC up and running in about 30 minutes and was very professional and polite. He explained everything and gave me some good advice on top of that. They've definitely earned my business going forward. read more

Been a CCAC customer since 1993 and started using their plumbing services around 2012. Something has changed at the company. Don't want to get into too much detail, but their whole house plan (that covers HVAC, Plumbing and Electric) has changed. I called about a plumbing issue this morning and was told that my plumbing contract had expired (even though I never received any notice) and that they would have to charge me full price for the service call. I explained that I was a long time customer and that I still wanted to be covered on the plumbing plan, but the person said that "they have this happen every day" and that there is nothing that they can do about it. I told them that they were losing a long time customer and that I was not going to review my service agreement for HVAC when it comes up for renewal in 2020, but the person seemed not to care. I asked to have a manager call me and he said that they would, but I never received a call. Really disappointing. read more

I have a mixed review. We were happy with the heat check-up we received in the fall, and we will possibly use them again for heat and air. However, we recently had their plumbing division come out to repair two leaks, and although the plumber did repair one leak, he did not have the part on his truck to fix our other leak. He suggested we do it ourselves, but we'd hired them because plumbing is not within our skill set. We called them back, they sent someone out with a part, but this did not take care of the leaking problem. He then quoted us a cost that was extremely high, saying he'd have to completely rebuild our toilet. We called and spoke with customer service again, that gentleman said he'd call us back, and we never heard from him. Now we need to hire another plumber... read more

We called the folks at CCAC because they had installed the furnace in the Greensboro house that we bought and we wanted to have it inspected. We were so impressed with the personal and professional service that we called them again when the water heater began spraying water (they have a plumbing group). Again, we experienced personal, professional and prompt service! In both cases we were informed of all charges up front so there were no unpleasant surprises. I called Central Carolina Air Conditioning on the recommendation of a good friend. I had some airflow problems with not getting good cooling on my second floor. I called and asked for a technician to evaluate my situation and make a recommendation - and to specifically give me a quote for either assessing and redirecting the airflow of my existing system or to install a mini-split for additional cooling to my second floor bedroom. They quoted me $7500 - presumably to create "cooling zones" or to install one mini-split solution. I had already researched installation of mini-splits and the average cost to install an 8,000 to 12,000 btu system to cool roughly 325 square feet should be about $2100-$2700. By comparison, I had just purchased a replacement unit for a $2600 square foot home which cost $5800. When I complained to the company they offered no solution and claimed they were unable to provide a solution. I had a friend adjust the dampers and ducts on my existing system and have a steady temp on all floors of my home. Suggest you avoid this company. read more

The only suggestion I would have is for the technician to clean up after he goes up in the attic. It's just common courtesy. There was a lot of insulation that he brought down and I had to clean up after him. He was very nice and helpful and did a good job other than that. read more

The technician did come and diagnose the problem later that morning. It was a cracked heat exchanger. I do not blame the technician for the problems that I encountered. Central Carolina is a large company and should have backup for the on call person so that customers who are under contract do not have prolonged wait times. I will further update regarding estimates received from CCA and other contractors for replacement of the furnace itself. read more

I am a long time customer of Central Carolina Heating, A/C. We have used them for dual whole house systems. The service has been good and prices high, but overall fair. Based on my long term relationship with them, I started using their plumbing service. Our opinion of the company has dropped based on their plumbing service. It has been over-the-top in pricing, and uses their position in our whole house service, to extract inappropriate service fees. We have an annual Plumbing contract to keep our system operational and prevent problems. We have used the plumbing service to fix things and replace two toilets. Today, a shower would not turn off. I had turn off all water to the house. This emergency happened at 7:30 AM. I called them at 8 AM. The service man arrived at 1 PM, 5 hours without water for a long time client, DURING THE DAY! The replacement cartridge to fix the problem, sells for less than $40 at Lowes. The charge to repair the problem was $224, for 20 minutes of work. It should have been $100 less. This does not give me a reason to use their service again. read more

I've always had good service from this company in the past. My home is on a service contract with them and has been for years. Recently I sent them to my next door neighbor tenant because one of their units wasn't cooling. The tech came out promptly and found that the filters were old and dirty, so he changed one of them (didn't have 2 of the same size), checked the system and deemed the problem solved. The tenant called again the following morning with the same problem, so we called CCAC back. Another tech came out and discovered that the outside unit wasn't running, so he came to my office because he couldn't find the breaker box. I went next door and flipped the breaker. Eureka! All good, except I was charged $358.85 for the first visit and $288.23 for the second, $647.08 for a filter and a trip out to flip the breaker. I called and spoke to a very nice lady that checked into it for me and called me back shortly to let me know that the bills were correct, pay up. I will do so tonight, but I won't make the mistake of calling them again, and my service contract will not be renewed. Incredibly frustrating. read more
