Doctor never made eye contact with me, sat away asking questions, he didn't even look at the swelling on my face, and didn't test for the two suspected allergens that my primary doctor referred me for. July 21st 10am-11am... No patient privacy I was put in a room right outside the office in what was also a storage room for carts/equipment and a grown man walked in on me while I was top down and told to wait for the doctors knock. He didn't even shut the door until I started yelling. I don't know it happened fast hope management checks the cameras because he wasn't a doctor or a nurse and the man on July 23rd around 9am confirmed this!! Kudos to that same male doctor I was assigned to after for not taking it personal and saying he'd bring it to management and the lady who came in after I cried I think she had glasses (not the one who told me he needed something and grabbed the cart while I was still dressing that was my nurse/doctor she had some behind the ear tattoo in all pink scrubs who was assigned to put the patches on me oh my god she handled it realllyyy unprofessionally) horrid experience honestly I moved my remaining testing to salinas. I ended up getting flat tire so I didn't get to go to salinas and called the Monterey location to get my results not expecting the receptionist to have the info but a call back or hey no sorry would've been contentful, they might've been on lunch but after leaving voicemails I never got a call back, not sure how to reach management regarding this. All of this is coming from someone who works entry level jobs and totally would never ever leave a review specifying people but don't take your kids here don't go here yourself, I was flexible and considerate every time I was rescheduled or something happened and the least expected would've been the same when my privacy was violated. I visit this office regularly to see the NP as well as to receive allergy shots. I wanted to post their current hours. I really like Viri and the staff who administer shots. Dr. Prager was great when I saw him but I've been handed off to nurse practitioners now and they seem to vary but a lack of continuity isn't something I want to complain about. The bills are soooo confusing; I wish Dr. Prager would switch billing services but I put up with that for good treatment. read more

I've tried over and over to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but each and every single time this office has let me down. The last three times I have had to come in for an appointment I have had to wait 30-45 mins in an exam room to be seen. This morning was my final straw when I had to wait another 45 mins, was told the doctor "was running a bit late" and then after waiting 45 mins (and having to leave the exam room to ask for an update) was asked if I wanted to reschedule. So I could spend another 2 hours between the commute and the wait, AGAIN? Furthermore, I told the front desk that I would like to be reimbursed my co payment and my records transferred to a new doctor. The nice lady at the front desk did reimburse my copayment, but was told there would be a 15 dollar charge to transfer records. To be clear, this business has repeatedly failed me as a patient and I am supposed to now pay them to transfer my records due to their lack of actual patient care? I won't even dive into the experience I have had with the doctor as it's not worth it to complain more than I already have about this place, but that experience has also been less than pleasant in the past. So overall, not really a medical establishment I would feel comfortable recommending to anyone. read more

Frustrated with this office. It seems like a money racket the way they have you come in 3 different times to see if you have an allergy. Also, the appointment is far a few in between so you're waiting a long time for the next appointment. Just tried to schedule an appointment and I was on hold for over 20 minutes being bounce around from one person to the next just to be put on hold for eternity. Just had to hang up and call back. People are nice but the process is horrendous. If you don't follow up with this office than you will be lost and fall through the cracks. read more

When I have been in the office the nursing staff has always been pleasant. That's the reason I am giving 2 stars. I definitely do not recommend this office however. I went in for allergy testing and they said they couldn't go over the results for months after telling me I have severe allergies. What's the point?! I came in for a second type of testing and when it was time to schedule a follow up they suddenly had a follow up visit sooner (a few days later) so I went ahead and took the appointment. That night I realized that appointment wasn't going to work for me so I called to reschedule and they said their next available was September. I reminded them that just yesterday they told me they were scheduling out to mid July. I confronted her about how they could have booked 2.5 months worth of appointments in one day. She suddenly had an appointment available mid-July... 24 days before that appointment I am not available to attend because I now need to be in Alaska to attend my babies ultrasound (pregnant with a surrogate) and they now say they can't get me in until October. I can't wait to get my results so I can get my "severe" allergies treated somewhere that has time to see me and doesn't lie about their availability. read more

I am so disappointed. I had an appointment about 6 months ago there and was told that they will schedule regular allergy shots. The office has not called me. I have left a message there about three times since and no call back from them. That is not good business. Two stars, as for the last and only appointment that I have had there, they thoroughly checked for allergies and gave me a booklet filled with information about the results. I'm very disappointed with the way this office handles insurance authorizations. They waited until the last minute--literally the day before the appointment--to call and say our authorization had expired. However, after contacting the insurance company, we found out everything was fine on their end. Instead of helping, the office simply said, "You need to fix it with your insurance." The appointment had been scheduled for over three weeks, and this sudden notification wasn't even an actual issue. Very poor, actually horrible, receptionist. After waiting four months for an appointment, was told that the authorization was through another insurance carrier (because we had to wait THREE MONTHS for an initial appointment, the insurance carrier had changed in the meantime), and when I called my PCP from the waiting room and managed to get a new authorization, was told that I was 4 minutes (FOUR MINUTES!!!!!!) after the grace period and needed a NEW APPOINTMENT! I had offered in the meantime to pay cash for my initial appointment, but she said that she couldn't accept cash because I had insurance, but couldn't accept insurance because the PCP authorized the visit through another insurance carrier (over THREE MONTHS AGO). Now we have to wait for a cancellation...possibly another THREE MONTHS AWAY! I was so angry that I was in tears!!!!!!! AVOID THIS PROVIDER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. read more

I wish there was a zero rating option. This place is a joke. I went to get my son tested for allergens after he had a reaction to a vaccine. They made me make an initial appointment which was just a q&a (waste of time as I already gave the information at booking...also it was close to a $600 charge). Second appointment was the skin test...which is what I would expect at the first appointment ($1200). The dr wouldn't even give me the results at this point...they required me to make a 3rd appointment for this....cash grab. Do not go here...horrible! read more

Spent more time waiting to be seen over the course of three appointments than I did with the doc. What a joke. All the other reviews about wait times are spot on. People working here are just putzing around like it's a policy that you don't get seen on time for your appointment. They informed me my test came back negative for all allergens tested. Found out two weeks later from blood test with my (more competent) doc that I'm allergic to almonds. The same almonds this clinic told me I wasn't allergic to. Take your kids here for a peanut allergy!!!! Suuuuuper accurate. Overall great use of my time. read more

Seriously. As good as it gets. The doctor is very polite. Answered all of my questions without making me feel dumb. The staff is on point. I go in once a week for shots and they are always professional and in a good mood. Even with all there extra precautions due to covid-19 they are handling it all like the pros they are. read more

Two stars because the staff is nice & trying - I saw the primary doctor once for 20 minutes for my initial appointment and saw him in the office a handful of times during my year long regular visits. There is turnover in this office, the staff seems to be doing the best they can for the volume of people coming through but again, I didn't see the doctor in the office most weeks. If it were not for the staff, I would otherwise give this office one star - here is why: I have had allergy shots at other offices (in different states and near SF) for 10 years and have always been communicated with clearly. This office is not this way at all. There was standard prick testing with no interest in past allergy records when my level of sensitivity is in the top 10%. ok... But when my first round of antigens expired, I was told 'no problem, they'll order new antigen and I'd be back on track in about a week' - that's fine but one month later I received a bill for almost $1,000. They had billed my insurance over $5,000. There was ZERO communication with me in advance about this high of a charge being applied to my account and a possible payment due. When I called and asked, I was told 'it is in the contract you signed that we can do this'. Billing my insurance company 5x the going rate in California is beyond ridiculous. Anyhow, I called and am basically making payments due to the fact that I refuse to pay them up front. The staff is nice & professional, the policies and procedures are beyond terrible. There are much better options in the area - I'm grateful for the wonderful allergist I have found since leaving this office, who charges a reasonable rate, is thorough and has a happy staff. read more

I take my 6 year old daughter here for asthma treatment and no matter what i come in for, i am waiting 25 min. AT LEAST to be called in. Then wait another 10 min to see a doctor. An absolute no. Run in the other direction. There are other allergists in the area who will take the time to sit and listen - more than the 15 minutes I had with the doctor over a one year period. I had allergy testing done and briefly discussed the results with the doctor, that was it. I had allergy shots for a year. I had missed a short period and came back and was told my current batch had expired, they were ordering new ones and check back in a week (maybe two, don't recall). I received a bill for over $5k telling me my insurance declined the charge and it is now my responsibility. They refused to drop the price - no negotiations at all. They did not check with my insurance company prior to ordering nor tell me this may happen. Now, I am on a payment plan for $5,000! I have moved to another local (and fantastic) allergist's office where the vials are $2500/year, I see the doctor even walking by with a hello, and they check with insurance and ask before ordering to ensure that insurance covers the price. The injection price is the same (co-pay) elsewhere. If a doctor can't consider the customer/patient, run away. read more

I was appalled at the unprofessional behavior of the Office Manager. I questioned a bill, as I was told that my copay would be sufficient to cover the visit and also subsequent allergy testing (thank goodness I didn't end up doing it). I told her I didn't think I should be responsible for the additional charge and she LITERALLY called me a liar and told me that nobody there would ever tell me such a thing. This review is way past due. One of the worst doctors I've ever been to. I specifically said I wanted food allergy testing yet when I had my appointment, was tested for everything but that. In addition, did not complete my testing during my first appointment but told me at the end of the appointment they were closing and didn't have time to complete further testing. I was then told to schedule another appointment and I'll go ahead and fast forward, had to turn into three appointments to complete my allergy testing, and to NEVER get food allergy testing except lactose which they threw in at the end after I asked them if they did it. When I finally saw the doctor she seemed super sick so I asked her why she was around patients which I was told by her it wasn't contagious. She was hacking up a storm which made me very uncomfortable to be in the office with her and she wasn't even wearing a mask. Contagious or not, it's perception and very unprofessional and gross! In addition, her whole attitude was unprofessional and she failed to gain my trust as a new patient. All three visits I was charged a co-pay for which I told them was ridiculous because this was supposed to be one scheduled visit not multiple, especially when THEY ran out of time and never communicated anything in advance. In addition, every time I paid a bill, I would receive more. Nothing made sense and billing seemed very confused and disorganized. Ended up paying way too much for an allergy test. I told the office I felt like I was being scammed and this went on for over a year. To conclude, a complete waste of hours of my life and to still NOT have any idea about food allergies. This office is absolutely well deserving of the reviews it has received. I was seen in February of 2018 for some allergy issues I was having. I was VERY clear and upfront at every one of my 4 visits that I wanted to know what costs I would incur and I asked at every visit what would be my responsibility. I was assured my co-pay was covering it and was even told my allergy testing had to be conducted over 2 days so that my insurance would cover the cost. The Doctor was nice enough but I did not have any major alleviation of my symptoms from the inhalers/suggestions he provided me. Again, I was super clear I could not afford a huge bill and if the tests were going to be costly, I would prefer other avenues. I was very specific that I wanted transparency of cost. A YEAR LATER they send me a bill for $900 and my insurance company covered almost nothing. I have tried calling the billing office (which is in Utah) and I have sent 2 letters and have ZERO communication back from this office. They are not transparent with their costs nor willing to communicate. I would steer clear of this office if I were you. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! Incompetent medical care: I went to this clinic feeling very ill and unable to breathe. The PA wrote out new prescriptions before examining me. She listened to my lungs and said "sounds good". It took four phone calls and five days for the clinic to send my prescriptions to the pharmacy. I continued to get worse. I was told there was nothing they could do and that I could not be seen for two weeks when my next appointment was scheduled. They suggested I go to emergency. Instead of a $600.00 trip to emergency I took a $60.00 trip to Doctors on Duty where I was diagnosed with a severe bacterial lung infection. A course of antibiotics and I was fine in a few days. If you want to avoid a headache, do not come here. The doctors are good. It's the staff that I just don't understand! First of all, it is impossible to get a hold of anyone on the phone here. Their menu when you call is like a maze. Every button you press it either says "Invalid entry" or it gives you another recording and will not direct you to an actual person. The Salinas location actually answers their phones. EVERY TIME I drop off paperwork to be filled out for my son's school (the medication forms allowing him to have his epi pen & inhaler at his school nurses office) the paperwork never gets filled out. Last time I went to pick it up, the girl searched for it for 5 minutes and it was in a stack of papers and STILL had not been filled out after a whole week. This time it has been 2 weeks since his appointment & dropping off the paperwork and I still haven't gotten a phone call saying it's ready and I have been calling & cannot get a person on the phone. I have to show up in person every time just to get an answer. My son needs to have his medication at school! He has serious allergies. Very inconvenient to have to show up in person just to find out if his paperwork has been filled out or not. I just don't understand it. I am a very patient person but I've had it with this place. I feel like this place doesn't care too much for its patients. read more

The physicians and nurses are very good. I have no complaints. Still, it is extremely irritating that the office's phone messages and its website are not kept up to date and are in conflict about times for shot hours. I've complained about this and was told that they have the information posted in the office. That doesn't help me if I don't have the paper, and especially if the times happen to change again! And it's not very patient-friendly to require that they only get important information in one way, especially since they do have a website. There are plenty of talented people who need work and could do a great job with their website. read more

This place sucks. I have been going back and fourth with their billing department for like two years now. Nobody can give me a straight answer. Nobody seems to know what's going on. I am constantly just being forwarded across departments and being told conflicting things. I was originally told my insurance would cover the testing that my doctor referred I do. A whole year later they called me and asked me to pay for it. When I tried to get things sorted out they told me everything was fine and not to worry and never sent me a bill. Now another year later I have gotten calls saying I owe even more. I still have never received a physical bill. I have been in contact with several different employees and departments who have just continued forwarding me to different people. No one seems to have any answers or the answers they do have are completely contradictive. I highly recommend just going somewhere else. This place is seriously a headache to deal with and clearly does not care about their patients. It doesn't seem like anybody working there actually knows what's going on... read more

HEED ALL OF THE WARNINGS about this practice and definitely avoid this place like the plague, as another reviewer noted. I don't think I've ever experienced such rude and incompetent service ANYWHERE as I did here on July 29th at the Monterey Office. I was not feeling well, knew I was going to be late for my VERY FIRST appt, and called the office to let them know and see if I needed to reschedule. After about 10 minutes on the Voice Response Unit Merry Go-Round, I was disconnected. I called again, listened to all the options AGAIN and was finally able to leave a message. On the way to the office, I encountered about three miles of fire engines on Highway 68 on their way to the Soberanes fire and spent 40 minutes in that traffic. When I arrived at the office I went up to the reception desk where a cheerless young woman was on the phone. It was clear she was in no mood to be at work that day... She finished her call, I gave her my name, explaining that I had left a message that I would be late and she cut me off mid-sentence with "Do you have an appt?" I said yes, gave her my name (she made no eye contact, no smile, no hello how are you, nothing...) I said yes, gave her my name, and she looked at her computer screen and said "Your appt was at 10:00, we only hold them for 15 minutes." I pointed out how nice it would have been to know that BEFORE I left my house but that I couldn't get through to anyone on the phone." She bluntly told me that "you'll have to reschedule or come back at Noon." I was so blown away by the atrocious manner in which I'd been treated I simply told her that "I won't be coming back at all" and left. This woman would be better suited as a hall monitor at juvenile hall or perhaps a clerk at the East Los Angeles DMV. The practice here would be better off if they spent less money on expensive TV ads and more money hiring people who understand the importance of caring, professional, and gracious patient care.
