If what you need is just to come in, get plugged in, receive treatment and go home, then no complaints. They do that efficiently which the occasional issue with scheduling. If you have any complications, or really interact on anything out of the ordinary, they aren't interested. Not sure if they are understaffed, undertrained or just don't care about it much. But if you need additional care, might as well just go to the ER. read more

Dr. Zach Koontz is an all star Doc. He has an incredible amount of modern knowledge about cancer, has a soothing bedside manner for those of us that are going through a shocker of a diagnosis. I trust him completely with my life . Stanford trained and a cool cat too. read more

We've experienced the most stressful time in our family's recently, but I have to post to say THANK YOU Dr. Tray. We simply cannot say enough great things about Pacific Cancer Care. Some of what we experienced: Fast appointment times Call backs to answer our questions (for us, the same day) They follow up with you Helped with other medical issues Having a team of doctors to review/address issues when needed Genuine compassion This list may not seem like much but it has made a world of difference to us. Early on, our daughter asked if we should seek treatment from a well know medical facility up in Palo Alto, which we considered. So glad we didn't as the treatment throughout to include Pacific Cancer Care has been above what she would receive if we went that route. Without getting into details of our situation but the care my wife received was incredible and no doubt saved her life and eased her pain and stress and anxiety. read more

After 4 years of being a patient they CANCELLED my appointment less than 24 hours before the appointment because my Medicare had lapsed after I was scammed out of my savings and could no longer keep up with the payments. Even though I had told then weeks before it was lapsed, and I was bleeding every time I urinated, they still booked the visit and then cancelled last minute. A full office of billing agents failed to tell me I was eligible for Medical and could seek immediate care and coverage. Obviously, the MONEY is more important. Won't go back. read more

I am a medical profession so I've had my time dealing with other professionals, good and bad. I have two family members that are/were patients at this facility and I had my run with different staff members. The girls who answer the phones are terrible one in particular (E) she answers the phone unprofessionally, when you ask her questions instead of saying " I'm happy to help" or "give me a moment" she just stays silent and you're left thinking she hung up or the call d/c; hello? She does seem like she's always juggling 100 things at once since she's always rushing. But ANA the scheduler (N/P) is amazing. She is efficient, professional and thorough. We waited a week for an appointment as a N/P which is fine but she knew we were unsettled and preferred to be seen ASAP. She took time out of her day to call me to lmk wether or not there were any cancellations but once something opened up she would let us know. She even helped us with informing us on different options we could explore since my family member was uninsured at the time. She definitely went above and beyond for us and I'm sure she does with all the patients. She did not make me feel like she was too busy to help me with anything we needed. It's really nice to know there are healthcare workers that truly care for their patients. read more

Pacific Cancer center helped me through a really hard time in my life. From the receptionist, nurses, medical assistants, Nurse practitioners, billing and the pharmacy I was treated with the utmost respect. Chemo is no joke I got pretty sick a few times and they were very caring and compassionate. They would constantly check-on me and all the patients from what I could see. The facility itself is very clean, spacious. You get a nice view. Nurse practitioner Debbie was awesome. Very kind, very funny she made me feel very comfortable. Head nurse Debbie was also excellent she found my veins very quickly. I can honestly say I had one incident with one nurse who wasn't very kind caring very rude actually but it's not enough to not give them 5 stars. I highly recommend this place read more

Absolutely the most disorganized, and inefficient staff of any professionals business I have ever dealt with. Multiple unnecessary phone calls for the same appointment with no respect for the patients time. The front desk receptionist was rude insisting for over 30 minutes that my husband could not accompany me for our Doctors visit with Dr. Tray even after showing my Covid vaccination card. She just kept repeating that is their policy without any medical reasons given when asked. We had to speak with the Executive director and threaten to go elsewhere before meeting with Dr. Tray who was polite and fine with him. All other Doctors such as our surgeon, Radiologist, general practice, and CHOMP allow my husband to accompany and comfort me. Difficulty in getting answers over the phone, just transferred to a phone machine with no one available or in a meeting. Basically I get the impression that they are a business basically interested in profit and not compassionate care, and that our time is not as valuable as theirs. This center claims on their website that they offer compassionate care and how much they try to make. you comfortable. That was NOT my experience! Their"new patient coordinator" is rude, uncaring, impatient, and unwelcoming with no flexibility. WORST possible first interaction with clinic itself. i am a non smoker. i have lung cancer out of no where, and just spent 4 days in hospital going thru myraid invasive tests, after initially going there for covid-19 test.(negative.) totally in shock, alone, and terrified. They need a verbally compassionate, patient, flexible, kind person in that job. No excuse for her coldness. However, the appt lady was very helpful and kind. as was the triage nurse Christina. i hope services will dramatically improve once i am in there. UPDATE: Lobby downstairs for health check-in/registration too narrow and crowded for 6 ft. distancing and staff dont seem to care. In my frst official consult with dr tray..---I felt rushed!. She explained the type of lung cancer i had and that it was stage 4 (since is in both lungs.) stage 4?? i could barely think. Such a life altering shock at only 67 years old Yes, i broke into sobs and clearly needed a minute to get my emotions and head together.But she kept saying "we have a lot to get thru". Definitely they need to schedule more time for first cancer consults! i thought we would be discussing treatment options but turned out totally depends on results of another test that takes 3 weeks for results to come back. in meantime i was scheduled for a pet ct scan (head to toe to see if cancer elsewhere in my body.). When i left her office i felt rudderless...just the test results 3 weeks away. No referral to cancer support groups. nutririntionst or suggestions on coping with this devastating news.. Then today was the head to toe PET CT scan, which can detect other cancer cells in your body by injecting a radiosctive idotope in you that causes any other cancer cells, (like in your bones) to light up on the scan. Warning,...the isotooe makes most folks throw up a few hours later...but otherwise an easy procedure. Just as i was recovering from that, doc calls with results of pet ct scan. There is cancer in my bones. Dont they even TRY to teach docs how to break bad news? its all so clinical to them, i just felt like a number to her. i told her i was getting a second opinion from my brothers pulmonary oncologist at stanford. I had already made some complaints to her about one staff member and the unsafe (covid-19 wise for a lung cancer patient) downstairs check-in area. Catching Covid-19 now would be a death sentence for me! but. It was heartless of her to say i should find another doctor since i wasn't happy there. this just a few minutes after she had told me my cancer had metastasized. She clearly wasnt interested in resolving my concerns! just getting rid of me. Efficiency is great. but not at the cost of patience and empathy. Her impressive resume doesnt include time, patience, or empathy for her patients. i will be going to stanford where friends with cancer treated there assure me me its done with compassion and patience. read more

I am so pleased with the care I am receiving. I met with Dr. Dorothy Tenney. I wish everyone could have a consult with her, cancer or not. I was referred to her by my Oncologist, Dr. Nancy Tray. I can't seem to get the correct assistance with this facility. The doctor seems very knowledgeable but the staff can't seem to get me into the right appointments in a timely fashion. I'm very distressed about my experience with this facility and it's recommendations to my testing. The doctor is excellent but I'm not sure that the staff can organize what what's needed.This is an update! The following is an updated version: they got me into a great place for a mammogram in a timely fashion. So I'm upping them to four stars! Staff is rude on the phone, my wife has been waiting over 48 hrs for her pain medication. When she called, she was told she needed to come in to pick up the prescription, before this the prescription had been called to the pharmacy each & every time. Office and nursing staff run on chaos rather than knowledge and efficiency. Too bad the physicians don't realize or care that their patients are being neglected, especially after Dr Jerry's illness. Get referred to Stanford or UCSF Onc if you want to deal with professionals. read more

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because when I do go the staff and doctors are kind and friendly. My problem is I couldn't get an appointment with an oncologist for the life of me after my original doctor left. I was put with a PA twice, then I could not get an appointment with the doctor. Result is I finally saw one and so my appointment for a mammogram and ultrasound will be 4 months late. This concerns me . I hadn't seen an oncologist for over a year, then these tests could not be scheduled sooner. Someone said to me, "well, your case is low in priority ". This is because I had stage 0 cancer, but I had radiation treatments and take the hormones. I know my ca biopsy showed a virulent species. I had 3 surgeries on the breast so I am not at ease with the whole situation. read more

I see Dr. Koontz for Hematology & he is an excellent dr. He really listens to my issues, then takes the time to do a thorough evaluation & creates excellent treatment plans. Dr. Koontz is also very articulate in educating me on all of my options with regards to treatment. This allows me to feel like I have some input in my Plan of Care & as a result I always follow through on his recommendations. He truly cares about his patients. I wish all of my doctors were like him & followed his/this model. read more

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma and have been cancer free for 3 years. A cancer diagnosis can bring with it fear, anxiety and, sometimes, anger. In my many visits I have never been treated with anything but compassion and concern at Pacific Cancer Care. My observation is that if you go into your treatment negatively you are doing yourself, your oncologist, and the staff a disservice. We are mortal beings. Unfortunately, no one gets out of this alive. I now live my life in extension, thanks to Dr. Zachary Koontz and the good people at Pacific Cancer Care. read more

I highly recommend this cancer center. Dr Jerry Rubin took care of my doctor for the last two months of his life with a glioblastoma brain tumor. He was very empathetic and let us contact him at any hour of the day with any questions or concerns we had. Dr Koontz also came to see my dad at one point and was also a great doctor as well. While my dad was out of the hospital and had to come in for visits, it was very convenient to have every thing in one office (blood work, port flush, pharmacy, dr visit) since it was very hard taking him places. My boyfriend is a cancer survivor and did his treatment through a center in Salinas which was nothing short of a nightmare and I wish we would have known what a great center this place is. "Chemo Bay" (treatment room) is very clean and professional and well as the rest of the office and staff. I can't find the words to express my gratitude towards the doctors at this office and highly recommend for anyone or their loved one. read more
