Thoughtful, thorough and professional. Dr Fow took care of a knee problem personally and provided guided insight into my issue.

Everyone was rude (again?!). Just a rude culture here (can't believe this is my 2nd time reviewing them/didn't know was same co). Noone says "you're welcome, thank you, goodbye" if you initiate a hello, thank you or goodbye, don't expect to be responded to. Just a snotty/snobby bunch of people who found each other and work together. Even Dr. Dusch saunters out of your appt room without a goodbye, she just exits. Rude, rude and rude.

Incompetence and Snowflakes…read more What happened to this place??? I saw a doctor here a few years ago and had a completely pleasant and professional experience. I fractured my scapula a couple of weeks ago, x-rays in the ER and a referral to CCO. I called CCO the next day to schedule an appointment, got voicemail, so I left the details and asked for a call back. Called again each of the next two days, left messages, and waited for a callback. Nothing. By Thursday, I called my primary, asked for a PT referral (which they sent the same day) and went to PT the next day to deal with all the pain and muscle stiffness. PT noticed that the ER referred me to the spine guy at CCO, not the shoulder guy. So on the way home, I stopped by CCO with my ER referral paperwork from Monday , and asked to set an appointment with their shoulder specialist. The nice lady behind the desk, said she understood why I'd want to see the shoulder guy but had to get the spine guy to agree that the shoulder guy was the right specialist to see me, and assured me they'd be back in touch shortly. For a minute, I thought she was saying I could wait there in the lobby while she got that approval. It wasn't until Thursday the next week that I got the call to set an appointment... with the Physician's Assistant... in a week. I told the lady on the phone that I didn't see the point in seeing a PA after 3 weeks with the injury, and that I wanted to see the shoulder physician. Confused, she asked whether I wanted the appointment or not. I clarified that I didn't see the point in seeing a PA 3 weeks after my injury, and that while they'd been "dickin' around with their internal process trying to get me in", I'd already seen my primary, had 2 PT sessions, and one with my Rolfer / Massage therapist. As I was finishing that sentence, she said my language was unacceptable and hung up. To CCO, I'm sorry for saying "dickin' around". For the snowflake on the phone and for the management over there, please expect that injured patients trying to get acute care might be frustrated when it takes you two weeks to do something that should take 10 minutes. Your website says "Dedicated to High - Quality Care". Pretty please, run your business like you mean that...

NO pain, NO pain meds, only stiffness. WOW! After my husband's knee replacement horrors, & several friends who took ages to finally heal, with LOTS of pain, as soon as my husband could finally drive, I high-tailed it to California from PA to have Dr Thomas Ferro do my Nanoknee surgery. Even 10 years older that my sister, I had the same outcome...NO pain, NO pain meds, only stiffness that I did some in-home therapy for. Currently debating who will get the next Nanoknee...my sister or me! Still amazed my Nanoknee works likes it did when I was an Eagles cheerleader...& that was almost 50 yrs ago!

After persisting for several hours the day of my appointment, to get no answers to questions about the appointment, I was finally told 1 hour after my appointment time, that the doctor who was still on another appointment, would talk with me (by zoom), in 1/2 hour. Because I had an evening engagement, I was not able to wait, and told the staff so, but was not offered an apology, or another appointment time. After my experience with the office staff of Dr. Ferro, I would never consider scheduling surgery with him. Offices definitely are a reflection of their owners.

Getting Really Sick Puts Things To The Test…read more.... My wife almost died as a teenager from Ulcerative Colitis (before they knew what that was) and gets monthly shots for rheumatoid arthritis...so her immune system is compromised. In early April, she got a virulent infection with the "C-Diff" bacteria after taking a large dose of antibiotics prescribed by our dentist in advance of an oral procedure. Eventually, tests revealed an extremely high level of white blood cells which caused our primary care physician to call us at 8 AM on a Wednesday morning to say "go to the ER immediately". We did. My wife spent 8 hours in the ER at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital while they examined her and prepared an "isolation room" in the main building for someone with a very contagious condition. She spent 3 1/2 days there. Ratings: - Overall: 4 - Doctors: 5 - Nurses: 5 - Support Staff: 5 - ER: 3 - Hospital Room: 4 - Hospital Food (regular menu): 2 - Hospital Food (customized): 5 - Cafeteria: 2 - Parking: 3 - Doctors: Skilled. My wife saw an ER doctor who was fine, but could not be specific since she didn't have most test results. Later in the ER, she saw a Hospitalist, Dr Herrick, who reviewed the data and prepared her for the move to the main building. He visited each morning...as did an Infectious Disease Expert, Dr Holland. Both Herrick and Holland were knowledgeable, helpful and had a nice bedside manner (especially important when you're feeling lousy). - Nurses: Great. The primary RN she had in the ER was Kristina while the RN's who served her "isolation room" were Elleece and Vanessa. Everyone knew their job very well. Kristina was friendly and helpful. Elleece was the most focused on work. Vanessa was a little goofy, but in a good way. - Support Staff: Fine. Everyone we met knew exactly what to do with a minimum of fuss...and usually with a good sense of humor. The Occupational Therapist, Baxter, and the Physical Therapist, Josh, were knowledgeable and even entertaining. The Dietician was informative. - ER: Not a fun place, but better than on TV. My wife was in Bed #12 and the guy in #11 spent the day in loud agony. Nurses were around to help and answer questions, but 8 hours in a gurney type bed was not much fun. - Hospital Room: Her "isolation room", #34, had enough space for 1 1/2 people. It was drab and a bit worn down, but that reflected the building. The bed was much more comfortable. On a minor note, while the TV in the ER had a ton of cable channels, the one in #34 had very few. - Hospital Food: Depends. The regular menu given to patients seemed similar to Denny's. But a different menu where people could "customize their order" was MUCH BETTER! In fact, my wife declared the food from the "make your meal" menu was really good! - Cafeteria: Disappointing. The cafeteria is tiny with a few tables inside...a few in a covered patio and some outside in the fresh air. Minimal hot entrees and only 1 vegetarian choice - a bean burrito. There's a salad bar, but after the sad hot dishes, I didn't bother looking. At least I didn't get sick. - Parking: Tough. This hospital has increased in popularity during the past 10-15 years and outgrown some of its facilities...including parking. That's why they added a dirt lot in the back with a golf cart and driver available to move people who don't wish to walk. If you've got to go to a hospital, AG Community Hospital isn't a bad place. It's a convenient destination for nearby residents who don't want or need to go to SLO or Santa Maria, but as the population expands this hospital gets a greater number of patients than it was built for. Still they seem to manage the flow and adapt to the growing pains. Good people make a difference.

I recently was here for an apparent "viral infection" of which they could not determine the cause…read more The doctor seemed sort of off with her responses meaning I don't think she even knew what she was talking about so she just made stuff up. I was then escorted out of the hospital by arroyo grandes police department as soon as I was discharged, I walked out to a police officer asking if I was meagan and he would not allow me to leave without permission from staff who called police to report that I could be driving under the influence, that was not possible because I'd been vomiting all day long and couldn't even keep my allergy meds down. That being said the discharge nurse of whom which I've already reported assumed instead of asking me directly that I was "under the influence " of I'm guessing maybe she thought a sedative or something? But all I had from the hospital was two IV drip bags and drip Tylenol... Literally the most disgusting absurd treatment I've ever had or experienced and I will NOT be returning to this slime grime hospital again, I do not tolerate disrespect like this and nobody should assume and should always politely ask, I am happy to answer questions but just plain assuming is lazy and unprofessional. I find my experience is much better at any of the Cottage hospitals I've visited and will just keep visiting those instead of this laughing stock of a place.
