I have been coming to shop at Central Fabrics for MANY years and the service here has been nothing short of amazing. When I first started my sewing journey I would come in the store and ask for help, ever time I needed to know how to make something the staff has always went above and beyond to help me complete my projects. I am always greeted with a smile and speedy service. Pricing is always more than fair, if they don't have an item that I need they always offer to order it. Love this store!!! They have "everything " in a cramped space. Plus there is parking in the back of the store too. The diverse selection of fabrics, and notions is almost like what you would find in NYC garment district. This place is a must for sewing, and crafters. Friendly staff too. read more

I love love love this place...been going there for years...most of the girls are super nice...they go out of their way to assist you..i would have given a 5 stars ..but for one employee..Carmen arrived to work when i was already there and being assisted..she took over cutting my fabric...but was interrupted by another customer who needed help with fabric selection on her phone Carmen without saying anything to me stopped and proceeded to help this new customer...i just stood there...and later i asked an associate standing by to finish with me... After Carmen had the nerve to tell me ..that by asking another person to finish was not nice...instead of a simple apology she rather was reprimading me! I told her i had a show and was behind time..so i couldn't wait for her..she was still going on and on ..she needs some training in customer service read more

I love love LOVE this place!! This place has been a go to for my family for YEARS! I have had my Girl Scouts uniform all the way to my senior prom dress made with fabric from this establishment. The prices are ALWAYS great. And now they have sewing classes?!?! Of COURSE I'm signed up for their next session!!!! I came in here for all the items I needed to make a fascinator, and within a few minutes, this wonderful saleswoman got me everything I needed! For under $15 mind you. OMG! Can't believe the selection and the prices in this shop. It was a 45min. drive from my house but worth every second of travel time. They offer a wide selection of African prints, leather and stretch cotton. I got hot pink neoprene for 1/3 the price I've seen elsewhere. read more

I gave this place one star because of the owner's attitude towards his employees. I went in the store yesterday for rose gold sequin fabric and the sales woman who helped me was very friendly and nice. She called the owner over to see if I could get a better price on the fabric and was explaining to the owner what I wanted and he turned and said to her "don't tell me a story, get to the point" with a very nasty attitude. Very unfriendly and nasty old man. I would never recommend anyone to this Fabric store nor will I ever go again. Also, his quality of fabric is very poor for the price. I found better at another fabric store on Central Ave called Fabric R US. Much better quality and much much better pricing and the owner of that store is super friendly and willing to help you. read more

I was looking for satin material to use to wrap my daughter's hair up at night. I was greeted by the store's (owner, manager, supervisor?) who first of all told me there is not such thing as satin for wrapping up hair. He preceded to show me satin material with polyester in it. I figured it's just for wrapping hair, so ok. After he cut the material he asked one of the girls if there was such a thing as satin material for wrapping hair. Of course she said yes, and she showed me what I was looking for. I purchased the material in two different colors, but decided I didn't want the other material since it did not meet my needs. The GUY told my once they cut material they can't take it back. I could've left it there, but I wanted the other material so I paid for it. If the women who worked in the store weren't so nice and helpful, I would never go back. TIP for the GUY, know your fabric before you say you don't have something. read more

For those of us who sew it has become next to impossible to buy apparel fabric and notions. I stumbled across this wonderful store today and I can't say enough good about it. It is jammed with fabric and notions of every description. The staff was lovely and the prices great. It has the wonderful organic feel of an old hardware store. That fabric store reminds of the old stores. I've been there four times. Each time that owner was unfriendly and did not seem to respect his customers. I would not return there, nor suggest anyone I know trade there. I brought in an old chair pad and had the worker, the small West Indian woman with braids or dread cut the pad. She picked the pad which was too thick. I could see it was too big. She said it was correct and she'd work there for several years. Well it was too big. I return to the store and the disconnected owner told the worker to cut the thinner pad. He stood next to me, while she went downstairs. He never looked my way. He took the thicker pad which was double the price of the thinner pad. I asked for the difference as a refund. He refused. The worker was angry and voiced the owner should have made me keep the first pad and buy another. That owner did not handle that situation professionally and fairly. For the principal, I filed a complaint to BBB and Consumer Affairs and when I find another consumer agency, I'll file there also. read more
