I have been purchasing flowering plant baskets from this florist for years. I am so very happy they made it through the shut down and are still supporting us in Alameda. The owner, Bruce has always helped me in the past, so they were the first florist I thought of when I needed a special order when a wonderful friend of ours (that shared a mutual love of Hawaii with us) unfortunately passed. I immediately knew that I wanted to send a Hawaiian flower spray to the church. As I couldn't find anything on the 1-800 Flowers website, I phoned Bruce and asked him if he could help. He provided me with his cell phone # to send a photo I had found of what I had in mind. Not only did they get it right, they exceeded our expectations. Saw it a few days later, and were impressed with the quality of the flowers, the size of the arrangement and whole presentation! Pricing was very reasonable, and there was no delivery charge. They called me and told me they didn't want to deliver broken flowers, could they deliver tomorrow instead? Central Florist has some really nice people to work with. I came in on Christmas Eve day to buy something pretty, festive and quick! Everyone was buzzing around getting things done for their Christmas deadline yet they took a moment to doll up a lovely table centerpiece that I had picked out. Truthfully, it was lovely just as it was but they placed a few holiday dried floral items and a pinecone here and there...a ribbon...a bit of sparkle and Voile! If I could give them a 0 i totally would. Worst experience i've ever had ordering an arrangement!! I don't understand the positive feed back.. these people should be out of business. First, the arrangement i ordered online was not the one that was delivered, not the same type of flowers nor as many as what was shown. These arrangements are not cheap!! So I emailed the website which I ordered from and they were so apologetic and offered to redeliver the correct arrangement I was very pleased... boy should I have known the worst of my experience had just begun. The following morning I get a call, from which I assume was either the owner or manager... he was very upset that I had complained about the arrangement accusing me of lying and was super rude. After explaining the issue to him I offered to send him a photo that I had sent to the website they work with, to show how different and fewer flowers the arrangement delivered had. He asked me to text it to him so he could see as he had delivered himself and it was exactly the same.. which was a lie!! So after a few minutes he calls and tells me they'll take care of it.. wish I could have stopped him!! My family member then calls me later that night to tell me how rude the delivery guy was. He apparently complained to her for complaining to me about the arrangement.. REALLY ? then he proceeds to tell her that next time she should take a picture from a different angle so it'll look similar to the one on the picture.. you've got to be kidding me, All while having an attitude and being rude. Then he takes the old arrangement (with other flowers people had given her for valentines day), WHAT?? This was supposed to be a redelivery of the arrangement not an exchange!! Mind you this all happened at her work place in-front of customers of hers... humiliating her at work in front of others!!! NO WAY!! So I took it upon myself to call him and see what that was all that about? To tell them how unprofessional they acted and how upsetting it was and what a horrible experience they made it for me and my family member. When I call and I tell him the issue he is in denial and tells me how she should have taken the picture from a different angle, then I tell him to stop going on about the angle of the picture how this has nothing to do with the angle and about how they advertised something they clearly did not have (as 2nd arrangements was not the same either) and how rude they have been and what horrible customer service they have, he then starts complaining of how my complaint is costing them money... They've got to be kidding! By then I have had enough and tell them that I will be filing a complaint with the website they work with, then things change, he is apologetic he is no longer rude nor defensive but he wants to make things right... NO THANK YOU!! I then keep getting calls from 2 different people i assume the manager and owner? I tell them to stop calling me that I am done, and he starts trying to persuade me to buy another arrangement and that he'll give me 50% off. HOW PATHETIC.. just wanting to get more money!!! My advise.. DO NOT give them any of your business.. worst experience ever!!! If you order through a website or a 3rd party .. make sure to tell them to not go through this florist.. i know I will. read more

In July 2015, one of my best friends, since childhood, died. Some of my other friends and I wanted to get a custom flower arrangement made for the funeral, which was being held in Alameda. The design we wanted to use was of an emblem from one of our friend's childhood heros. Since I haven't lived in Alameda for about 20 years, I asked a friend if they had any recommendations for a florist and they told me about Central Florist. I called Central Florist a few days before the funeral and spoke to Bruce. I told him about the custom design we had in mind and where the funeral was taking place. He was already aware of the funeral and knew where the flowers had to be delivered and the time the flowers had to be delivered by (which saved me the time of explaining those details). Bruce gave me his cell phone number and asked me to text him a picture of our custom design, which I did. Within an hour he got back to me and said he could make an arrangement using our design and gave me a price. The flowers were delivered on time with no problems. When I got to the church for the service, I was amazed at what a great job they did on the flowers; it was definitely beyond my expectations. We received a lot of compliments about the flowers and everyone agreed that our deceased friend would have loved them. I will definitely use Central Florist again and will recommend them to friends and family. read more

We ordered some flowers and balloons for my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day, to be delivered on Friday before Mother's Day, paid over $100. All that we requested was that the flowers be delivered in the morning so my Mother-in-law wouldn't have to wait around all day or miss her afternoon appointment. When I called to put in the request I was told they would try to deliver them before 2:00pm but as of 4:30pm my Mother-in-law still does not have her flowers. If I'm going to spend that much money I would really appreciate it if they didn't put us last on the delivery schedule. When I called at 3:21pm someone said they would try to see what they could do and call me back. I never got a call back and I could not be more upset at this companies lack of customer service. If she does not get her flowers today I am going to demand a full refund from this company. I called and spoke to the manager Bruce, he is going to make it right by sending my Mother-in-law another bouquet of her favorite flowers. We thought we were getting in before the big Mothers Day rush by having these delivered on the Friday before but as Bruce explained it to me they were very, very busy. I can understand that and since they were willing to make this up to me I will absolutely order from them again in the future. read more

Was not happy!!! Went online and picked out the flowers I wanted for a man's funeral, purple and yellow. Got to the service and there was my flowers purple and PINK!!! It was $90 wasted, it was just NOT the message I wanted to send to my friend, he would NOT have liked the pink flowers!! I called the day before and ask if there were any problems with the order, they said no problems. I think they should have told me if they changed the colors. Wonderful people! They say they "always go the extra mile"--and they really do! I live on the East Coast and ordered a Mother's Day plant for my mother, who lives in Alameda. I called and explained that she had been waiting in the front of her building for her delivery, and that her apartment was too far away from the front lobby for her to walk back. The person I spoke to tracked down the van, and collected the plant to deliver it personally to make sure that my mother would not have to wait too much longer.
